Well done losers!

I was hoping for a mini-whoosh in the next week. That was before I remembered we’re out for burgers tomorrow for family anniversary 😆

On the bright side it’s late afternoon so won’t be sitting heavily before bed. And I have the burger but not the chips - last time I pinched 5 from the teenager and that was plenty! The burgers are absolutely worth my attention. Chips are great but I can happily do without them!

I’ve done my evidence for Medino. Hopefully I’ll get it dispensed this week. If not I can go back to esurgery. They’re about £30 more but I can do that if I have to.

Rainbowcat77 · 04/10/2025 15:22

I have a question, have any of you found that as you changed eating patterns and lost weight you took up new hobbies or voluntary jobs?

I’m in a very nice position this year of taking a job that offers better work life balance (the last one consumed every waking moment!) plus my ds is a teen now and much more independent. So this, added to the fact that I’m not “occupying” myself by snacking and also not needing to nap (food coma?) so much in the day means that I’m having periods of time where I feel a bit drifty and unsettled. I do have a reasonably good social life but I feel like I need a new passion or interest of some sort. I’ve considered becoming a school governor or an official in my union but that seems like I’m just replacing the work stress 🫣😅
Does anybody have any thoughts? What did you do?

Rainbowcat77 · 04/10/2025 15:23

@Bibulous almost ten stone is amazing, well done!
when/if people comment do you tell people how much you’ve lost?

MummyInTheNecropolis · 04/10/2025 15:44

@Rainbowcat77 I find that I am so much more active and full of energy these days that I have to keep busy. I work full time as a teacher but have taken up a few new hobbies, most of which are based around exercise, I’ve taken up running and yoga and also go swimming at the weekends. I’ve also taken up meditation (not for everyone I know) and go to forest bathing sessions, sound baths and guided meditation. I’m really enjoying it all, and feel a far better sense of overall wellbeing, mostly from the weight loss but also from the new hobbies.

Rainbowcat77 · 04/10/2025 16:00

Thanks for the reply you sound like you have a great life!!
The Forest bathing sessions, sound baths and guided meditation all sound amazing. How did you find out about them?

I know I really need to also find some sort of exercise that I really love but, apart from swimming and aqua size type things it’s still all so hard and embarrassing that I’m sort of putting that one off 🫣🤣

I’d love to go horse riding again but that’s a long way off!!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/10/2025 16:10

I ventured on to a Wegovy thread.
That turned out to be a mistake.
🤣

The OP was saying how enormous she was. She was 11st 5lb.

FFS!

Oh!! I’d love to be that weight. It can be a bit depressing can’t it? Then three moths later they’re finished and happily talking about maintenance.
I have to continually remind myself that jealousy isn’t a good look 😫🫣

AlicesMum2025 · 04/10/2025 17:34

@Billybingbong wow, you look amazing. What a lovely waist you have (I hope you don't mind me saying that)

@ConfusedMiddleAger83 hang in there. Last month I was here asking about when people noticed a difference in their clothes because I was coming up on 4stone loss and had still hardly lost any inches. But it happened really quickly that I'm now almost 2 sizes down - literally happened in the space of a few weeks. Our bodies are mysterious like that. I'm now definitely 2 sizes smaller on top but bottom half (I'm pear shaped) I'm in between two sizes.

I went on a mini shopping spree this morning. I've bought a few things on Vinted but I really don't know what sizes to buy so, rather than accidentally end up with things that are too big or don't suit me, I popped into town this morning. I just got some basics from Primark, like leggings and long-sleeve T-shirts, and picked up a couple of jumpers and a hoodie in Matalan and Mountain Warehouse. That should do me for a couple of months.

I was really torn about buying any new clothes but things are starting to hang on me now and I look like a bit of a hobo. I don't have any clothes from my slimmer days stashed away so I decided to bite the bullet. I've been thinking that I deserve to wear nice things, nothing extravagant, but things that make me feel good and that I will get a lot of use out of. If I wear it until the new year at least I won't feel like I've wasted money (I didn't spend much).

AlicesMum2025 · 04/10/2025 17:41

In other news, I have now lost 20% of my starting body weight

Bibulous · 04/10/2025 17:57

@Rainbowcat77 thank you! I haven't told anyone how much I've lost. I'm too embarrassed that I have lost so much weight and still have a way to go before I'm no longer classed as obese Blush

But I have had some very nice compliments. I've told a few more of my family that I'm on WLI but if anyone asks at work I just "blame" my overactive thyroid.

Bibulous · 04/10/2025 17:58

@AlicesMum2025 woohoo! Well done!

Lds1 · 04/10/2025 18:09

I've not recently told anyone how much I've lost would feel a bit weird saying 10st when that's how much some adults weigh.

A few people have sounded very surprised when I tell them I still need to lost 9kg to be at the top of healthy and that BMI is not something to be relied on. One also said I don't need to lose anymore but at this point I'd still like to aim for the healthy BMI..

Lds1 · 04/10/2025 18:11

Also @AlicesMum2025 I've done the same with clothes, I've never had clothes this small so I'm just buying basics now and again. Just bought a few long sleeve tops for the colder weather.

Chinsupmeloves · 04/10/2025 18:23

5 weeks in and have lost half a stone so happy! Do get acid reflux, cramps etc first couple of days but definitely suppressed your appetite. I also really don't fancy greasy or heavy food and get full quicker. I find it wears off after 5 days but still eat less.

I know you shouldn't drink alcohol but I do like a few drinks and have thrown up afterwards a few times.

SilenceInside · 04/10/2025 18:23

I was put on the spot when someone was introducing me to someone else, and said I’d lost loads of weight recently and asked how much I’d lost. I was sort of sideswiped by the direct ask and just blurted out “10st!” without really engaging my brain. Well, I wished I hadn’t as then there was a lengthy discussion about how it didn’t seem possible etc etc. I have no idea why my friend decided to introduce me to a new person like that!

Doggymummar · 04/10/2025 18:28

Saw my other brother in law today, the one who pretends he is losing by running. He is in his late 60s and does look really good. He said to me blimey you've lost a lot, so I was yep 110lb now how about you. He said 7stone and we were both very smiley. It was nice, but I wish he would be honest, but I guess it's up to him.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 04/10/2025 18:29

Gosh surely at just over 11stone they arent eligible for glp1s???

I saw a sort of colleague ive not seen since last year and they said how well I looked which was lovely. Not saying re the weight but obviously it is that. I'm still obese but its now v obvious to anyone that I look different at 15st7 to 21st11 - yet those first few months I still think of as my quiet months as I was doing all the work, suffering the side effects, struggling with my brain but it truly wasnt visible. And yes it does feel many people are "there" after losing a few stone when for me it wasnt visible.

Im excited about the resr of my journey. I look more person-proportioned now although my stomach is still very large and im hoping that reduces moee.

I did buy a lovely size 18 seasalt dress ( i know seasalt are more generous than other stores. My stomach and waist wouod not be an18/and its v stretchy jersey - and ive had compliments this week. I think im finally realisinf my origional clothes are quite big and don't work well anymore. Bur they did for the most of the 6 stone as it came off!!

Ive got horrible period cramps. And its only 3 weeks after the last one. And im exhausted... Second week of 8.3 and im hoping for reduced sulphur burps ans a bit more appetite as the tiresness xoukd be lack of thinga like nuts, avocado etc.

Ive got work to do though... Im jealous of all those of you above with time and energy! Although mayve i wouldnt have taken on the job im doing now a year ago. I need to work evenings/weekends to keep on top of the worm and im exhausted.

Billybingbong · 04/10/2025 18:49

@AlicesMum2025 thats very kind of you, thank you. I don't mind you saying so at all. After years of feeling like an over inflated beach ball, I am embracing my newly discovered waistline ☺️

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden as daft as it sounds, it's quite possible. My interim goal weight is 11st 4lb, and my BMI will be 28, so I would still be eligible as I have co morbidities

Good god. I am aiming for 11st 10 which is the top end of a healthy BMI for me, but I’d be delighted to get to 12 stone!

I found those type of threads very difficult. I am on the most lovely thread for the month I started MJ. But it's obvious that I have a longer journey to being a healthy weight than anyone else on there. It upset me for a while but I found this thread and am now bouncing between the two and getting what I need from both.

TragicMuse · 04/10/2025 19:31

I did a side-by-side of my starting photo and the most recent one from about 5 weeks ago.

It’s quite something!

I’ve lost another 7lbs since then!
