@cloudjumper I haven't renewed by membership to our local arthouse cinema because we have all found every film we have seen uncomfortably loud this year. They seem to have turned up the volume massively.

myladyjane · 22/11/2025 10:30

@cloudjumper dd and I went to see the first one but she’s not mentioned the second yet. I don’t love it as a musical and most of the good songs are in part 1 aren’t they. Also they closed our local cinema so it’s a 30 min drive to the next closest one which is a massive ballache as it’s in the big shopping mall place so packed at this time of year. Let me know if it’s worth it.

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty house hunting sympathies. It does have to be right though.

@BreezyPeer have fun!

I am putting myself on a social media restriction programme after waking up at 5.30 for a wee and not trying too hard to go back to sleep before I picked up my phone and wasted 2 hours on insta. Not cutting it out but cutting down.

I did get up, clean the bathrooms and do a short peloton weights session. Am now sat in Morrisons after dropping dd at athletics (she’s learning to be a coach so has to run the little kids sessions - ‘they are right little shits mum, we weren’t that bad -lol). Have done some vinting of stuff that was too big and made a good chunk of cash back. Then taking madam to some open day events then into the city for a birthday celebration of one of her mates. She’ll get the bus back but if the parking is ok I may do a bit of shopping.

i’ll be knackered by Strictly I tell you…..

HeidiLite · 22/11/2025 12:49

I agree with the 'feeling', DH and I both had it with the current house. Yes there are compromises, like that the garden is tiny, we have no view really (it's quite hilly here, so some houses have magnificent views) and public transport in the village is not great, so DC need to be taxied everywhere. But we still love the house.

Did a bodyattack class at gym this morning, plus weights for arms and back.
Now doing paint samples as I want to repaint living room walls. They are currently plan white. Well, were plain white, with 2 dogs rubbing against them, not so much any more.

Xmas apero with DHs hobby club this evening. Not too keen on that, I really don't care about the hobby so not like I can bond with anybody on that topic. Hopefully there will be other bored spouses present 😁

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 22/11/2025 13:06

Seen two houses this morning ⛔️.

@myladyjane I’m knackered just reading that! 🤣.

Day of chores here, I’m making a loaf of bread, minestrone soup for the week, tidying up in the utility room which looks like a 💣 has dropped in it. Pottering in general, friend popping in later. Relaxing day.

BlueLimes · 22/11/2025 14:38

Hope you get that feeling soon @PenelopesProteinPackedParty plus the hallmark movie that @myladyjane predicts.

these last lbs are sticky - I’m plodding on like a lively tortoise.

DD wants to see Wicked - I just want to feed Ariadne every tine I see a photo of her - poor girl,

Have a great weekend all.

tinyemmy · 22/11/2025 15:53

Thank you for sharing your workout plans! I need to have it booked in the diary or it doesn't happen, but I also need a plan B for when life gets in the way (hubby travels for work a lot).

My week is going to be:
Monday - office - just walk
Tuesday - workout in the morning (plus martial arts)
Wednesday - rest or workout if I wasn't able to on Tuesday
Thursday - office - just walk
Friday - workout in the morning at home (plus martial arts)
Saturday - strength circuits
Sunday - rest

This should fit in my third workout, plus two sessions pivoted towards weightlifting rather than circuits (so lifting heavier). One of those with a PT and the other set by the PT for accountability. We haven't discussed price. Hopefully it's not prohibitive!! I will cut my other gym membership down and I'm hoping this will be covered by that reduction 🤞

HeidiLite · 22/11/2025 16:27

yes having it set or it doesn't happen is why I teach the fitness classes - when i have one scheduled, I have to, no matter what else is going on.
PT sessions are great for that, or even just going to gym with a friend, I just agreed to pick a friend up for gym at 9 tomorrow morning - again much harder to decide that I just can't be bothered.

DGonMJ · 22/11/2025 19:13

Evening losers! I’ve had a busy day: hairdressers; friend’s for lunch; PT at the gym; weekend food shop; and now dinner’s in the oven - pork loin with roasted veg and buckwheat. I had to schlep through the rain avoiding puddles and umbrella crashes on my way to the gym, so I’m currently under a blanket on the sofa trying to stay cosy.

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty right there with you on not knowing when DC will move out! At 17 and 13 we have a few years, the 17yo will either be with us forever…or suddenly find his groove and become a fintech billionaire and move somewhere with brutalist architecture.

@tinyemmythat sounds v manageable. One approach I took to help a routine stick was to just vary the intensity of my exercise on days I didn’t feel energetic. Like a stretching session or a beginners-level body weight session.

@HeidiLite what colour are you thinking? And will it be from @myladyjane’s limited edition Farrow & Ball range?

Tomorrow will be a toasty stay at home day, apart from maybe a quick pop to the shops for the rest of the week’s food. I want to top up the soup in the freezer, and bake some healthy oat bars for the boys. Next weekend will be getting out the Christmas decorations.

HeidiLite · 22/11/2025 19:30

@DGonMJ it will be Dulux Taupe. Which is in fact not taupe ( which I understand as grayish beige) but it's a rather rose-pinkish beige. Will make the room hopefully a lot cozier.

BreezyPeer · 23/11/2025 08:07

Morning 🌄 losers! Xxx
Another new low weight for me this morning. I was out yesterday ( date/not date!) And I had cake and cappuccino in the morning and 3 courses in the afternoon at a pub! It's crazy.
I did an exercise session yesterday morning before I went out and I can feel it today. Walking today ( pre Christmas shopping) and then pilates tomorrow. Trying to get into the exercise groove.
@PenelopesProteinPackedParty I hope one of those houses is the one!
@HeidiLite good luck with the painting. I love a bit of decorating, makes such a difference to a room
@DGonMJ @tinyemmy thank you for sharing your exercise plans it so helpful to hear real life examples
Have a great Sunday everyone xx

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 23/11/2025 08:30

Morning @BreezyPeer , was this the real life date/not date - I hope you had a lovely time.

Also new low here - still slow but moving at least.

@DGonMJ I want my kids to know they've always got a home here. You just never know what they will be faced with in life do you (ND and MH issues). They're both really bright sparks/academic but I am not sure how one in particular will fare in the real world.

Horrible weather here, I've got a report to write so it won't affect me. I actually dreamt that I turned up to present my report and I hadn't finished it last night. 😫

Zempy · 23/11/2025 08:59

I like the sound of the taupe.

My scales aren’t working as batteries died and replacement batteries not working. I will try a new lot at some point. Back up scale also low battery and not working.

I have got new batteries arriving on Friday grocery shopping, and am feeling rather excited about not weighing for a week. I wonder if I will be able to maintain my weight without it? Slightly scary.

DGonMJ · 23/11/2025 09:25

Well done on the new low weights @BreezyPeer and @PenelopesProteinPackedParty

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty same on the ‘DC will always have a place here’ philosophy 😌

WI for me today is at 58.55kg. Up on Friday but down on last week, so will stick with the 2.5mg jab at some point today. Will be week 47. Not long till we hit our anniversary on this journey!

I had no idea I’d be continuing to take it for this long. I thought maybe 6 months. Then maintenance on my own. Still not sure how long I’ll continue to take it. It’s affordable right now, especially if I order a 5mg pen to take 2.5mg doses. Works out at £15 a dose, equivalent to a takeaway lunch if I was at the office. I’ve almost always brought a packed lunch since I started MJ - except on occasions where I’ve got lunch with a client or a visiting colleague. I’ve saved so much over the year (and spent it on new clothes 😆)

17yo DS is out today with friends. He hasn’t done this for about 2 and a half years. DH and I are quietly excited/nervous about this new development.

BreezyPeer · 23/11/2025 09:41

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty it was the organic date! It was lovely. We went to a museum and then had a walk and food.
I've put a stop to the app for now while I see where this goes

cloudjumper · 23/11/2025 09:50

The new Wicked film is soooo boring! Honestly, I wasn’t overly impressed with the first one, but this one is even worse. Too many storylines that don’t go anywhere, and it’s all left hanging in a very unsatisfying way. Don’t bother if you can avoid it. Ariana Grande looks slightly less anorexic in this one, but I reckon they’re using lots of CGI…
Currently at the DC’s swimming lesson, but hoping not to leave the house again after that. Lots of tidying, trying to help DS sort his (huge!!) Lego collection because he wants to sell stuff, DD needs to write her birthday party invitations, and we need to get the advent calendars down from the loft… might as well start putting Christmas decorations up! December starts in a week, now there’s a scary thought!

Ireolu · 23/11/2025 10:51

What a year. I have now reached goal and have started to wean. BMI is still in the overweight category. Have lost 31kg and thats fine for now.

Keen to come off the meds. Currently injecting every 10 days. On 7.5mg. Just ordered what will hopefully be my last pen. 5mg and plan to get 2.5mg out of that then stop!. I want to see what I am like without it in my system. Feeling positive and hopeful. Although I haven't posted much, I have read the Jan threads and egged us all on. Good luck everyone with this next bit.

myladyjane · 23/11/2025 11:35

@Ireolu congrats on reaching goal!

@BreezyPeer ohhhhhhhhhhh

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty @DGonMJ these kids are a challenge aren’t they. I feel it’s a bit two steps forward one back with highly anxious dd2 then I take my eye of feisty resilient dd1 and almost miss stuff with her.

@HeidiLite I’ve been caught out by taupe in the past so do make sure you test well and/or prepare to divorce. My living room has been pinker than I’d like for years…

HeidiLite · 23/11/2025 12:23

@myladyjane I have tested all the samples on the wall and we have carefully scrutinised them in all possible lights. I totally agree though that you absolutely must do that, the little sample cards are totally different colour - like the taupe really was greyish beige. Light makes a difference too, Dulux Gazelle is a lovely warmish grey in daylight but looked like prison in the evening, for example.

Kids indeed are a challenge. DD is quite gifted, but this year, the teachers complain she has no drive and interest, only wants to chat with friends. I'm honestly thinking about changing schools and putting her into one known for being super strict and demanding.
DS, who used to struggle, has totally changed though, does his schoolwork and getting really into nerdy things (which is great!). For Xmas he didn't ask for electronics but for a trip to an observatory.

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 23/11/2025 13:40

FInished my report chaps, just dressed and showered at last 🙃. I'm about to do a bit of online 🎄shopping before being Mum's taxi day and night. I haven't even opened all of the curtains yet!

I'm struggling with Christmas shopping, I just keep buying things for myself and my own kids rather than all the other people I have to buy for! Must get serious about it before all the discounts end.

MJalltheway · 23/11/2025 18:54

Been struggling to post this week, I've been super tired and lots of family stuff going on (as always).
Posting for weigh in :
SW 101kg
CW 71.6kg
GW 70kg

lost this week 0.4kg

Did another 12.5 jab from my 10mg pen this week. Still plodding on with the slow losses!

HeidiLite · 23/11/2025 19:51

slow loss is still a loss, @MJalltheway all the way!

One thing I find disappointing about weight loss - sports burn so much fewer calories! Classes where I could easily but 600-700 are now barely 300. Makes sense of course, but still annoying I now apparently need to work out twice as long for the same burn!

BlueLimes · 23/11/2025 20:27

So close @MJalltheway and almost at 30kg - amazing.

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty I’ve purchased a lot for me 😳 and DC. Planning to do most shopping online this week, it’s just close family we buy for now thankfully.

BlueLimes · 23/11/2025 20:28

Your arms are v impressive @HeidiLite

PenelopesProteinPackedParty · 23/11/2025 21:03

@BlueLimes I buy for about 12 people in addition to my DC (and myself 😂). I am lacking inspiration for about four of them, people with everything they want generally and lots of cash. I am the same every year tbh. I have made progress this afternoon, just those four people to go which is better than this morning.

I haven't eaten a great deal today, I wasn't hungry so had some soup and half a toasted sandwich for dinner instead of the food I'd planned, I didn't eat much of either which isn't very good.

BlueLimes · 23/11/2025 21:14

@PenelopesProteinPackedParty havevsome nuts?

the Bamford Geranium soap and lotion set is half price in spacenk of this works for anyone ?

Waterstones had lovely canvas bags and quirky gifts too.
