Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Same same @Elizabeth49 I had bought a 5mg but have decided to stick with 2.5mg as lost consistently and no side effects so figure another month on a low dose won’t do me any harm.

Still reading gang, just trying to battle this cold.

Amazing loss @narcASD!

Good question! I have just ordered my next jab and have stuck with 2.5 mounjara. I have been losing 2 to 4lbs per week with minimal side effects so I am happy to stick with whats working.

If your losing I’d definitely stick with 2.5 less side effects and cheaper so win win!

Elliebearblues · 21/10/2025 10:11

I did go up to 3.75 but after being ill for 4 days I’ve gone back down to 2.5mg. I’m definitely gonna stay there at least 2 weeks or more and see how I feel supression wise and what the weight loss is like

Shitzngiggles · 21/10/2025 10:30

Thanks for the replies everyone. Next decision is whether to go up to 5mg. Think I've pretty much made up my mind that I will. I've been having more frequent hunger pangs this week although appetite is still very much suppressed.

So today is day 2 and last night I had really strong heart palpitations from about 11pm which woke me up. Bit scary really. Funnily enough I went back to sleep but kept waking occasionally with them. I’ve still got them slightly this morning.

Other than that, the food suppression kicked in quite quickly and apart from that and some indigestion I’ve been ok.

But the heart palpitations have worried me a bit - has anyone else had them?

I Had this with the first two jabs. It’s quite scary but on the third now and I haven’t had it. I hope it calms down for you.

Thanks, yes I didn't have them last night so that's good, but will definitely keep an eye on it for after the next jab. Glad you're also ok now.

Next question- is it worth moving up to 5mg but only using 2.5mg at a time, therefore getting 8 doses out of a pen that costs around £200 instead of the 2.5mg pen which costs around £180 for 4 doses. Apparently this can be done by counting clicks instead of turning all the way to 1.

Hope that makes sense!!!

In other news: I am STARVING today!!!!! Jabbed on Sunday?!? Whyyyyy????

Good luck, I was scared to go up to 5mg so did 3.75. Let us know how you get on

How long does the pen last out of the fridge? I have a feeling it expires after four weeks.

Otherwise, that would be a good hack!

DakotaFanny · 21/10/2025 21:26

From what I’ve read, the actual expiry is about 6 months (printed on the pen- I can’t remember the exact details). I believe that if it is kept in the fridge it should be viable until then.

nb- please check this yourselves!!!! I’d forgotten this detail but believe I’m right. I think it is safe for longer than the advertised 30 days….

Rubiscoisfantastic · 21/10/2025 21:40

This is great news. I’ll check it out.

I think I’m going to stay on 2.5mg for the time being. I’ve only been on it for a week and a half.

PfizerFan · 21/10/2025 21:43

Took my jab on sunday and have ordered 5mg for my next dose as by day 4 I'm hungry again! Hope the side effects aren't awful...

SilenceInside · 21/10/2025 21:45

The printed expiry date on the pen only applies to unused pens. Once in use, or up to room temp, the pens should be discarded after 30 days. It’s explained on the paper leaflet that comes with each pen.

Calyx72 · 21/10/2025 21:47

Ordered 2.5 for my next pen. No appetite (had covid last week with nausea) so really hard to eat at all. Hopefully improves this week.

This appears to be true! Just been reading up on it and though there are incidents of doctors saying 6-8 weeks is fine, the actual paperwork in the box says 30 days.

So if I let it come to room temp to inject, because the info I have read implies that injecting straight out the fridge makes it sting… can I just keep it out the fridge then for the next dose? Or should I put it back again?

Clumsykitten · 22/10/2025 08:12

2nd dose taken.

Week 0 - 93.8kg
Week 1 - 89.4kg

I’ve been trying to keep hydrated but some of that has got to be water weight, right?

If you're using it like normal there's no need to put it back in the fridge, it can stay at room temperature.

Yes but it all still counts! 😁 It'll settle down a bit usually after the first couple of weeks and you'll see the pattern in how much you lose week to week.

I’m so nervous to take my first jab.
It’s been sitting in my fridge now for 3 days.
Keep overthinking when would be the best time.
I have a busy high pressured job.
Then we are away visiting family at the weekend.
Worried about projectile vomiting and explosive diarrhoea.
Then keep telling myself to just bloody get on with it!

This makes sense once the pen is open. I thought I had seen it on an instruction video.
If we all bought higher doses and just used half the amount, they’d be losing money.

Thanks! Yes I don’t think I will be losing 4kgs per week, although that would be helpful 😆 but I’m definitely watching all the conversations with interest about staying at the lower dose so you get fewer side effects, even if it requires a bit more willpower.

Haha probably not but it's always nice to get a head start from week 1!

So I've only been up to 5mg before but honestly didn't have any side effects from going up a dose, I felt exactly the same. Price wise, I'm planning to try to stay on 2.5 as long as I can.
