Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

Hi all ! So excited to find this thread and I would love to join. My pen is coming tomorrow, I'm excited to start and nervous like everyone else it seems! I'm 5 foot 5 and just over 12 stone which is big for me- since having kids I haven't been able to shift it in anyway and it's got to me so much. Does anyone have a preference for when to take it such as at night or morning? Or does it make no difference? X

Hi! I always did morning, partly because with Shemed I had to do a video check in/weigh in first so it fitted with my weigh in schedule!x

cheekysausage123 · 08/10/2025 21:29

Welcome @Moosey898 I’m so sorry for your loss. We’re all rooting for you. X

Hi @Sunshinesally77 Welcome to the thread and good luck for getting started. Smile

Hope everyone is doing ok, I’m alright, felt a bit low this morning but wonder if it’s hormones rather than jab related, just felt a bit ‘meh’. Although scales are showing 7.8lb loss since Sunday before last so can’t complain too much. Confused

Hows everyone doing? 2 days in and no side effects and I'm not thinking about food all the time! Hope it's not just a placebo effect.

narcASD · 08/10/2025 23:49

Hi all and welcome all new starters
@Moosey898that’s so sad, I’m pleased your focusing on yourself and if it’s any consolation I do know some of what you’ve gone through, I too lost my baby boy at 22 weeks over 10 years ago, lost all my weight and went on to have two beautiful girls (after many miscarriages and losing my baby boy)

so, here I am again, fat, pushing 50 and wanting to arrive there feeling and looking 21 😆

officially started MJ on 30th September at 15.6, I weigh daily and this morning weighed 14.9 so 11lb but a lot of that water.

no side effects at all now, was quite tired and bunged up the first few days.

I can’t wait to go to 5mg as feel the 2.5 is not giving me a lot of suppression, I still think of food A LOT!
I do feel like I’ve more energy now though

Shitzngiggles · 09/10/2025 08:50

Just done 2nd dose and did my weigh in. Lost 5lbs. Weirdly I was absolutely starving about 4am so really hope suppression starts again very soon. The electrolytes are definitely helping with energy levels.

jaelato1 · 09/10/2025 09:35

@PfizerFan Taking 3rd jab tonight and I happy to tell you the suppression is real

@cheekysausage123 7.8lbs, get in! I am totally 7.5lb today. Might be just the hormones as mentioned, also dreading the hormones as time of the month is getting closer, would be interesting to see if there will be a drop in my energy level.

@Sunshinesally77 Welcome, you would know what works for your body once you begin the journey. I take mine at night incase of side effects, I'll rather be nauseous while asleep

@narcASD Well done on your loss! does your suppression start to wear off on particular day or you've never felt enough suppression from day 1?

@Shitzngiggles Another amazing loss, well done!

Nandina · 09/10/2025 09:57

Week 1 result = 4 lbs loss. I'm delighted.
That's more than I'd usually lose on those calories.

Calyx72 · 09/10/2025 09:59

@Moosey898 sending comfort. Well done for being here with us and good luck.

Hi and welcome to new friends!

I am mid-week 2 and definitely finding suppression. Still hard to reach my protein and calorie goals.
I was doing overnight oats with chia and Psyllium and raspberries or blueberries which has helped with constipation BUT I don’t enjoy them. It’s the texture! So today I toasted 2 sourdough slices from a small seeded bloomer and had them with butter and 2 poached eggs. OMG bliss! But I bet I am constipated later today or tomorrow.
What do you have for breakfasts? I go to work normally but started from home today hence the cooked food.

jaelato1 · 09/10/2025 10:36

@Nandina well done!

@Calyx72 I try to mix up my breakfast to aviod repetiton but still making sure protein is high, some ideas below - the cals are appox. Let know if you want lunch and dinner ideas too

  • Low fat Greek yogurt (150 g) + ½ scoop whey protein + ½ banana (210 kcal, 26 g protein)
  • 2 boiled eggs + 2 egg whites + 1 slice toast (220 kcal, 24 g protein)
  • Protein smoothie (1 scoop whey + almond milk + ½ banana + 1 tsp peanut butter) (230 kcal, 28 g protein)
  • Low-fat Greek yogurt + 10g chia seeds + berries + 1tsp of honey (230 kcal, 24 g protein)
  • Scrambled eggs (1 whole + 2 whites) + ½ avocado (220 kcal, 20 g protein)
  • Protein pancake (1 scoop whey, 1 egg, 2 tbsp of blended oats) + 1 tsp honey (250 kcal, 30 g protein)
  • Smoothie (½ scoop whey, 150 ml almond milk, 1 tbsp oats, ½ banana) (200 kcal, 22 g protein)
Moosey898 · 09/10/2025 11:14

@Calyx72 thank you 😊

Breakfast wise I'm a big fan of savoury breakfast - bagel thin with turkey bacon is my go to.

If I want to bulk it out a bit as more of a brunch I'll add tomatoes, spinach and scrambled egg/egg white mix and have a sort of fake "full English" which is around 450 calories and so filling, full of protein, fibre etc too.

cheekysausage123 · 09/10/2025 11:28

Amazing loss @Shitzngiggles!

How are you feeling @jaelato1? The suppression is a weird one for me, it v much comes and goes… nowhere near as strong as first jab was.

Fabulous @Nandina that’s a brilliant loss!

Loving the food ideas @Calyx72& @jaelato1@Moosey898 I need to vary my breakfasts a bit more…

PfizerFan · 09/10/2025 11:45

Does this seem like a good sort of food plan?

Breakfast- low fat natural yoghurt, berries, cashew nut butter
Lunch - flat bread, scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato
Dinner - maybe something like chicken, brown rice, green veg eg broccoli. Or veg, salmon, baked potato.

Snack - a protein bar and a tangerine

Any recommendations for improving?!

jaelato1 · 09/10/2025 12:21

@cheekysausage123 on week 1, i felt suppression wearing off on day 5, week 2, suppression started wearing off day 6.

Maybe change where you jab yourself (if you jab right side of stamach, thigh - try left side with next jab), I have heard this is also a factor for some people on effectiveness, if no change then you want to try the 5mg pen.

BlueFever · 09/10/2025 12:52

Hi all, I took my first jab on Sunday evening. I’m W1 D4 now. The suppression has been lovely. I’m still eating but a lot less and I’m not thinking about food all day! I’m weighing daily at the moment, have lost 2kg (nearly 4.5lbs) so far.

my plan is to do this for 2 months before trying for baby 2. I’ve got around 3 stone to lose, do t expect to do it all in 2 months, but hoping for some loss to maximise chances of an uncomplicated pregnancy and birth next time!

Canterbury58 · 09/10/2025 13:01

Hello! Just checking in as it’s day 6 for me (jab tomorrow). I’ve tried this week to do it without tracking my food intake but I think I might need to as I keep getting really extreme hunger pangs during the night that stop me from sleeping. Anyone else?

Has this been the whole week or just the last couple of days? Effects tend to wear off towards injection time, which is why I ask.

Hi, I took my first MJ jab Monday so we’ve don’t it similar times. I want to lose about 2-2.5 stone, I’m definitely eating less and the suppression is getting stronger as the week goes on. I had a bowl of porridge with fruit about 10am and I’m still full now at 2pm. I actually have tuna pasta bake ready for my dinner but I’m too full to eat anymore.

Sunshinesally77 · 09/10/2025 14:20

Hi all xx thanks for the lovely welcome . I took my first jab about 4 hours ago, was so nervous! No impact at all in fact I'm pretty hungry and anxious so just kind of hoping the food noise wears off (realise it's super early but did anyone else think it might happen within 35 seconds?!) Just impatient and excited!! X

BountyMultipack · 09/10/2025 14:42

I took my first jab last night and just went to sleep. I felt okay when I woke up.
Not sure what I was expecting, but I thought I might have a headache or something.

Since I've been up, I haven't been feeling very hungry and although I had my breakfast (2 boiled eggs and some berries), I wasn't really very hungry. Not sure what to have for lunch but it might just be a protein shake to keep up the protein intake,

I dont feel low in energy and feel good otherwise!

BountyMultipack · 09/10/2025 14:45

That feeling and thought about food isn't there today! I'm so surprised, I didn't get it but I get it now. I'm not thinking about food at all, and only remembered lunch when my husband asked me if I had any ideas on what he should have for lunch lol.

We're very close in start date(1day!) I'm just a few hours in and not feeling any different yet apart from. A tiny bit of indigestion feeling. I'm also a bit anxious which is putting me off eating anything even though I'm hungry 😂 excited we can share as we go along

jaelato1 · 09/10/2025 15:47

@Sunshinesally77 I promise you it's OK to eat 😀and it is absolutely normal for the jab not to have kicked in yet, we all react to it differently. Try to find out your TDEE to determine the amount of calories you can consume daily if your havent yet.

@BountyMultipack Absolutely normal to forget about food 😄

AlexBrad · 09/10/2025 17:00

I’m now week 1, day 5 and still feeling woozy and dizzy. I am eating little and often, eating enough protein and calories, drinking 3 litres of water a day and having electrolytes.

Had anyone else experienced this with their first jab and it’s worn off? It’s making it really difficult to focus at work (and do what I need to at home).

Hi, I did my first jab Monday evening and with each day I feel the suppression more. Today I had a bowl of porridge with some blueberries about 10am and only now I started to feel slightly hungry. I’m not looking for snacks so far so good and smaller portions are filling me up. Let me know how you get on x

I actually took Wegovy first for 4 weeks and felt like you described it was horrible I literally wanted to sleep and sleep and felt absolutely awful… the 4th week of Wegovy felt so much better and I’ve now switched to MJ this week and feel so much better. Make sure your having electrolytes in your water each day as that’ll definitely help with the tiredness too. Hope you feel better soon x
