Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Congrats @narcASD @Caledoniablue for the loss.

Welcome to the MJ journey @NorthernMarmiteLover @Elliebearblues

We are not just losing weight, we are gaining health, happiness and control of our story....We all got this!

I love this quote about gaining health, happiness and control.

I’ve just received my email to say my order is being shipped, very nervous but also excited. I’ve realised that I don’t go out socialising anymore because I don’t want people seeing how much I’ve changed, I don’t even like visiting family because I get comments about my weight or if I’m still going to the gym, I hate being in photos & find myself thinking about my weight everyday.
I used to be a size 8 but that was with gym 5x a week and trying numerous diets, since having children I don’t have the time and my weight has crept up. I’m hoping this is the push I need.
Good luck to everyone starting this journey.

I totally get this, I am exactly the same.
You’ve got this though and you are about to start on your new journey of being a new you, we both are xx

PfizerFan · 06/10/2025 22:33

Started today. Hungry!

cheekysausage123 · 06/10/2025 22:40

Welcome all newbies! I’m knackered so not naming individually but great to have you on board. 😁

Off to bed, 2.5 games of netball has finished me off this evening.

Hello all!

Well done to those of you who have akready started and lost!

I took my injection tonight, after a false start last month (long story, got a very nasty infection a few days into my first week). Recovered and keener that ever to get going

Very nervous about side effects -but fingers crossed I'll manage. Spent months preparing and it all went belly up so I've just got on with it tonight!

Start: 14st 8lbs
Goal: 10st 8lbs

Exciting times, I’ve tried so many diets and after having 5 children the weight has gradually crept in, I still try and do my steps each day and am getting back into the gym 1-2 times a week for now to build up. I started my 1st MJ jab yesterday. Good luck x

Week 1 done and I am -4lbs which I am super happy with.
No real side effects apart from a little constipation.
Days 1 to 4 the appetite suppression really worked.
Days 5 and 6 my appetite was coming back, but not fully.
Day 7 appetite suppression was back, which was weird.

Welcome to all the newbies. You've got this!

PfizerFan · 07/10/2025 10:51

Defo woken up with some appetite suppression! Not hungry at all.

Canterbury58 · 07/10/2025 12:26

Hello! I started last Friday so very pleased to find this thread. The first 2 days I was very happy with appetite suppression but I feel I am still getting pretty hungry! How is everyone else doing?

BountyMultipack · 07/10/2025 12:42

Hi Everyone! I'd like to join too.
I'm 38, 5' 7' and 97 kgs.

My first MJ 2.5mg is out for delivery and I'll receive it today.
I have an interview tomorrow so will put it in the fridge today and start it tomorrow after the interview.

I've been thinking about it since a year so looking forward to it. I went down to 93 kg a few weeks ago because I tracked my kcal and weighed my food, etc, but holiday and not feeling too good meant I went right back up in the last month or so.

When I'm tracking, I'm really good but when I'm not I can eat A LOT, which includes takeaways and desserts.

Now I need to get back on track. I plan on just using MJ mainly to make it easier for me to stick to a controlled calorie diet. I want to walk 10K steps daily too and try to do some strength training a few times a week, hopefully.

That's the plan anyway.

My TDEE is about 2000kcal according to an online calculator so a 500kcal deficit is still 1500 calories. I'm hoping to eat between 1300-1500 calories with a focus on protein and fibre.

I'm so scared of the side effects, but reading everyone;s experiences has helped!

Edited to add: I'm on HRT as well, so lets see how it goes!

Calyx72 · 07/10/2025 14:34

Hello fellow starters! On my mobile and just peeping in while I am supposed to be working, sorry not to name folk but I am reading every post!
Congratulations on starting or just being about to start!

I am definitely having trouble eating to my calorie allowance (1200) but the clear whey protein drink in vimto flavour has helped me hit my protein goal for the past 2 days Grin

I haven’t done any weights this week, better do it before I lose too much muscle.

The constipation hasn’t been too bad as I have had raspberries in overnight oats with chia seeds and psyllium husk (really throwing everything in there!) as well as a couple of dried dates as a snack later. I am enjoying my water, I have 3 of my 800ml bottle daily, the first with Phizz electrolytes in.

Elliebearblues · 07/10/2025 17:08

@Elizabeth49 a 4lb loss is great 😊
@PfizerFan thats great you’ve got suppression definitely helps.
@Canterbury58 i think it can take some time to get full appetite suppression I hope you do soon
@BountyMultipack Hi and welcome I’ve tried so many diets and nothing has worked for me so been looking into the weight loss meds for a while and decided to go for it yesterday so did my first dose. Touch wood no side effects yet
@Calyx72 I’ve started back doing weights and went to the gym this morning like you say we want to gain muscle. I’m trying to drink at least 2L water a day and also put an electrolyte in it first thing to help. I also eat dried prunes and apricots so hoping they’ll help with any constipation, I have IBS so one min I’m running for the toilet the next I can’t go 🙈.

Good luck with your journeys everyone touch wood day1 for me and no side effects - let’s hope it stays this way. So far today I had a small piece of toast with a bit of peanut butter, a chicken salad wrap for lunch and to be honest I’m not that hungry I’d be normally looking for something to eat about now but I don’t feel I need it xx

Shitzngiggles · 07/10/2025 19:09

W1 D5 and suppression starting to wear off a little bit, so hoping I can hold out until Thursday for my 2nd dose. Can't believe how well it has been working so far though. No food noise at all and feeling satisfied on much smaller portions. Started taking electrolytes today, seemed to have a positive effect on my energy levels already. Not sure it works that quickly or if it's just coincidence I'm not so tired today. Drinking gallons of water so constantly on the loo. Weigh in on Thursday as well so can't wait to see some progress on the scales.

Juststarting12 · 07/10/2025 19:50

@Elliebearbluesthank you. How did you find the first jab? I’ll admit im a little anxious about it. Are you feeling ok today? Good luck to you too

Honestly it was easy to do the jab the needle is so small you can’t feel it. I’ve been absolutely fine today just started to feel slightly queasy now but nothing to bad. Honestly don’t be anxious xx

Snap. Day 5 here too and I also found the suppression wearing off slightly. I started Phizz electrolytes this morning and was convinced I had slightly more energy than yesterday.

Hi all! I'm technically a re-starter. Was on Mounjaro in March/April but then fell pregnant so stopped (had lost 8.2kg in 8 weeks). Sadly lost our little girl at 22 weeks pregnant due to an infection, so now am back losing the pregnancy weight to get back down to required BMI for IVF....again!

So upsetting and annoying to be back at square one but I know MJ worked really well for me earlier this year so I'm hoping it will again, I got such great headspace from it. I'm on blood thinners still since my hospital stay but from Tuesday I'll be able to start MJ again!

jaelato1 · 08/10/2025 11:37

@Moosey898 I am so sorry for your loss. Please be gentle with yourself. You've already shown so much strength and resilience by getting back up and focusing on your health again.

Remember it is not starting over but it's about continuing your journey with even more courage. You did amazing before and you will do it again. sending you lots of love and encouragement. You got this!!!

jaelato1 · 08/10/2025 11:38

@Elizabeth49 well done!

Warm welcome to all the new joiners :)

Moosey898 · 08/10/2025 17:40

Thank you all 🙏🏼 it's so crap to being going back again but I'm very hopeful that MJ will be as good as it was before! Mentally and physically.

Sunshinesally77 · 08/10/2025 18:58

Hi all ! So excited to find this thread and I would love to join. My pen is coming tomorrow, I'm excited to start and nervous like everyone else it seems! I'm 5 foot 5 and just over 12 stone which is big for me- since having kids I haven't been able to shift it in anyway and it's got to me so much. Does anyone have a preference for when to take it such as at night or morning? Or does it make no difference? X
