I'm in the 11's! Only just but this is the 1st time ever that I'll be recording a loss in the new year. Think swimming has helped. I've been a non-exerciser all my life but this is definitely my exercise of choice now. Also, just been reading how good it is for firming loose skin:

"Stimulates lipolysis (fat release) in your hypodermal adipocytes (fat cells inside the skin), to keep your skin fat-free.

Stimulates fibroblast collagen and elastin synthesis, to keep your skin firm.

Stimulates circulation / lymphatic drainage."

Hope this is all true. Re-evaluating my own loose skin, I do think it has slowed and isn't looking quite as bad as I thought (mainly under bum/tops of legs). Would be great if the swimming firmed it all up 🙏

Is this just swimming or does all exercise help?
Well done for recording a loss over the New Year! 😊

SunnySpellsAhead · 07/01/2026 13:25

@Pepperwaggytail I was specifically looking at swimming (to alleviate guilt for doing no other exercise except walking and odd weights!), so other exercise not mentioned.

Galadali · 07/01/2026 16:45

Signing in after a long time to refresh my accountability. I actually haven't had any significant loss since September, but as I've been in "wintering" mode I'm quite happy with staying steady. I'm about halfway to my target so need to push myself a bit harder to get there by the summer. Unfortunately I've had flu, so haven't been to the gym for a couple of weeks, but hoping to get back in the saddle soon.

SW 14st 12.5
CW 12st 1
GW 9st 12
Total loss 2st 11 (2st 3 to go!)

QS90 · 07/01/2026 17:19

That's encouraging @SunnySpellsAhead - swimming is my excersize of choice too! Well done reaching the 11s btw, it's always nice to see a new (lower!) number on the scales.

Re skin firming, I've been using a very low retinol body lotion on the bits I'm a bit dubious of. Might be worth a look, if you are conscious of it? The lower strength ones can be used on larger areas, apparently. Also affordable compared to using the strong face stuff, all over!

Squiffy01 · 08/01/2026 12:42

Weigh day today.

Haven’t Weighed since before Christmas think on the 16th as was away for two weeks.
-4.4lbs which I will take as was certain I would have a substantial Christmas/holiday gain.

Cerberus1808 · 10/01/2026 16:52

Its not official till Monday but I did a sneaky early weigh this morning and for the first time in my entire adult life I'm now a healthy bmi ❤️
Never been this low in living memory and being mixed heritage I've needed to get my BMI to 23 to get to this stage. So happy

So pleased for you @Cerberus1808 What a milestone! Are you moving on to maintenance now?

Uninvitedleaf · 10/01/2026 18:43

That’s brilliant news @Cerberus1808 .

I have the same scales as you! Mine are still showing well into the 10s though.

Unfortunately not yet. I want to try and get down to 9st ish to give myself a bit of a buffer for when I wean myself off it

Uninvitedleaf · 11/01/2026 10:16

Jab and weigh in today and I’m 2.4lb down which was a bit of a surprise as it’s been a very inactive week (weather related excuses!). I guess maybe still post-Christmas adjustment as that’s a lot for me in a week. We’ve got a few days away coming up so I’ll see how I go after that.

Has anyone else been a bit spooked this week by the reports on the BMJ study showing that post-WLI weight gain bounces back quicker than other methods? I know we’re all pretty focussed on changing habits for good but it has made me worry a little bit about keeping weight off long term, even though I’ve got a good few months yet before I’ll be thinking about maintaining. I really don’t want to put this weight back on!

QS90 · 11/01/2026 12:14

I did hear about the report @Uninvitedleaf although I haven't read it, so don't know the details. I presumed it was due to people having lost muscle mass whilst slimming down? So having lower metabolism? Either way I think it's a good idea to improve body composition before weaning off.

Alternatively a lower dose of Wegovy might be a cheaper option long term. I've been using it this week and haven't noticed any difference to MJ 🤷‍♀️ Except possibly my alcohol tolerance is less on it / wine makes me feel a bit sicky, but it's such a random thing I wonder if it's even related.

Cerberus1808 · 11/01/2026 16:42

Is anyone's brain having trouble catching up? I still can't get my head around the fact that I'm 5+ stone down and now fit into a size 10, down from a 18/20.

It's such a mind f*ck....

Uninvitedleaf · 11/01/2026 20:10

That’s a much more inspiring article @QS90, thanks! I’d only read the BBC summary of the other one but it seemed relatively well written and sensible in terms of reporting the findings so was a bit scary - basically they’d done a meta analysis of a number of different studies and found that people losing weight on WLIs put it back on again about four times faster when they came off than people who’d lost similar amounts with other methods. I am hoping it’s just an example of the effect of going ‘cold turkey’ when stopping as these were clinical trial data so I suspect the participants didn’t titrate down to give time to adjust. They do say that!

@Cerberus1808 yes I’m struggling with sale rails. I still keep trying to look at the size 16-18 labelled sections. I also can’t see the difference at all in the mirror, other than probably a bit in my face, which is ridiculous as I’ve gone down at least three sizes and I can physically see how much smaller all my current clothes are. I think I’ve got quite a distorted view of what I look like in general, I didn’t have a realistic view of this when I was bigger and I still don’t now.

This does have some advantages though. I am only 5’ and people are frequently surprised by this when they stand next to me. Most memorably, I was once told that this was because I “project taller” which I assume is because I don’t think of myself as short 😂😂

Agree, although I can see it in the mirror to an extent. I have already had to put extra holes in my belts and I realised yesterday that I am going to have to make some more. Having read Dr Michael Moseley about diabetes, that is particularly satisfying. I measured my waist at the beginning but not since so will do that soon and compare.

QS90 · 11/01/2026 23:14

Sounds like the paper doesn't tell the full story then @Uninvitedleaf If those in the study had prepared for coming off, it would likely have been different. At the very least, the weight regain would have been much less dramatic. Worst case, we'll have to stay on the drug and be poor. But also slim and biologically young. Kind of like a 2nd chance at our 20s 😂 but with an office job and a mortgage.

Checking in for weigh and jab day
W39d1
SW - 13st11.8
CW - 10st3.4lbs (1lb gain)
total loss - 3st 8.4lbs
GW - 10st

very noticeable increase in food noise since I went down to 10mg :( however I am also doing dry January so possibly some can be attributed to that in the sense of trying to unwind/have a treat to replace having an alcoholic drink as a treat. Frustrated that I still haven’t made it to goal and feel like maybe I should have waited another month to begin titrating down! I’ve only really started doing that because affording it is becoming more difficult (also being so close to goal), but I wish I’d given myself at least a few pounds below goal as a bit of a buffer.

Hope everyone’s good, I wish you all a pleasant week 😊

This is me too! I am getting slowly getting better at judging my new size, but most of my jeans are too big (even with those Amazon metal buttons added to make the waist smaller) I feel that I look scruffy and sloppy in a lot of my old clothes. I love how I look in gym wear now though! Whereas I used to feel so self conscious.
The trick is to wear tighter clothes which show off the shape of your new body, but most of us are programmed to do the opposite, and even writing the words “show off” make me feel uncomfortable. It’s not “showing off” is it? It’s wearing clothes that actually fit! 😂
Mind f*ck indeed!!

QS90 · 13/01/2026 22:02

@Pepperwaggytail I hadn't even thought of it like that, but yes it is just weaing properly fitting clothes isn't it? I'm comfortably a Size 14 now, slowly building my new wardrobe so I don't end up with a load of tat again which is too good to throw out, but too sh*t to actually throw out either.

I noticed today I have a waist. Presumably it's been there a while as I'm losing very slowly now I'm weaning off? Still favouring oversized and flowy clothes, although not convinced they're doing me any favours.

PhantomErik · 14/01/2026 15:28

Hi everyone, I’m still plodding along.

SW 16.6
CW 13.2

I’m much happier & healthier overall but maybe a bit fed up of very slow losses. However I’m also a bit lacking in enthusiasm to try harder at the moment. Food doesn’t really interest me which is nice but exercise doesn’t either, I feel quite ‘safe’ just plodding along for now.

I would very much like to be just overweight instead of obese so that’s my interim goal. Also just booked a summer holiday so will need a few new clothes so another goal to work towards.

Squiffy01 · 15/01/2026 20:43

Week 41 weigh in today for me and I gained 400g. My first gain since being on MJ. I’m more upset about it than I should be.

QS90 · 15/01/2026 22:32

Sorry to hear you're disheartened @Squiffy01 400g is less than a lb though isn't it? Could literally be anything - water from a salty meal or a workout, or even gas when it's that tiny. I've had lots of weeks where I've "gained", but it's come off again after a few days, and I'm lighter than I was before the "gain". Truly, it's surprising you haven't had it before now so don't worry (easier said than done I know) x

saxonyv · 18/01/2026 09:01

Well according to shotsy the Mj is all out of my system!

I have put on 2lbs BUT my water intake is always rubbish in January because I hate drinking cold drinks when the weather is so grim.
Im still feeling ok in terms of hunger, I can now recognise that I’m actually not hungry (which I couldn’t pre Mj) but I do feel a bit more picky for food that I fancy.
im trying to just be mindful of it at the minute and I’m back to logging all my foods to keep myself in check.

I’ve had a few comments recently about not losing any more weight which I find very tiresome as nobody said that I needed to stop putting on weight when I was in the obese bmi category! I’ve remarked back that actually my weight is in the healthy bmi!

SW: 14st 7lbs
CW: 10st 4lbs
GW: 10st 7lbs originally but am aiming to stay within 10st and 10st 4lbs

QS90 · 18/01/2026 20:14

That's amazing @saxonyv ! I can't remember, did you manage to stay on a lowish dose throughout and wean off?

saxonyv · 19/01/2026 07:52

@QS90 thank you.
Yes a low dose, I did the majority on 2.5, went up to 5 for a few weeks but didn’t feel well so went down to 3.75 and then the price rise happened so I went down to 2.5 and finished completely in December
