Anybody just starting Wegovy?

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

Morning,

so further to yesterdays post, I can’t deny my weight has gone up.

I guess it’s a reminder that this isn’t a magic wand and I need to put more effort in.

I would like to buy a weighted hula hoop, I’ve seen some adverts online which boast great results…but of course, they would.

I had one years ago and got rid of it as it was quite painful (hard, wavy plastic) so not sure if I’ll just be making the same mistake again.

If anyone has a good one or can recommend one I’d appreciate it.

Me again.

Definitely having some toileting trouble and will need to try something.

Seem to be quite constipated for a few days and then when I finally do go there’s a sense of urgency and then diarrhoea.

Not sure what to try for this. Maybe fybogel?

Senna tablets, at the first sign of trouble.

just done my week 2 weight in total loss for the two weeks 600g 😂😂 got to laugh else I’d cry if I lose nothing at higher dose I’m giving up, I can’t believe that this still isn’t working for me despite the calorie reduction & increased water. I’m tempted to change to mj but the side effects scare me & I didn’t want rapid weight loss - this is way too slow though!!

Blondebombsite - for the bowel issues make sure you are drinking enough as well, I hope it resolves

blondebombsite13 · 01/10/2025 08:00

Morning @PuzzlingRecluse, what dose are you on?

Im just about to weigh myself, hoping for a bit of a loss.

im the same as you - i worried MJ would be too fast and I didn’t want a lot of loose skin etc. Then moaning that this is too slow, but in reality I think I’m just being impatient.

I also think I was just getting a bit complacent. I had a few late night bags of crisps and slices of toast instead of just going to sleep mildly hungry, which is what I knew I should have done.

Will update once I’ve done my weigh in….

I feel your pain! Its so frustrating when you are doing all the things you're meant to and the scales still aren't dropping!

We probably are all just being very impatient 😆 but its difficult when you are trying so hard and getting nothing back isn't it?!

I'm poorly with a bad cold this week, so not sure if its a combination but ive definitely felt more nausea after doing my 3rd injection and my bowels are not normal! Nothings awful but everything just feels really 'off' and rubbish. Just generally feel like poop this week and would like to hibernate and wake up having lost 4lb and feeling normal!

Sorry, thats just a whole post of moaning.

I hope everyone else has a positive week and has some losses even if they are small ones

blondebombsite13 · 01/10/2025 12:42

Hey @VintagePear

another day and no progress for me (charts attached).

I will admit though that I have probably been complacent and need to try harder.

I am also struggling with the bowel issues. Going to try and get something today to keep things moving. Fybogel or senna or something.

Oh let me know if you have any luck with anything.
I've been taking psyllium husk but keep forgetting it so have only had it a few times and hasn't done much so far annoyingly!

Hopefully next week you'll have a better week on the scales. But you're still down a lot from when you started!

EducatingArti · 01/10/2025 13:39

In finding that taking inulin every morning and magnesium each night is helping with constipation, It still isn't back to normal though so if it doesn't improve further I'll add in psyllium husk. I think if you are taking psyllium husk you also need to greatly increase your fluid intake.

I'm 12 days from start of first dose and think I may have lost a pound!

blondebombsite13 · 01/10/2025 16:00

I didn’t manage to get to the shops today so didn’t get anything for the constipation.

I do have a lot of kiwis in the fruitbowl though so going to try those, apparently they are very good at getting things moving.

Im also in the strange situation where I feel hungry and my stomach is rumbling….but I just don’t really feel like eating anything. And when I do it’s probably the wrong things.

so I have just ordered some protein powder. I’ve never used it before but looks like it will just mix with milk to make a strawberry milkshake so will give that a go.

You can buy senna from Amazon and EBay.

Thanks! I’m looking now.

they seem to say for occasional use and overuse can be harmful.

is that ok?

or is there a milder one I can get for everyday use?

Using 2 - 4 senna tabs a couple of times a week would not be overuse.

(All laxatives tell you not to use them daily)

Docusate capsules are also useful.

I have a lot of experience with constipation (previous lifetime of IBS and thyroid disease). The best things I've found are high dose vitamin C tablets (500mg once or twice a day) and flaxseed with lots and lots of water - about a tbsp a day. Magnesium as a pp suggested is also worth adding in.

Psyllium husk does nothing ime.

Obviously trying to get in at least 30g of fibre a day plus lots of water is very good for you and will help bowel function. But the vitamin c and flaxseed combo would always get even the worst constipation going. If you've had it a while it may take a few days to work.

Things like Movicol also did nothing but give me wind and bloating. Lactulose was just OK.

Senna you should only take for short periods as longer term use can stop your bowel working normally. You also lose more of your electrolytes with your stool when you use senna, so using it too much can lead to electrolyte imbalance - this can also be an issue when using weight loss jabs, so more of a reason to be cautious if using both.

blondebombsite13 · 03/10/2025 09:42

@WeightLossWoes thank you for the tips. Fingers crossed I can get back to normal a bit in this regard.

Very happy to see the scales moving a bit in the right direction this time.

11 stone 8.6, so a new low….hoping to see 11 stone 7 soon but I think I’m really going to have to increase the exercise.

Still nobody has noticed the weight loss, even though at almost a stone now.

I think I can see a difference in my waist. My tummy is soft and still has the line / overhang but I think that’s going to take exercise to improve.

I also have quite bad saddlebags (I think this is what they are called), kind of on and above my hips.

I had thought they would be the first to go as it’s obviously where most of my weight is, but I don’t think they’ve gone down much.

I thought my face looked slimmer but a trip to the hairdressers yesterday unfortunately showed my double chin / no jawline in all its glory.

Likewise, looking in the mirror after a shower the other day I thought I looked ok…..but photos from a work event last night showed me looking big and much the same as usual.

I think I’ve probably been in denial for a longtime about quite how big I was.

Anybody just starting Wegovy?

Yes. You've started at quite a low weight really, though.
I was over 20st when I started WLI.

If you started at 12st 7lb, that's actually half a stone less than I'm at now.

It's all relative. I couldn't imagine thinking that I was big at a weight of 11st 8lb! My goal isn't far off that.

Here's a picture of me at 12st 2lb. Not too enormous, really.

blondebombsite13 · 03/10/2025 11:26

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOneYou look fantastic!

So you have got down to that from 20 stone? That’s amazing, well done. How long have you been on the jabs? Wegovy or MJ?

Yes, it is all relative and since seeing other people’s experiences and hearing their starting weight and goals I realise how different everybody is.

I am very very short, which is why I’m carrying a lot of excess weight even though to somebody taller it would be a fine weight.

When I was younger I was 7 stone, which was fine for me but would be skeletal on somebody taller.

I could feel it in my knees. They were really struggling with the excess weight.

I have a couple of friends who are also quite short and whose weight is higher than it should be. But they are curvy - all boobs and bum and look great and very feminine. (Obviously their health may not be great, but purely on looks, it suits them).

Whereas with me, my weight is all in my hips, tummy, thighs, face, neck and arms ShockSad

Not a good look.

I think I very much was in denial.

Oh dear
I don't think this thread is for me
12 stone 7 is less than I actually think I will be able to get down to .
In fact if I make it to 14 stone it will be an absolute miracle
I started at a very very high weight..and have so far lost over 8 stone..I still have more to loose as well
Never mind

Why is the thread not for you?

Because I’m very short meaning that I tip into the obese category at a much lower weight than you?

Anybody is welcome to join in here. It’s perhaps just worth noting that perhaps percentages would be a better measure than lbs when comparing yourself to others.

I know it says Mounjaro in the title, but there are several posters who are now on Wegovy as a result of the price increases. It's great to chat to other people who are on a similar journey.

I'm just a bit sensitive probably.
It's hard seeing people think a weight I will never get to
is something that someone thought was so bad
they were in denial about
.but yeah ,I'm just being sensitive.

Hiya! It's nice to have somewhere to talk about it freely isn't it?!
Ive been constantly trying to loose weight for the last 10 years, I'll lose half a stone or stone and then it creeps back on because of bad habits. Hoping wegovy will me a long enough stretch that I can break those habits and retrain my brain and stomach.

My bmi is 30, but ideally I'd loose 3 stone to get to my pre child weight - which just sounds so much im not sure if it'll happen in the amount of time I can afford wegovy for! At the same time I'd rather loose slowly to avoid side effects etc and have a better chance at maintaining the weight.

Anyway, its nice to have a bunch of us going through similar things so we can chat about it!

Hi I'm new to all this and am exactly in your position age and all! I'm scared to start ordering because of side effects. I only want to do it short term but is that ok? I only want to lose 5kg...
