Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Morning all. That is interesting re the HRT - will have to speak to my doctor. Second dose this evening. Had very slight nausea yesterday but other than that no side effects. 8.4 pounds off this week so delighted - I feel much less puffy so can tell all that water has gone. Now to focus on getting rid of the fat!

Dewberrywotsit · 09/01/2026 08:12

OMG one more thing and this is odd, so wondering if anyone else has experienced this, but my hot flushes have stopped this week? I have been having LOADS until this week. I am not on HRT. I was having around 10 hot flushes a day, minimum. It was embarrassing to be honest and debilitating. Has anyone else had less on MJ? It could just eb a hormonal flucuation of course as it is only my first week. I haven't had a period for about 3 months now (my longest gap).

blackandwhitefluffycat · 09/01/2026 08:14

10lbs off since 1st Jan here, and that’s with eating regularly and a decent amount - and the same diet as I did for over a month last year without any success!

I’ve been determined to lose it slowly as I don’t want to get gallstones, so I think this is just first week water loss. I always drink lots, but I’ve been drinking even more! I’m hoping it will slow down now.

I had no idea about it until I joined this thread and someone mentioned it early on!

Yes me too - planning to restart the gym after a short Christmas break, but focus on muscle strength as apparently that is the way to go for meno etc. What's your thinking on fitness?

blackandwhitefluffycat · 09/01/2026 08:22

I have weights at home and work out most days just using YT workouts like Caroline Girvan when I’m feeling like a challenge or easier ones like Mizi if I just want something quick and easy.

I’ve done this for years - though pre YT it was Jillian Michaels DVDs!

I walk everywhere too.

2026istheyear · 09/01/2026 08:28

@Dewberrywotsit I have a Peleton that I got in the Black Friday sale and have been using that - low impact classes at the moment. I’ve started with a PT once a week to do heavier weights, have joined a weekly Pilates class and also one group exercise class called sculpt and burn. I’ve always done some exercise and dog walks but upping my game to keep muscle and help with skin/toning. I want to do reformer Pilates but have a recovering bad knee so will start that once I have dropped some more weight. Need to make this a total lifestyle change!

LilacPossum · 09/01/2026 08:31

Just done my first official weigh in, 8lbs off! Super happy with that. My appetite has definitely been suppressed although I’m noticing less so as the week has gone on. Otherwise minimal side effects- a bit of burping but not too much else… fingers crossed it stays like that for tonight’s dose!

This sounds so good. I am a bit inspired.

Great weight losses. It's so inspiring to read how everyone is managing food, exercise and life.

These losses are amazing!!
Only a couple of days since I had my first MJ dose but I feel really weirdly normal. Not sure how to explain it - but I realised when cooking dinner the past two nights that cooking usually makes me stressed and annoyed (cooking for a family for many years will do that to you, I guess...) but last night I was just calm ... and even cheery. This is very odd, but I am not complaining 😂.

Eating my normal (ie non-Christmas) food: just a bit less of it, and a bit more slowly than usual.

No nausea or other GI symptoms, which is good as I suffer from quite severe IBS so that's been a fear of mine. So... all good so far (very early days). And everyone's mega losses and inspirational exercise posts are very encouraging too!

We have had the same weight loss and same lack of major side effects - long may that continue!

Rubytoes · 09/01/2026 10:53

I had a very different BM when I went to the loo this morning! Sorry if tmi but it reminded me of soft serve ice cream! 😅
I'm 3 days into my first jab and that's the first digestive change I've noticed. No burps or stomach pain. Not a lot of appetite suppression - I'm eating smaller portions and no snacking, but I'm definitely feeling hunger before meals.

glutenisthedevil · 09/01/2026 10:55

Well done everyone on your losses. It's so encouraging. I weigh tomorrow morning - keeping my fingers crossed for a good result. I definitely feel less bloated so here's hoping!

BakeMeACakeAsFastAsYouCan · 09/01/2026 11:03

Hi all,

I've just weighed myself and am 13st at 5'5", I'm 45 and definitely peri. I have gained around 2st in 2 years.

It has shocked me into ordering Wegovy today. I had a referral with £50 off from my sister which was good. Been toying with it for a while as I can feel myself getting heavier and it almost seems out of control. Have felt so uncomfortable for the past 6 months, weight definitely going on stomach and hips.

I feel a huge sense of relief at doing somwthing positive. Been in a really low place for a while but ready to take control and look and feel better again. I want to get about 2.5 stone off.

DP and I are looking to book our first proper beach holiday together for the end of May so it's good to have that goal too.

My sister hasn't had any serious side-effects, just a bit of nausea in the first week or so. She has lost about 18lb since November.

Good luck all, haven't RTFT but will when I get time.

FrostyFlo · 09/01/2026 11:05

Just jabbed my first one . Read the info loads of times , got my dh to sit beside me and check that what I was reading , I was doing . Scary but in a way exciting . Loads to lose easily 5+ stone then ( hopefully if it works ) will reassess .
On Wegovy .

goldylock · 09/01/2026 11:33

Did the second 2.5mg injection last night.

I don't feel anything at all. No side effects, no suppression, nothing! Nothing compared to the first dose.

Injected into the stomach.

What a weaving journey this Mounjaro is.

HannahBoyle · 09/01/2026 11:44

2nd jab today. Feel ok so far. My appetite was almost normal yesterday and I was hungry.

I only lost 2 pounds this week 🙄

Whatstfpoint · 09/01/2026 12:05

I was ravenous yesterday afternoon but it's gone today thank god. I have to remember what I learnt during my previous dieting attemps: that I cannot survive on a cesar salad lunch if I'm actually hungry.

My new treat are rice cakes with a bit of Nutella, jam or whatever. I stood by the kitchen counter making noises as I ate one.

I also discovered Dr Kargs crispbread and stocked up. For now I'm replacing choc and biscuits with that. Basically im still going to have a small meal if I need one but it won't be half a packet of biscuits.

I noticed that my weekly shop didn't get eaten. So starting to saving money there.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 09/01/2026 12:09

@Ralphiesaurus I feel weirdly normal too. Like more normal than my usual normal.

I had a bit of nausea today, but nothing major for me. Nausea is my middle name after a year of anti breast cancer meds.

One thing I have noticed today, day 3, is that my step has more spring in it. Normally I feel like a deep sea diver, plodding along with lead weights in my shoes. I hate walking anywhere because of it. Currently I have to walk to school as I'm not allowed to drive and today felt so very different. My back still hurts because I'm so overweight but I still found it enjoyable rather than an edurance test.

chatw00 · 09/01/2026 12:32

Checking / Weighing in from Australia. Did my first Mounjaro jab today (GP prescribed the 15mg pen but am only taking 2.5mg to start with - had to Google what all of that means - and now I understand!).

CW 106kg (170cm tall).
Aiming to take it slow with first TW of 96kg.

Any loss is a bonus right now, as am really carrying weight around my middle and my neck of all places!

blackandwhitefluffycat · 09/01/2026 12:36

My appetite still wasn’t back yesterday, and it’s totally gone now, To the extent that 6hrs after my second jab I’ve only just sat down and thought I should eat something - but only because I know I should! So I’ve had brunch of natural yoghurt mixed with a variety of fruit. Pre MJ I’d be thinking all morning about food, and trying to hold off as long as possible!

No negative side effects this time either so far.

Spartak · 09/01/2026 14:12

I'm just about to do my 2nd jab. I've lost 7lbs this week. A little bit burpy sometimes, both other than that, I've not had any negative impacts at all.

I've stuck religiously to getting at least 2 litres of water or squash down and my skin is already looking better.

YellowStockings · 09/01/2026 14:25

Anyone else doing WG? I took my first jab Saturday night, and felt queasy / not hungry Sunday through Tuesday. Then since Wednesday I've been starving! Properly hungry all day, something I didn't ever really feel pre-jab. Wonder if my body is just a bit confused - I'm trying very hard to eat smaller portions of healthy food and not giving into the hunger, but if WG is going to be half the week nauseous then half starving I can see why people are paying more for MJ! 😅Second dose due tomorrow evening so will see what that does, I'm meant to be going out with friends so think I'll do it late just before I go to bed.

I am. As I understand it any early suppression is nice to have but not to be counted on at this early stage. I was starving around my 2nd jab - I put it down to my body doing its usual thing - I always felt starving on a diet even though I objectively ate enough and well. It's why diets never worked. There is a theory amongst scientists that the body does not know it is 2026 and you aren't going to need to hunt for food. So it is trying to signal starving to make you put on fat to survive.

I think either drug is going to eventually suppress this. At least this is what I am hoping for, otherwise I will be doomed.
