My biggest side effects are being cold (hello electric throw again, I’ve missed you over summer 💖) and hair loss. I’m starting to worry I’ll end up bald. I’ve been losing hair for about 4 months but it’s not slowing down. Every time I brush or even touch my hair I’m getting a handful out. Hair in food, hair everywhere ☹️. I do have some regrowth around my hairline, but having assumed it’ll stop falling out soon, and it isn’t, I’m worrying. And I’m still not below BMI 40 to get on the chart, I have such a long way to go and I’m not losing much weight, so I’d probably look at going up a dose, but I daren’t as I have visions of waking up with my remaining hair staying on the pillow…..

WafflingDreamer · 24/09/2025 10:10

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne do you still have a chequp code that you could send me. Or on that note if anyone whose used your code wants to send me theirs then that would be great too. Are you finding wegovy OK so far? I'm going to make the switch and order my first one when I get paid tonight.

flipent · 24/09/2025 10:16

I'm still early in the process - but one thing that I've noticed is how strong my nails are.
I've always had trouble growing my nails, if they went past the end of my finger they would always break.
They've suddenly gone hard and long! Has anyone else had any positive side effects?

Doggymummar · 24/09/2025 10:53

My hair has started shedding again, I had a weave for 18 months as I lost so much. Hairdresser said it was grown back and up to me whether to buy new hair or have it removed. So I had it removed about a month ago. Hair is now falling out everywhere. I keep eating it and have to clean the shower drain after each hair wash. Im waitressing on Friday and seriously considering dropping out as I couldn't bare it if hair fell on anyone. I might have to have another weave fitted. Birthday is November so I could ask for it as a present, considering I'm still unemployed it's a bit extravagant.

GnomeDePlume · 24/09/2025 10:57

@TragicMuse that's brilliant about the dress. Have you started looking at new/different patterns to make?

I still have a long way to go before I really start thinking about making different things but it is nice to have moved down sizes. Next step is to have a go at fitting things a bit better. Too many of my tops are rather voluminous both at front and back.

And yes, I'm finding Wegovy fine.

No side-effects.

Suppression of appetite good.

Food noise also suppressed.

I had 2.4mg Wegovy on Monday.

I saw on another thread that it had made her elbows softer. And it might be in my head but I’m sure mine are too 😂

I'm so interested and jealous that there are such clever seamstresses on this thread.

I've found, after going from size 24/6 down to size 12, that all my much bigger tops are a very different shape compared to the smaller ones.

I still look at my size 12 clothes sometimes and wonder if they'll really fit me. But they do.

It's amazing. Keep going, everyone.

I've been losing weight since January 2024, so I'm approaching two years now.

I started at 20st 2lb and I'm now 11st 13lb.

I'm going to use up all my panic-bought MJ and continue with Wegovy.

To get to a healthy BMI I need to lose about another 16lb. I'm nearly there!

@Billybingbong sorry to hear you’ve been hit by side effects, they are absolutely rubbish. Hope it passes quickly for you.

Side effects a bit better today, thank you. I'm still feeling a bit queezy, but at least those grim sulphur burps have stopped.

A colleague on a Teams call has just asked me if I've lost weight. She said my face has shrunk 🤣

I was thinking about different shapes and styles - I have a lot of patterns that came free with magazines but which were outside my size (curses on the big 4 and their mean drafting!) and then ones I bought which came in multiple sizes.

I loved the MadeIt Patterns Groove dress (they sadly closed down so it’s not available), I was slightly outside their range so I roughly scaled it up myself and made 4 I think. I’d definitely make it again in smaller. Same for the Kitschy Coo Lady Skater which is what yesterday’s and today’s dresses are.

I’ve got a lot of patterns to play with!!

But I’ve also booked myself another personal shopper session for 5 October (taking my own advice!). I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings out for me to try and what shapes are around. I know what I like, I want to find out what suits and fits that I wouldn’t usually consider. And then checking my patterns to see what I have that is the same.

I’m really looking forward to sewing again after 2 years of doing hardly any because I was doing my MA.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/09/2025 16:11

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne are you going to dose with wegovy AND mounjaro at the same time then??

Did you go straight to 2.4 dose?

I'm v keen to hear about wegovy for obvious reasons!

I'm 15st 8 and still wear a lot of my seasalt size 22/24 dresses over leggings.... I am beginning to realise my "ah it's fine baggy" doesn't work for all things! I've got a couple of newer dresses but where we are really broke don't really want to buy much if by Xmas I'm say 14 stone and smaller again...

I'm with you on the hair loss. I have very fine hair, but a lot of it (or I did have a lot of it, anyway!) and it seems to be coming out at a rate of knots at the moment.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/09/2025 16:57

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden
No, I'm not going to inject MJ and Wegovy simultaneously. I don't think I was very clear, sorry.
🤣

What I meant was that I'd use up the two Wegovy pens, injecting weekly as usual, then go back to the MJ, because I have three MJ pens in my fridge. I did a bit of panic buying when the price rises were announced.

I've discovered (so far) that there's no difference in the effect of Wegovy and MJ, in me. (I realise that I'm a sample of one).

So as I only need to lose about 16 more lbs, I've almost certainly got enough GLP1s in my fridge to get there.

Then I think I'll see what titrating down on Wegovy feels like. Or I'll stay on it for maintenance.

Exactly the same, lots of fine blond (now white/grey blonde) hair, always taken forever to dry because there was so much of it. Not so much now 😬. I keep telling myself I need a BMI less than 35 more than I need hair… !

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/09/2025 17:46

So I'm very impressed with Wegovy.
It's been three days and it feels the same as if I'd injected MJ.

I hope some of you will find that reassuring. I was prescribed the maximum dose of Wegovy because I had already been on the maximum dose of MJ.

I know that a higher dose of Wegovy is about to be approved.

OP posts:
FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/09/2025 18:07

Ah that makes more sense! I'm so glad its working for you. Presumably its a lower dose technically on Wegovy as they don't have the high doses yet? Did you have to titrate up?

And when you go back to MJ - will you go back on a lower dose than you were on previously and work back up? I'm not quite sure how it works.

Although yes - with just 16lb to go it won't really be long will it! You are such an inspiration :)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/09/2025 18:17

It's the highest dose of Wegovy that is currently available. No, I didn't have to titrate up. I just went straight on to the highest dose of Wegovy, as advised by the prescribing pharmacist.

When I go back on to MJ (to use it up) I'll just go straight back to the 15mg. No need to start at the bottom again.
This is what the pharmacy have advised (CheqUp).

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 24/09/2025 18:20

Essentially, the advice is that 2.4mg Wegovy has the same effect that 15mg MJ has.
And so far, it's correct.

Yes, a higher dose of Wegovy is in the pipeline, but it's never been commercially available.

Before I started MJ I had a patch of psoriasis on one elbow and on my thigh. The dry bobbly skin has gone, but the is still some red skin discolouration there.

Yes definitely, that is promising. I’ll tell my friend who’s come off MJ. She’d only been on it a month with SheMed and I think the whole debacle put her off.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/09/2025 22:06

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Ah that's really interesting. I had read somewhere that the top dose of wegovy wasn't as powerful/equal to the top dose of MJ. Its ever so helpful to hear your experiences. That makes a huge difference. I know I'll move across eventually it's just when! And it does seem the pharmacies all do it differently so its great to hear your experience - thankyou x

GnomeDePlume · 25/09/2025 07:11

@TragicMuse I'm excited for you getting back into sewing. You are so right about the patterns on magazines. I see them and think 'not for my size'.

Plus size clothes are a different shape. Many people have commented about losing weight in unexpected places. We all think about bums, tums and thighs but weight is also coming off on necks, shoulders, backs, upper arms. This will all impact on fit.

Motnight · 25/09/2025 07:12

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne thank you for all the information re your experiences with Wegovy. Glad that it is working for you.
