Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Here for support, tips and anything else helpful along the way. 🫣

I’m telling everyone I am on Mounjaro. I am not bothered if anyone wants to talk behind my back, everyone has been supportive and interested. That’s family and workmates and friends. Many are in it themselves and I didn’t know until I said I was on it. I do explain that I have changed how and what I eat and that I am trying to get into lifting weights (it’s hard when I come back from work though!)

I had a few days of weight gain (just a lb or two) then dropped this morning so I am pleased.

My late pen should arrive today. The pharmacy apologised via email and it looks like they have given me a £15 discount so that’s good.

Am slightly concerned. I'm on week 3, took my injection yesterday but my appetite is completely normal. This is a big issue for me as I have zero will power. I've just ordered next month's dose at 5mg really hoping that helps. I can't understand why I feel like this, I want the suppression to come back!
I only lost 4lb over the first two weeks, and given that I have a lot to lose that isn't helpful.
Exercise wise I've felt very lethargic.

Does anyone have any tips?

I have several nights out coming up which I don't normally do, and I need to find a way of staying on track.

Honestly you'd think paying hundreds of pounds would have more of an impact on me!!

jaelato1 · 28/10/2025 11:27

@Moomthemoo First off dont beat down on yourself, we have to understand that the 2.5mg is a starter dose to get our body use to the medication. You have already taken the right step for you which is to up your dose.

My only recommendation if you dont already do it is to up your protein intake (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) because protein generally make you feel fuller and therefore not craving more food.

I was exactly the same apart from the first week 2.5mg did nothing for me, I’ve now upped it to 3.75mg a week early as I’m not getting any supression and hardly losing any weight either. I know 3.75mg isn’t actually a dose but I was a bit nervous to go straight to 5mg so we’ll see how I go on that. The 2.5mg is just a starter dose to get your body used to the medication. Good luck and let us know how u get on xx

Elliebearblues · 28/10/2025 12:59

I did it and upped my dose to 3.75mg yesterday a week early so hopefully I’ll get some supression on this dose. Touch wood I’m feeling ok this morning x

WegoGirl · 28/10/2025 14:11

Not much suppression here and no weight loss for the first two weeks. It also seems to be effecting another drug I take and making it less effective so I will give it another couple of weeks and then decide whether to carry on. We do all have to remember these jabs just don’t work for about 10%.

Clumsykitten · 28/10/2025 15:57

I’m a bit anxious now. Injection 3 this evening and I need to weigh in… have a feeling I’ve not lost anything in week 2. I needed to read all of these reminders that the 2.5 dose is just getting your body ready. I found the suppression so good for the first week or even the first half of this week. It was just enough for me to make better decisions with just a little bit of will power, but it also massively reduced my interest in chocolate. My clothes do feel slightly looser though.

Clumsykitten · 28/10/2025 17:19

Hmmm. Well, at least it’s not actually gone back up again…

Week 0 - 93.8kg
Week 1 - 89.4kg
Week 2 - 89.0kg

That’s a good point. I’m wondering how much of week 1 was placebo now! 😆

They do say slow is better and that’s exactly what my losses are like slow! Your right in that the 2.5mg dose is to get your body used to the jab before moving up doses xx

Moosey898 · 28/10/2025 17:46

I think it's important to remember that it's not a miracle drug - it still involves making a lot of good choices and finding balance, and it doesn't mean you won't ever be hungry or crave certain foods. But if it even helps take the edge off a tiny bit, quiets the food noise a bit, then that's a huge step forward and opportunity!x

You are quite right, and @Elliebearbluestoo. I was a bit overconfident week 1, thinking I might only need 2.5mg 😆

Clumsykitten · 28/10/2025 18:15

Also, I think week 1 and week 2 were different in terms of choices about food. Week 1 I didn’t feel very hungry and ate quite little, week 2 was probably a good learning point as I actually probably needed to eat more proper food and think about what I eat.

I think there's so much to learn isn't there! I find myself having to make a conscious effort to prioritise the foods my body needs first and foremost and then secondary to have the things I really enjoy. It is nice eating less sugar though - because I am not bingeing I am getting less stomach aches and headaches and my energy feels more consistent. Hopefully that continues 😊

Shitzngiggles · 28/10/2025 18:29

4th jab will be on Thursday. Suppression has really dwindled off but fortunately I'm not getting any food cravings, which were my biggest downfall, so I'm able to make good food choices for when I am hungry. Might try and get the golden dose with my 4th jab. Really looking forward to going up to 5mg, its on order now.

Really interesting and helpful hearing everyone's experiences.

jaelato1 · 28/10/2025 18:56

@Clumsykitten You lost almost 8lb in week 1, that's alot and your body is catching up in week 2. I'll say 1-2lb loss a week is a win for me. Also do you drink at least 2ltr of water a day. Water retention is another reason the scale don't move or go up if eating in deficit.

Ah yes! This all makes sense

Clumsykitten · 28/10/2025 19:20

Thanks @jaelato1- I think you are right, I am trying really hard to stay hydrated. And I think my clothes genuinely do feel just that tiny bit looser which I think is less bloating as well as a little less weight.

I did think week 1 was a bit over the top.

cheekysausage123 · 28/10/2025 22:04

Totally what @jaelato1 says @Clumsykitten- 1-2lb a week loss is genuinely meant to be what we’re aiming for as more than that increases the likelihood of things like gallstones (which can be associated with rapid weight loss), you’ve got this, just keep on keeping on.

@Moomthemoo how many kcals are you eating roughly? I know not everyone is tracking but I find doing my TDEE minus approx 500kcal helpful to give me a figure to be aiming for - as much as to make sure I’m eating enough. What others have said really is true though, the 2.5mg isn’t considered to be a ‘proper’ dose so fingers tightly crossed that your results will increase and suppression will kick in some more on 5mg - it has for me, so far.

Highly recommend the minestrone @narcASD - happy to share the recipe, I just added a bit more greens. Also need to follow suit with your chia, I’ve got some in the cupboard and definitely feel more constipated since upping dose to 5mg on Sunday just gone.

Glad your own finally arrived @Calyx72 and the discount is an added win.

Today I’ve done my second jab a day early because I want to change my jab day.
I’m down 5lbs and have gone from bmi 30 to bmi 29.6 - making me officially overweight rather than obese.
The suppression lessened over the week, but I still felt it a bit today.

I’m expecting to lose less maybe in week 2.

Just wondering if everyone has an extra 5th needle top in their boxes? Can I do the golden dose with this? Or is it just incase one doesn’t work for some reason?

jaelato1 · 28/10/2025 23:38

@StrongLikeMamma Fantastic, well done
I need to lose another stone before I move to overweight 😅
I don't have 5th needle in the box, had buy syringes from amazon to draw out the golden dose and jab myself.

PfizerFan · 29/10/2025 03:07

@elliebearblues how is 3.75mg? More suppression than at 2.5? Still trying to decide what to go up to...

Clumsykitten · 29/10/2025 08:24

Ok. Eggs and red pepper for breakfast even though i didn’t fancy anything. Protein and fruit/veg it is

Thanks. I’m amazed to be honest! ☺️

I’m pretty needle phobic and the pens are enough for me to deal with. There’s no way I could use a syringe 😆🙄
