Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Here for support, tips and anything else helpful along the way. 🫣

Dropped another 0.8lb this morning after my stall (cycle related) and definitely a size 16 now rather than an 18! My husband who is also on the jabs has fit into his old motorbike leathers which is so great!

I also quite like the mild hunger on the last day or two before Jab day @VioletandMauve

I used to always have constipation but the focus on fibre since starting Mounjaro has really helped and I am feeling ‘normal’ regarding bms now! I pre-soak 30g chia seeds overnight and have them with my raspberry lemonade flavoured clear whey protein drink for breakfast every morning. I started with 15g then 20g and moved up. I really enjoy it Smile

Just ordered my second pen and have decided to stick to 2.5mg. I think it’s worked well for me, minimal side effects and good appetite suppression. I don’t mind the slight food noise which comes back in the 2 days before my jab and I like to show some restraint rather than feeling completely numb to food.

Will keep an eye on how this next 4 weeks goes and will decide whether to stick to it moving forward or move to 5mg.

Haven’t weighed myself yet this week as we’re away but before I went I weighed myself and in the first week and a half I’d lost 6.5lbs which I’m over the moon with. Next weigh in on Monday.

Have just ordered my 2nd pen of 2.5 too. Agree it’s nice for it to wear off at the weekend.
I’m jabbing Monday nights now so I feel ok to socialise at the weekend. went out for dinner last night and just stuck to fish & veg but allowed myself a couple of glasses of Prosecco - felt fine.
I’m 9lbs down - week 3 ends tomorrow. Very happy with that! ☺️

SexyFrenchDepression · 08/11/2025 11:10

I definitely need to manage my expectations for my 2nd week, my first week loss was so good that I know i can't sustain that. I am hoping for a couple of weeks I can have decent losses to give me a good boost but I need to lower my expectations really.

What have been peoples patterns of loss each week so far?

I do average losses generally so weigh 4 times a week. This seems to be a more recommended method from coaches/PTs but not by the NHS. I have a lovely spreadsheet chart to map it against my plan 😂

HighlyUnusual · 08/11/2025 11:16

I have lost nothing!

I wish I'd found this thread a month ago, I also started on MJ in October, I've done 2.5, felt tiny bit nauseous but normally hungry all month, and just moved up to 5mg, as getting really no major suppression or any weight loss whatsoever.

I do know that I'm a very slow loser, I was on Wegovy for nearly a year and called it a day through being extremely fed up of my slow progress although I did lose a stone and a half eventually.

Another year later, I decided to have another go to get nearer to my goal weight with MJ and was hoping its magic two ingredients rather than one and better side effect profile would do the trick.

I've been here before, when everyone around me is losing quickly and I'm going nowhere, but I know the answer is to keep going, go to higher doses (for me) and to eat the best I can (protein first, water) anyway.

It is frustrating though as I read all these great starts!

SexyFrenchDepression · 08/11/2025 11:30

@HighlyUnusual are you logging your food each day to check calories? Guessing you have done all your TDEE calculations etc?

HighlyUnusual · 08/11/2025 11:52

@SexyFrenchDepression I think one of the issues is that I don't eat that much or have that much to lose, although still just in the obese category, so my TDEE is pretty low and I am short. I need to eat substantially little (1300 or under) to see my weight shift, if I eat 1400 a day or have an indulgent day once every now and again, I will either stay the same or even put on weight. I do feel hungry, quite hungry, even on the low doses of MJ and Wegovy, so struggle to get under 1300 calories as I feel ravenous and get headaches if I don't eat.

The only good thing is that MJ seems easier to tolerate and doesn't make me feel so sick, just a bit tired. I'm just waiting for the hunger suppression/food noise to go away a bit and I'm sure I'll be on my way. I also don't drink enough water at work and in the day, I'm very busy and that ends up slipping.

Need to drink more water, eat better and have faith I guess!

SexyFrenchDepression · 08/11/2025 11:56

@HighlyUnusual that sounds extremely frustrating, I am only 5ft 4 and SW 12st so even for a small loss I need about 1300 cals, think mine are about 1000 for a 2lb a week weight loss (if I wasnt on MJ) which is so low. I am just trying to plan my whole days food so I dont run out of cals. Without the jabs I can lose weight for a couple of weeks, then have a meal out or something and fall off the wagon completely.

HighlyUnusual · 08/11/2025 12:14

@SexyFrenchDepression that's me! If I step off the lowish TDEE even for a day, on it goes. It is quite difficult being short and stubby (in my case)!

That said, I want to get my weight lower so there's leeway there, I stopped before I was at my goal weight last time and that gave no real room for putting on a few kg after I stopped and it all settled again. The good news is I didn't regain most of it and I did eat reasonably in the intervening year #smallwins

Its so stupid as 1 day isnt going to ruin my whole diet but then I'm like 'oh I've ruined it now so just as well carry on eating rubbish'. But my PT pointed out that if I stuck to my calories for 6 days on the 7th I'd have to eat over 5000 to put on weight so not to worry so much. My deficit is about 800 cals so it makes sense.

Meandmypooch · 08/11/2025 14:48

Well Halloween and Bonfire night have come and gone without me stuffing my face with garbage despite the house being full of sweets, just not interested which is not like me!
On the downside I grabbed a bottle of beer out of the fridge and couldn't finish it, it made me nauseous 😥😂

Moosey898 · 08/11/2025 14:55

@SexyFrenchDepression on your question about how often to weigh in, it really comes down to personal preference and understanding. If you only weigh once a week (which I do currently) you have to understand that your monthly cycle can impact the number, or a day with more carbs, after a night out etc. This doesn't mean that you haven't been on it that week of course! But some people panic.

If you weigh every day then you see every tiny fluctuation and the numbers can feel like they're changing slowly (because the change day to day isn't as big as it is week to week obviously!) and some people can get hyper obsessive and get upset or disappointed with the little up that are inevitable. But it does show the general trends really well.

I think you can pick what works best for you psychologically 😊

Clumsykitten · 08/11/2025 16:49

I’m reading everyone’s comments and realising that my cycle is impacting all of this. I need to just keep going I think and it will improve in a week or so.

Keep at it @Clumsykitten ! Our cycles can really mess with our heads when it comes to weight loss and moods. You've got this journey x

Thank you. I do think the initial suppression I got in week 1 has faded, I just have to keep reminding myself that it was never meant to be the dose, just the start. I’m definitely eating too much although I think it’s still less that I used to eat before this started.

narcASD · 08/11/2025 21:22

@Clumsykittenit did take going up to 5 to feel any sort of suppression, now I can say it’s in full effect.

Clumsykitten · 08/11/2025 22:00

Thanks @narcASDand @Moosey898- I appreciate the support and encouragement. I’ve got to remind myself that a stone of weight is more than I’ve managed to lose and keep off than I have for years, and it will be helping my health right now, even if I’ve got a way to go.

@Clumsykittenit did take going up to 5 to feel any sort of suppression, now I can say it’s in full effect.

I also haven’t really felt suppression as such on 2.5 - week 1 was more of a placebo as I was mindful that I shouldn’t be hungry. Week 2 was similar. And having jabbed for week 3 a couple of days early, with more left in my system I think I feel suppression now…. I guess the overlap mimicked a higher dose? I’m moving back another day next week for jab 4 too. So it might be a good idea to use golden dose and fraction of a dose from my 5mg pen for week 5 as an interim step?

Not hungry yesterday - just had drinks till the evening as we were going out for dinner with friends. However, it was noticeable I could not over eat…. I reached a point where I felt full, and every tiny amount after that was a real struggle to eat. Thankfully no one really noticed and as DH is now on week 1 with similar but slightly less issues, he kept away from comments about what I couldn’t eat.

Lesson learned - next meal out with friends will be a curry in early December and I will make sure to order something extremely light and easy to eat.. share rice etc with DH and just pretend to have had something mid afternoon.

Good strategy re. Eating out, always easier thinking about these things ahead of time, also need to be mindful of it myself.

Week 7 weigh in here today, lost 2.6lb last week.

Total loss of 1st 2.2lb since end of September, which I’m chuffed with. 🥳

@putthehamsterbackinitscage same for me as I moved my jab earlier by a day and did a top up which really stop food noise and cravings.
I would suggest eating smaller amounts throughout the day though, I found going all day without eating (not hungry) made it hard for me to eat at all in the evening.

I now make sure I have 2 or 3 meals a day, usually Greek yogurt with vanilla protein powder & drink soaked chai seeds too, that way I get my protein & fibre in too.

at midnight I couldn’t sleep and really wanted some noodles, I ate them along with a large chocolate brownie! I had only jabbed in the morning too!

I think it’s maybe because this week I’ve only managed around 1000-1200 calories a day, I used to be on around 1500-1600 so sure it won’t affect my weight loss journey, I’ve also decided to weight weekly now as I’m into more of a routine, I’ve been daily weighing for 6 weeks.

I keep saying to myself, where I was when I started is where I am now, losing weight, eating well, I do have a terrible habit of wanting change instantly, but haven’t be patient with myself.

narcASD · 09/11/2025 09:15

@cheekysausage123 wow that’s a great amount! To think you started this thread hoping it’ll work and it is!
16.2lbs lighter is fantastic. What kind of meals are you having and do you do any exercise?

@narcASDi weigh daily when at home and this time I’m being honest and using evening weigh ins rather than 1st thing before food etc.

it does mostly help to see the changes and understand patterns across the week. I’m menopausal so don’t have the issues of a cycle to worry about.

Thanks @narcASD! I’m very boring and usually have the same breakfast of weighed out protein granola, fat free greek yogurt and frozen fruit.

Lunch is often eggs in some form, soup or a sandwich and then dinner is whatever the rest of my family are having, albeit sometimes if it’s pizza or fish fingers for the kids then I’ll change mine and my OH’s dinner to something more protein heavy/interesting.

I usually play netball one eve a week (anywhere between 30 mins to 1.5 hours!, and then try to exercise once more but am pretty rubbish at the second one. Having said that, I’ve booked two exercise classes this week for Tues & Thurs, body pump and HIIT. Definitely need to ensure I’m doing more exercise wise and really keen to do more formal strength training.

Hi @SexyFrenchDepression I’m rubbish at working out the difference each week in lb and oz but happy to share my graph from Shotsy since starting.

Grey is 2.5mg injection, purple is 5mg.
