Hey all..sorry I've been. AWOL a bit but FINALLY got to 11.13 today 💪. I was on 12.10 in September when I went back to school so really pleased. Would love to hit 11.7 ish by Xmas. I don't really have much of a sweet tooth so I'm not too worried about Xmas..if anything gets me it will be cheese and red wine. I am drinking more now it's cosy evenings and wine time but moving up to 7.5 has maybe helped. I've got a golden dose left in my 5 pen which will be a little over 5 so I'll cope with that til my 7.5 arrives...not liking the £200 price though 😕

Morning everyone!

Well as predicted I had a tricky week with a few meals out with family/friends to negotiate with the result that my official weigh in shows 3.2lb up. I know that’s not accurate and will come off again straight away, I kept an eye on calories and there’s no way I ate 10000 extra over the week, but it’s still annoying.

Something from that Zoe podcast that stuck with me was “it’s not the calories in your food it’s the food in your calories” and I think that’s what’s going on here. Unfortunately the people we were seeing this week will only really eat cheap pub food - won’t let me cook instead as going out is such a treat, won’t consider something like a curry where I could at least have fresh veg and plain rice. I think I’ve always struggled a bit at these places but would put up with it, but I really don’t know what to do now. I’m actually starting to resent having to eat the stuff. Maybe I’ll eat before we go next time and then just order something but not consume any of it. Not going is not an option as there are elderly relatives in the mix who we wouldn’t really see otherwise!

Edited

“it’s not the calories in your food it’s the food in your calories”

That’s really helpful. Could also be re-written as

“it’s not the calories in your food it’s the UPFs in your calories”

I really think that’s why the USA was the obesity capital of the world - because of the food industry - industrial chemicals in everything, so much consumption of what was called ‘convenience’ foods, the whole explosion of the snack phenomenon/industry/experience, take always, drive thrus - advertising and foods developed that are actively addictive - so people eat / graze all day long.

There used to be a time when you went to the US (80s/90s) and were shocked by the number of larger people compared to the UK. Sadly we have since caught up but you can also see other nuances like poverty and obesity. So that some people (especially children) can be “overfed and undernourished” - because imperishable UPFs are always within arms reach - instant and constant gratification.

I had a 3 week holiday to a less developed country a few years ago where all the food was whole and prepped daily, no access to UP snacks, and my body just deflated. I often think it’s not always adipose tissue that we are carrying but some sort of fluid of toxins bloating our cells.

SunnySpellsAhead · 17/11/2025 12:20

Yes, agree UPF's are the devil's work. I've got a stash of books on the subject to read, which is going to be part of my coping with Christmas strategy. I aim to be totally disgusted by all the festive products that I'll sail past those shopping aisles, and will have other non food rewards planned. I'm currently going through all my cookery books too and waving farewell to all the baking and dessert ones. This has got to be a change for life and luckily, I've always loved vegetarian foods, just got to start cooking from scratch more.

I'm with others on the crap pub menus too. Always loads of meat, boring veggie choices, burgers, chips, it's a battle. Drinks are even worse as I'm limiting alcohol and everything else is awash with sweeteners.

Hope you all have a good week, especially those of you suffering with one thing and another. Piles sound nasty, suppose there has to be some downsides to MJ 😟

Uninvitedleaf · 17/11/2025 18:45

On the not UPF, nutritious food can I recommend this to anyone seeking inspiration? It’s a veggie recipe we really like, we had it tonight. The opposite of rubbish + chips! Even just the chickpeas on their own are lovely if you want to reduce the calories and/or make it vegan.

I air fried the halloumi so even that was relatively OK.

@Uninvitedleaf thats for sharing that recipe looks delicious and will be trying it this week or next for sure!
I feel like I’m in such a rut with meals that we eat the same things again and again.

blanketsnuggler · 17/11/2025 22:33

just had some blood tests done today to investigate my hair loss. Dr appointment next week to discuss.

Trinko · 18/11/2025 00:08

We get a meal recipe box which is vegan called Grubby. It really is amazing. We don’t even choose our meals because everything is always wonderful. We always count up our plant points per meal and it’s often 10+ which is great for gut biome (should aim for 30 different plants per week - tea, coffee, herbs and spices count). I am a rubbish cook and a huge procrastinator and this process makes me feel accomplished - even though all I do is chop veg - all the food is very tasty lots of Middle Eastern dishes with legumes etc to fill you up. We used to get Hello Fresh veggie and it was always cheesy, fatty, bland pastas.

SusanSometimes · 18/11/2025 00:24

Hello, you lovely lot Smile I'm very lazy and don't post much, but I thought I should post on the nice new thread. Everyone is doing so well, it's fantastic to read about all your successes.

I'm still losing, nice and slow as always but I'm good with that. I'm just over two and a half stone down, but nowhere near maintenance like a lot of you. Ideally I want another three gone, but we'll see. I'm in it for the long haul, really. I'm postmenopausal so kind of expected it to be a bit of a slog. I just increased my dose to 6.25mg to see if it'll speed things along a bit, I was reluctant to go up but the suppression has been easing off so it was time.

However - I have a significant NSV which makes me feel really chuffed. I am now officially overweight and not obese! Also, I tried on some clothes yesterday that had been too tight, and now they are too big. They are new with tags, so I guess I need to figure out how Vinted works. Onwards!

TheCaloricDecline · 18/11/2025 17:44

Well, I am now on 33 weeks. I have so far lost 43lb. I have been losing on average 1.3lb per week. My BMI is now overweight, at 28. I started on 2.5mg for about 8-9 weeks and then went to 3.75mg and have stayed there since.

I am starting to feel happy in my size, I am around a 12. I have gone from a 16-18. I have hip bones and muscle definition. I am able to build muscle quite easily and I have always worked out and lifted weights, just never been able to shift a significant amount of fat like I have on WLI's to get my BMI below obese.

I am worried if I aim to get my BMI below 25 so at a 'healthy' weight, I am going to look to 'skinny' for my frame.

To get my BMI to below 25 I need to lose another 25lb and that will only take me into the just 'healthy' BMI.

At what point do you stop chasing weightloss. We get very fixated on BMI. Can I settle at say another 9lb loss and then maintain.

Will it be so bad if I don't get under the magic number of 25?

We have literally just started with Gousto - and not had a veggie version, but I have to say I’m impressed! It’s so easy because everything is measured out for you - saves so much time! Even the hubby liked it!
Im not a very good cook really, and the instructions are really clear and in easy steps. Plus loads of recipes which saves a lot of thinking time for me!

We have been feeding a family of 5 on the 2 person boxes - we just add in extra to bulk it out - so add range of extra veggies (often sweet potatoes done in the air fryer) or and extra tin of lentils, chickpeas or tofu depending on the recipe. We get 3 a week and sometimes it’s a push to get through them if we are out etc - but even if the cost of the ingredients don’t add up to half of the cost - I am aware that we spend less on food overall and there is no wastage. It takes all the procrastination, dread, planning, thinking, drudgery out of feeding the family and we really haven’t had a bland meal once.

Uninvitedleaf · 19/11/2025 10:05

@blanketsnuggler hope the blood tests are OK and rule out anything other than weight loss as a cause 🤞🤞. Let us know if you feel you can.

@SusanSometimes congrats on the NSV, I’m in a very similar place and hoping to join you on the overweight side of the line very soon! I’ve just gone up to 6.25mg as I felt losses have really slowed. I’m also about 2.5st down and aiming for another 2 or so - will see how I feel when I get there. Just above 11stone at the moment (all that gain from the pesky pub rubbish from last week has dropped straight off again thankfully) and once I get into the 10s I’ll be overweight instead of obese so hopefully there within the next 10 days or so.

@TheCaloricDecline I’d think if you have been building muscle you’d want your BMI on the slightly high side - we know it’s a bit of a blunt instrument and doesn’t work as well for people who have more muscle. Have you got any way of measuring body fat percentage? My (fairly basic) scales do this and I am constantly horrified by it, but yours would probably be far more reassuring!

OP posts:
TheCaloricDecline · 19/11/2025 18:16

@Incognitoburrito88 Yes, that is probably a good way to look at things. I do have a pair of callipers somewhere which may give me a rough indication of body fat. I just get the BMI stuck in my mind and find it hard to look past, especially as whenever you go to the GP/medical professional, that is the one number they tend to judge you on. I just need to get past that.

wordywitch · 19/11/2025 18:36

I’ve been on 10mg for quite awhile now and am struggling to lose the last few kilos to get to my goal so I went up to 12 today. Feeling a bit nauseated and burping lots but hopefully this will kickstart things again. I’m only just into healthy weight range (24.7) so want to get that down a little more before I move into maintenance.

Uninvitedleaf · 19/11/2025 21:00

Well I have a weirdly satisfying NSV. For years I have struggled to cross my legs (thigh over thigh) in one direction but not the other. Can’t actually remember which one used to be the good one, I always assumed my hip on one side was just a bit less flexible than the other. Now suddenly they both work and I can pretty much wrap my foot behind my calf regardless of which leg’s on top.

I don’t think it’s a terrifically healthy way to sit but I am having to resist trying odd contortions just so I can admire my svelte legs 😂.

After posting at the weekend I’ve dropped another 2lbs so I’m hoping it’s on the way down again. The plateaus are really demoralising. The messages on here have been very helpful for thinking clearly, I’m so grateful to everyone who posts.

I’ve been on 10mg for 11 weeks & thinking of moving up to 12.5 but sometimes I’m so tired I can’t get through the day without a nap & even then I’m not really with it. Obviously that’s not a great way to live so I will stick at 10 for a bit longer. Also suppression is still pretty strong.

I’m not counting calories regularly because I as so obsessive about it previously that I don’t want to go back to that mindset. I counted them on & off over the weeks when my weight stayed the same & was always within the allowance. I think my body is just adjusting as my shape has improved, even my dreaded overhang tummy looks smaller/higher which I’m happy about.

I would love to be 12 stone something for New Year, currently 13.4 so fingers crossed!

ClimbingKilimounjaro · 22/11/2025 21:38

Hit 5 stone loss, only 1 stone left to go!

Feeling good about my size, but starting reformer pilates to start the process of toning as I have a fair old whack of loose skin and wobbly bits!

Still utterly terrified of maintenance though.

Squiffy01 · 23/11/2025 10:31

@ClimbingKilimounjaro well done on hitting the 5 stone mark!

I can’t remember if I posted loss this week? So apologies if I’m repeating myself. -1.5lbs this week. In total 33 weeks loss is 5 stone/71lbs/32kg. BMI currently 21.

I have a blood test next week as I’ve been getting a bit dizzy and super tired so they will check iron levels amongst other things to make sure everything is in normal range.

Uninvitedleaf · 23/11/2025 16:06

Just checking in! As I thought it would all that pub food weight came straight off again so I have dropped 2.9lb which is a lot for me in a week (usually a steady 1-1.5lb). Bodes well for any temporary Christmas gains!

I’m still just above 11stone so hoping next week’s check in will see me drop. below that which will also mean BMI below 30 finally 🤞

Hey all..well done to everyone..how are we all feeling about Xmas? To be honest I don't usually eat more ..maybe cheese and wine will be an issue but not much if a mince pie fan. My NSV though...my favourite jeans that I couldn't get past my thighs and haven't worn since 2018 but refused to get rid of ... wore them out to dinner on Saturday night 😁😁😁. And got greeted by the owner, who knows us with "you look very thin"! I was scrolling back looking for a recentish photo of me and my DS and the first one I found was from Easter 2024. Definitely not thin in that one so feeling quite chuffed today. Would love to shift another 5lb or so before Xmas.

SeaDippingandLattes · 24/11/2025 21:16

Hey 👋
weight up two pounds over the weekend. First time it’s gone up since April. I delayed taking injection for a few days and appetite came back - enjoyed vegan milk chocolate buttons, some crisps, mc Donald’s hash brown, cherry cake :) back on it again today.

having blood tests done Thursday re the hair loss and the dizzy spells.

GP said could be mounjaro, could also be significant stress (had a lot to deal with over past few months).

fucking dowsing myself with the Champo 😂

bought lemonade dolls bra to try - I’m pleased it does up but still a bit of spillage out the cups. If I can just lose the last 7 pounds I think it may work for me. Pleased with that as I was 36hh at the start and that bra is a 34 ff I think. Would be nice to get away with wearing a comfortable bra without wire.

NSV
working in a school in London last week and hadn’t been for a couple of months. One of the lovely TAs gestured across the room (signing injecting 💉 then raising hands in this motion 🤷‍♀️?) I then gestured back this across the room…💉🤰👍 she then does this 👍 followed by pointing to me and then her neck (in an elongated position with a long hand swooping motion) and then does this again but this time with two of them 👍👍. I’ll take that as a win although I did think ‘fuck me….did I have a fat neck/no neck before as well as a fat foof 😂’). It’s funny what people say and do when you become a bit less fat 😂.

well done all with loses and hope everyone having a good week! X

Weigh and jab day
W33d1
SW - 13st11.8
CW - 10st5 (2lb gain)
total loss - 3st 6.8lbs
GW - 10st

I was due to jab on Friday and just kept forgetting! So done today. Have had a gain this week (week and a half I guess), didn’t notice an increase in appetite so a little surprised but not especially upset which is a good thing. Fingers crossed for a loss this week. Hope everyone is well :)

Pepperwaggytail · 25/11/2025 17:47

Hello everyone- I’ve actually lost a couple of lb this week. I was 9st 8.6 this morning, which was a surprise because I had half a bottle of red wine on Sunday! I’ve increased my dose back to 4mg (well 44 clicks of a 7.5 pen (whatever that works out to be!) I just checked and it’s actually a dose of 5.75mg. I’ve got no side effects this time which is great.
I wanted to get to 9st 7lb, so im pleased that a small increase has got things moving again. 😊 Hopefully another week and I’ll drop back down to 2.5mg and do further maintenance

Uninvitedleaf · 25/11/2025 19:59

@wherearetheturrets my weight always goes down in the middle of the week then bobs back up at the weekend on jab day so could something similar be going on with you if you’ve recorded on a different day to usual? I’m about 2lb lighter today than I was on Sunday - but half of that will go back on again by my next official weigh in!

I’m the same - usually my weight goes up a couple of pounds after a gym or run day, then that comes off over the next two days. I’m still fighting with my head over the numbers on the scale. 🥺 it’s really not the be all and end all, but we are conditioned after years of dieting to think it is.
