I'm back to weighing daily, monthly didn't give me enough of a buzz. 158lb today thats a new low. The thing is I now have choices of what to wear other than one t shirt that fits and some stretched out leggings. I volunteer for a charity as a fundraiser, its just a monthly lunch and it's tomorrow. Normally I would have no choice and just wear a black dress now I dont know what to wear, even tailored trousers look, nice. It takes me ages to get dressed now.

Isn't it a lovely problem to have though. Who knew there was such a wide choice of clothing out there! 🥰

Billybingbong · 25/09/2025 17:12

@Autumnflowers2 that's really interesting about the longer needles, ive heard from a few sources that they make a difference.

I too have been having some side effects this week. Nothing too bad, but quite uncomfortable bloating and sulphur burps, and off the scale supression, to the point I was struggling to even drink water. It only lasted a couple of days, but was enough to make me think about dropping back down to 5mg. Trouble is, the 5 didn't feel strong enough for me any more, so I think I might drop back down, and couple it with longer needles to see if that works.

TragicMuse · 25/09/2025 16:36

I have been beaten by sweets today! No idea why. And it’s day after jab so I should be riding high on my little pillow of security.

Ah well.

Great losses all, well done @Janie934

And happy clothes-deciding @Doggymummar

Meh, it happens! Tomorrow today will be yesterday and you know you'll crack on as you have been.
I think we'll all need to find a healthy balance that still involves some treats, just in a 'normal person' way that doesn't involve every treat that ever existed. I've discovered that it's still not a good idea to have Pringles in the house, but that I'm fine to have crisps in generally and just enjoy the occasional bag of Hula Hoops or whatever.

So I'm what 3 weeks in to using longer needles and half a stone down ..since using longer needles ..8 and half stone off altogether
But I'm getting side effects that I don't like .
I wake up in a morning to swim at 7 ,and my stomach is still feeling full from dinner ..
Plus I'm getting a bit of stomach ache too..I feel delicate 🤕 .
I've cut down the portion at dinner ,and some days have a bowl of a light soup at lunch ..but most days I'm OMAD .
One more stone and I'm at my wedding day weight..which I wore a size 18 dress for .
A hundred percent...mj wasn't fully working for me ,untill I started using longer needles

This is so interesting. Is there any chance you could link the needles you are using please? I feel like there is no chance the tiny ones that the jabs come with get anywhere near me!

GnomeDePlume · 25/09/2025 17:37

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden at 39.9 BMI I will get 'the chart' rather than the 'you're obese' message. There is something slightly 'othering' about it whereas the chart feels like I will be part of normal society. Which of course is how very overweight feels anyway.

I literally went on Amazon and typed in mounjaro needles and bought the Amazon recommended ones ..they easily go more than twice the depth in

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/09/2025 17:55

I've got some of these, although they haven't changed my rate of loss. But they're good quality.

Ive just received this delightful email from my boss. We've worked together a very long time, and she knows the struggles I've had with my weight over the years, so this has really touched me. She's so lovely, the kind of boss everybody deserves 💕

What a beautiful message- you have a lovely boss!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 25/09/2025 18:31

I'm really struggling with sulphur burps. And I'm due to jab tomorrow!!

My 5th Dose needles are a bit longer (but I also jabbed a bit more by accident 😳)
I'm not sure I'm losing more though.

I'm thinking of jabbing 8.3 tomorrow as I could get 6 out of my pen....

When does everyone usually order a new pen. Do you tell pharmacies you only have one jab left even if you have a spare pen?

Iwouldratherbesinging · 25/09/2025 18:31

You’re looking fab @PearlsPearl 🫶🏼
@Janie934 8st! That’s epic, I can’t wait till I get to 8st, it’s not too far away now and I’m getting impatient! You also have an amazing goal that you’re working towards x
It takes me ages to get dressed as well now @Doggymummar, I’m glad I’m not the only one! Just this morning I tried on a combination of three different outfits and I wasn’t even going anywhere 😂
I need to buy some more longer needles @Autumnflowers2, I’m the same as you when using 8mm needles - but no side effects, sorry that you are suffering with them.

Im off to London for a long weekend tomorrow, and going to see ABBA voyage tomorrow night! I’m very excited, haven’t quite got the courage to go full on 70’s though, I treated myself to a lovely denim dress in M&S and some lightweight Lucy & Yak flappy chambray trousers for Saturday to wander around in - going to tuck my t-shirt in coz I can!
Our futures are definitely brighter 🌟

Iwouldratherbesinging · 25/09/2025 18:44

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I always order the week before my last jab is due - so order on week 4, last jab is on week 5, and I always have one spare full pen in the fridge. I’ve never had to tell a pharmacy how many doses I have left, they don’t ask, the only thing they ask is ‘when was your last injection’ 😊

namechange0998776554799000 · 25/09/2025 19:04

I've noticed a few people are mentioning hair loss, is that common? I only just started my journey (2nd jab today) and it's not a side effect I'd really picked up on, and would be such a shame for me - my hair is just back to shoulder length now after losing it all through chemo. Is it a general Mounjaro side effect, or caused by lack of nutrients etc? I'm having an iron infusion next week and trying to keep up with vitamins etc so hoping that will help?

SilenceInside · 25/09/2025 19:07

It’s a weight loss effect, so can happen on Mounjaro or Wegovy or via any other calorie controlled diet. I had hair loss after about 3 months, it lasted for about another 3 months and has been fine since then which is another 9 months or so.

I did lose weight rapidly at the start, I wasn’t expecting to or trying to, but I had very high appetite suppression immediately. Overall if I were to do it again, I would take the temporary hair loss for the rapid improvement in my health and fitness.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/09/2025 19:26

I don't tell them anything.
I just order a new one when it's been about a month since the last one.
They don't need to know how many pens I've got.

Well done on the 8st loss @Janie934

@PearlsPearl you're looking gorgeous!

Ah fab. Obviously moving away from Shemed I just don't want to get it wrong! I thought we had to evidence pens/gaps... I had to send a photo of my recent pen but maybe they aren't checking the date on it??

If it's that easy I'll, stop worrying!!!

SilenceInside · 25/09/2025 19:33

I’ve only ever sent a photo of the label on the box, showing the prescription date. Never been asked for a pic of the pen itself.

PositiveAttitude · 25/09/2025 19:40

Hi lovely ladies. I am sorry I don't post much here.

Gosh you lot can chat!!!! Sometimes I have over 50 posts to read and by the time I have done that I have forgotten who did what, so I give up on posting and seeming rude.

Every day I catch up on your posts and I am inspired by the wonderful NSVs and the lovely photos of slim people that have worked hard and are ahead of me on this journey. Well done to you all!!

It was 3 months ago today that I jabbed for the first time.
I am now weighing 2stone 8.4lb lower than I was on that day. I am not a fast loser, but I am happy with progress so far.
I feel lighter and my clothes fit better. I can be more mobile and my joints don't ache like they used to.

I am up to 7.5mg and am going to try and stay there for a while.
I have not had any bad side effects, for which I am grateful and know I have been very lucky.
I am in the fortunate position to be able to continue on MJ even though the prices have rocketed, but I am doing this for my health and to extend my life, so paying for it is a priority to me.

There have been times when I have felt really low and despondent about how far I have to go. This thread has been my lifeline and has shown me that it is possible for me to crack this.

We have a holiday abroad planned in February and I am determined to be a few stone lighter by then.

Ah yes that's what I meant. I thought if the date was more than 4-5 weeks they might not issue it.

Billybingbong · 25/09/2025 20:50

@PositiveAttitude that's the great thing about this thread. You can post every day, or every few weeks, but you are still among friends, and adding something to our supportive safe space.

Well done on your progress, you're doing fab. Over 2st in 3 months is amazing 💕
