Well, some of us are new, some of us are nearly at our goal weight and the rest are still in the trenches.

Everyone is welcome here. This is a safe and supportive space for people with a lot of weight to lose.

I still miss crisps

So do I @Snowcat5

I used to buy a six pack and eat the whole lot.

Two weeks ago I bought a large packet of cheese and onion. It turned out to be a mistake, because I ate them all immediately.

All of which goes to show that I still need to not buy crap.

🤣

Hello everybody, I’ve just found this new thread so am posting to join it.
wow @MummyInTheNecropolisthat before and after picture is inspiring, you look amazing!
I started in the middle of August and so far I have lost 36lb. It seems to be coming off quite slowly given how big I am (24st starting weight) but the main thing for me is how much better I feel now. Before I started I had reached the point where I felt almost disabled and was struggling to complete basic tasks and sleeping a lot. This has improved massively, I feel well, have started going to the gym (a little bit) and am much less tired.
Today I’m attempting a 24 hour fast to give myself a bit of a boost because I felt like I was sliding into bad habits. I’m 19 hours in so far!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/11/2025 17:07

Hello @Rainbowcat77 I don't think that a loss of 36lb in three months is slow. It sounds like you're doing really well!
Good luck with your fast. I find them very difficult but they always pay dividends.

OP posts:
Rainbowcat77 · 30/11/2025 17:17

Thank you, no I suppose objectively it isn’t really that slow, it’s just slower than I would like but then I would like to diet for a week and lose half my body weight…wouldn’t we all 😆
The fast has been fine so far, I take Methotraxate for my psoriasis on a Saturday night and always have a little extra “restriction” on a Sunday. If it helps I may make it a semi-regular thing!

EverybodysALebowski · 30/11/2025 18:21

Annoying week with no loss, but that's probably inevitable given that I went to a dinner party with much too much wine and then out for a very big mixed grill the next day. At least there was no gain.

Getting back to normal today and doing my overnight oats prep for the week and drinking tons of water.

Ketra · 30/11/2025 20:07

I also love crisps and like others used to buy a multipack and wonder where it had gone a few hours later!

I have a number of food restrictions and didn't want to be too strict with my diet as I still wanted to enjoy my food, so I focused on changing my snacking behaviour to reduce consumption with a few rules - they might not work for everyone, but they are working for me:

  1. No storing food anywhere other than the kitchen (to avoid me bringing large packs into my study and troughing through them - I find the act of having to go downstairs to get a snack gives me the headspace to think about if I really want it)
  2. Only taking one snack at a time (I find if I am eating something my brain wants a larger portion so if I have some easily accessible I will eat it, whereas again the act of having to go to the kitchen to get it makes me ask myself if I really need more)
  3. Mixing up all my snacks. As soon as I get back from the supermarket I open all multipacks and mix up the individual packs into different mini storage containers. I have one mini storage container to eat through in a week, but it might contain say, 1 pack Skips, 1 pack Pom Bears, 1 pack Walkers Cheese and Onion, and then a mix of other snacks like cheese bites, Kitkats etc.... I find that also helps my stop eating multiple snacks in one go as before I would eat multiple packs because I was liking the flavour of that particular item, I didn't want a different snack. By only having different things available in that week's box, I can't just keep eating the same flavour (obviously I could break my rules and just grab multiple bags of the same flavour from the different storage boxes, but I think my autism actually helps me in sticking to my self-imposed rules here!).

I would eat them too
So I can't have them in the house ...I can't stand salt and vinegar ones ,so I am able to have those in for the DC ..but not any I ate in the past

Snowcat5 · 01/12/2025 05:08

PearlTeapot · 30/11/2025 14:58

@Snowcat5 you sound like your eating is so disordered now, what does an average week look like for you?

Have a diagnosis of autism and a lot of sensory issues around food ..nothing slimy, saucy, starchy ..I just gag ..
And I find something I like and just eat it all the time ..untill I feel ill at the thought and have to find something else .
But this is nothing to do with monjroro,Ive been like this as long as I can remember .
The wraps were perfect, because I'd got every food group in them and a high amount of protein,( which is important being vegan ),
This ..all this rediculous stuff is why I decided it wouldn't be best to have weight loss surgery..and how I ended up on monjroro.

Snowcat5 · 01/12/2025 05:12

I have always said ..if crisps were cooked in animal fat ,I'd never of got fat ..
But if it hadn't of been crisps ,it would of been alcohol, smoking, drugs ,.. something..to lean on ..
Having counselling at the moment..she's good ..but leaves these awkward silences just hanging ..and says it's my space to fill or sit quietly..as I choose..
All power to me I guess

Iwouldratherbesinging · 01/12/2025 07:50

Oh my goodness @MummyInTheNecropolis - you look incredible!

Motnight · 01/12/2025 07:51

Thank you @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne for starting this thread. @MummyInTheNecropolis you look brilliant.

Feeling a bit meh here. Finding it hard to lose weight at the moment. Will keep plodding on. Have lost just over 100 lbs. Would like to lose another 30 or so. Also went to the cinema yesterday and bought a bag of Minstrels. Not the size I would have normally bought, but not the smallest size either. Ate most of them and felt shit 🤣

Have you heard of /got ARFID? I have sensory issues around food due to my autism and have similar issues to you - issues with textures, limited range of safe foods, reliance on certain foods as bulk of my diet but having to be careful not to get sick of it. I have a lot of sympathy with your issues as I have the same and it makes working with any healthy eating plan almost impossible.

TheZingyFish · 01/12/2025 10:57

SW 24st 9lbs
CW 19st 2lbs
Total lost 5st 7lbs

Really pleased with a 3lb loss this week to take me to five and a half stone gone!!!

It feels strange to even be thinking about these numbers, I never thought I could achieve this even with seeing how well everyone else is doing.

I still have a long way to go, my current weight is not far off some people’s starting weight even in this thread, but I really couldn’t have got this far without everyone’s support. I feel so grateful for that as I know I couldn’t do this without you all, even being brave enough to actually start the process.

I love reading about people’s journeys, the good bits and the struggles as it shows that this isn’t easy and does require work and effort even with the MJ. So, I will finish this by saying THANK YOU!

Snap!
There could be five thousand packets of salt and vinegar crisps in my cupboard - they'd be quite safe.

But cheese and onion or prawn cocktail? Bring it on!

Yes, yes I'm exactly the same.

I went through a terrible phase of addiction to valium and other sleeping pills. It's kind of lucky that it's nearly impossible to get hold of them these days.

And when I lived in London, it was going to bingo. I loved it! The buzz. The possibility of winning loads of money! Can't do that here 'cause the nearest bingo hall is a hundred miles away.

I deleted all the online bingo apps from my laptop. It was too easy to spend all my money. I had to be very, very strict with myself.

I've never been addicted to alcohol though. Not yet, anyway.

Is it related to autism or something else? What do we all think? Most of us are autistic, from what I can gather over the last few threads.

Edited to add smoking! I knew there was another one. I gave that up in 2019, and that's when I really piled on the weight.

Sorry to hear you have similar difficulties..it does make life harder

I thought it was related to my parents divorce..I blamed that on everything..it was only when I was diagnosed with autism that I thought maybe that was at the bottom of it .
I have an addictive personality,so if it wasn't crisps ,I'd of found something else .I don't drink alcohol, because I started using it to get to sleep and began to rely on it ..
Then I found some painkillers from the chemist, that made me feel on top of the world...just everyday stuff available to buy in any chemist..and I find it bizarre it's just available..so I know not to buy that ..or I'd be on another slippery slope.
Gambling has never appealed to me though...but we thought about putting scratch cards in crackers at Christmas, and decided against it ,as we all have autism and or ADHD ,we just decided the high might to to much for us ,and lead on to one of us just enjoying it a bit to much

PearlTeapot · 01/12/2025 12:21

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne sorry I didn't realise I was on the old thread! "At home you'd have access to e.g. loperamide and senna yourself." I have access to everything here too don't worry, they're excellent. The ward doctors have and give anything you need. (Private hospital)

@Snowcat5 I can relate as I am also autisitic and have had eating problems my whole life i.e nothing wet. Can you put into ChatGPT what you can eat and ask it to make you some suggestions of meals that hits your food groups?

My adult son (aged 39) has ARFID @Snowcat5

He lives on Huel nowadays. That's all he'll eat apart from chips and the occasional vegan burger.

That's great @PearlTeapot and it wasn't my experience when I was a patient in a psychiatric ward. I found the doctors there were highly suspicious of any requests for medication that wasn't strictly psychotropic.

But I'm really glad they'll give you what you need if you have side effects from the 3mg MJ. What dose pen have you got now? I think you said you'd done 36 clicks from it (at the end of the last thread).

@Snowcat5 isn't it awful, having to constantly think about things like scratchcards! I like them, and do my best not to buy them. But when I do, and if I win, I feel fab. Temporarily lol.

You sound so like me. And your family. We're all autistic apart from one daughter.

Okay guys. I've just ordered a very small turkey for this year.

You know, I had a very brief moment of pity for my stupid husband. I imagined him on his own at Christmas.

The feeling lasted all of a minute. Then I remembered that he'd chosen to go. Arsehole.

He's still on his own. No other woman. I never thought there was. He just decided he didn't want to be with me anymore.
And I still don't know why. I mean, I have a vague idea, but it doesn't make sense.

@MummyInTheNecropolis you look fantastic! And you absolutely deserve to celebrate it!

I’m thinking about going to 5-day intervals…maybe, just to keep the levels up. That would see me jabbing tonight as my last was Wednesday last week. I haven’t decided yet.

Has anyone got pros and cons to add to my decision-making?!

Yes, I've been jabbing every five to six days for months.

For me, it works better like that.
