BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Well I had some appetite back so had half a chicken sandwich! Will see how it goes on my stomach.

Obviously having panicked for days that I had totally lost my appetite I am now worried this means the medication actually won’t work for me at all.

BooptotheFloof · 07/01/2026 21:50

I still have a dull ache in my stomach - started this morning and seems to have moved from my left hand side to my lower abdomen - I am sure it is trapped wind - but it definitely seems to be staying trapped!

I have eaten more today - a bowl of muesli and blueberries at breakfast with kiwi and clementine, for lunch I had a pot of prune puree (see above!) and a load of nuts and seeds - then a ate a raw carrot

For dinner I made myself a delicious spicy lentil Dahl from scratch - dropping in tomatoes and spinach at the end

Despite this I still haven’t hit 800 calories today according to MyFitnessPal but I beginning to wonder if all the info on there is as correct as it could be

I feel full, I don’t want to snack - but the nagging ‘pain’ in my stomach is probably helping with that

I’ve drunk 2 litres of water /decaf tea and have just downed a fennel tea in the hope that might help

@bookwormcrazy have you not told your husband either? Mine would be really supportive as he knows how much weight I have gained but I am not telling anyone until I know I’ve got the first two stone off …. And even then I’m not sure I am going to mention it

I bruised where I injected too just a small circular one less than a cm

@blackandwhitefluffycat does your calf hurt this evening or do you think you’re just making it worse by poking it ….. that is absolutely what I am doing with my belly too 🤦‍♀️

It will work!

Got up and felt fine, normal porridge for breakfast. Went for a walk and had some fruit when I got back.

DP made lunch (cottage pie) and although I ate some of it I felt so sick and had to leave half of it. I hate feeling sick. I wonder whether I need to eat 4 smaller meals as opposed to large ones.

BG are you still with us - I noticed you’ve not posted for a few days

bookwormcrazy · 07/01/2026 22:09

@BooptotheFloof No I haven’t told my husband. There is only 1 person who knows and that’s because she is on mj already so I have been getting her advice.

The few times I have talked to my husband about it, he’s been a little bit dismissive and “I just need to try harder” but he has his own serious health problems he’s dealing with and for the last 6 years I have been prioritising his health issues over my own so I want to do this for me.
I will probably tell him at some point - maybe when I have lost (hopefully) a significant amount of weight and he can’t be dismissive of it.

Im in! First dose of wegovy this evening. Seemed pretty straightforward. Looking forward to the journey now.
Starting weight: 82kg
Target weight: 60kg

blackandwhitefluffycat · 07/01/2026 22:53

@BooptotheFloof I hope all of that helps! Your menu for today sounds delicious. My calf still hurts but only when walking or poking it, I probably have made it worse 😂 No redness or swelling though - I’ve had the tape measure out 😂 All the googling has taught me a lesson that I’m at higher risk with MJ/ HRT combined so I will be extra careful when ill/ travelling long distances in future!

Only my husband knows. And you lot 😄 He’s told work colleagues and friends and family about himself, but he has a lot more to lose and hasn’t managed it in many years previously so they’d probably guess anyway!

End of day 6 and so far so good. No real side effects except possibly some vague nausea earlier. Appetite still very suppressed - wandered into the kitchen earlier to get something as I haven’t had much today and my snack of choice was randomly 3 mushrooms - baffling for someone who would usually choose an entire large bar of chocolate!

Rubytoes · 07/01/2026 23:58

Joining in! I received and injected my first dose of MJ yesterday (in my stomach, no bruising).

Starting weight 72kg
Target weight 50kg

I've felt a bit nauseous all day but still feeling hungry for meals. Feel a bit more tired too.

BG2015 · 08/01/2026 07:42

Hi yes, still here. Side effects have been minimal since Sunday - so the first 4 days I felt a bit ropey. Can't say I've had great food suppression yet but definitely eating a lot less and drinking water.

Just done my first weigh in and I've lost 3.7lb. I'm happy with that but not sure how much the injection has contributed really as I've been tracking like crazy.

We shall see as the weeks go on.

Second injection this afternoon.

Welcome to all the new people.

I think we've established that all of our experiences are very different. Plus some of us are on MJ and others WG, so that may be significant regarding side effects.

Due my second injection tomorrow - I feel OK, but am sleeping for HOURS every night (9/10 hours if I can get away with not being interrupted). Anyone else? Eating is fine - just being really healthy. Already losing weight, but bit worried as want to go slow so may need to up my intake a bit, I have Gilberts syndrome and didn't want to trigger it so am eating as regularly as I can bare but super healthy choices and high nutrient, non processed, lots of fish in fact and am craving cooked onions! Haha weird. Is the second injection better? I felt horrible first two days after first....does that happen every time? Would really appreciate hearing peeps experience in this. 🤓

Peppermint oil, or tea can give relief for trapped wind. there are also ways to massage your abdomen which might help too

bonnie199 · 08/01/2026 09:00

First weigh in…7.5lbs down in a week. Sure a lot of it was water retention but I’m still chuffed.
due next dose tomorrow but going to wait until Friday, I have 2 long shifts at work and I can’t risk feeling like I did last week during those.

MJstarterbefore40 · 08/01/2026 09:05

Well after not having any side effects I had a very upset tummy during the night. I did have quite a spicy dinner though so I'm wondering if that's why.

goldylock · 08/01/2026 10:11

Day 6 of first injection.

I wasn't hungry until lunch time yest and then by dinner, I felt the wli effects had worn off. And that's backed up now by my appetite for breakfast this morning. 0 side effects.

Will say, it's kinda nice having a normal appetite feeling again. But, like many others, am amazed how disinterested in food I am when it's working.

The temptation to stuff my gob today is there (just to have a real taste of food!), and I could do it, because I will administer Dose 2 of 2.5 mg by this evening....hmmmm

Ralphiesaurus · 08/01/2026 11:35

I wish I had your sleep problem, @Dewberrywotsit. I did my first MJ injection yesterday and slept terribly 😩. I do suffer from insomnia (menopause) and have been monitoring it for a few months on my Garmin - and with various tweaks to my bedtime routine/blackout blind etc had managed to improve things a lot. This morning my "body battery" was 49% which is making today very difficult! No other side effects as yet though, which is a relief.

Fantastic first week loss, @bonnie199 !

notcomfortable · 08/01/2026 11:46

Was suppose to recieve my order yesterday but its been delayed due to the weather (Scotland) 🥲
Currently eating everything in sight as I have no self control but I am also battling cold symptoms and an ear infection so I just want quick easy comfort foods but I am so looking forward to getting back into the routine of it

glutenisthedevil · 08/01/2026 11:57

Well done on your loss@bonnie199that's a great result. My weigh day isn't until Saturday but I'm definitely feeling less bloated. Weirdly, my Fitbit is showing that my resting heart rate has increased by 2 this week so I'll be keeping an eye on that going forward.

intentionals · 08/01/2026 13:02

Day six over here as well. No stomach issues overnight. Appetite this morning but have had a smoothie. If today is like yesterday then I will feel hungry in the evening. I am not sure how to try to force myself to eat some lunch though as I really don’t like the thought of food.

Tomorrow I need to decide if I will do the second injection or delay it. Anyone got any thoughts? I am veering towards doing it because my stomach has settled down. Not sure if I need to make myself eat more or if the total lack of appetite most of the day means I should delay

bec81 · 08/01/2026 13:03

Im only on day 1, but my god im exhausted. Sitting at my desk trying to stay awake, feeling as though I'm at the end of a 4 day festival.

Whatstfpoint · 08/01/2026 13:22

I did my second dose yesterday and have very few side effects. In terms of appetite it made no difference. It's like the effect keeps wearing off ever since I took my first dose. In my mind I could eat everything in sight so will see how the afternoon goes.

Upon weighing yesterday I had gained 1lb which pissed me right off. I know I haven't really and it's water as I started my period. I weighed again this morning and I had lost 1kg over night, so down about 1lb this week.

Need to reconsider. Obviously if I weight and inject at night I still have a day's food and water in me.

Other than that all pains and aches are gone. I can move around like a 16yo. It feels amazing.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 08/01/2026 15:12

sunnysunshinebear · 07/01/2026 21:02

Can I ask, if people don’t mind, where they have been injecting? I went for the thigh but a couple of friends have said the stomach is better and I’m wondering if it makes any difference?

I did the stomach as I read it's the least painful place to inject and I'm a big wuss.

goldylock · 08/01/2026 15:33

@intentionals

If was me, I'd continue. You've gone through side effects this past week, and in order to know if it's defo not for you/if those side effects continue, you need to take the next dose.

By MJ logic, next week could be awful for me on second dose and great for you.

But of course you know yourself/body best.
