Anyone interested in a post-MJ thread? For people coming off completely?

I wondered if anyone is coming off Mounjaro completely and looking to maintain or continue losing weight?

I'm half way through my last pen and coming off earlier than planned due to the price rise and fatigue with the whole process.

@Somethingsnapped welcome. You have the right idea of having a little buffer. That’s the advice I’d give anyone. An initial fluctuation is easier to cope with then.

Sadteacher · 24/12/2025 14:51

How is everyone getting on? I went to the gym this morning before my first boozy lunch! It’s all about balance!

RightImDoingThis · 24/12/2025 18:14

Gym this morning too as not at work. Weirdly I've lost a bit of weight recently and just hit 11st 11 this morning.

Not excited about tomorrow’s weigh-in!

Sadteacher · 28/12/2025 12:59

I am avoiding a weigh in for a couple of days until the bloat disappears!

Sadteacher · 05/01/2026 11:31

I weighed in on 1st Jan 5lbs over the top weight I am happy with. Been strict with food, drink and exercise since, and am 2 lbs down this morning. I am motivated by the thought if I am strict I have saved myself £200 which I can spend on something else. I really want to lose 4 lbs this month to be back in my buffer zone which is a generous half a stone anyway. This is the easiest month to do it with healthy living advertising everywhere, so fingers crossed.

RightImDoingThis · 05/01/2026 13:49

I really like thinking about it like that!

It’s a bit like, if someone walked up to me and said, ‘ I’ll give you £200 if you lose 4lbs in the next 4 weeks’, I’m sure I’d take in the challenge 😂
I’m not making light of how easy it is to lose 4lbs, obviously it isn’t otherwise I’d have done it every time. But… the first few weeks after the excess of Christmas makes it doable.
How have you got on over Christmas, @RightImDoingThis ?

RightImDoingThis · 05/01/2026 17:25

Think I’m a pound up on before Christmas? Means I’ve maintained at 11st 13 for a few months now.
Having a bit of a concerted effort this month to reduce bloat by thinking about salt, large portions, fizzy diet drinks etc.

I have just taken my last jab. That’s it, done.

I took a break over Christmas and saved my last 2 jabs for the post Christmas period, I do wish I had another pen though as I managed to put on half a stone in December 😭
I’m hoping a lot of it is water retention and should slip off after a couple of weeks of detoxing. I am doing dry Jan and veganuary so hopefully that should help.
In all honesty I’m still well within a healthy range, and a stone lower than my original goal weight, but I kept giving myself a bigger and bigger buffer, and ended up with a BMI of 20, and I liked it and want to get back there! So that’s my aim for January, shift this half a stone while cold turkey off the jabs. Wish me luck!

Edited to add I have been on a maintenance dose for approx 6 months. I have lost a total of 7 stone in the last 18 months.

Wishing you good luck! How will you keep your protein goals while going vegan? I find it hard enough and resort to UPF protein drinks and lots of fish and chicken…..

OntheTrainX · 06/01/2026 12:54

I gained 3lbs in Dec. Or 1.3 kg.

I’m ok with that because I know I can drop it with zero alcohol/crisps/choc in January - plus a bit more exercise (I already do quite a lot). The last few days have been good in terms of food and activity and I think I’ll stick at it.

I really believe that I’ll keep the weight off post-MJ for good, with small blips during holidays and Christimas which I’ll resolve immediately afterwards.

In honesty, I say veganuary, but actually it’s vegetarianuary as I’m still eating dairy.

I like the protein yogurts from Aldi, and still eating cheese etc.

Also lots of pulses and grains.

Good luck to people pushing on through January!

Hi can I ask how you’re all doing without the jabs? I made the decision to stop them due to hair thinning and worrying constipation 3 weeks ago but I am sooo hungry all the time now.

More hungry than you were pre WLI, or just hungry compared to when you were on it?

Serasar · 10/01/2026 17:36

Hungry compared to when I was on it. I’m constantly thinking about what to eat. I hadn’t realised how lovely it was to not have that since last April!

RightImDoingThis · 10/01/2026 17:38

Same here, belly-rumbling hunger, so real hunger rather than "food noise". I prioritise fibre and protein and have completely removed all "free sugars" from my diet since New Year's Eve.

Edit - when I say "real hunger" I didn't mean to cause offensive. I should have said "physical hunger", like caused by ghrelin.

OP posts:
Serasar · 10/01/2026 18:01

No, I get real hunger. I feel the same. I don’t know whether to get another pen or leave it for a while. My hair seemed ok with using 3.75 out of a 5mg pen but as soon as i went up a bit, I wasn’t eating properly (which suited me) and my hair became so thin. The constipation can’t be healthy either and so painful! Oh decisions, decisions

tinyemmy · 10/01/2026 20:52

I last jabbed 22 December, but I did start ADHD medication in January. I'm on the lowest dose of ADHD medication which isn't helping too much at the moment. I binged through most of December whilst being on 2.5mg which out my weight up 2.5kg from the lowest. I'm now actively trying to lose it (although Christmas goodies keep sabotaging me!). I would really like to see the scales go down rather than up now!!
If I put another 2lbs on I will be grabbing my emergency pen from the fridge. I believe I have gotten rid of all Christmas goodies so hopefully I can make the scales go down on my own 🤞
I go skiing in 5 weeks and want to be back to my lowest weight by then (I fully expect to put weight on whilst skiing!!)

EdinaTheConfessor · 10/01/2026 21:22

I’ve started taking berberine with meals, which does seem to make me fuller quicker, not sure if it’s a placebo though or maybe because I’m so used to eating smaller portions psychologically I feel full after a small portion?
Not shifted much of this half a stone yet though. I forgot it was so much harder to lose weight when you don’t have as much to lose 😭

Berberine definitely works, if I took liquid berberine when I was on the jabs, I would end up shaking from low blood sugar and needed to eat something quickly. it's better to use to curb my between meal snack cravings in 10 mins. I take it on lower suppression days and will take it again daily when I fully come off. Currently in maintenance on wegovy, taking 1.36mg as tapering down and 1.7 was too strong, stronger than 10mg mj. Next pen will go down further.

Berberine does work. It’s not designed to fill you up though, it’s about managing blood sugar.

@Mysticmaiden @EdinaTheConfessor where do you buy your berberine?

@Mysticmaiden @EdinaTheConfessor where do you buy your berberine?

I get a generic brand liquid berberine from amazon. If you search for liquid berberine just one that comes up as all the same for ingredients.
