Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

And while we're on the subject...... I've ordered the smallest turkey crown from the wonderful butcher who delivers here all the way from Paisley.

The bugger who was my husband won't be getting any.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne you need an electric blanket, I heat mine up for a bit before I go up to bed so it's nice when I get in.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 02/12/2025 18:00

I recently spent a week or so in the Scottish highlands, it was so cold it snowed, I bought some cyberjammies that had kept Facebook ad spamming me and they are sooo cosy! I think I originally read the material was good for menopausal night sweats but it’s not something I have suffered from (yet!)

GnomeDePlume · 02/12/2025 18:02

@Fffreeeeezing I use a wheelchair cushion with a coccyx cut out. It isnt perfect but is a major improvement. I tried one of the celular cushions but that was agony.

🤣🤣🤣 I've got one. I keep it on all night.

I hate being cold!

The infamous dementia choir sang at a Christmas Market on Sunday.
It was held in the basement area of a distillery, which was not heated.

We sang well, although we froze to death. OMG it was awful.

That's useful to know thank you. Especially as I've just got home with one of those cellular honeycomb like seat pads to try tomorrow. Good news is that I borrowed it from my grandmother so if it's rubbish I can just give it back! And then buy one of those cushions with the coccyx cut out I saw on Amazon.

Can't believe how miserable it's making me. Add to that pain the fact I put on 3 different dresses before a work meeting this afternoon because the first 2 were properly too big to wear so I'm off to Vinted to source some replacements.......

PearlTeapot · 02/12/2025 19:37

I'm also freezing! I have always been though so this is nothing new to me.

@broon I'M FURIOUS FOR YOU! Hope he has a miserable Christmas Day.

After ignoring the hair talk for so long I'm alarmed at my rate. I think I said the other day a staff member French plaited my hair, well I looked at a photo from a year ago of thick chunky plaits and now tiny little tails hanging.

Good job I plan on a bob for my 40th in Jan. This one: (imagine stolen from the internet)

PearlTeapot · 02/12/2025 19:38

wait imagine didn't load

My office chair is a bariatric one purchased before I started losing weight. For me the most comfortable way of sitting is to position the cushion at the front of the seat and sit back on it, essentially hanging off the back of it. Works for me!

GnomeDePlume · 02/12/2025 20:25

2 NSVs:

My PE kit arrived today so Cinders will be going to the gym tomorrow morning.

My plus size dressmaker's dummy is in the auction catalogue, she is now too big for me.

GnomeDePlume · 03/12/2025 07:16

I have been to the gym! I think I need to book an induction as the only machines I recognised were bike, treadmill and rowing machine. I'm sure there is much fun to be had on the other machines.

TragicMuse · 03/12/2025 07:31

Week 40, 10mg

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 11.5lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 13st 12.75lbs
Change this week +.25lbs
Total loss 75.25lbs

SO annoying! I haven’t gone mad, I’ve largely been within calories this week - my average is still under 1400 a day. And I was showing a loss up to Saturday, following which I’ve really stuck within my limits

It will be fine overall. But all the same, it pisses me off a bit.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 02/12/2025 14:58

I wish I knew what my nemesis was! Every bloody week I lose weight for my Sat 'official' weigh in, then gain Sunday/Monday/Tues, then start losing slowly Wed-Fri before ending up with a decent (ish) loss on Sat again. No idea what's causing the fluctuations - today I am 0.6kg heavier than Sat despite only eating 1000-1200 calories each day and going for two couch to 5K runs 🤷

If you lose weight Saturday to Saturday but have a little gain in the middle of the week, wouldn’t it be best to just stop weighing yourself then and weigh on a Saturday?

MummyInTheNecropolis · 30/11/2025 01:42

I’m just home from a lovely festive night out with friends, had a couple of NSVs today. Firstly, I bought a pair of size 10 jeans and they fit. Size 10! Secondly, I wore a dress tonight that I would never have dreamed of wearing before and actually felt good in it! So good in fact, I’m sharing a photo. The one on the left is the photo I took when I first ordered MJ, second one is from tonight.

I am not on a weight loss drug (and don’t need To ) but let me tell you : you look amazing!!! That s such an impressive loss , I even showed the photo to my husband 🫣😝

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 03/12/2025 08:14

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne He's such an idiot. I'm glad your dmwe tail choir went well but gosh that sounds cold!

I've just ordered an electric blanket type throw. I had no idea thyw were so different to old fashioned 70s things. A friend has one and I can sit at home with it all toasty!

Now that would be sensible! But somehow I just can't stay away from the scales 🙈

Missingducks · 03/12/2025 09:38

Week 34 and finally 4 stones down from 156.5kg to 131kg. Slow and steady and unless I cut an arm off I will be unlikely to get to 127 (20 stones) by 1 January but close.

Would I like it to be faster? Yes indeed.
Would I like to see more of a difference? Yes indeed - but amazing how clothes seem longer and jackets do up.
Would I still eat a tube of Pringles in one go on my own on a car journey? hell yes, but I am trying not to buy things that call to me as I need to recoup the investment in Mounjaro.
Do I regret getting to almost 25 stones before I found Mounjaro? Of course, but mostly I am pleased I started in April and am on my way down.

Is it harder than expected? hell yes, it's not the magic fat jab that the denigrators say it is - as we all know it just allows us to not eat (crap) all the time.
What would I tell anyone new to this? It's your life and your body, be kind to it. Don't tell anyone anything you don't want them to know. Milestones matter - don't have just one huge end goal - mine is 12.5stones, I haven't even looked to see what that is in kg as I have been focused on 127kg as my next goal. Interim goals are achievable.

And don't measure your own success against anyone else's. But do celebrate theirs too!

GnomeDePlume · 03/12/2025 09:45

Wise words @Missingducks

I looked at myself in leggings today (this is the first time I have ever owned any) and could finally see the progress I have made. Still got lots of weight to lose but I now can see that it's making a difference.

SilenceInside · 03/12/2025 14:19

I was musing about weight loss and energy, and wondered what people's experiences were here? I often see people posting on WLI threads that they are lacking in energy, either they feel from not eating much or from the Mounjaro itself. I have never had a correlation between eating and energy levels, other than I generally feel much more alert and active whilst in a calorie deficit and on Mounjaro. But that seems counter intuitive to me!

But undeniably, I do more exercise and general movement than before, which started in the first few weeks. I get antsy if I haven't been for a decent walk, or done a run, and will walk short journeys rather than drive if at all possible. The only thing that puts me off doing that is the dark rainy afternoons/evenings at the moment.

Does anyone else feel more energised when in a calorie deficit, rather than lacking in energy?

flipent · 03/12/2025 14:27

@SilenceInside I have lots more energy when I'm eating the right foods in calorie deficit. But, if I don't get the right kind of food either not enough or high fat / high sugar lacking much in the way of nutrients then I do feel lethargic.

But before MJ when I was eating all the wrong things, all the wrong time I had no energy either. Not all calories are created equally!

SilenceInside · 03/12/2025 14:36

I guess it's the lack of high sugar, high fat things, maybe also not having the large rises and falls of blood sugar helps as well. I think my general nutrition has always been ok, as I used to eat crap on top of healthy food rather than instead of. Certainly I've never been deficient in anything, no low iron levels or anything like that despite being vegetarian since a teen.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/12/2025 15:41

I think my general nutrition has always been ok, as I used to eat crap on top of healthy food rather than instead of.

Yes I'm the same.
I just have to not have crap in the house. It's still too tempting.

PearlTeapot · 03/12/2025 16:38

Mj has given me so much energy and I sleep loads better too. (After an initial month of insomnia). Who knows why? I used to be a sloth.

GnomeDePlume · 04/12/2025 07:05

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 99.6kg BMI 38.9
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

15 stone 10lbs in old money. Another week of gain rather than loss. Ho hum, I know I havent been hitting the cakes. I need to look at my portions and see if anything is happening there. Plus, having lost a fair amount of weight they probably do need to reduce portion size a bit more.

I do also wonder if in winter our bodies naturally incline to hold onto fat. Perhaps by moving just a little bit less without it being noticeable. Anyway, now I am starting to go to the gym I am hoping to kick the weightloss into action again.
