Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Took my 2nd dose earlier today… so far no ill effects and tbh haven’t really noticed much suppression either… I’ll see what tomorrow brings.

The 2.5mg is just a started dose to get your body ready. Some people have good supression and stay on it for months with good losses and others don’t. I lost 4lbs on that dose but hardly any supression x

Hi, can I jump on the thread. Technically November starter but only just as started yesterday and dont want to start a new thread 🙈

Well done on your amazing losses so far!
I am not sure if it is on my mind but appetite suppression started within a few hours. I had the jab just before lunch time, I had the whole afternoon to myself at home and I usually will tell myself I need treats as everyone is out enjoying themselves! I didnt even think about food then had to make dinner because I knew I needed to eat as opposed to wanting to.

I feel similar today so far, I just feel a bit odd, can't put my finger on it.
I am not really sure of my target weight yet. BMI says 49-66kg with other methods saying around 54-58. My lowest ever weight was 8st9 when I was 25 and I wouldn't have wanted to go lower than that, I started getting into quite high intensity fitness and stayed around 9st1-4 but looked slimmer that when I weighed less. From age 40 to now I have crept up and up!

I am 46 now so thinking probably around 9st6/60kg. This would be around 2.5 stone in total.
Has anyone had any experience of losing weight in their 40s, do you find you need to keep a bit more on due to aging face etc? Or is that just a myth?

Hello welcome! That’s great you have appetite supression already definitely helps! I’m 44 and the weight has crept on steadily over the years I’ve tried so many diets that I thought I’d try the jabs and see how I go.
good luck x

Down 2.8lb on last week, due 6th jab this eve. Overall loss of 13.6lb since 28/9/25. 🥳

That’s brilliant losses well done xx

SexyFrenchDepression · 03/11/2025 07:44

@Elliebearblues I used to be horrified if I went over 9 1/2 stone and would just be sensible for a couple of weeks and would get back to normal so I have no clue how I ended up around 12 stone!, it doesnt look good or feel good on my frame at all! I do hope this works!

jaelato1 · 03/11/2025 07:57

@Elliebearblues it's interesting that you said you normally jab your thigh. I have also read some people who jab their thigh have less suppression than people who jab their stomach. Did jab you jab stomach at all on 2.5mg? although I also read with stomach Jab, you also tend the nausea and diarrhea side effects. I didn't have any of those and I'm a stomach jab-er Smile

jaelato1 · 03/11/2025 08:25

@SexyFrenchDepression Welcome to the group!

I turned 41 this year and I know I cant lose the weight without the extra help, like many the weight slowly builds up after having kids, while I am currently not at my heaviest, I still need to lose another 3 (4 stone preferably) stone to be within healthy BMI and I know I cant do it on diet and exercise alone as my metabolism is shit.

SexyFrenchDepression · 03/11/2025 08:28

@jaelato1 annoyingly after having kids I got into the best shape ever, I was around 30. I got an injury in my later 30s and couldnt exercise in the same way. I lost motivation then once I hit 40 the weight went on so easily! I definitely can't do it without help, I can do a week or two then ruin it all!

I’ve jabbed my thigh on each injection so far and I get really good food suppression. I did try to jab my stomach recently to see if it felt different afterwards and the pen jammed so I ended up doing my thigh again!

Morning all

i I posted on another thread I think.

I’m mid fifties, menopausal, fairly short with a very slight frame.

over the years, I followed I quit sugar, 5:2, low carb all fairly successfully but then weight came back each time when I stopped with a strict regime, and during Covid, perimenopause things got worse. Last year I tried a council supported weight loss group with teams calls every week - that didn’t work for me - it was usually a call about aspects of healthy eating etc that I already knew ands mostly practiced but still didn’t manage the will power about smaller portions and less treats, booze etc.

And add in the effects of back pain/ surgery making me less active and then another surgery where I was off my feet for 2 months and I ended up here thanks to a guy at work who shared his mounjaro experience.

So now 2 jabs in, med express have let me re-order today and I'm 6 pounds down so far. I’m trying to do this by not restricting anything to the extreme but hoping to find a level of suppression that helps me learn to control portion size and to manage treats better.

No real side effects so far, and not really noticeable suppression but I did sleep badly after the 2nd jab yesterday.

It’s really useful to compare stuff like this - so far I’ve done stomach (different sides as there is plenty to go at) and no issues at all. My instructions say to vary the location so I’m doing that but avoiding thigh and upper arm as that’s where I put my hrt gels.

@putthehamsterbackinitscage you have said MedExpress let you reorder, I have used MedExpress for my 1st jab, is there an issue reordering some times? I assumed it would all be easy once they had assessed you and agreed it was suitable?

They grey out the button until the next window… mine changed today to allow me to reorder - no issues just gave them a weight update. The next window to order for me starts in 2 weeks - which is good as I travel quite a bit so will be able to build a small stock eventually when I reach a steady dose. I’ve ordered 5mg as my 2nd one as I’ve had no issues, no side effects other than disturbed sleep last night, and don’t really notice suppression so far.

Ah ok brilliant. I am only 2 days in so a while to go before reordering.

They let me place my 2nd order after 2 weeks from 1st order and it’s already through clinical review and awaiting dispatch.

MedExpress seem pretty good from what I have experienced so far. All very quick sorting it. They said there could be a delay for a couple of days receiving it but it arrived the next day!

Yes I do my HRT on upper arms too so not going near that area. I also order through MedExpress so far so good, currently away from home this week so will order next week when I’m back but I’m happy with them so far.

narcASD · 03/11/2025 11:15

morning all, sorry to hear your still not feeling great @Elliebearbluesit must be the jab as you’ve not felt well since you started it, I think your husband has a point.

@Clumsykitteni ate a load of crap yesterday too, just shovelling junk in my face as it was there, Halloween cakes & sweets. I did a work out this morning and reducing my calories to 1200 until weight day on Friday.

I Am fine all day then late at night feel like snacking, mainly as I’m wide awake and old bad habits, must try and stop daily weighing too as I’m becoming a bit obsessed.

can’t say the 5mg is a huge difference from 2.5 in terms of food noise / hunger. I don’t want to go up to 7.5 due to the cost, wish I’d started this sooner!

jaelato1 · 03/11/2025 12:01

@putthehamsterbackinitscage I couldnt agree more! I read alot about MJ before deciding to try it out and it is amazing some of the things I read (and still reading daily). I have even read some people right side of body (stomach, thigh and arm) gives them better suppression than left side so it is very important that we carry out these comparisons to understand what works best for us. I find the left side of my stomach gives me better suppression than the right side.

@narcASD Have you always jabbed same place? if yes, do think it's worth jabbing another area to test if the suppression might work better?

That’s interesting- I’ve done left and right side of stomach do far but didn’t really notice a difference. I am tracking where I do each jab and will continue doing this do as to see if there is a difference for me.

Clumsykitten · 03/11/2025 12:30

I need to order my 5mg. Should I be shopping around for a new deal? Do people stick or switch providers each time? I’m with Lloyds.

I jabbed in the stomach once to be honest I can’t remember if I had supression then x

the last time I was unwell 2 weeks ago was from a stomach bug I think as a week later my 9yr old had it and now today my 18yr old has it. This time it’s definitely the jab from moving up a dose which my prescriber said can happen as the first 2.5mg is a loading dose and then when you get to 5mg it’s a shock to the body as it’s a higher dosage. The cramps and diarrhoea have gone now but I just feel achy and weak today xx

Elliebearblues · 03/11/2025 07:32

I already did this when I loved up and it was just like being on 2.5mg, I’ve felt queasy all night and weak, I did manage a bit of food last night but I just awful in myself. Hubby thinks I should stop the jabs if it’s making me feel so poorly x

How are you feeling today?

just worn out to be honest, the cramps and diarrhoea have gone but just feel achy and washed out. I’m pretty sure it’s a side effect to moving to 5mg x

What time of day did you take it…. Might be an idea to take it down peak side effects are whilst you are sleeping?
