Being able to buy clothes in supermarkets/other 'normal' shops is definitely my favourite part of losing weight - it makes life so much easier (not to mention cheaper!).

PearlsPearl · 08/10/2025 14:48

NSV- have a job interview tomorrow, and everything I have suitable to wear looks too baggy and scruffy as a result. Popped to Tesco this morning, grabbed 2 size 20 shirts off the sale rack, and they both fit fine. In fact 1 I could probably have got in an 18.

It makes me feel all emotional, these NSVs, things I've always wanted to be able to do (shop in a supermarket), and now can.

@Doggymummar best of luck to you. We bought our own house 2 years ago and it's been a huge relief to know we're no longer in unstable housing, although a massive financial burden for a while, worth every penny. The feeling of safety and home is like no other. You've lost so much weight now, I'm sure if you keep a close eye on yourself after all this time you'll be able to maintain positive changes. Are you sure you don't want to stay on a maintenance dose though just in case? You could do 2.5s from a 15 pen, that would last you absolutely ages (if you don't care about expiry dates. I don't, but know it's a personal choice).

Edited

I might do, I think I have 4 pens and I worked out if I reduce my dose every 4 weeks they will last 24 weeks and I might ( better) have a job by then and it won't be such a luxury. I've just reduced my cc payment from £300 to £65 which is a bit over the minimum so that saves a bit. I've noticed no difference from 15 to 12.5 so I could return 10 next week. I'm still paying for them as they are on Klarna. Didn't expect to be made redundant but the good thing is the payout will pay for all the legal fees with buying.

Lovinglifeand · 08/10/2025 17:35

Had a whoosh today of -4lbs, after last weeks 1lb loss I thought my weight loss was slowing down and was ok with that and then suddenly 4lbs off! Very happy as I've such a long weight loss journey ahead. I have on average 1,800 calories a day (over 120g protein) which seems a huge amount yet the weight is dropping off steadily. Disappointing I am still the same clothes size although clothes are more comfortable now. Looking forward to when people notice that I've lost weight.

SW 28st 7.5lbs (Aug '25)
CW 25 st 10.5lbs

@TragicMuse its a good week for wooshes!
@Doggymummar how many pens do you have left? I hope you stick around, it’s hard but definitely the right decision for you both and you’ve made a cracking start!
@PearlsPearl good luck for tomorrow, I’m sure you’ll fly though with all your new found confidence (and the new top 😉).

I’ve restocked and restarted on the 8mm needles and they definitely make a difference for me - really odd!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 08/10/2025 21:22

You're doing well @Lovinglifeand

Hi all. Am reading all the posts and loving all the victories - NSVs and weight! Getting my head back into the game still after a week of lots of eating out and family celebrations. I definitely ate less than I would have done pre MJ but I think that I allowed myself to start equating food with rewards again. Doh!

On the plus side I have found 2 beautiful winter jackets I never ever really fitted into lurking in the back of my DH's wardrobe!

PearlsPearl · 08/10/2025 21:36

@Motnight how fab to have found 2 freebies!

Breaking the food= reward cycle is so incredibly hard to break. I think it’ll honestly maybe be a lifelong struggle for me as it’s been a lifelong habit so far?! Good luck, keep going, just reset and keep going.

WafflingDreamer · 09/10/2025 06:27

Sorry I haven't been around much it was my DDs birthday and then I had to do a 2 day course for work. I'll try to catch up later.

Weigh in number 52!!
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 14st 13lb (BMI 30.6)
GW 12st 9lb (BMI 25.9)

1lb down this week
Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 3, 1, 0, 1, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1, 1, 1
Total loss 94lbs / 6st 10lb

This marks a whole year on mounjaro and I didn't quite make my 7st loss but I'm super close. I've dropped down into the 14s, my size 18 clothes are getting baggy around the waist but I still need to shift a fair bit off my thighs to get down to a 16. Another 6lbs and I'll have lost 100lbs!!

GnomeDePlume · 09/10/2025 06:31

What do people use for reward when food doesnt hit the mark?

I had a small reward from work, a gift voucher for Waitrose/John Lewis. In the past we would have blown it on a couple of really good steaks and some very expensive wine. Now, I dont know what to do with it. I'm sure I will think of something but I keep looking at things and thinking 'how much!'

GnomeDePlume · 09/10/2025 06:32

@WafflingDreamer amazing achievement in a year.

Motnight · 09/10/2025 06:33

Really good question @GnomeDePlume about rewards! I've managed to spend a lot of money on skincare in the last 15 months 😬 And also bought myself a lovely silver bracelet. But at this rate I will be broke with great skin and jewellery 🤣

Motnight · 09/10/2025 06:34

Actually just had a thought - maybe the reward for eating well ❤️‍🩹 should just be good health 🤔

Lds1 · 09/10/2025 06:37

@GnomeDePlume you could still have the steak. Other wise I've bought things for the house that we've needed or things for hobbies.

WafflingDreamer · 09/10/2025 06:40

You could get headphones, a soup maker, skin care is always nice whether its expensive face cream or a face mask or bubble bath. Now I'm not so big I quite like using body lotion

GnomeDePlume · 09/10/2025 07:06

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 100.7kg BMI 39.3
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

15 stone 12 pounds. I'm in the 15 stone bracket! 5 stone 10 pounds down. I'm about half way there. I have lost 26.5% of my start weight. Scary to think that if/when I reach GW that I will be less than 50% of my SW. It is still a long way away though.

In clothes sizes I feel like I have hardly changed. It probably doesnt help that my shape doesnt seem to have changed. I really do need to invest in some decent bras. The ones I am wearing are more like vests now. I have never been what you would describe as 'curvy'. The toilet roll analogy is rather too close for comfort as I am still barrel shaped.

Sorry but that sounds a bit too worthy!

GnomeDePlume · 09/10/2025 07:16

Soup is unfortunately one of those food types which just doesnt compute for me. I dont like wet savoury food. Probably comes from a childhood of stews - DF liked stew with floury potatoes so we had a lot of them. I used to have soup so that I could have bread. Now bread doesnt have the same appeal.

Lds1 · 09/10/2025 07:26

I'm officially out the 10st losers club. I've put weight on and I have no Idea how 😞 hopefully it's a blip and hormones or something.

GnomeDePlume · 09/10/2025 07:55

@Lds1 if you are still eating the same as before it will be a blip. Our bodies arent combustion engines. It could be a perfect storm of hormones, food still in your body and a little bit of inflammation somewhere. Keep on keeping on.

I have also really got into skincare.

mo25 · 09/10/2025 08:43

How is everyone doing with loose skin? I have lost over 60lb now and am about a size 16. So far there doesn’t seem to be much loose skin at all but I want to lose another 50lb or so and am guessing that is when it will kick in. I’m 48 so not as elastic.

PearlsPearl · 09/10/2025 08:56

@GnomeDePlume get the steaks! Nothing wrong with a good steak.

GnomeDePlume · 09/10/2025 09:27

@mo25 I'm now 80lbs down, 58 so even less elastic! I am now starting to see a bit of crepey skin generally and a small amount of loose skin around my upper arms.

I'm not really into skincare beyond keeping clean and using handcream in winter when my hands indicate the weather is changing by instantly cracking.

TragicMuse · 09/10/2025 09:35

Great losses!

@GnomeDePlume what about the haberdashery bit of John Lewis? Put it towards some new fabric? Or a cool little sewing gadget?

Oh! I had a £25 JL voucher as a gift and I bought myself a new feather pillow! I am very specific about pillows and it’s lovely and puffy and soft. That was a good purchase!

SilenceInside · 09/10/2025 09:49

@mo25 I have lost 10st/140lbs and I am a similar age to you. I have got some crepey skin on my inner thighs, I have some loose skin under my arms, and I still have my stomach overhang although it's significantly smaller than it was. The stomach I was expecting, as I was very very round, and I have had two large babies and two c sections. It's never going to be what it might have been in my 20s. The inner thighs are the area that I wasn't expecting, for some reason it never occurred to me that I might get loose skin there. I am still losing weight, and hope that the appearance will gradually improve. When I get to maintenance, I will hopefully maintain my weight and then see what it all looks like after a year or so.

I had some sagginess under my chin, which seems to have improved a lot recently so that gives me some hope. I am open to the idea of cosmetic surgery if the loose skin does really bother me in the future.
