@Jins interesting re gums. I had the same last visit with my dentist equally impressed

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 18/11/2025 18:14

@myladyjane , fabulous vision, thank you 😍 .... please advise how I acheive 'avoiding any unsightliness or insects' 😂.

Well, update, orginal cottage is a no. I think I need to spend more, too much of a difference in what we have now to what we might have. Even the kids thought it wasn't right in person and they are very easy going.

Zempy · 18/11/2025 18:27

Your arms are amazing @HeidiLite!!

I ordered some wide leg jeans from M and S. The 8 was too big but the 6 fit perfectly. I know it’s vanity sizing but I still can’t quite believe I am size 6!!!

HeidiLite · 18/11/2025 14:36

Weight had gone upwards over the weekend, no wonder.
But increased calories must be at least partially going into muscle mass? I mean look at this:

You go girl! 💪

DGonMJ · 18/11/2025 21:05

Just here to ogle @HeidiLite’s guns! 💪

DGonMJ · 18/11/2025 21:15

I went to bed early last night and woke up just before 7. Managed a half hour peloton ride before work, so felt better today. Gonna try some dumbbells tomorrow, I’ll visualise @HeidiLite’s magnificent biceps to motivate me!

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty your description of kicking your ex out reads as an excellent pre-title sequence to hook you in to the great movie that @myladyjane has pitched.

cloudjumper · 18/11/2025 21:30

Nice guns @HeidiLite!

I had a bit of a set back - did my body metrics measurement at my gym yesterday, and I’ve lost muscle mass since the last time I did the scan 😫 Annoying! I have been consistently upping my weights in the last few months, so it’s the opposite of what I want to achieve. My coach said that it’s almost certainly due to not eating enough protein, so I’m back to tracking macros, sigh. I want to stop weighing everything I eat!!
However, everything else is going down, weight, BMI, body fat mass, % body fat, segmental fat - so I’m not overly sad.

MJalltheway · 18/11/2025 23:15

@HeidiLite that's seriously impressive! Joining in with the overall gun envy here! 💪
I've been to a kettlebell class this evening so working on my own, much more feeble biceps. They are at least slightly visible now!
@myladyjane fabulous movie pitch there!

Aimingdown · 18/11/2025 23:16

@cloudjumper I find the numbers on Boditrax jump around quite a bit, maybe depending on whether I'm hydrated, whether I've just exercised (you're not supposed to use it just after exercising) and I suspect a few random factors too. Everything I've heard suggests that it's not overly accurate. Obviously I believe it 100% when it tells me something good though 😉
I'm thinking I might get a proper Dexa scan sometime

cloudjumper · 19/11/2025 08:04

@Aimingdownyes, you’re probably right, need to take it with a pinch of salt. I’m struggling with hydration, esp now that it’s colder. I always measure before I exercise, so ok on that front.
ive been thinking about a dexa scan too, mostly out of curiosity. There’s no history of osteoporosis in my family (that I’m aware of), but I’m interested to know if/how my 20-odd years of weight training have had an effect 😉
Weigh day today, and we have a loss 🥳 Plus, I’m due a big 💩, so it might even be more than just measured 😄

BreezyPeer · 19/11/2025 10:09

Morning 🌄 losers!

Jins · 19/11/2025 10:37

Losers!!! I have news for you.

Cheeky weigh in this morning and I saw 8st 11.6. That is sooooo close to where I want to be, just to tick a goal off.

I’m going to bring my jab forward to tomorrow as I don’t really want to faff around taking it away for the weekend and that should help resist temptation. I have a bit of a thing for Betty’s florentines and could make a real pig of myself given half a chance. Really looking forward to going to York again. We’ve seen all the tourist things many times so I’ve bought one of those treasure trails and we’re going to do that on Friday. Not sure about Saturday yet as last time we went it was heaving with hen nights and not in a good way. Might revisit Castle Howard.

Have a great day all!

HeidiLite · 19/11/2025 11:15

what a massive achievement @Jins !

Thelittlestranger · 19/11/2025 12:34

Congratulations @Jins ! Love York, but have to agree on the people watching aspect on a Saturday afternoon...

@HeidiLite impressive guns. Do you think they were always that size, you just weren't able to see them as clearly? I used to ask myself that.

HeidiLite · 19/11/2025 12:42

@Thelittlestranger I've always been muscular, but there have definitely been some recent gains due to lifting heavier. Even DS mentioned the other day that my biceps are bigger now.

Zempy · 19/11/2025 13:20

Well done @Jins.

I love York. Have you done any of the ghost walks? They do a great one from outside the Golden Fleece. Lovely pub.

MJalltheway · 19/11/2025 14:25

have a fabulous time in York @Jins, I used to go often but now I live down south I haven't been for years.

i seem to have pulled something in my leg in the kettlebell class yesterday so have made the tactical decision to cancel my 2 classes today and rest up instead.

I was pondering how odd it is that it seems to be a pretty much universal experience that everyone's weight loss has massively slowed as they approach goal - regardless of what their goal is. My goal would give me a BMI of 22ish, but others have had goals of a much higher BMI or a lower BMI. It can't be a purely physiological effect, there must be a massive psychological component to it.

Jins · 19/11/2025 16:58

@Zempy we did the ghost tour ages ago and it was the best we’ve been on. (Edinburgh was good too but I was bitten by the poltergeist so I’m not repeating that). Might book onto one again.

HeidiLite · 19/11/2025 17:00

you were bitten by poltergeist?

Zempy · 19/11/2025 17:29

I wasn’t expecting that response @Jins 🤣

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 19/11/2025 17:40

Have you been to Treasurer's House @Jins, it is open for Christmas tours now, no booking required, I always pop in in November/December, it is lovely. Christmas market too so I expect it will be fairly busy in York itself. I think the snow/sleet is meant to stop so at least you should be dry.

No change in my weight here, still eating sensibly. I have had a small piece of bread every day this week though (55g ish). Homemade, high protein bread. It is so nice that I am going to stop buying bread and go back to making a loaf every week. I used a Paul Hollywood recipe and this flour, plus added seeds.

myladyjane · 19/11/2025 19:14

Goodness. That’s a frisky ghost

@HeidiLitei hope you kiss those mighty impressive guns.

i am a soft pansy southerner so have only been to York twice but I did love it. Traumatically though it’s also where my parents went on honeymoon so my mother goes misty eyed at the very mention. Shudder.

Weekly weigh in here and another 1.5lb off. 8.5lb to goal and 1.5lb to my 4 and a half stone off. My 12.5 pen got approved but also my suppression has kicked back in, sulphur burps and the shits back so I am going to be very very gentle with it.

@MJallthewayi know what you mean. Technically I still have 1.5 stone to a healthy bmi although am going to stop before then. My loss is still there now it’s 5lb per month rather than 7-8lb. I have lost a lot around my body though - my remaining ballast is most visible on my upper thighs which are still delightfully rural in nature. I think genetics is going to have the final say here.

DGonMJ · 19/11/2025 20:57

Evening losers!

Laughing at @Jins poltergeist lovebite, I wonder if that’s the answer for all unexplained bruises?

So for accountability, I did not do dumbbells this morning. In my defence, your honour, I did a single set of body weight exercises which is better than zero sets. Push ups for the guns. Lunges, squats and rear-leg elevated split squats (my nemisis) for the buns.

Appetite is a bit more under control this week. No evening puddings, just fruit and yog. But still reaching for two biscuits a day.

NSV - I had to film a team Xmas vid today, in a silly costume. I did not hate myself in it.

Work is still crazy busy. And only going to get busier. Can’t wait for the Xmas break. Have been thinking about Xmas day lunch and getting a prepped turkey crown so it’s just as easy as a regular roast. I usually do braised red cabbage, Brussels, roast pots/parsnips, PiBs, stuffing balls. What does everyone else normally do and do you think you’ll change it this year, or just go easy on portions?

And then I was thinking maybe some sort of Christmassy frangipane tart.

myladyjane · 19/11/2025 22:18

@DGonMJ I was talking to dh re Christmas today actually. I am genuinely not bothered about most of it. I also have a bit of a tricky relationship with Christmas food - I was bought up in a ‘feasting’ family and always enjoyed that but I have lost all my family other than my mum now. My own dh and kids like a bit of Christmas shite like chocs and picky bits but not the ritual of it or the big meals. I typically end up in tears over it as it makes me miss my loved ones very much but actually this year I’m feeling pretty indifferent. Not sure how I feel about that.

I do need to trial booze though. I have had one half a cider since January. Whilst never a big drinker I do fancy the odd gin or cocktail or sherry. So I need to have one in advance to see how I react.
