1000 replies

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/11/2025 12:34

Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

Thankyou ❤️. This thread and posters like yourself who are so far ahead has been the most helpful thing 💐.

Week 41, and 2lb off this week. Total 6st 2lb. That's 86lb, so my next big aim is another stone to get to 100lb off. I'd like to do that by 4th April, which is my 1 year jabversary. Fingers crossed 🤞.

SW 22st 8lb
CW 16st 6lb
Provisional GW 11st 4lb

Im still fretting about the bloody hair loss, it's shedding like mad. I'm now using rosemary oil & pumpkin seed oil, and have bought Minoxidil foam, but am stupidly scared to use it for some reason. I'm at the hairdressers next week, so will have a chat with her for reassurance. A pp mentioned that it can be toxic to dogs, so thats a worry too, so I might change to capsules rather than foam.

So, enough of my hair woes. How's everyones week been? Let's hears some lovely NSV's. I have couple of small ones. I can now wear a lovely pair of boots I've had in my wardrobe for several years. I could never get them over my cankles, but they now zip up beautifully. Also, I've had to order a smaller strap for my smart watch. Who knew you would lose weight from your wrists & ankles!!

Have a great week losers x

That’s such a lovely post @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, weirdly I feel like a proud parent 😂, you’ve achieved so much more than you planned to achieve 💐

Onenotsosmallstep · 16/01/2026 10:49

Ahh @eibbed999 so much of what you said about parenting at this stage- and the loss rang true. You’re right to get to the point our young people can confidently flee the nest is what you want for them but it’s heart breaking too. I bet it’s still sinking in for your daughter but you’re right 8 week terms at Oxbridge- it’ll fit by. I had my oldest at 21 (much to the shame of my now passed father- where I was brought up ‘girls like me’ didn’t have children young, they had sparkling careers) so have never been an adult without him there. I’m so proud of him though for going and working hard to achieve his dreams every day (not Oxbridge but PPE at Russell Group uni). Anyway I guess this means there’s never been a better time for putting ourselves and our health first. I hope the positive feeling back in control has continued.

@PearlTeapot hope you had a lovely birthday and enjoyed every moment with your DW.

@RenegadeKeeblerElf whoop whoop, what’s the plan for your running now? Do you have a goal in mind?

It’s weigh day here and I’ve had such a whoosh that I’ve got on and off the scales 9 times over the space of 2 hours (hurrah for WFH). I have been completely in the zone this week, no snacks, no alcohol, litres and litres of water but still- I’m 8.5lbs lighter than last Friday. How is that even possible? BMI now 32.5 and only 9lbs until 10st which feels huge as a mini goal.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 16/01/2026 10:52

@Onenotsosmallstep thanks 🥰 Plan now is just to keep going and try and increase my pace to get closer to completing 5k in 30mins - although I've completed the programme I'm still very slow - last week I did parkrun (5k) in 48 mins with a few walking intervals. So for now I will just keep going out 3 times a week including parkrun as often as possible and see how it goes.

That’s brilliant, you’re my run-spiration! Week 2, run 2 planned for this afternoon here, weirdly I think I’m looking forward to it?

Not weird at all! I love my runs, nothing beats that endorphine high at the end!

eibbed999 · 16/01/2026 11:19

Fab catching up on all your news. I love that we share the good, the bad and the ugly here. Makes me feel so much more 'normal' if you know what I mean!

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden you have done amazingly well. Before I started the jabs I lurked on this thread, and read all the way from start to finish, and I always loved your posts - you had doubts but look at you now! I'm much slower (been on MJ since March, so not too far from a year) and have had lots of glitches, but I'm sure I'll get there in the end.

@Billybingbong - I've also ordered minoxidil tablets. Went down a bit of an internet rabbit hole with it all though, and emerged with even less of a clue! It's deffo not just MJ for me, it started years ago. The one consistent thing I came across was most of us needing more protein, so I'll work on that. I've also found that washing my hair twice makes it look less crap.

I'm glad my kids are pursuing their dreams and interests @Onenotsosmallstep - like you I'm proud of that, but I do sometimes wish they'd pursue dreams a little closer to home, not going to lie! Is your son still at Uni? And yes, hurrah for the super short Oxford terms!

Fantastic to hear about the losses this week, and the park run progress.

Week 80 on Mounjaro for me today. I am really really cross with myself, as I have had a big gain this week, and feel like I've set back my progress by about 3 months. Currently weighing in at 74kg which is 11st 9lbs, totally the wrong direction and is what I weighed at the start of November. My lowest weight a few weeks ago before Christmas was 71.1kg so I feel a bit despondent at having moved so far away from that and made no more downwards progress. I know that it's still a great weight to be at, and I am still very happy with my overall progress but frustrated that I have got so far off track.

I hate doing it, but I need to track every calorie for a few weeks and make sure that I am at least 500 cals below my TDEE. At my current weight, my TDEE is about 1800 so I need to stick to around 1300 and see how that goes.

I am trying to resist the urge to ignore the scales and not weigh myself, as that's part of what got me to 22 stone in the first place.

GnomeDePlume · 16/01/2026 11:37

I have an NSV!

Going into the office yesterday was fine. I didnt get into a sweaty mess on train or tube. The walk from tube to office was also fine. I was able to use the stairs without feeling like my heart was going to give out.

All just normal. Which is what I want. To be normal.

I am still only half way but getting there.

Fabulous, @GnomeDePlume !

I love your description of just feeling normal. That's exactly what it is. And so much easier. I would like to add to my feeling of normal as not being genuinely worried about how I am going to be able to move past people in a packed restaurant to get to the toilet. I used to sit and be worried and plan my route to disturb as few people as possible. Now I just wander through. If people have to move out my way that's ok, it's because the restaurant is full not because I am very fat.

Billybingbong · 16/01/2026 12:42

@eibbed999 I've just sent you a pm re your Hair + Me referral code. Thanks lovely

Fffreeeeezing · 16/01/2026 13:08

NSVs - just went for a blood test at the doctors and you have to wait upstairs for those, the waiting room up there is all narrow wooden chairs with wooden arms and I always used to perch on the edge due to the risk of pain and/or getting stuck. I walked in and saw the one armless wide (I'm assuming for fat people) chair on the other side of the room but decided to sit in the wooden chair by the door- I didn't even touch the sides of it when sat down.

Have also become aware lately that when I pass people on the pavements when walking the dog, they used to move over or even stop to let me have a big gap, not anymore, they keep walking in a straight line and don't even glance at me.

Low level NSV I think....... I had to go and get a second opinion on my knee injury this week. My weight was not mentioned once. Even when we discussed the surgery I am 99% going to need, my weight was not mentioned, even though I'm convinced they won't do surgery on someone with BMI over 40. My physio seems to think because I'm now so fit and super healthy (other than my knee obvs!) surgery won't be an issue, I wish I shared her belief as it's given me something else to worry about 😫

Fffreeeeezing · 16/01/2026 13:19

@Onenotsosmallstep wow, 8.5lb, amazing! I'm due a whoosh so I shall see if my scales can behave as well as yours tomorrow 😁

eibbed999 · 16/01/2026 13:34

That's crap, @SilenceInside. My recent crazy gain put me back to the same weight I was at the beginning of October - feels so frustrating. Like you I was also tempted to not weigh in because I knew it would upset me, but you're totally right - ignoring the problem is part of what got us into this mess in the first place! All power to you - as they might say in an American sports movie, you've got this!

Missingducks · 16/01/2026 14:34

Nsv : got through the gap between farm gate and electric fence without opening the gate (it opens on to the person opening it) and without getting an electric shock. Usually my dog and my husband go through the gap and I get whacked by the gate.

It's crap isn't it. No idea how j gained ten pound seemingly overnight. It will shift but as you say its months of weightloss

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 16/01/2026 16:50

NSV
My size 14 leggings (which I truly believed I'd never fit into) are now much too big.

TragicMuse · 16/01/2026 18:17

Great updates!

My NSV is that we had a walk at work today and I have just realised I didn’t need to stop and I didn’t get all breathless. And at the end I went back to my office up the stairs without even thinking about it.

We’re working towards a team 5k - walk, run, jog, whatever - in March and there’s an 8 week programme but I think I’m just going to go back to my old C25k which I used in 2013. I might get out on Sunday…

I don’t get exercise endorphins, so it’s never a high at the end but I do enjoy it once I’m out and I like seeing the progress I make!

Motnight · 16/01/2026 18:35

What lovely NSVs!

EnterSandfan · 16/01/2026 18:49

Wow @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden that's so inspiring! I'm jealous of your current weight, I've not been that weight since I was a teenager!
Super envious of everyone's NSVs too, it's too early for me to have any but I'm looking forward to some!
You've all got me thinking mad thoughts like signing up for park run even though I hate running with a passion 😆

I'm dreading weigh in tomorrow, had a McDonald's at the start of this week because I burnt the dinner 😂 I'm also struggling every week to believe the scale might go down, I'm so used to years of seeing it just go up!

Agree with pps about the need to weigh, for me if I look back at my weight logs throughout the years I can see that when I've not weighed myself for months at a time it has always rocketed up 😬

I was really nervous about changing supplier but I've just ordered from Bolt as they had a really good new customer offer. I thought changing would make things complicated. Although I do feel weird still about loads of pharmacy companies eventually having all my details and horrible photos of me 😆

Billybingbong · 16/01/2026 18:53

All this running talk gave me FOMO, so I've downloaded the Couch to 5k app, and did the first day today (on my treadmill). When I say I never run, I mean NEVER. I think the last time was literally when I was at school and I'm now in my 50s. So I was amazed that I managed to run even a few minutes, and actually enjoy it 😳

No parkrun today as I'm off to work in a bit, but a good loss. I think I recorded last week's as a kilo too heavy, so the big loss was actually last week, but still a good one today!

I was a bit gutted this week - I'd started doing little bursts of (very slow) running on my wee treadmill. Building it up, had reached 6 whole minutes and was enjoying the sense of satisfaction. Sadly I've had to stop, the ankle I broke and had surgeries on in 2024 just didn't like it. It was fine for a week or so and I was delighted, but then the pain kicked in and I was struggling to even walk without wincing. I've learned to listen to the annoying ankle, or it likes to show me who's boss. I used to read your running posts and think 'no way!' but I get it now!
