BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

@intentionalsSorry to hear that you're still suffering that way. Have you had toilet troubles from the very beginning? It's so hard isn't it?

I woke this morning feeling hungry so had strawberries and a banana for breakfast, and I'm having leftover turkey meatballs and veg with some super seeded crackers for lunch. I'm afraid of eating the 'wrong' foods in case they cause me to react badly. I'm convinced my reaction on day 2 was caused by the not so healthy foods I'd eaten the day before I injected.

FrothyCothy · 07/01/2026 13:37

Only just felt hungry now so same breakfast as yesterday with added psyllium husk for fibre. Did have a bit of an over-stuffed feeling last night but all fine this morning. DH very nauseous today, he’s on day 3

Instructions · 07/01/2026 13:39

My first order has just arrived! I'm planning to do the first jab Friday evening so I have the weekend if it makes me feel really rubbish. Still quite (very) nervous. But also a bit excited :)

12345abcdefg · 07/01/2026 13:40

Hello! I'd like to join you all if possible.
I took my first MJ last Friday.
Absolutely no change in appetite but also no bad side effects so I suppose that's good.

goldylock · 07/01/2026 13:47

Day 5 on first dose. I couldn't wait until Friday to weigh myself, so hopped on the morn (let's just say, back end troubles were left behind this morn).

Down 3 pounds (prob water). But I feel all skinny now 🥲.

5ft 7in/170m
SW: 14 stone
CW: 13 stone 12

Lessons learned so far:

  • If a more protein heavy dinner, don't over eat or will bloat/be full for too long.
  • Have something fibery at every meal. An apple or carrot. Something.
  • I am not a great water drinker (except when playing sport) and I don't think that's going to change. I never have been. It hasn't affected me yet. But will try maybe drink electrolytes first thing in the morn.
  • Eat regularly, even if something very small. Don't wait until you're starving.

Think am going to inject tomo eve instead of Fri.

Please please try and drink more water
You can end up very unwell if you don't
I can only stand frozen water so I make sure to always have a bottle in the freezer
And I can get 3l in that way
The days when I don't drink enough I definitely feel worse, especially the more injections you do and the medication is at the highest in your system
Its not worth the risk xx

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/01/2026 14:01

I did it, first dose this morning. Although truth is I chickened out and had to get DH to do it for me. I didn't feel a thing.

I feel fine, same as normal. But it isn't the same as normal. I was hungry shortly after so made my regular breakfast. I did notice that I was inclined to scrape the butter onto the bread rather than slathering it on, which is new. Can it really work that fast? But I only ate half my breakfast, just didn't want the second half.

Then I had nothing until lunch, which was a full portion of a healthy meal. Afterwards I had a coffee, where normally I'd binge on chocolate. There's an open box of chocs on the table next to me and I have no desire for them at all. I'm wanting to drink a lot more water though.

Day one is looking good so far.

@notcomfortable

I know myself and won't get anywhere near 3l a day. I won't set that expectation as I know I won't meet it 🙃.

I think I need to be realistic then strategise.

I don't need a lot of water to operate daily. Never have. Between drinks (I don't drink caffeine) and water, I'd sink about 1.5-2 liters. But I defo won't be doing anywhere near 3l (well done you tho!).

If I've to play a (compeditive) tennis match on a day, I'll usually start with an electrolyte drink first thing in the morn. And so, I think I'll try this.

I hade side effects within minutes after my first shot. I also noticed my appetite waning right away and it was significantly suppressed from the first day. People here even said it was a placebo affect. Well, it's lasted 7 days now. It's not a placebo effect.

Thanks - pretty much from day one. I think/hope they are easing off a bit.

I think as I read so much that week one in 2.5 probably wouldn’t have any real effect I was completely not expecting anything. To be honest the complete lack of appetite has upset me - which is crazy given that is the goal of the medication!

Now trying to drink my calories and had a banana smoothie earlier. Will try something very light for dinner.

Definitely think things might be improving as a few hours ago I had trapped wind rather than crashing urgency to go to the loo. I just feel like maybe that means things are settling down a bit - but my body is currently a complete mystery to me!

Will see how I feel on Friday to decide if I jab again or wait a few days. Definitely losing weight but not in the controlled healthy way I imagined!

Ralphiesaurus · 07/01/2026 15:18

First dose just done! Eek! Was much easier than expected. Now anxiously awaiting feeling sick lol. Hopefully won't be too bad...

I'll happily accept the placebo effect if it looks and feels like this.

If you arent getting any after effects on 2 ltrs then thats good for you. I have a 2ltr jug that i fill when working with water, howeever sometimes its easy and sometimes its not (especially when travelling).
I sometimes need to bribe myself with soem sparkling water, sometimes add a tiny bit of squash to take the edge off.
On a good day i get 3 ltrs, but not every day, i do take a ORS hydration tablet daily for other reasons. This regime works for me, but everyone is different and they have to find whats right for them!

goldylock · 07/01/2026 16:31

@Tammy214

Yes, 100%, water consumption and how much one needs does depend individually.

I am monitored (medically) quite a bit and it's never come up that I've been dehydrated, and that includes a couple major surgeries.

I just don't get a thirst for water or feel a need to consciously drink regularly. If I do (occasionally) get parched, I will up water that day. Generally, 1 to 2ls "liquid" (I do not consume caffeine) for me is fine.

I am also eating fine and no major effects such as v&d. So not a huge need to supplement with electrolytes. But I might. Will see over the coming weeks.

Thanks for the help tips tho!

I’ve woken up this morning and have a really dull pain in my left hand side (not a heart attack!) I feel like it’s trapped wind but I can’t <ahem> release it

Of course all aches and pains going forward will be obviously attributed to being on MJ

I’ve probably just slept awkwardly

Today is the first time I haven’t wanted to eat breakfast but, as I said yesterday, I know I’m not eating enough so have doubled up the muesli and blueberries and have also eaten half a kiwi and half a clementine that my kids left

Oh, another tip in case anyone hasn’t mentioned it already is peppermint tea for wind. I had it really bad on the higher doses and it always helps me and felt better than guzzling loads of pepto bismol.

Im crying this morning I'm so emotional. I lost some weight in my first week and have really enjoyed figuring out the changes to my diet and lifestyle. During a normal diet, a week from now my first hunger and appetite pangs would hit me and they would be 24/7 for days no matter the amount or type of food i would eat. I think people here know what I'm talking about.

Im crying at the possibility that I could loose weight consistently without these. Whatever I had this week...the hunger here, appetite there were just niggles compared with what I would normally go through. Is this how slim people live?

I’ve been on it about a year now and still revel in the fact I no longer barely think about food.

I was on a thread the other day and wrote about “food noise” and writing it all down really brought home to me how obsessed with food i was and how much Mounjaro has changed my life.

It really is insane!

Dewberrywotsit · 07/01/2026 20:30

Going well for me too! On day 5 now. Mainly feel completely normal, but sleeping really early and for a long time and weeing a lot in the night...anyone else? I am eating super healthy - been eating chia seeds and flaxseed everyday with fullfat greek yoghurt and sugar free granola for brekky. I am eating what I want really - not weighing but consciously being healthy. It is good. I have to stay hydrated and my mouth is dry - no more burps though. No junk food is easy right now. Sometimes I get really hungry but I don;t over eat or eat any crap. The craving part of foood is gone. No constipation - think iot's the chia seeds adn some grainy bread every day.

ThisAmusedPoet · 07/01/2026 20:38

First dose is in!

despite reading the instructions several times and watching the video, I still made a small mistake - not holding the pen lid for a full 5 seconds. It did get to 0 for a full dose though so I’m hoping I didn’t mess up too badly?

I’ve been calorie counting and doing some IF in preparation (though will stop intermittent fasting while on MJ initially and just try to eat three nutritious meals). So I’m down a bit of what I assume is water weight from post Xmas indulgence and am starting my MJ journey at 90kg pretty much bang on.

Will see how my symptoms go! I made sure to eat clean today so hopefully it’s not too bad. And guzzling the water…

Can I ask, if people don’t mind, where they have been injecting? I went for the thigh but a couple of friends have said the stomach is better and I’m wondering if it makes any difference?

I always did my stomach
About 2cm away from the belly button but last year I did my thigh and the fat of my arm but it made no difference, side effects weren't better or worse

I just did stomach

bookwormcrazy · 07/01/2026 21:21

End of day 2 and the only thing I have really suffered from today is an all day headache. It’s been bearable and I have still managed to work etc but it’s definitely been there all day.

I am being good and recording food and counting calories but after feeling incredibly hungry last night, I was still super hungry this morning and had to have a banana for breakfast which I never do. I don’t normally eat until lunch time at the earliest. I do hope the headache eases tomorrow.

I did mine in my stomach but it’s bruised and my husband has noticed and asked about it. I might try the thigh next time.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 07/01/2026 21:32

Stomach here and mine is also very bruised despite barely feeling it. I do bruise easily though.

I also have unexplained bruises on my aching calf, but I don’t know if they’re from being injured without realising it, or whether it’s from pressing to see where the pain is exactly.

FrothyCothy · 07/01/2026 21:36

Thigh for me, not noticed any bruises.

Ended on 1600 cals for the day and have to say feeling a bit peckish - that probably sounds like a lot compared to most, but have a lot to lose and have probably been averaging 2500+ per day in recent months so makes sense the reduction would feel like a shock to the system!
