Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

joining as I have just done my 1st dose… got around 2.5 stone I need to lose (only short so this is around 20% body weight) and have high cholesterol, family history of type 2, and chronic back pain, asthma etc that all make it difficult.

figured from reading other threads that last thing at night is a good time and I WFH so don’t need to go anywhere much if I do have any issues over the next few days.

i have taken a while to take this step but finally caved after another holiday where I didn’t want to be in photos .

I’ve previously lost weight on 5:2 and low carb but menopause saw me put it all back on and more, all in about 6 months and I’ve really struggled with willpower and self control since.

StrongLikeMamma · 27/10/2025 06:06

I’m losing very fast in my first week- which I’m totally delighted with, but I’m thinking people are really going to notice soon on if it carries on… and that’s bringing up an issue for me of feeling that I don’t want to tell anyone I’m on WLIs.
I have told DH and no one else. But I have the kind of friends who will probably ask me.
I was extremely sceptical about these drugs initially and I guess I’m worried about feeling judged.
Just wondering how you’re all feeling about it coming up?

DakotaFanny · 27/10/2025 06:53

I am also not telling anyone. I’m lucky in that it coincides with life events which mean my lifestyle has changed and so I might feasibly lose weight (now living alone as kids are both at uni so I am filling gaps with exercise and can eat exactly what I want for meals and avoid having crap in the house). But I don’t believe that people won’t question WLIs if I’m as successful as I hope I will be! It’s one of the first things I think of when I see a celebrity or colleague has lost lots of weight, after all!

i want to say if someone asks I’ll ‘own it’- especially now I realise that it’s not a magic cheat code and that you actually still have to work quite hard. But I won’t! I’ll tell them when I’ve kept it off for 3 years and can prove them all wrong that way! 😂😬

Morning @StrongLikeMamma - I’ve just taken my fourth jab and lost around 10lb in total. Only my husband knows I’m using the jabs.
Honestly, no one else has noticed! In my first week I lost 6lbs, but it’s slowed down a little which I think has helped.
I think it takes a while, well for me anyway, for bodies to change shape.
I don’t intend to tell anyone and will say I’ve been following a low cal diet.

Moosey898 · 27/10/2025 07:38

Just into week 3 and lost 7.5lbs over the first 2 weeks, delighted by that.

Will have to weigh myself Friday because I'm then away for 8 nights so only 4 days this "week" in terms of weigh in but hopefully will keep losing around 2lbs a week from this point on average.

3.5lbs to go my first interim target 😊

I am sure it will slow down, I guess I’m just thinking for the first time now that I can actually envisage loosing the extra 3stone I have been carrying round for years, that everyone will assume I’m on the jabs.

I do it myself! I saw a neighbour of mine in passing the other week who I would have said was a round about a size 22-24 previously and she’s looking like a 18-20 now. I immediately thought “oh Emily looks great - good for her - guess she’s on the jabs” - without any evidence other than her apparent weight loss. Oh and the fact that she beamed at me and initiated the greeting - she’s usually very antisocial and not so smiley.

I’m also a bit annoyed that I even feel like I should keep it a secret.

Also don’t want to think about the keeping it off!

That’s fabulous @Moosey898!

I haven’t told many people either - a couple of friends know but that’s more because they’ve used them themselves. Good to be able to ask them if need advice!

I did my first 5mg MJ jab last night, expected to wake up with no appetite but managing to eat usual protein granola, fat free greek yogurt and fruit. 😂

Amazing to read about all these fantastic losses ......Happy we are all 'gaining health'

@StrongLikeMamma apparently 1 in 20 people in weight loss journey are on the jabs, however I have decided my default answer to anyone who ask me about my weight loss will be calorie deficit and walking 10k steps a day which are all true. They can think whatever they want from my answer, i dont give a shite.

@cheekysausage123 I suspect you might have insulin resistance, so you are likely going to be one of those that need higher dose to feel good suppression.

Shitzngiggles · 27/10/2025 08:29

My family know and my 2 sisters and a friend. I've decided if anyone does ask I will tell them on I'm on the jabs. It doesn't bother me people knowing but I realise that we're all all different so there's no right or wrong way to go about it.

I wish it didn’t bother me. But it does. I just feel like if you tell people, they’ll tell other people and I guess maybe I don’t like people talking about me & my weight 🤷🏻‍♀️

Icantfindanewname · 27/10/2025 09:58

Morning all. Quick question about...erm... tummy troubles. I don't know if it's the 5mg I started on Friday, or the codeine I've been taking for another issue (codeine hasn't bothered me before), but I went Tues to Sunday without going to the loo. I tried a laxative last night, and have some movement now, but boy have I felt ill.

I upped the mj dose, as over weeks 1-3 of 2.5mg I lost 2kg and the food noise disappeared, but week 4 the noise came back loud and clear on day 5, and I had put all the weight back on that I'd lost (or was that me just not using the loo?) I drink litres of squash, mugs of black tea, and a couple of coffees a day.

What I wondered is, is if anyone else has had constipation - did it sort itself out, or am I buying more laxatives? Or something else?

Lovesabadboy · 27/10/2025 10:15

Good Morning Fellow 'Losers'!
Love the term 'Gaining Health'!!

I did my 3rd 2.5mg jab yesterday. I lost 3lbs in the first week and 2lbs in the second week. A little slower than I was hoping for, but, like my daughter said 'when did you actually last lose 5lbs' ...and she is right!
I am hoping for another 2lbs this week to make it my first half stone.

I have told my husband, 2 daughters (who will have told their partners) and 2 friends at the moment, but am not going to hide it if anyone asks.
I will frame it as something to 'help' me lose weight and liken it to a smoker using nicotine patches or a drug addict using methadone to help them with their addictions. If help is out there, why should we not take advantage of it.
I will also stress, though, that you cannot just eat what you want and the jab does all the work because I know that is what a lot of people think (Including me when the jab initially became available)

Good luck for this week everyone!

narcASD · 27/10/2025 10:18

@Icantfindanewname I was just coming in to say since I went up to 5mg I am having trouble with going to the loo!
mom taking chai seeds, flaxseed (milled) and started taking psyllium husk, so far not really working but I’m sure it will, also a very suppressed appetite, which is good but hard to eat a balanced diet when not feeling hungry.

I don’t care who know that I’m on the jabs, I’ve been fat for so long and it’s my body, anyone who judges can sod off, everyone knows I’m on it. I’m in my late 40’s and my “don’t give a fucks” are in full force 🤣

cheekysausage123 · 27/10/2025 13:25

@Icantfindanewname@narcASD have made some fibre rich minestrone to try and keep me regular, will report back if it works, it’s got 2.8 of my five a day in it according to Nutracheck, and 9.4g of protein!

Could well be @jaelato1 or I’m just a truffler. 🐷🤣

I took a tablespoon of crushed flaxseeds (in my pestle and mortar) in my smoothie at breakfast yesterday… then had one tablespoon of chia seeds in my yogurt with blueberries after dinner yesterday - woke up at 6am raring to go! 💩

So added the chia seeds to my protein smoothie again this morning - will experiment with having more today I think. I prefer them to the flax.

I wish I could get my head around not giving a fuck about this. I am not usually so bothered. I just feel really private and defensive about my weight issue for some reason.

Codine is famously constipation inducing.

I’m also usually a very truthful person. So the thought of lying is stressing me out 🤣

I also think the fact that most of my friends are not overweight is what makes me feel a bit defensive.

Hello, I want to lose 2.5/3stone I also have asthma, also acid reflux which I’m on Lansoprozole for and so suffer with back pain on and off.
like you I’ve tried various diets and they’ve not worked long term.
I do my jab in the evening and it seems to work. Good luck and let us know how you get on x

Morning gang, bright and early here as our toddler doesn’t get the clocks going back.

Due to go up to 5mg today and I had planned to stay on 2.5mg but my losses have really slowed down and suppression isn’t what it was… Here’s my first 4 weeks of losses below, if it helps anyone else.

SW 14st 9lb
5/10/25: -3.8lb (14st 5.2lb)
12/10/25: - 3.6lb (14st 1.6lb)
17/10/25: - 2.0lb (13st 13.6lb)
24/10/25: -0.6lb (13 st 13lb)

Glad to hear it’s working well for you @narcASD

@LookAtThatMartinI’d recommend using Monj website, they’re all registered UK pharmacies and will have had to have the correct checks etc.

Hi, I’m the same not much supression either lost 4.2lbs in 3 weeks. I’m upping to 3.75mg today as I’m a bit nervous of side effects going straight to 5mg x

I’m a slow loser could be due to not much supression though. Decided I’m moving up to 3.75mg later this evening.

My husband and 2 friends know I’m on the jabs but I don’t want to tell family incase they judge or bring up all the things that are bad and can go wrong. My friend said be careful as I’ve heard bad things about the jabs but I bet she hasn’t heard the good things… she supports me but obviously dosnt want anything horrible happening to me like she’s read, I just can’t bring myself to tell parents and sister x

Hi everyone! Been approved to start Wegovy and should have my pens in the next couple of days.

Like lots of us, plagued with the food noise and been on the yo-yo diet train since I was 13. Turning 40 soon and just sick of trying to shame myself into dramatic weight loss then instantly regaining it (and then some) as soon as I inevitably can't keep it up.

Am feeling really nervous about the side effects - have stocked up on electrolyte tablets, ginger/peppermint tea, Rennies and painkillers. Also nervous about what happens when I've (hopefully) reached goal weight. Is it basically that you just stay on it...forever?

Hello 😊
The side effects are on and off for me so I don’t get them all the time, they differ from Acid reflux, feeling nauseous and feeling exhausted..I can go days without any symptoms sometimes. All you can do is give it a try and everyone is different. I think some wean themselves to lower doses and stay on them and then some stay on them for life.. not sure if Wegovy is meant to be used for more than 2yrs though in comparison to Mounjaro which you can stay on for life, I’m not thinking that far ahead yet as I just want to see the weight coming off such early days I’ve been on the jabs 4weeks now x

narcASD · 27/10/2025 20:34

@cheekysausage123fab, staying on top of fibre & protein is key I think, how did the soup turn out? I want to try adding flax into soups so interested to know.

went for a carvery today and put 2 roasts on my plate which I just couldn’t eat as was so full from the veg & meat

@StrongLikeMamma I know what you mean about being private about weight, I used to be the same, just say I’m making lifestyle changes, weight is private but friends & family feel they have the right to comment, my aunt always mentions my weight, “oh your losing weight” or “are you dieting” I just eye roll and change the subject but it’s taken years for me to not be phased by it.

I find the chia seeds nicer too, it does piss me off when they get stuck in between my teeth though!
I started with 5 grams then increased slowly so now can tolerate 15g a day which is about right.

@DoesItSparkJoyMarietry not to stress too much about side effects, I take Omeprazol as have awful reflux but since I’ve started Mounjaro I’ve actually decreased my dose, hardly any reflux at all now, the first week to 10 days I had awful bloating and was uncomfortable (I also suffer from IBS), now I’m hardly bloated at all, I actually feel so much better than i did before I started, my blood pressure is stable and I used to get daily headaches, I’ve not taken any paracetamol or Ibuprofen for weeks! It’s been amazing for me and I put it off due to my IBS and chronic acid reflux.
Don’t think too much of he future, think of it as resetting your relationship with food, getting to a healthy weight and changing your mindset, then you can tackle maintenance, I don’t plan to be on jabs for longer than 6 months due to affordability. I’ve 4.5 more stone to lose.
