Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Just done my first dose. Hoping to lose between 22 and 36 pounds. Going to see how I look. 36 pounds might be too skinny at my age (53).
was nervous about the jab, but YouTube video helped. Not telling anyone, have my pen wrapped in tinfoil in the fridge looking like leftovers, guaranteed no one will open or throw out as that’s my job!

@Kickingasssince72

Actually, that's something I meant to ask to others...I know if unopened, it has to stay in the fridge.

But once a dose is administered, does it have to stay in the fridge? Mine is currently in the fridge also (will ensure to leave at room temp for 30 mins before admin). But does keeping it in the fridge damage the active drug?

No I kept in the in fridge previously
Never heard of taking it out 30 min before hand, I just took it out as soon as I fancied jabbing
I lost 30kg the first time around so can't have done any harm

FrothyCothy · 06/01/2026 18:48

I’ve read about taking it out 30 mins before as administering it cold can sting more than at room temp apparently.

Had usual breakfast (Greek yoghurt, protein powder, banana, peanut butter, dark choc) and the fajitas minus the wrap for tea. c1400 calories for the day. 112g of protein. Not sure if I will regret spicy-ish tea!

Felt nauseous this morning but better once I ate. Drank plenty of water. Took some supplements. Day 2 tomorrow so will see how we go!

Dollyfloss · 06/01/2026 18:53

It needs to be kept in the fridge between 2°C and 8°C both before and after opening.

My instructions said it doesn’t need to stay in the fridge after you use it for the first time.

Ahh, I’ve just had a look and the guidance says once it’s been opened it can be stored at room temperature for a maximum of 30 days.

I’ve never done this as I use my pens beyond 30 days and so just keep it in the fridge to be sure.

Splitunnoticed · 06/01/2026 19:24

Did second dose on Sunday. First day back to the office today and I didn’t think about food or have time left in the day to eat much. Just not hungry.

MJ really is magic!! All those years of struggling with diets and now it’s just removed any interest in food!! I think it would be quite easy to develop an eating disorder to be honest. Trying to eat 2 boiled eggs and a banana before bed as ChatGPT (new best friend 😂) said I need to eat more.

Day 2, I've had 3 decent meals but I do feel hungry now. Does it take a few doses to kick in?

Springflowers3 · 06/01/2026 21:30

I’ve also been wondering if it might take a few doses to be really effective. I’m eating a lot less and not as hungry as I would have been without it but still thinking about food but in a more distant way. Definitely not feeling completely full after eating.

The different experiences we are all having is interesting; I’m finding it really helpful to read everyone’s updates.

Springflowers3 · 06/01/2026 21:36

@Dollyfloss @notcomfortable

Do you remember if you found the effect strengthened when you had the second or third dose?

I think it took a couple of weeks to kick in properly and then I moved up with each pen to 7.5mg - and back down when I wanted to maintain. although if I went back in time I’d try and stay on a lower dose for longer and not lose weight as quickly bc that resulted in hair loss and also quite a saggy neck!
I now have little pesky bits of re-growth hair stuck up all over my head.

It’s tempting to rush through the doses and convince yourself that moving up will get the weight off quicker but I’d recommend focusing on nutrition and really trying to reach your tdee calorie allowance even if it means slightly slower weight loss. This can be really difficult if you have strong suppression - some days I could only manage half of one meal.

Now I’m starting up on 2.5mg again after Christmas I’m going to really focus on what I eat and making meal plans etc. I find it quite difficult to eat enough fruit at this time of year - I’ve had none today 😬

blackandwhitefluffycat · 06/01/2026 22:14

I’m at the end of day 5 and still not feeling hungry and still feeling full really quickly after eating a small amount.

I once worked with someone who was super slim and she said she had no interest in food and only ate for fuel. I understand how she felt now! I’ve been offered things to eat that normally I’d jump at, but I have no interest. As someone said above somewhere, I can rationally think through whether I really want to eat something (is it providing nutrients?) because hunger isn’t making the decision.

BooptotheFloof · 06/01/2026 22:36

I took my first dose on Saturday evening so I’m now at the end of day three
I’ve only been eating really healthy foods and know I’m not hitting my daily calories as usually I’d fill the gaps with ‘bad’ food
I don’t feel particularly hungry but also still don’t feel like I’m totally full - I’m not even sure its MJ doing it’s job - I think I’m just in the mindset that this is costing a bloody fortune so it has to work so I am focussing really hard on not snacking
I haven’t had any side effects at all, no headaches, no nausea and no gut issues
I am drinking loads of water though - and I even though I know I’m not hitting my calories I am making sure everything is really well balanced so the percentage of protein in every meal is high

Tomorrow I must make sure I eat more - I said that yesterday and the day before

The poster earlier who said they are using 2.5mg a week out of a 5mg pen - how does that work - as I thought you could only keep the pens for 30 days?

Springflowers3 · 06/01/2026 22:52

Thanks @Dollyfloss

That seems like good, sensible advice. I want to have steady and healthy weight loss and happy for that to take time.

As someone else has just written I am being much more mindful of what I’m eating and enjoying it.

My big test will be when I return to the office next week with the cabinet groaning with junk food. We have some serious feeders in the office. I wonder how I’ll cope with the 3pm dip but I’m beginning to think that it will be fine and that I will resist without too much effort.

Whatstfpoint · 06/01/2026 23:21

2nd dose tomorrow and it's definitely time. I could eat something now but it's manageable. I'm really worried about the old huge appetite kicking in and me getting overwhelmed.

Im on wegovy and for the past week almost every evening I had a GI issue out the back end. I can't make any sense of it.

bookwormcrazy · 06/01/2026 23:59

I have been out this evening at a musical in London so up later than I normally would be and surprisingly I’m really hungry. I’m not going to eat because my head is saying no but my stomach is saying feed me! It’s bizarre.
Normally I would get snacks and a drink for late trains home but I didn’t tonight and I don’t regret it but I do feel so hungry which I find unexpected seeing as I jabbed for the first time last night.

@Dollyfloss @notcomfortable

I never had appetite suppression until 10mg
Food was still on my mind, what my next meal would be was on my mind, what snacks I'm going to pack for work
My friend was the same, she was having 3 course Indian meals 🙈🤦‍♀️ but when she hit 10mg she could barely eat.
Suppression isn't a guarantee and that's why I think you also have to work to change your mindset and your meals

BooptotheFloof · 07/01/2026 08:08

I’ve woken up this morning and have a really dull pain in my left hand side (not a heart attack!) I feel like it’s trapped wind but I can’t <ahem> release it

Of course all aches and pains going forward will be obviously attributed to being on MJ

I’ve probably just slept awkwardly

Today is the first time I haven’t wanted to eat breakfast but, as I said yesterday, I know I’m not eating enough so have doubled up the muesli and blueberries and have also eaten half a kiwi and half a clementine that my kids left

blackandwhitefluffycat · 07/01/2026 08:14

I hope it goes soon, Boop. I know the feeling! I woke up yesterday with one aching calf when I walk. Being on MJ, HRT and having had a lazy few days as I’ve been ill with a cold I’ve naturally gone to worst case scenario and have convinced myself I might have a DVT! I have no swelling or redness or warmth, but of course have read the rare stories of people who had them without those! I was hoping I’d wake up with it fine today but it’s the same so far. It’s not terrible though, so I’ll see how it goes before panicking.

Tammy214 · 07/01/2026 08:30

Just remember that everyone is different and the first month is meant to build up tolerance so some will not feel the actual suppression , some will.
i had the expectation that as a tritatration dose i wasnt expecting anything , but i had some suppression, but i know many didnt. It helped me manage my own expectations which can be high when we are spending alot on it

BooptotheFloof · 07/01/2026 08:36

@blackandwhitefluffycat ha! I’m glad other people do this too! I’ve definitely gone to worst case scenario
Hope your leg feels better soon!

Whatstfpoint · 07/01/2026 09:25

Im crying this morning I'm so emotional. I lost some weight in my first week and have really enjoyed figuring out the changes to my diet and lifestyle. During a normal diet, a week from now my first hunger and appetite pangs would hit me and they would be 24/7 for days no matter the amount or type of food i would eat. I think people here know what I'm talking about.

Im crying at the possibility that I could loose weight consistently without these. Whatever I had this week...the hunger here, appetite there were just niggles compared with what I would normally go through. Is this how slim people live?

blackandwhitefluffycat · 07/01/2026 09:38

I’ve weighed and I’m 13.12 today. 7lbs in a week! I know it will mostly be water weight etc in the first week but I’ll take it.

I can’t believe it. I’m making myself eat despite not being hungry and feeling full quickly, and I’m eating similarly to how I was eating for over a month without any results (I kept a log), the only difference is I’m not feeling deprived by eating what I’m eating, and that the weight is coming off this time!

intentionals · 07/01/2026 10:22

Feeling a bit deflated today. Had to dash to the loo in the middle of the night and woke up with zero appetite. Next jab is on Friday.

managed a banana smoothie for breakfast - going to experiment with liquid food.

if it doesn’t get better by Friday when my next jab is due I will delay it. But overall feel worried about what is going on with my body
