@Ihateslugsglad to hear you’re on the mend now! Just wanted to say thank you for your advice about Mounjaro and operations, my friend is due to have the same op as you and I asked if they’d given her a timeframe to be off Mounjaro and they hadn’t. Anyway, she spoke to her consultant and they’ve got her off it in time to have her operation in 2 weeks. If it wasn’t for you they’d have cancelled the operation on the day if they’d realised, or it could have caused huge complications if they hadn’t. All is well now though.

i hope the recovery continues smoothly.

Today’s my tenth wedding anniversary - I had a target from back when I started to be back in the 11s for my wedding anniversary. Well I missed the target, but as you can see from this morning’s weigh-in, I got bloody close!!

We’re having the weekend away celebrating by staying in the hotel we stayed in on our wedding night so it will be quite foodie etc but feeling really chuffed I can enjoy wearing my clothes and feel good about myself

I am pleased that my experience helped your friend, after psyching yourself up for an operation or waiting a long time in a list, the worst thing is it being cancelled at short notice. I was facing that the afternoon before surgery when the anaesthetist queried something dodgy with my heart in the pre op tests I’d had. Fortunately for me I was a private patient so they were able to arrange an appointment with a cardiologist the next morning before the scheduled operation in the afternoon and also to book me an echocardiogram immediately! It was such a relief to be told that it was fine for me to have the surgery although I do need follow up tests next year but those can be done through my gp on the NHS.

Kazzaa46 · 19/12/2025 10:42

@OneDayIWillLearn congratulations that’s amazing! Being able to feel good in yourself and with your clothes is what it’s all about. Have a great anniversary weekend 🎉

@UnimaginableWindBird fabulous losses, you must be so pleased 😀

Milestone Joy! I have bought a top a whole size category smaller than I have worn in 25 years (XL to L) and just worn it to brunch. 😃

GhostOrchid · 19/12/2025 13:27

A good week for me. I’m 1.2kg down after a couple of weeks of more modest losses. That’s on a week where I didn’t feel the suppression that strongly and two food-centric social engagements last weekend.

I’ve smashed my original Nutracheck goal so I’ve set a new one to be another 11kgs down by the middle of March. If I make it that will be the lightest I’ve been since a brief spell in my 20s.

SW: 109kg
CW: 96.6kgs

just taken my 13th jab.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 20/12/2025 08:17

W17 D1 4.25mg
SW 19st 3lbs
CW 15st 2lbs
GW1 15st
GW2 13st
Last week - 5lbs, 56lbs in total.

I wasn’t expecting the big drop this week. I have had 4 big Christmas meals over the last two weeks, so my average calories have been on the higher end. On average, I’m still eating 1100–1500 cals per day, but on those occasions I went over 2000 cals.

I have now lost 4st, 20% of my starting weight, and I’m only 2lbs from my first goal. Still very much obese, but not letting that fact impact me. I remember thinking in September that the target of 15st felt unrealistic, but I’m so glad I started the jabs! Maybe it’s time to start believing that I can reach the 13st mark.

I have upped my exercise and now walk around 5k, 5–6 times a week. I’m banking my exercise calories(250-300cals) so my deficit is increasing marginally. I’m planning to start C25K in January, would anyone like to join me on this challenge?

UnimaginableWindBird · 20/12/2025 08:43

Urgh. I've had my first experience of bad side effects. I was working late, in a very touristy area full of Christmas shoppers/sightseers and I left my lunch at home. I didn't have time to get food in a food shop, so I ended up getting a portion of chips and DH had made pizza for dinner. This was more fat than my body could handle, and I had excruciating stomach cramps from around 10pm. I was worried that it was going to be pancreatitis, and arranged a call from 111, but I was feeling better by around 3am.

I have now learned a valuable lesson for the future.

Chopsy123 · 20/12/2025 08:50

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite Wowsers! Over 4 stones gone. That’s a superb achievement. Congratulations. You’ll definitely be down to 13 stones before Spring at this rate. 🥳🎉🌟

Weekly weigh in today.

SW 14st 12lbs
CW 12st 10.5lbs

Weekly loss 0.5lbs

I’m losing v slowly despite still getting good suppression and not eating much. Usually around 2 small meals a day plus coffees and water.

Chopsy123 · 20/12/2025 08:56

@UnimaginableWindBird Poor you. You must have felt really awful, especially as it was at night time. Things always feel scarier at night.

I suspect many of us have been there at some point during the last few weeks. A timely reminder not to risk eating too much rich food over Christmas!

I have suffered from chronic constipation on the jabs and what feels like severe cramping in my colon area. Thankfully, I’ve learnt to manage it better now.

Ihateslugs · 20/12/2025 10:43

I wish that when I had been using Mounjaro I’d had some good weight losses like other people here - used it for 12 weeks but then had to stop due to having surgery on Tuesday.. The main impact of Mounjaro for me was weekly diarrhea after each jab!

But I have to say, so far my new diet regime of pain and immobility following knee replacement surgery has been much more effective! Despite having a resident slave for a few days to wait on me hand and foot, I cannot face a cooked meal so am living on snacks of fruit, low calorie biscuits ( can highly recommend Nairns ginger stem oat biscuits only 44 cals) and small sandwiches! I’ve not weighed myself as I cannot stand up long enough but I’m sure I must have lost weight!

My son who is here for the weekend is desperate for me to eat one of his meals, he’s a very good cook and made a delicious smelling ragu last night but I just wasn’t hungry. He’s going to make some curried apple and carrot soup today which I love so I hope I can manage some. I have to say it’s been tough relying on someone else after 15 years living on my own!

familyornot · 21/12/2025 05:11

3 months today exactly and I’ve lost 3 stone, I never thought that was possible. Mounjaro has truly been life changing for me. I’ve been on 5mg for 5 weeks and I’m about to take my 6th (I was on 2.5mg for the weeks before that), my suppression has reduced massively so I have a 7.5mg pen ready to go next week. I don’t want to move up right before Xmas as I want to enjoy my food, I’m lucky enough not to have had any major side effects but I felt awful when I increased to 5mg.

A big win for me this week has been when we went to a theatre for a pantomime. Usually the seats are uncomfortable and small, there was actually room on my seat and I wasn’t spilling over onto the person next to me. I haven’t had that feeling before and it was great! My winter coat is also far too big (I’m not replacing it this year though) and the best thing is that my arthritic knees have been holding up so well even in this cold. I’ve had some pain from sitting on the floor to wrap presents but before the summer I could barely manage the stairs. I’ve had steroid injections in August and would technically be able to have more from now but I don’t feel like I need them. I’m also off painkillers.

I’ve stopped profusely sweating - I’m just not too hot anymore. I’m 43 and so have always put this down to perimenopause but it would seem it’s not the case.

I started losing weight back in August 24 and have lost 4st 2lbs since then, but before Mounjaro I’d struggled to move the scales more. I also couldn’t exercise because of my knees, so this has been a lifesaver for me. My BMI has gone from 44.7 to 34.6, I’m still in the ‘obese’ category but it’s coming down. I know BMI isn’t always accurate but I know that mine is high because of fat and not because I’m a pro athlete with high muscle mass (unfortunately) so I think for me it’s a pretty accurate guide of where I’m at.

It’s so helpful reading all the experiences on here.

I had a similar situation last night. Feeling quite cross this morning actually as it wasn't my fault! Partner wanted a chippy and I said no thanks several times, happy to have my toast. He got me something anyway so then I felt like I had to eat it. Cue a very scary moment later on where I felt like I couldnt breathe as my stomach was so full with gas. It made me all panicky 😩 I couldn't burp so had to get him to hit my back. Then the gas from the other end started and ive got horrible stomach cramps and basically water poop! So cross, wish he had listened to what I said. Supposed to be visiting his family 2 hours away today for lunch but I dont want to eat anything today whilst my stomach settles. Im also not going anywhere with this bad belly! 🫠

On the plus side, lost another 2lb this week so down to 9 st 6 now. 13lbs left to go to my goal weight.

OneDayIWillLearn · 21/12/2025 09:28

I’m an even slower loser than you @Chopsy123 ! Coming up to 15 weeks on the jabs and 1 and 1/2 stones down. It’s amazing seeing how much other people are losing and it’s hard not to feel a bit envious sometimes but I’m trying to remind myself that losing slowly has advantages too. I’ve still got really good suppression too.

I’m also coming to the realisation I will probably be on the jabs long term, so from that point of view I’m not in a rush to get to my target weight. I’ve done weight watchers a gazillion times and always regained the weight I’ve lost, so given what the studies show with mounjaro, I think I’d be kidding myself to think I would be the exception. I also find the freedom from food noise immensely liberating and would probably stay on them just for that!

Chopsy123 · 21/12/2025 09:43

@familyornot Wow, another amazing loser!! 😂 🎉🥳🌟
Well done on your achievements so far and next year will be the best ever! Getting off the painkillers is a huge bonus and you should feel very proud of yourself. 👏

@JustPickleRick

I hope you’re feeling better this morning and can visit the family. Tell them you think you ate a dodgy burger or something so that they don’t push you if you refuse to eat very much. If they think you’re unwell rather than dieting, they’re less likely to pressure you. Take care.

He got me something anyway so then I felt like I had to eat it.

Nooooo!!!

I think a lot of us were brought up to share food and eat everything on our plates and not ‘waste’ food. But if we’re changing our eating habits for much healthier ones, this is one mantra that HAS TO CHANGE.

This is one that I’m getting to grips with as I’m a bugger for finishing stuff off even though I know I don’t actually want it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

You have to embrace the fact that it’s OK to refuse food or to throw away perfectly good food and not eat it. You know what your body needs best, so keep listening to it.

outofofficeagain · 21/12/2025 09:56

we also had chip shop tea this week. It’s a minefield!

I had to tell my husband it’s wasted food whether it goes in the bin or I eat it when I don’t want it.

I was out last night. i had 3 gin and tonics but then started to feel quite nauseous so stopped. I think I’m grateful for that.

Due weekly dose 18 today. Been increasing slowly in increments up to 4 the last couple of weeks. Was all great with no side effects until the last couple of days, when I developed a bad bitter taste, a dry mouth and inability to taste food properly. Any views on whether I reduce dose to 3.75 today to so I might enjoy some food this Christmas week or repeat 4 in the hope of acclimatising to it?

JustPickleRick · 21/12/2025 10:05

Its the only food i've had this reaction to and I can only put it down to the fact its mega fried in oil! I had nuggets which were battered and then fried again in the oil so it must have been overload. I've had a curry/kebab/roast/lasagna before last night and felt absolutely fine! I'm in two minds over whether I should just skip it. I was really looking forward to it though, been thinking about my outfit for a while as its the first time they'll have all seen me after losing weight. Never mind 🫠

Chopsy123 · 21/12/2025 13:53

@threescoops Could you have picked up a bug, rather than it be a side effect? Either way in your shoes, I’d probably stay on 3.75mg for this week and possibly next week too.

There’s no rush as you know it’s working.

Thanks - yes, I was wondering that too! I've been on 4 for a couple of weeks, so thought it might not be advisable to go back down to 3.75? Although I suppose if you're gong to be more hungry, this is the week to have more of an appetite!

SerafinasGoose · 21/12/2025 14:13

@Ihateslugs - glad to hear you're on the mend now.

My (two-day late weigh-in).

SW - 15 st BMI 30
Next TW - 13 st
CW - 13 st 1 lbs BMI 27.1
Loss this week - 1 lb
Total loss - 27 lbs

I now have a whole wardrobe full of new, pristine, beautiful lingerie. In fact it's pristine and beautiful, but far from new as I've been unable to wear it for aeons.

Now it all fits wonderfully - as does my old sports bra which is lots comfier than my newer ones - without spilling out of the top and sides like an over-lively pint!

I'm feeling much fitter now I've got the horrible metalwork out of my back - what a difference four months makes.

SerafinasGoose · 21/12/2025 15:26

Done some research in the meantime and it seems from this that I'm losing a little too fast and need to increase my calorie intake (from average 1300 to average 16-1700) and resistance exercise for a short period of 3-4 weeks to give my body time to reset and adjust. Some areas - especially my backside - do feel quite soft and flabby and if I'm 'crash dieting' this will not work for longterm results. I'm happy with my progress and it's the last thing I want to do, it's so satisfying seeing the weight come off. But I know this is the sensible course - and I guess if I want to see a calorie increase I'm at the right time of year to do this.

I'm never one for doing things by halves so this leaves me quite impatient, and a gain on the scales doesn't have a great psychological effect on me. But I know it makes sense. The last thing I want is to run into the usual long-term plateaus, or go at it too hard and too fast and later derail/undo all my progress. I want this to be sustainable.

Why is it so hard to just be SENSIBLE!? 😡
