Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

(This is really mounting up, I think we are going to need some sort of visual representation at some point!)

RayonSunrise · 11/11/2025 18:34

Oh we’re tallying, how exciting! I’ll add my 63lbs, bringing us up to 496 lbs.

Add my 88 to make 652. That's nearly a whole grizzly bear apparently.

Novjaro · 11/11/2025 19:43

652 plus my 72 = 724 🥳

random223 · 11/11/2025 20:35

724 + my 63lbs = 787lbs

evilharpy · 11/11/2025 20:38

Over 1000lbs! Wow! A concert grand piano, about five adult men, 11 bags of cement, or a fully grown male reindeer. Those reindeers are surprisingly heavy eh?

In other news, ironically given the thread title, I’ve gone from having loads of winter coats to choose from to a dwindled supply because a couple are suddenly too big. I’ve got my Weirdfish warm waterproof (cute with birds on, though not v smart), a black trespass one (cosy and warm, waterproof, again not v smart) and a Fatface purple puffy thing (which I bought years ago in the sale, only fits now so god knows what I was thinking 🤣). So I have three casual coats (too many perhaps!) but nothing smart - had a minor panic this morning because I’m going into the office and out this evening. I’ve settled for the black Trespass coat for now. May need to either just put up with it (let’s face it, I rarely need to look smart these days) or scour vinted.

I am however braving my new Boden animal print jeans! With a black jumper which has an embellished neck for a bit of glitz. I’m not an animal print person at all but saw a lady on instagram making them look fabulous (petite lady) (I’m not generally petite at 5 6 but my legs seem to be in trousers!) and I decided to be brave 😳

On the topic of Vinted, anyone noticed the sizing change debacle? All the size 16 items listed went to 22-24! Fortunately I only had a few bits on so wasn’t too much of a faff to adjust the sizing (I have a pile of things to list). It’s messed up the algorithm though, all my saved searches went squiffy too. It’s mostly just showing me toys and puzzles for my DS at the moment, as if it knows the clothing has gone a bit tits up 🤣

Goldleafcat · 12/11/2025 07:53

Scratch that, I’ve just remembered a Monsoon coat I’d stashed in the attic (Vinted purchase, turned out to be way too small) (very inaccurately sized for a 16, more of a 12). I wonder if that might fit now?

Bit annoyed I’ve just remembered now but also relieved 🙃

(I’m such a hoarder!)

lovealongbath · 12/11/2025 08:35

Here is my first post on November starters threat 2024….

lovealongbath · 13/11/2024 09:49
I’m ready to start.
Have researched and googled ✅
Pen arrives today ✅
positive mind set ✅
I can do this 💪

One year later, what have I achieved?

I have lost 25% of my starting weight.
I have lost 61.8 lbs or 28kg.
I was in morbidly obese category with a BMI of 43, I am now in obese category with BMI of 33.
Size 22 trousers are now size 18.
Size 26 tops are now size 18.

Positives from being on MJ….
I have titrated slowly, after 1 year , I am still not on 5 mg dose so there has been very few side effects.
My psoriasis has completely gone. I have had years of pain, ugly skin, lotions and potions and steroid creams. All gone, how crazy is that!
I am bizarrely content with where I am at the moment, if I lose more, that’s great, but if I don’t lose any more, I’m ok with that as well.
I look tidier, neater and have more pride in myself.
I don’t need an extender seat belt in my DH van, I did before.

Negatives from being on MJ….
Dog breath, OMG, my mouth is vile when I waken up.
Hair loss. My background is tricology, I have an understanding of hair growth and loss, I have tried to be patient waiting for the hair growth cycle to restart again, but it’s slow, very slow.

Finance…..
I have been very lucky that my initial 2 pens cost a total of £207 and every subsequent pen has been free. I was one of those annoying people that shared their MedExpress code everywhere. Many people used my code which gave me a LOT of credit!!!
However, what I have saved on MJ, I have spent on shark face mask, collagen, flax seed, retinol and new clothes.

When I started, my goal was to lose enough weight that I could see my pubes in the bath. Still can’t see them without squishing tummy down, so I will keep plodding on .

Congratulations to everyone reaching their 1 year date and thank you for accompanying me on my journey.

💪

Oh, is that why Vinted suddenly thinks I’m a size 16-18? It used to know I was a size 12, and then yesterday it started recommending L 16-18. But it will be because L used to be 12. I’ve been trying to train it to recommend size 10 instead but it wasn’t playing ball, so I thought I’d broken it.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 12/11/2025 08:59

Vinted has been an absolute pain the past few days. Searching has been a nightmare and it’s showing me stuff either too large or too small so I am not bothering with it until things calm down a bit.

Loving the fact that our combined weight loss tally currently sits at 1007lbs - that’s worth a klaxon for all of us with sparkling

evilharpy · 12/11/2025 09:22

Make it 1008, I've lost another lb overnight! I'm doing a pretty shit job of maintaining but hopefully it will stabilise when I taper off completely as I really don't want to lose any more now.

RayonSunrise · 12/11/2025 10:59

Amazing progress @lovealongbath- I love reading about all the unlooked for benefits of our collective WL journey. Your comments about your skin clearing up are very interesting! It’s amazing how stress on the body can expresses itself. My mum has type 2 diabetes and has lost a lot of weight herself this year, and her rosecea seems to have improved at the same time. I wonder if it’s actually directly linked, or just a coincidence?

And now I want to go looking for my first post on these threads, too. 😁

Re: Vinted - OMG, what a disaster that update was. I’m so glad I’ve very little listed on their right now. Shopping it is a nightmare - I have only just become a comfortable Size 10, now most of my home page is size 8s or a size small but I can’t see that unless I click into the listing. I am not and will never be a standard size 8! I am not narrow enough through the shoulders, for one thing. If I change to scanning for mediums I get 12s and 14s (too big) or Mediums (fine for Zara, not for Jigsaw or M&S). I HATE it. And sellers updating their listings isn’t going to take the size 8s and 14s out of my search for 10s and a few 12s. 😡

evilharpy · 12/11/2025 11:14

@RayonSunrise interesting you say about your mum's rosacea improving. Mine has too, dramatically. I had put it down to being consistent with soolantra, but it has made no difference when I've used it before. Maybe it's the anti-inflammatory effects of the MJ.

jay55 · 12/11/2025 17:31

1061 if adding in my 53.

NSV for the week, put on a cross body bag I’d not worn in ages and had to considerably shorten the strap so it didn’t hit my knees.

Cantbesure · 13/11/2025 09:54

@evilharpy @RayonSunrise my rosacea definitely improved on MJ. I didn’t notice it overnight but I suddenly realised my nose wasn’t bright red on teams meetings anymore and I wasn’t having to put concealer on for calls. Since I’ve been off MJ my nose is redder but nothing like it was before unless I’m stressed or upset. I also get a loss less rosacea acne. And I’ve barely used my ivermectin, so it’s not that.
