Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Took the so-called "golden" dose last night, surprisingly easy!

Hi, can I jump on the thread. Technically November starter but only just as started yesterday and dont want to start a new thread 🙈

Well done on your amazing losses so far!
I am not sure if it is on my mind but appetite suppression started within a few hours. I had the jab just before lunch time, I had the whole afternoon to myself at home and I usually will tell myself I need treats as everyone is out enjoying themselves! I didnt even think about food then had to make dinner because I knew I needed to eat as opposed to wanting to.

I feel similar today so far, I just feel a bit odd, can't put my finger on it.
I am not really sure of my target weight yet. BMI says 49-66kg with other methods saying around 54-58. My lowest ever weight was 8st9 when I was 25 and I wouldn't have wanted to go lower than that, I started getting into quite high intensity fitness and stayed around 9st1-4 but looked slimmer that when I weighed less. From age 40 to now I have crept up and up!

I am 46 now so thinking probably around 9st6/60kg. This would be around 2.5 stone in total.
Has anyone had any experience of losing weight in their 40s, do you find you need to keep a bit more on due to aging face etc? Or is that just a myth?

SexyFrenchDepression · 02/11/2025 10:28

Oh literally just found November thread 🙈

Awesome. I’m totally not brave enough to do that. Scared of needles so there’s just no way. But good for you! 🙌

I wanted to share a milestone with you though - am down half a stone today 🎉
I’m amazed. Totally amazed.

I’m 5ft 8
SW 14st 4lbs
CW 13st 11lbs
TW 11st (maybe 10.5 if this keeps up!)

I’m on week 2. Due 3rd jab again tomorrow. I’m guessing the weightloss will start to slow before I get to the end of the month.

I’m turning 50 in the new year and would LOVE to be a healthy bmi by then 🙏

Focusing on more fibre protein and movement ⭐️

Thanks @PfizerFan I haven’t lost weight like this since having Ds1 16 years ago when the weight fell off because of breastfeeding and not drinking. The same didn’t happen with DS2 unfortunately.

Low carbing has helped a bit, but never consistently.

I’m loving just feeling full after a small amount of food, and not getting any cravings. Is this how skinny people feel all the time?

Unfortunately I think I will have to stop with my Mounjaro journey. I have a really persistent, constant bad stomach that keeps getting worse despite not going up from 2.5mg and the online prescriber I use has advised I stop. I am gutted despite the side effects as I have been losing weight. Wishing you all lots of luck!

So sorry to hear that, wishing you all the luck with whatever you do next x

Elliebearblues · 02/11/2025 11:11

Did my jab Friday upped to 5mg about 4pm and by bedtime I had stomach cramps on and off which lasted all of Saturday too, I had my food last night then the suffer burbs, wind and stomach churning started and now I have diarrhoea again 😩 it’s got to be the jab this time as it literally started not long after I’d done the jab… has this happened to anyone else? x

cheekysausage123 · 02/11/2025 16:22

@Elliebearbluesthat sounds really rough, sorry to hear it, maybe speak to your prescriber? Not sure what else to suggest.

Also sorry to hear you’re not getting on with the drugs @AlexBrad☹️

Thanks @PfizerFan, @StrongLikeMamma- well done on your loss too! X

@cheekysausage123 @StrongLikeMamma Amazing. Well done both

@Elliebearblues I think this is why I have been a bit reluctant to go 5mg, I have read people complain about these side effects on 5mg but on the bright side most people tend to feel the side effects on first jab. I hope you body adjust to it better in the coming days

Moosey898 · 02/11/2025 16:40

@jaelato1 I didn't get side effects at all going up to 5mg before so hopefully it'll be the same for you.

I messaged my prescriber and they said yes when you move up a dose it’s perfectly normal symptoms as there’s more of the drug in your body and it should ease in a day or so. X

I don’t regret moving up the dose as I needed to hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow xx

That’s good to hear everyone is different arnt they x

StrongLikeMamma · 02/11/2025 17:51

@Elliebearblueshave you thought of trying 3.75? I think you can do less clicks to get a smaller amount in between 2.5 and 5. Might be worth a go?

Calyx72 · 02/11/2025 19:01

Did my 6th jab this morning, first of my 2nd pen (used golden dose last week). Stayed on 2.5mg.
I am getting worse at injecting! Huge (nearly 2 inch) bruise Blush

I injected my husband as he always asks me to do his. No bruise. So that’s good but grrrr! I want to go back to no bruises like I had the first 2 jabs!

Clumsykitten · 02/11/2025 19:20

Have eaten too much today. I have to keep reminding myself though that it’s probably not a disaster, and less than a “bad day” pre jab

So different! I guess it's like any medication, we can all react differently.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 02/11/2025 21:59

Took my 2nd dose earlier today… so far no ill effects and tbh haven’t really noticed much suppression either… I’ll see what tomorrow brings.

I think it’s fine to have one day with less suppression. So you’ll get back on it with the next jab 🤷🏻‍♀️

I already did this when I loved up and it was just like being on 2.5mg, I’ve felt queasy all night and weak, I did manage a bit of food last night but I just awful in myself. Hubby thinks I should stop the jabs if it’s making me feel so poorly x

I normally do it in the thigh and sometimes I bruise and sometimes I don’t it’s really odd as I don’t do anything differently x
