Mounjaro Starters Nov ‘24 Thread 14 - The one where for the first time, ALL of our Winter coats do up 🤗

Mounjaropen · 23/09/2025 21:06

Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Oh my word. That thread is vicious. They all have a serious wedgy with their judgy pants i think.

I cannot wait to start watching it tonight! Resisted temptation last night or i would have done zero work today!

What did you think?

Well done losers, and those enduring plateaus without giving up.

I’ve had an annoying gain this week after getting the holiday weight off I expected a lull but not a gain when I’ve been pretty good.

NSV of a sort, met up with a friend last weekend and she’s joined us in jabbing, and has had great losses. She’s the only non family member outside this thread id told I was on them.
So I’m thrilled she’s now gone for it and doing so well. And that she’s experiencing the quiet brain too.

I think we’ll all have weeks like this. I know I did a couple of weeks ago. Very annoying indeed!

Weighing in.

W49D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:14st 07lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
3rd GW: 13st 9lbs
TL: 5st 02lb

Another pound off this week, so five and a half stone by Nov 8th still looks possible. I decluttered some ice cream from the freezer this week, to make space for some slow cooked stew type meals, so I'm glad that didn't derail things.

Off to lunch with a friend I've not seen since before covid in a bit. She has no filter so I was wondering if she might comment on my weight but then I remembered she didn't see me when it was at my worst. And then I also remembered that to would have found an excuse not to meet her when I was at my biggest, out of embarrassment, so that's a NSV.

Yes yes to saying yes to invitations - totally was me this time last year. Hope your friend noticed your wonderful losses!

Dh and I have exactly the same conversation. He's lost a lb despite not exercising this week as he hasn't been scoffing biscuits to compensate for training calories!

I think this weekend DH has been chatting to his mate and has now asked for low-carb protein rich dinners for this week. So that’s a result!

Thank you, they have been! From 92.45kg on Monday to 91.35 today! I have also just checked my measurements and I have lost 10cm off my waist and 10cm off my hips in the past three months so all very positive.

I am finding going low carb one of the keys to breaking this plateau, if that's helpful for anyone, but I also think upping the dose has helped.

I also might have to bite the bullet and keep on with 12.5mg, despite the expense (this is my second week on it). I have been googling the effects on the body of upping a dose if stuck and there are definite medical benefits apparently e.g. GIP/GLP-1 activity receptor activation increases, which subtly raises resting energy expenditure and an increased dose helps regulate enzymes involved in lipogenesis, such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase, so the body makes less new fat from carbohydrates.

Edited

Wow! That is serious inch loss! 🙌 Congrats on breaking the plateau 💪🏻

She said I looked great, but bless her she has always been someone overflowing with the compliments!
Hilariously it turned out her BF is on mounjaro and has lost a similar amount to me AND she used it for a few weeks too but was really sick on it so stopped. I'm surprised if she's over 30 BMI but steered clear of that potential derail of the conversation. She didn't think I could be obese at my current weight though, so perhaps, to quote the MN teeny tinies 'we've lost sight of what a healthy weight looks like'.
It was such a lovely catch up and I need to keep it in mind if I'm having any future social wobbles.

I didn’t check in this week as I stayed the same.

Thanks to @MagnoliaTreePetals for sharing Zoe podcast. The past couple of months I appear to have plateaued almost maintaining, even though I still have many more pounds too lose. The podcast was most interesting and I am hoping that having a better understanding and trying a different approach will kick start things for me.

However, if it doesn’t, even although I still weigh more than most or our groups starting weight . I feel amazing. I have more confidence in all areas. My swollen ankles have gone and my psoriasis has 95% improved.

With respect to clothes shopping, on reflection, for 30 years or so, I have very rarely bought an item of clothing because I liked it. I have bought it because it fitted. If I found something that fitted, I would buy more of the same but in different colours, again not because I liked it, but because it fitted.
If I saw an item of clothing that I thought looked lovely, clicked on the sizes available, you simple don’t get beautiful clothes in a size 24. You get material that is shaped to cover a huge body!

However, now that I am down to a size 18 which I haven’t been for over 30 years, I went into M & S and I tried on a pair of straight legged cords which fitted beautifully and a jumper that stopped above the hips. It was like an optical illusion! Instead of a wee fat dumpy hunched image, my legs looked elongated and went on for ever and with my improved posture, holding myself straighter, I felt taller. . I am no longer hunched over because of the weight of my breasts.

So I bought myself, not 1 pair of cords, but 4 pairs, in different colours and I didn’t buy them because they fitted, for the first time in years, I bought them because I looked and felt fabulous in them.

Last night, I was browsing online for tops and jumpers. It really is a total different experience when you can buy clothes you like. Although, I don’t actually know what image/look to go for.

Finally, this year I might get myself my first ever Christmas jumper.

I love everything about this ❤️ And as you explore clothes you'll find your style - what an exciting adventure! I love clothes. Adore dressing for the occasion - almost like dress up for grown ups. Going for lunch at the harbour? That calls for a nautical theme with stripes. Shopping with my mum? Then I dress as if we're going to Harvey Nicks. Any special occasion = sequins 😂 Enioy exploring @lovealongbath

What did you think?

Love it. Absolutely adore her. DH tried to make a snarky comment about her at one point, muttering something about the docuseries being a fictional work of editing and he got my best Paddington stare and a sharp warning!

I have so much respect for her and think she has made a bloody good job of creating Brand Beckham.

SerenePeer · 13/10/2025 14:54

Checking in!

No movement on the scales for me - i seem to be at a plateau. Had a hungry week last week too - but just rolled with it and eat more protein. But I did do a me360 scan yesterday - not done one since Feb! So that was a lovely motivator. And the pilates must be working because the trousers I bought 2 weeks ago that were ever so slightly snug at the waist are now not snug, so cm are moving at least!

Going to focus on upping my step count this week as I'm still letting MJ do a lot of the heavy lifting and I need to get my head in the healthy habits game.

MontyJinks · 13/10/2025 16:08

I know the lovely people on this thread are all at different stages of their weight loss journeys, but just wanted to give my experience of being at goal and titrating down in case anyone finds it useful......

From 7.5mg...
5 doses at 5mg
3 doses at 2.5mg so far....

I have felt hardly any difference in terms of how I feel. I do now feel slight hunger approaching mealtimes, but only at a normal level, certainly not the roaring food noise I'd previously had.

My hands and feet seem to have returned to normal temperature, and I'm definitely not feeling the cold as much as on the higher doses. My mouth is no longer ridiculously dry (was particularly at night and on jab day).

My weight remains within a 1-2 lb range at a healthy BMI.

I was approaching coming off with trepidation, but, dare I say it, it has been ok. Got my maintenance call booked with Oushk for next week. Really unsure at this stage whether to:

a) stop
b) maintain at 2.5mg
c) microdose at 1.25mg

I'm flexible, so I'll try one approach and if that doesn't work, I'll opt for another 😂

And I totally hear you all about a newly founded interest in fashion and 'matching' clothes to suit the occasion. I too am going to purchase my first ever Christmas jumper this year, along with an outlandish fancy dress outfit for a Rocky Horror Picture Show party 💋😲

I absolutely love an excuse to change into a different outfit. Having spent a day working/doing chores/stomping around the common etc, It is so nice if we are going out, to change into something different. I love planning what to wear now, just as much as I love planning what to cook/eat.
DD & I are going The Last Dinner Party Concert on Wednesday, and we have spent 2 weeks deciding, changing our minds about what to wear. It's a whole new type of fun for me.
Also, like @lovealongbath the joy of being able to choose buy something because I like it, not just because it happens to fit.
Happy Days!!

@MagnoliaTreePetals I've just listened to that podcast and am going to get his book. I've always done best when I have focused on fibre and protein rather than calories. I look forward to posting the podcast in forthcoming threads about how lazy and selfish fat people are so that the ignorant and judgemental can ignore it and continue to judge us in the face of hard science 😆

PinkArt · 13/10/2025 17:36

This is why you're my favorite bunch of strangers. I too love a bit of a themed outfit. A deep burgundy lipstick to see Cabaret, pearls to the V&A Chanel exhibit, a small hatinator for afternoon tea. And like @SerenePeer, sequined for any special occasion. Or any bog standard occasion.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/10/2025 20:51

Oooh, I love clothes! I love planning the perfect outfit for any occasion. I did this even when I was bigger, but there’s so much less stress involved now. It’s so nice to be able to wear everything I own - unless it’s too big. On holiday with my 7 bikinis, my friends and I played coordinating bikinis - we all wore our reddest one, then our floweriest ones, etc etc - just for fun.

Just watched half the second episode and the third episode of the VB documentary (DH had it on and I didn’t realise until I’d missed the first episode). I absolutely loved the jeans she was wearing in episode 2 with the white embroidery on the back. Off to read back through everyone’s comments on it/her now.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/10/2025 21:35

Why do all the VB clothes look utterly beautiful in the documentary but a bit meh on the Outnet? Is the Outnet just particularly bad at styling them? I am always annoyed at the lack of description you get - for those prices I want to know about the designer’s vision, where the fabric was sourced from, and whether it was woven by Uruguayan virgins in the dark of the moon. Tried to look at the VB website but it keeps crashing - possibly overloaded with everyone who’s watched the documentary!

lol. Netaporter is the original sale site, The outnet is where the pieces that didn’t sell out are placed. VB stuff is always worn by VB and her family members herself months before, so look up pics of her online / on her insta to see how she thinks they should be worn. Enjoy!

DD and I dressed up years ago with black dresses, pearls and up do’s when the Blue Box cafe first opened in Tiffany’s NYC and we’d booked breakfast there. I agree - calories are meaningless if the food is not nutritionally valid. And definitely affects satiety levels. Will avoid the inevitable MJ user bashing threads… even my Dr the other day was extolling the virtues of WL meds - “with the greatest will in the world, someone suffering from PCOS will not simply lose weight by eating less and moving more. Sometimes you need to help things along”
I totally agree. and there is more interesting studies to be done looking at how WLI are reducing CRP levels which are inflammation markers.
