Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Here for support, tips and anything else helpful along the way. 🫣

I’m so nervous to take my first jab.
It’s been sitting in my fridge now for 3 days.
Keep overthinking when would be the best time.
I have a busy high pressured job.
Then we are away visiting family at the weekend.
Worried about projectile vomiting and explosive diarrhoea.
Then keep telling myself to just bloody get on with it!

Ah don't overthink it! 2.5mg dose is deliberately there to help your body adjust. Most people get mild side effects at worst. You can do it!

Try not to overthink it, I was absolutely fine when I did my first dose. Good luck and don’t stress!

Same - I was worried and it was fine. Side effects are minor and manageable, no disasters here.

VioletandMauve · 22/10/2025 14:23

Day 4 after my first jab and the food suppression has suddenly stopped. I feel like I’m going to have to watch what I eat now, rather than not wanting it in the first place, which is fine. Side effects (which were actually quite mild) have lessened, although I still got mild palpitations during the night.

But this whole thing is so interesting to watch, in how my body is reacting. Looking forward to jab 2 on Sunday.

Edited

During my first week my suppression slowed on day 5. But on the following weeks it seems to have lasted longer.

Hi all how is everyone getting on? I was just wondering if anyone knows what happens when (a while off but still!!) you reach a healthier weight in terms of getting it prescribed? I’m a bit scared I’ll make progress and then they will no longer let me have it if I’m healthier but not yet at my goal weight - if that makes sense!! I feel like the medication is helping me in a few different ways so keen to stay on it for a while. I heard some people just maintain but surely they won’t let you stay on it once you’ve lost the weight? X

jaelato1 · 22/10/2025 16:30

@Sunshinesally77 I believe some pharmacies have maintenance program for people that have reached their weight goal, need to look into it more myself when that time comes.

Finally did my first jab!
Had a bit of a wobble right before sticking the needle in because I hate injections - but is was fine. Didn’t hurt all.

Going to sleep now. Hoping I sleep ok! 🤞🤞🤞

Amazing I think it’s the thought of the needle that puts the fear into you but as you said it’s so small you don’t really feel it.

hope you sleep well

Nandina · 23/10/2025 10:47

So my 3rd weigh in today.
Week 1: -4lbs
Week 2 : -1lb
Week 3: -1lb

I'm a bit disappointed as suppression was good for the full week and I was having 1,000 calories a day. No side effects. The losses are the same as when I've dieted before on those calories without MJ although it's easier as I'm not hungry.

I thought there would be an element of boosting my metabolism with MJ and losing faster? If I go up to 1,200 calories I don't lose weight. I tried it for a few weeks before.

So I'm not sure if I should stick at 2.5 next month or go up.

Moosey898 · 23/10/2025 10:55

@Nandina what was your starting weight and height, and how much do you have to lose? It's hard to know when to go up sometimes as it's unique to each person really and how you're feeling. What I would say is don't rush anything - even with GLPs weight loss should be steady to be sustainable.

Nandina · 23/10/2025 11:14

@Moosey898 Thanks, I've loads to lose and only 5' 2". I started at 14 st 8 lbs so it's not that it's the last stone and I can't shift it.

At least I'm losing but it seems such a long journey at one pound a week.

MrsMaudwatts · 23/10/2025 11:32

How's everyone doing?!

I'm amazed! Not weigh day until Saturday but im 10lbs down in less than three weeks! Easiest weight loss I've ever achieved (i appreciate its early days) because im just not thinking about it. The house is filled with healthy good and when I feel hungry? I eat a bit abd that's it. No agonising over what I eat or how much, or feeling bored with healthy stuff or wanting lots of treats. Fir the first time inny life im eating to live. Its anazing. Im a bit tired aa my sleep isn't great, and a bit bloated but other than that, no negative side effects.

If this is what people who dont struggle with their weight are naturally like, it's no wonder!

My weightloss has slowed down BUT that's to be expected. Normally that would worry me because it will have been a real struggle to have kept going. Now im not too worried, because If I can keep feeling like this, 0.5 / 1lb a week will be ok.becauase I know i can just keep going.

Hope you're all doing well. This stuff really is life changing

Yeah it's not super quick unfortunately and a lot of people who lose a lot initially will slow down to 1lb a week as well. Just think, this time next year you would be over 50lbs down even at 1lb a week! You've got this x

narcASD · 23/10/2025 16:08

@Nandina 1000 calories a day is low, I’m eating around 1600 a day on average and have lost over a stone. As you lose weight you’ll have to reduce calories accordingly and if you only having 1000 a day now, how much lower will you need to drop.

I’ve loads to lose too, I started at 15st 6lb, I’m almost 50 and only 5ft 3
today is a crap day as I’ve eaten rubbish (Greggs sausage roll and a full sugar Coke), I’ll have a healthy dinner to balance it out, I’ll still be in my calorie allowance.
I am going up to 5 this Saturday as I feel the 2.5 is not enough for me personally.

it might be worth upping your calorie intake, increase protein & fibre and see how it goes, 1lb a week is great though, but like you, I prefer to see quicker loses

StrongLikeMamma · 23/10/2025 19:11

End of day one after first jab last night and I’m feeling pretty crap.
Have felt a bit nauseous today so definitely ate less.
Bit worried about my protein intake.

Today I’ve eaten…
breakfast - cup of tea/ 1 protein shake (18g protein)
lunch - tuna salad half what I’d usually eat (14g protein)
Just had some greek yog, strawberries and a few omega seeds mix for dinner because I honestly don’t think I can manage anything else.

I went from feeling nauseous around lunchtime to feeling quite hot and tired.
It’s 7pm now and I could just go to bed. Trying to drink lots of water.
Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow. I have to go out in the evening 😬

Does this feeling go away?

jaelato1 · 23/10/2025 20:02

@StrongLikeMamma it does get easier, first few days are usually rough. Stay hydrated as planned.

Just took my 5th dose today (golden dose so first pen officially done and dusted). 1 stone lighter in a month👏

SW: 13.48
CW: 12.47
GW: 9:14

2.5 stone to go 🤷‍♀️

What is your GW - goal weight?

Wow - that’s amazing!

SW 14st 4lbs
GW 11st to start with - that will bring me to a healthy BMI as am 5ft 8.

Will see how long that takes. Then possibly head for 10st.
I can’t even imagine losing a stone!

Do you feel rough after every jab? Or do you get used to it?

Calyx72 · 23/10/2025 22:04

I felt knackered and no appetite at all for a day after my first jab. Easier my second and my third was much better afterwards. Then I got covid which was a nightmare! Back to normal now.

Oh that’s horrible! Did you carry on jabbing through covid?

Calyx72 · 24/10/2025 06:36

I jab on Sunday mornings with my husband
I started with Covid symptoms on Tuesday morning, really poorly till Saturday then started to feel better. I had planned to miss Sunday jab but by that time I was improving so I just carried on. Glad that I did Smile

FlibbertyGibbitt · 24/10/2025 06:42

Morning all, did my second jab yesterday. Last week did it with a friend who’s also on it. Anyhoo, followed a YouTube how to guide, managed it ! Whoop whoop !

First week have lost 4.5 lb so well chuffed. Happy Friday everyone we can do this !

jaelato1 · 24/10/2025 08:15

@StrongLikeMamma I only felt rough on Jab 1, i had headaches for 3 days and tiredness in the first 24hrs but havent had any side effects on other jabs. However some have side effects until their body adjust to MJ

I'm just 5.1 tall so i need to be 9st to get to healthy BMI then I'll probably need to lose another 0.8 stone to give myself a wiggle room

@FlibbertyGibbitt Well done 👏
