That sounds difficult @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

You don’t owe them anything, of course. But maybe don’t tell your mum either if you think she can’t keep it to herself?

I told my mum in the summer. She told ALL HER FRIENDS. I was extremely upset and angry. It really felt like she was saying ‘hurray, my daughter isn’t so fat’.

Do what is best for you overall. If that means not telling your mum then that’s ok.

Doggymummar · 22/09/2025 08:36

People are weird aren't they? My mum asked me if I had my stomach stapled, I think she would find that more acceptable to be honest. I just ignored her and went to bed. She never puts two and two together and realises she is responsible.

Today is my last day of garden leave so I will need to signon, going to treat it as a fresh start and try and shift these last few pounds. My app says I can reach my target weight by the end of October. But it originally said August. Apparently I have 33pc body fat, which makes me obese even tho my BMI is low so I don't know. I'm also dehydrated so back to weighing everyday and tracking properly to back in the groove.

Have a great day one and all

Mum2Fergus · 22/09/2025 12:35

Had a cheeky non scheduled weigh in this morning and another 1lb off…so 4.5st gone in total. I’ve lost just over half of what I need to in order to hit my goal 🙌

Fffreeeeezing · 22/09/2025 13:07

Just had the most bizarre conversation with a guy at work (who incidentally I have known for a long time). No one at work has mentioned the loss. I genuinely believe not a single person has noticed. The guy was telling me all about how he's been trying to eat better and lose some weight (from where I have no idea, he's tall and thin!) and he's lost almost a stone and everyone was like 'wow'. I just want to shout 'REALLY! Are you lot blind?!'
I mean I won't obviously, that would be weird.

I don't even like the attention but it still irritates me. I don't think they're even being polite, most have mentioned my recent change from brunette to very blonde. I maintain that we as fat people are literally invisible.

I wonder at what point the invisibility cloak falls off?

Doggymummar · 22/09/2025 13:15

My invisibility cloak came off when I was about a size 14 I think, but I rarely go out, so I don't see anyone who is likely to notice. Honestly, your not doing it for them, so fuck em!

SilenceInside · 22/09/2025 13:17

@Fffreeeeezing I didn't get a single comment or even a second look, until I had got down to around 16 stone, so 6 stone down from my starting weight. I think that if you are above a certain size, that you are just categorised as "large" and people don't notice your actual size. It was only when I was not obviously the largest person in the room that I got comments.

Fffreeeeezing · 22/09/2025 13:26

I think you're right @SilenceInsideI'm just in the 'large' category work wise!

@DoggymummarI genuinely do not give a rats ass, this is all for me and my health and only me and I've never been one for worry about what others think about me. I just find it all very odd as outside of work I am regularly getting comments now!

mamabeeboo · 22/09/2025 13:56

I find people's comments on jabs and weightloss in general very fascinating and read with complete interest as to how people react.
My mum would go a very long time without saying anything about my weight, which I'm grateful for. She's been very supportive of my weightloss and complementary (without knowing about the jabs). But now that I'm losing, suddenly she feels like it's ok to talk about weightloss and every time I see her, she's full of her own pearls of wisdom. I smile and nod along, as I know it comes from a good place. But she's also one that never knew how heavy I was, so when I said to her I know what I'm doing, I've lost 6 stone, you know! She practically fell off her chair (she's only 9 stone herself).

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 22/09/2025 15:31

Today, I had my first Wegovy 2.4mg.

I shall report back. My weight today is 11st 13lb. Let's see what happens.

I am your guinea pig.

Ooh good luck Broon. So how does it work when you swap over? Can you just switch straight to an equivalent dose, or do you have to start from scratch? Do you have to leave a gap from your last MJ dose? Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you

SecretNameforMN · 22/09/2025 17:41

PearlsPearl · 21/09/2025 12:45

Our bodies are all so different. I am only 5.1, so look so different from someone my size but taller. All of my weight is on my bottom half thanks to the lipoedema, and my upper arms are as big as my head from it too, but lower arms and my top half have slimmed round down.

Congrats to @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne and @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden on those new number brackets!!

Hey PearlsPearl, I also have lipoedema. I am at stage 3, verging on 4 so my legs are gigantic and I have no idea if I will ever be able to lose a substantial amount of weight because of course lippy fat cannot be dieted away.

You can see this when people talk about Alison Hammond. Lots of chat this year about how she's 'suddenly' lost loads of weight so must be on the jabs, when she's been losing at a slow and steady rate for 5 years. It's just that people haven't really noticed the difference before now.

I sent them a screenshot of my 15mg MJ pen and they sent me the highest dose of Wegovy which is 2.4mg.
Didn't have to start at the bottom, thankfully.

In fact, they've already sent me Pen 2.
I didn't start to use the first one till today.

I had my last 15mg MJ a week ago.

CheqUp are great. My second pen only cost me £10 because I got so many £50 referrals. Also, the two Wegovy pens I've received from them have arrived with their ice packs still frozen solid. That's never happened with any of my MJ pens.

I've had MJ from:

Voy
Numan
Medino
Zava
Chemist 4U

and none of the ice packs have been frozen. Cold, yes, but not frozen.

So far, no side-effects from the Wegovy.

Usual suppression of appetite and food noise is under control.

Well yes - Id like to move over for that reason eventually... Crazy times.

But with still a big chunk to go I want to see if I can get some more off with MJ while it's working.. I don't know if I can do to yet.

Onenotsosmallstep · 23/09/2025 08:13

Morning all. Wasn’t sure whether to share as we’re all on our own journey, the tortoise beats the hare and all that but maybe it’ll give some hope to those early on with as much to lose as I had.

It’s 6 months to the day since my first MJ ‘jab’. I have moved up in half doses to recently starting 10mg. I use a 15mg pen for this and count clicks to keep the cost somewhat down. I’m 5’8 and on the cusp of peri-menopause at 40. My start weight which I’ve never shared anywhere or with anyone else was 24st 9.5lbs with a BMI of 52.6. This morning I’m 18st 8.5 with a BMI ‘back on the chart’ of 39.6. I’m so happy I could cry.

I’m not quite halfway to healthy weight (11st 10 for my height so 6st 12.5lbs to go) but it actually feels like I might for the first time ever make it. Even when I lost lots of weight 15 years ago I never quite got to overweight rather than obese. I know my journey has been quick so far- I’m guided by appetite rather than calories as I find it triggering but focus on high protein, nutrient dense foods and still enjoy a drink at the weekend- though gin and lemonade rather than lager these days. Expecting it to slow any day, as getting a bit alarmed about potential muscle loss.

Next step is to think about exercise, I’m enjoying walking more but definitely need to up my game.

Write @Onenotsosmallstep you're doing brilliantly! Well done.

I see that Wegovy 7.2mg has been approved for use in the UK and will be available from mid-2026.

That's very interesting. I knew that clinical trials were going on, with good results. People lost more weight on the 7.2mg.

Currently, the highest available dose of Wegovy is 2.4mg.

I'm almost tempted to inject another 4.8mg to see what happens.

But...... I'll wait and judge the effect of the 2.4mg.

Watch this space.

@Onenotsosmallstep it's really interesting and useful reading about people's updates, whatever they are and however their journey is going. So thank you for posting, and brilliantly well done! I remember feeling a huge sense of relief when I finally got onto the BMI chart once I'd squeaked under the 40 boundary.

SilenceInside · 23/09/2025 10:16

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne did you see a news report about the 7.2mg Wegovy? I would be interested to read the details about it. I do find it quite puzzling that it's such a high dose after the 2.4mg level.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 23/09/2025 10:40

Wow @Onenotsosmallstep That's amazing progress! Well done.

I am off work sick today and was looking for either of my little sheets I was recording progress on and can't find them 😭. I knew it would cheer me up as I've not coloured it in for a while.

I'm 15st 8 today. It doesn't seem possible. I'm still very round but I've been conscious the last few days that I can bend my body more ad there's more fluidity where my movement isn't restricted by literally mass.

Also. Although I want to get to a health bmi (and I know it could take forever as it is slowing down already) it hit me that in 2 stone I'll only be 8lb away from overweight... Which all seems much more manageble than "nearly 5 stone to go" or when I started at 11stone to go...

I still think it's so unfair that we can be 3-4 stone down early on - and worked so hard mentally and physically - yet it's often not visible, same clothes size etc. Yet someone who starts at 14 stone losing 3-4 stone is dramatic and instant wins!

You're all amazing.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 23/09/2025 10:47

@SilenceInside The current Wegovy dosing schedule is below.

The research definitely showed better results from people on 7.2mg.

It's three times the current maximum dose. That would be three quarters of a 2.4mg pen, which would significantly increase the cost (if I were to inject that dose from my current pen).

I think it also shows that 2.4mg Wegovy probably Isn't equivalent to 15mg MJ. However, that's what I'm going to stick with for now. If it isn't suppressing my appetite, I might try 7.2mg next week for the hell of it.
