Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Agreed. What a horrendous 24h it’s been.

Thank you both

Well my health check up went well today. They were pleased with my weight loss. Blood pressure etc all good. My HbA1c was 26 which was pretty amazing (thank you MJ). Weird mouth taste stuff is probably post viral neuropathy… will hopefully clear up in time but if not may need to look at B12 / zinc etc again. I do have some supplements I got from Nutrition Geeks a bit ago so might start them in case they help.

They did say my ideal weight would be 9 stone 7… almost another 2 stone from where I am now… Not entirely convinced as I do remember being mostly slim when I was a 10 stone 17/18 year old (certainly from looking at photos!) but I will bear this in mind. I also want to build my muscle through resistance training.

All food for thought!

I am feeling very on-thread message today. Have just purchased not one but two new winter jackets/coats - a cordrouy one and a velvet one. Both in a size 10 and both burgundy!! Also a velvet Xmas frock - only had a size 8 - and fits fine!!

Feeling a bit poorer though and really need to join the Vinted fun. I am still struggling with the idea of buying a 10 or even a 12 that I can't return if it doesn't fit though despite now having a wardrobe of size 10 clothes. Does anyone else struggle with this?

Had a non scale disappointment this week, have to pay for the flu jab this year, as I’m no longer hugely fat, or caring for anyone. I no longer fit the free criteria.

Me too! Last year the chemist gave me a free flu and a free Covid jab. Not sure why I got the free Covid one - I think she just had all the jabs lined up for whoever came in during her morning jabs slots.

I can’t believe I now have to pay £20 for a private flu jab.

I ended up in the Very Old People call up for the covid jabs. I was never sure if it was because I'd had a pulmonary embolism years before, because of my weight or a weird glitch that had my YOB as 50 something and not 80 something!

Available in lots of places - this one's Screwfix. I have already 'amended' several belts for myself and DW with ours. Timpsons not required......

You absolute star! Thank you

For those interested, I just had my Pvolve renewal through. It is $180 (£133 at today’s ER) for the next year and that gets me access to all of the live virtual studio classes as well as the 000’s in the library. If I were to keep up my 5 x pw habit (I hope to but I know I’ll be having an op at some point which means I won’t be able to do anything for 6 weeks) it would work out at 55p per class. Even in the 1980’s parish hall aerobics was more than that 😂

That sounds like a relief! Congratulations on the positive feedback. I think it’s important to reach a weight that you feel confident you can maintain, because right now we all feel very positive and there is no point doing something that creates negativity in order that you fit nicely on a chart somewhere.

I’m having all of my bloods done again this time with my B12 levels being checked. It’s possible the doctor said that it is testosterone in my HRT regime which is affecting the hair loss, and if I think back over the last few weeks, I’ve had a few senior moments when I’m not sure if I put testosterone on yesterday or the day before so I think I may have accidentally overdosed myself a couple of times. That would make sense, because literally nothing else has changed in the past four weeks. The doctor was really thorough and actually listen to my concerns about osteoporosis etc (my mother had it) and has also included a bone count within the bloods. Obviously the most likely cause is MJ, but I can’t see how this is the most likely culprot given that I’ve lowered my dose and the change has happened in the last four or so weeks…

Fingers crossed for both of us!

I asked about this yesterday too, and I’m not in any of the eligible groups anymore… So I think I’ll either wait until they are free or just nip to boots and get one there.

Oh how lovely! They sound fabulous.

I only buy on Vinted if it is new with tags, and if it is something like Zara , I know if I’m going to be able to fit in it or not.

Ha, I love a cost-per-use analysis! I’ve just bought a starter kit off Vinted (still in packaging, even) so am expecting to get started this week. I’m looking forward to it!

Squee, I’ve just bought secondhand Jimmy Choos on Vinted! So excited, I’ve never had any JC’s before. Gold strappy peep toe heels. Not for any particular reason, they just caught my eye. They’re a bit battered but they were also cheap, and they have item verification too.

Aww they sound just lovely! Enjoy wearing them!

🥳 start with the programme introducing you to the kit etc. You need to listen carefully to the instruction about foot placement, weight placement and where you should be feeling the movement. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be off! I find following the monthly calendars useful to try different classes and class lengths and then I also don’t have to choose either.

Start weight 19st 5lbs April 2024, weighed at my first visit to Slimming World. I burst into tears at the time. I thought I was only about 17.5 stone, what a delusional person I was!

Lost 1st 10lbs on Slimming World and then started on Mounjaro March 2025. 2.5 dose first month, then month two and three 5mg dose, then month 4 and 5 7.5mg dose, then month six and 7 on 10mg dose. Still go to Slimming World meetings and trying to eat correctly but struggling a bit.

I am now 3st 3lbs down. Very happy but paying £283 a month for Mounjaro and not working so wondering how I can continue to finance this.

congratulations on the loss so far!

What element do you think you struggling with re:diet? I think you might want to combine both your diet issues and financing the cost of MJ. Meal plan using chatGPT and give it a budget along with your supermarket and food preferences. Make sure you are getting 1g of protein per kg of your weight. You can achieve this quite inexpensively if you eat eggs etc (2 boiled eggs is roughly 12g of protein and they are cheap) and then make from scratch what you can. I make all our snacks from scratch too (popcorn rocky roads/protein coconut, cocoa and nutbutter balls) . Saturday mornings for me are cooking for the week. And you literally can’t eat a whole homemade cake because the ingredients are not moreish - unlike a shop bought one. You’ll be amazed how near you can get to the £253 cost. Do you actually need Slimming world? What are you getting from it apart from a weekly weigh in? Add those subs to the savings.

Definitely follow the advice above about seasonal work, selling on vinted etc. it all adds up. I financed my fancy new shoes using old gold sitting in my safe doing nothing.

Keep going, we’re all here to help!

Morning all.

doing my weekly check in. Today feels like a milestone as I was on the jabs for 30 weeks and been off then now for 15. So I’ve been off them for half as long as I was on them, and still maintaining my weight loss. In fact today I’m down a few pounds, which I think is last weekend’s running catching up with me. On the boob and bra chat, mine suddenly shrank towards the end of the weight loss and I’m getting used to having much smaller boobs. I’ve gone from a 32G to a 28E according to the boob or bust calculator. Although I’m wearing mainly 32Es as getting a smaller back from high street shops is pretty tricky. Now it seems I’m staying stable I might invest in a couple of decent bras and try the smaller bands.

Oh and my Vinted autumn coat arrived this week. It was a great buy and a size 8!

SW 147 bmi 30
CW 110 bmi 22.5
starting fat 36.8%
current fat 26.1%

So lovely to hear your positive updates!

have a look at panache, they do small backs. I recommend the envy range for a nice shape.

Enjoy your lovely new teeny coat!

Weighing in.

W48D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:14st 08lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
3rd GW: 13st 9lbs
TL: 5st 01lb

That's the first official weigh on that's over 5 stone lost as everything went rogue in time for last Friday, despite mid week success! I realised this morning too that my bra is on the thinnest hooks, so perhaps I will go down another size in the not to distant future.

I'm setting a mini goal of hitting five and a half stone by my monjournoversary, which is 8th Nov. I'd love to hit 6 stone but that'd take a miracle/ well timed bout of gastro/ a whole pack of Those Asda Muffins 😂

Amazing loss! Congratulations 🥳

Weighing in

On 7.5mg - but every 2 weeks, I'm maintaining

H 5’ 6”
SW 14st
CW 9st 6lbs
GW 9st 7lbs
Total loss 4 1/2 stone!!

Death jabbers, I'm very surprised! I have said before in this thread that I worry about not eating enough, but also feels strange to force myself to eat more. And that maybe I won't push all the way down to my goal weight and stop now, as I'm a good weight now and you know, price hikes.

Well. As of this morning, I am just below my goal weight! I'm pleased but it's also strange, let me explain.

I've not jabbed for 12 days and although there's no overwhelming hunger, there's certainly more interest in food. So I've been eating 3 little meals a day, not particularly restrictive although wholesome and diverse, e.g. Korean food. I've certainly had the odd cake and tiny bit of dark choc quite a few days. So I was fully preparing for a gain... and here we have my lowest weight ever as an adult?

Hopefully it encourages you that maintenance isn't that scary, and the weight loss may continue even off the drugs. And that eating a little more may not make you balloon. I know I'm not completely off, but I'll probably jab every 2 weeks/ when I feel like I need to, and see how it goes.

Cardio really makes my body drop pounds and I conscioulsy didn't do it much while actively on the drug. So now it seems when I do any, it has an effect. Could be a plan B if I do start gaining.

Does anyone have slim friends, say a size 10-12, who are gaining weight and talking about their struggles to keep it down? How do you talk to them on that topic? I have 2 friends who have always been a size 8, with weight now creeping up around age 40, and they keep asking for advice, I don't know what to say! Feels wrng to give them diet tips if I had 'help'!

Congratulations on that fantastic loss!

Any chance you are coming down with something? Could be why you don’t fancy food. Or you might just be super responder?

Start steady with the cardio - a fast paced walk 4x pw until your body adjusts - it might just be the shock it feels when you exert with no warning?

Edit to add: on the subject of slim friends, I’d say something about BMR rates being lower than you’d ever realised blah blah.

BlueWalker · 04/10/2025 10:27

I tried on a tweed coat in Sainsbury's yesterday. I have no need of yet another 'smart' coat but I was intrigued to see if a size 12 fitted (usually have to size up in coats since I am large of boob and am currently a comfortable size 14 in most clothing). It fit. It did up. I was dumbstruck and then checked the size in case it was on the wrong hanger. It was, but, dear reader, it was a size 10! As the kids said a few years back, I was shooketh. I consider that a vanity size related NSV but it did give me a little frisson.

MontyJinks · 04/10/2025 11:17

@BlueWalker I too enjoyed a frisson in M&S yesterday, took a pair of size 12 trousers into the changing room... had to size down to a 10...

Thought, well it's ridiculous, but I'll just try an 8... 😲 Perfect fit - I was indeed shooketh

After all these years (for me certainly), it's rather a pleasant experience, one I need to get my head around as my brain definitely hasn't caught up with my new size as yet

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 04/10/2025 11:20

I get excited now I can get into smaller sizes as well @BlueWalker But as my DD keeps reminding me ‘just because it fits doesn’t mean you have to buy it’ as I did go a bit crazy at sizes 16 and 14 😂😂.

jay55 · 04/10/2025 12:24

Had to cave and buy a coat, the rain in Manchester is an abomination. The 14 went on and zipped up easily and as I walked down the street I also realised there is room at the hips, ive never bought a coat that wasn’t tight on my hips before.

Thanks @MounjaropenI will look at panache envy. I realise I’m wearing 32f, I bought a 32e but the cups were too small and my boobs had the marks to show it. So I think I’ll need to go somewhere and try a few on. No good underwear shops on my local town so it’s either a big online order or going into a bigger/town city.

the weather is awful today. I had planned on wearing my new coat to a girlie catchup later. But if I walk in I think I need my old faithful waterproof (not stylish or a size 8!).

stay safe out there today all 💨 🌧️

RayonSunrise · 04/10/2025 16:14

Hello all - needing to vent a bit. I’ve dipped a toe into selling a few pieces on Vinted and my first item (a pretty blouse, barely worn) has been received and immediately disputed - the buyer is brazenly lying about its condition. I am absolutely furious!

Arglefraster · 04/10/2025 17:21

"Shooketh" 🤣 there's a blast from the past! When I want to horrify/mortify my teens I use the word "yeeted" 😇

@jay55I still get a free jag (asthma) but for the first time they asked me why I was eligible 😃 presumably all the previous years they just assumed....

I'm making my pinky promise to the thread that I really am going to buy new bras 🙈 unfortunately boobs are still gigantic (I think I'm currently a 36 H) so serious structure is required but I'll still try to find non wired

I wonder if the day will eventually come where one of my bra cups does not fit my head?!? 🤣🤣🤣 gotta have a dream!
