Morning lovelies! After a three week holiday with no access to scales, then a three day drive back from Spain where we mainly ate pastries and Maccy’s, I have finally stepped onto the scales… amazingly I have only put on 1.4lb!

This is the mounjaro effect in action. I’ve not eaten loads of food, mostly small
portions, but definitely “All the wrong things” including plenty of pastries and wine. I have done loads of walking, hardly used the car really, and 5 or 6 runs but also loads of sitting around watching Stranger Things! 😂

I feel like MJ has fixed whatever is broken in my body - this type of holiday would usually result in a several pound pile on, especially with Christmas as well. Needless to say I’m very relieved as I was getting a bit worried.

So back to the gym today, we’ve still got a load of chocolate and mince pies in the house, which will go down slowly over the next few weeks.

Well done everyone for losses and only tiny gains -

@saxonyv
Youve done exceptionally well to have become more mindful and not have gained a load over Xmas.

I did write a longer post yesterday and bloody MN lost it all when I tried to post, so this is a quick one today!

Uninvitedleaf · 19/01/2026 09:47

Hi everyone!

We’re back from our break as well (just a few days for us) and I’ve put on 1lb but that’s fine - it will all be salt and water retention as eating routine’s been all over the place so I’m confident it will drop off again straight away. I would say the only thing that I find a bit depressing about being on MJ is not really enjoying meals on holidays. We like a hotel stay rather than self catering but if I have a good breakfast I find I can barely eat later. Our holiday routine is very much running around doing stuff all day then finding a nice restaurant for dinner so I feel bad that DH quite often ends up missing out because I can’t manage anything so we need to just go for bar snacks for him or similar. I did book one restaurant where the only bad reviews were complaining that the portion sizes were too small (tasting menu) so that was perfect and it was great to eat without worrying I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy everything. Need more of that sort of thing 🤣. It’s his birthday tomorrow and we’re going out for dinner for that so I think I am going to be a bit naughty and just take a half dose on Wednesday this week. I was going to jab when we got home last night (normal day is Sunday) but I’m worried that if I do I’ll spoil the evening tomorrow by being anxious about not being able to eat anything. I won’t go mad but it would be nice to be able to just enjoy the meal without strategising around what’s the smallest thing I can order and how much of it can I eat/leave/take home.

Great to hear you’re still doing well @saxonyv. Also pleased your break has gone well @Pepperwaggytail, I know you were a bit anxious about how it would impact in terms of maintaining losses!

@wherearetheturrets fantastic. You must be so pleased really well done!

SusanSometimes · 19/01/2026 15:56

Well done @wherearetheturrets, that's amazing!

SweetChilliGirl · 19/01/2026 18:01

A nsv for me today. I reached goal weight about a month ago but have lost 4lb since then. On Saturday I ordered two Hobbs dresses on sale in size 10 - they arrived today and they fit! And look nice! If I were to lose another 3lb (which I don't need to and am not chasing) I would be 4 stone lighter than on April 20th when I first jabbed. I just can't believe it!

Pepperwaggytail · 20/01/2026 08:25

I’m definitely staying on MJ for as long as possible- hopefully the price will start to drop down this year as more rival meds hit the market including tablets. I’m on 2.5mg per week now and once I’ve lost my pesky 1.4lb Xmas weight gain (which sounds ridiculous to even think about it!) I’ll play around with dropping the dose even lower and see what’s the minimum dose I can stay on.

Well done SweetChilliGirl it's such a great feeling when a lovely dress looks great isn’t it? 😊. We have a Burns night event over the weekend and I’m hoping last years dress still looks ok and isn’t too big this year!

Thank you for the congratulations 😊

Squiffy01 · 22/01/2026 21:26

Weigh day for me and I lost 200g of the 400g I put on last week.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 24/01/2026 10:23

Well done all for the scales wins and NSV’s 💪. @wherearetheturrets congrats on getting under 10st. Thought I might get there pre Xmas as go to 10.1. Then went up to 10.6 and now back to 10.2. I’ve been doing more exercise (30 day Shred in progress) so hopefully am replacing some fat with muscle - not seeing it in the mirror but live in hope!

For the last 2 weeks I’ve gone down to 1.25mg and have 4 doses of this left. V nervous about coming off but will have to just take it as it comes and if I put on too much weight I’ll look at going on 1.25 long term.

SW 12.12
GW 10.5
CW 10.2

Very chuffed overall 🙌

Uninvitedleaf · 25/01/2026 11:14

Hi everyone, well done on all the progress!

I’m still just ticking along here - couple of pounds off this week so that’s the small gain from our week away gone plus a little bit extra, meaning I’m back on track. I had a lovely spa afternoon with friends on Friday and it was great not to be self conscious about things like the robe fitting me - rather than having to haul it shut to stop it gaping I felt quite smug wrapping it round 😂.

I’ve just ordered another 7.5mg pen but I’ve got a small stockpile (couple of shots left in my current pen and a full one in reserve already) so that might be my last one at that dose. I reckon if I can stick to 6.25mg I’ve got enough for 14 weeks which should be around another stone off for me at current pace. I’d still be slightly overweight at that but it might do me, so that could be the point where I begin titrating down. I do want to come off really slowly as I can tell the food suppression evaporates as soon as my levels get low so I need to make sure I manage that carefully. I might drop back to 5mg for the last half stone or so and see how that goes. If I stall there I wouldn't be too upset as long as I’m not actually gaining!

PhantomErik · 27/01/2026 09:44

Hi all I’m still here & very slowly still losing.

SW 16.6
CW 13

Been feeling a bit rubbish for the last few weeks, very low energy, actually falling asleep during the day & barely functioning. I’m pale & my hair feels flat etc I think looking critically at my diet it’s lacking almost everywhere. Not enough protein, vitamins or calories so after a good chat with DH & DSis (also on MJ) I’ve started taking vitamins & refocusing on protein. I think my dose might be too high because even the thought of swallowing vitamins made me feel sick let alone food.

I'm on 12.5mg but will try 10 & see if it helps my energy levels & overall wellness! I feel very weak right now.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 27/01/2026 10:41

Sorry to hear that @PhantomErik, sounds v demoralising. I’m taking iron, multivitamins, collagen and topical oestrogen! Also eat lots of eggs (brunch), protein and leafy greens. I know you probably don’t feel like it but exercise (leading to better sleep) always makes me feel better although not at the time 😖

Agree that a lower dose may be more appropriate and sustainable, even if weight loss slows. Good luck!

QS90 · 30/01/2026 09:36

Sorry you are feeling so rough @PhantomErik I think reducing your dose sounds very sensible in the circumstance! May be focus on (gently!) building muscle, rather than cutting calories and even try maintaining, rather than losing, for a few weeks? I think the goal of just losing weight, is easy to focus on, but is the real goal not to feel better? If you're feeling worse, it's a bit off x

QS90 · 30/01/2026 09:46

Just updating since switching to Wegovy -

I haven't found the suppression to be as good lately, BUT am reducing dose and started strength training, so that will factor into it too - not really comparing "apples with apples" as it were.

Nonetheless, haven't regained anything - obviously it's up and down now I'm in maintenance (and spikes for holidays / periods etc), but you can see the general trend is pretty stable.

I would say with Wegovy, my appetite is less, and hunger is less "urgent" when it strikes. But it's not in the MJ realm of just forgetting to eat all day. I feel I could overeat on Wegovy, if I put the effort in, whereas on MJ it would have been an impossibility. Again though, some of this might be to do with dose / gym.

Hope everyone is doing well. @mumof2studentnurse I think this is your username! How are you? X

QS90 · 30/01/2026 09:57

@pepperwaggytail It's interesting you say "I feel like MJ has fixed whatever is broken in my body". Michael Mosley (RIP), when he was purposely putting on weight for his research on the Fast 800, also found that his body was initially resistant to gaining weight / cholesterol going up etc. I recently listened to a Zoe podcast, that might explain it. Basically, when a person's blood sugar is shot, it makes the body feel hungry all the time, because the body can't accurately sense how much fat it is carrying. As it thinks it's starving, even as it's overweight, it puts measures in place to stop you from starving, so weight goes on a lot more easily. Once a person's blood sugar is improved, and consequently leptin(?) and the other hormones affected, are also stabilised, the body can "see" that it isn't starving. Quite plausibly, that was what was broken and is now fixed!

Goodness what a long and nerdy post!!

SunnySpellsAhead · 31/01/2026 11:48

@QS90 So very glad to hear Wegovy is helping and you're doing so well in maintenance, plus it's very reassuring about the body eventually resetting itself. The dilemma will be whether to trust that it does or to continue with the GLP1 meds indefinitely.

@PhantomErik Hope you feel better soon, a lower dose should help, as well as some good sleep and supplements. Incidentally, Which? has rated these vits as a good all rounder and good value: ASDA Wellbeing 1 a day A-Z Multivitamins & Minerals.

My update:
Back up to 157cm height again, must be the swimming stretching my spine out! Had a weird few weeks with a 3lb then a 1.6lb loss, rather glad it slowed to 0.4lb this week. I prefer a healthy slow and steady.

Anyway, I'm celebrating today (by having a little cry!!) as I've finally got rid of the 'Obese' BMI and am now 'Overweight'. Also, just 0.4lb off a 5 stone loss at 11st 8.6lb 🥳 I look at myself standing up and feel quite slender yet the flab just reappears as soon as I sit down, so will see what the next stone (or two) brings. Suspect the belly flab is here to stay though.

Hope you're all enjoying the bit of sunshine today ahead of all the rain to come next week. Roll on spring.

SeaDippingandLattes · 01/02/2026 10:40

Hi all,

Couldn’t leave the bloody expensive pen in the fridge or bin it so (against doctors advice) I’ve taken a couple of doses and have almost got off the Christmas weight/weight I put on after I was ill. So far haven’t been ill again (touch wood) - taking half the amount of last time.

Has anyone tried the natural GLP1 powders or anything whilst weaning down/coming off? I need something for the transition period as I was bloody starving and back to feeling shaky and hungry throughout Christmas again.

Bra size has gone from 38HH to 34G which I’m bloody delighted about :)

@mumof2studentnurse how are you getting on??I thought of you over Christmas and hope that you are managing ok xx

RhaenysRocks · 01/02/2026 11:44

Hi all. Just checking in as I have FINALLY broken into the 11 stone and single digit bracket..been lurching between 11.10-11.12 for a month!

Well done to all, January behind us, looking ahead to brighter mornings and maybe enough daylight for a walk after work.

Uninvitedleaf · 01/02/2026 12:47

Hi everyone

@SunnySpellsAhead thrilled for you on the BMI front, it seemed to take me ages to dip below 30 and I only got there a few weeks ago - remember feeling like it was such a major milestone so I completely get the emotional response to that! I’m also off to check my height now as I was so annoyed when I realised I had lost an inch or so (I’m really short so every cm counts). I’ve been doing better with exercise since Christmas and have joined a lovely yoga class, I hadn’t thought that it might stretch me out a bit height-wise as well as everything else but that would be an added bonus if it does 😂.

@SeaDippingandLattes hope you are OK with resuming the jabs. I haven’t tried anything else but I’m coming round to the idea that I might be microdosing for a while after I reach goal (obviously not an option for you so hope you can find something else that helps). If it’s the same Zoe podcast I’m thinking of that@QS90 mentioned it made a lot of sense to me as well, I think it’s going to take a long time for my brain to stop screaming at me to eat more without the MJ. Hoping a period of adjustment on a low dose will help reset that before I stop altogether although I’ve still got over a stone to lose before I really need to think about that.

I’m hovering around 10st8 currently @RhaenysRocks so I’m encouraged to hear you’ve started dropping again after a bit of a stall. I think this might be another “set point” for me although I haven’t been this weight for 25 years or so, so it’s hard to remember!

OP posts:
RhaenysRocks · 01/02/2026 15:48

Frustratingly the shotsy app says my BMI is 30.8 so still just obese. Dying to get out of that!

Uninvitedleaf · 01/02/2026 16:14

I got so fed up consistently seeing 30 point something I resorted to trying both imperial and metric on the NHS app just so I could have it go below the cut off (I’m 153cm but that converts to a slightly shorter 5’ which makes all the difference 😂).

OP posts:
PhantomErik · 01/02/2026 16:15

Thank you for all the kind comments it really means a lot.

I’ve decided to go back to basics, I’ve downloaded my fitness pal to monitor my calories & protein etc & am reducing my dose to 10mg.

I’m going to concentrate on health & hope for weigh loss as a side effect. I weighed 13 stone for years so wondering if this is a ‘set point’ for me.

Reading other people’s experiences & nsv really help.
