Anybody just starting Wegovy?

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

Forgot to say, problem area is very much tummy and hips. Probably face and neck too.

Boobs are small but fairly full and not looking forward to them deflating Blush

Hello, not much action on here Grinbut thought I would update just as a record for myself, if anybody else wants to join in that’s a bonus.

so it’s been 6 days since my first jab.

Weight this morning 12 stone 3

so on paper a 7 pound loss, but in practice I’m not so sure. My weight does fluctuate a lot and the 12 stone 10 starting weight was a bit of a blip, I’m not usually that heavy.

I am short so the weight really shows on me and I have PCOS so my weight can fluctuate a lot during the month.

I haven’t felt much different since the jab last week. Possibly a bit lightheaded, bit of a headache. I have possibly felt a bit of appetite suppression but not sure.

I have 3 more jabs at the low dose before moving up. I’m nervous that the low dose isn’t doing anything. Likewise, if it does work, I’m nervous about moving up the higher dose.

Anyway, will see how it goes.

Day off today so going to do some meal prep.

I woke up with quite a bad headache this morning, and had a small amount of dizziness yesterday (until I ate). I've drunk what feels like litres of water.

I also have a period today and it's a nasty one, which never helps.

I can't say I've felt a huge amount of appetite suppression. But when hunger does start to kick in, I get really starving. Not my weigh-in until Friday and I'm resisting the temptation for a scales-peek. I suspect with the period bloating I won't like what I see anyway!

blondebombsite13 · 02/09/2025 11:24

@SerafinasGooseits a strange one, isn’t it.

I guess I thought this would be like a magic wand. But it really isn’t. You need to be in a calorie deficit and eat well and exercise or it just won’t work.

How much are you hoping to lose?

I’ve had the strange sensation where my tummy is rumbling but my brain just doesn’t really want food.

I do still get hungry, but a lot of the time it’s like a low level hunger, as opposed to how I usually am, where I struggle to think about anything except food.

It has shown me that my eating was “disordered” - I was eating far more than I needed, but the urge to do so was just so strong.

I agree. The way I see WLI is as a 'prop' to help me through the long phase of breaking long-held bad habits.

What brought me here was bingeing (emotional and likely linked to past), sugar addiction and insatiable cravings. My worst food for bingeing has been crisps. I've come to the conclusion that I just shouldn't eat them any more.

My permanent change will be to ditch UPFs and most sugar. I'm currently using a calorie counter app, which I don't want to do forever, but may have to. Carbs, I'll still eat limited quantities of oats, lentils and brown rice. The bread, potatoes (wail, my favourite!) and pasta (which I can mostly happily live without) will have to go. The hardest bit will be not putting it all back on at a later point - as I'll be damned if I'm putting myself through this just to end up back where I started a few years down the track. And it's getting harder and harder to lose as I get older.

I want 3 st off.

blondebombsite13 · 02/09/2025 12:35

@SerafinasGooseita crisps for me too Sad

And basically all carbs.

We struggled for money growing up and there wasn’t much food available. I don’t particularly remember feeling hungry as a child / teen, but I think I did go a bit nuts when I moved out at 19. Suddenly I could buy and eat what I wanted and I guess I started bingeing.

I wasn’t overweight though, until late 30s after having kids, when I have just really struggled to lose it. I don’t have that much to lose but because I am short the extra weight is very apparent.

So I guess it is about changing eating habits, but I really don’t want to calorie count and have a restricted diet forever. I’m hoping that reducing portion size and cutting out treats such as crisps will make a difference. Also I guess education, I have always cooked a lot of home cooked food but didn’t realise just how bad cooking with oil was, for example. Or how calorific salad dressings can be.

I'm just about to start and feeling a bit daunted about the possibility of side effects... Also that I am sure I have some terrible habits that I will need to break and not sure how hard/easy that will be.

I'm starting at around 14st 9, it's just crept up over the past 5 years and I really need to do something. I'm quite tall at 5.9, hoping to lose at least 3 stone, or at least to a level I can maintain it.

Having read some of the other threads I also am feeling that it's clearly my portion sizes and general over eating that are a problem... I think I've over eaten my whole life, so changing this is going to be massive, but I'm really hoping the weygovy will help make some new habits 😬.

You're roughly my size. I'm 5' 10 and had gone up to nearly 15 st.

And I feel dreadful. Lethargic, unwell most of the time, aching joints, sluggish and generally awful. Working out has never been so difficult. I don't like myself one bit this way and I don't want to do this anymore.

Raisingawolfpack · 02/09/2025 17:45

Oh my goodness I could have written that as well! I've actually started on HRT since January and it has helped a bit with joint pain, but the joint aches and just general lethargy is still there... I know I'm overweight/obese, so clearly loosing weight can only help.

I just know I use food as a crutch, so really hoping the weygovy helps me get past the mental barrier.

I think I might do my first injection tomorrow.... Anyone recommend morning or evening as best?

Seahorsesplendour · 02/09/2025 17:58

Hopping on to be nosy hope you don’t mind?

Have been on Mounjaro since May and have lost 3st, have pens for the next 2.5 months then I’ll be swapping to wegovy as the price increases are too much for us to manage!

have got another 4or5 stone to go so in it for the long haul!!!

Good luck with the start of your journey!!

blondebombsite13 · 04/09/2025 09:36

Hi all,

So I have now been on Wegovy for a week. I did my second jab yesterday.

I feel quite weak and lightheaded. I am eating less but I don’t think I’m eating so little as to cause weakness / lightheadedness, so it’s possibly a side effect of the jab, not sure.

weight this morning 12 stone 2, so a potential loss of 4lb in a week. I’m taking that with a pinch of salt though, as although my weight never goes down by 4lb in a day, the scales have unfortunately been known to shoot UPWARDS 4lb in a day Confused so it could just be natural fluctuations.

In saying that, even when really trying to lose weight in the past, the scales have never fluctuated downwards by that much in a week.

Possibly lost half an inch from my waist, but again, dubious, as my measuring isn’t that precise.

I don’t expect it to be instant, and it has just been a week. But if this loss is genuine, and it continues at this rate, I wonder if I would be able to stay on this low dose rather than increasing. Increasing the dose does make me nervous.

chart attached, although you’ll see that while my starting weight was 12 stone 7, I did shoot up to 12 stone 10 the next day Hmm

(FYI I am weigbhibg myself on my normal scales and juniper scales, and they are the same.)

I'll be starting when my wegovy prescription arrives. Interested to see how you've got on, that seems like a good loss for the first week.
Are the side effects worth it so far? I think this is what i'm most nervous about. That I'll eat the wrong thing and it'll make me ill. Also a bit worried about not eating enough and then missing out on nutrients too 😬

blondebombsite13 · 04/09/2025 21:01

@VintagePeartaking a step back and realising I’ve lost 4lbs in a week…it seems very good. Possibly too fast? I’ve never lost any weight like that before.

unless of course this is an aberration and not a true loss and the scales suddenly jump up again tomorrow…

I worry about my stomach a bit. I have a bit of a pooch / overhang (3 kids) but it’s quite rounded. I worry about losing the weight too fast and it then just hanging there.

So far I would say it’s definitely worth it. Side effects are fairly minimal (so far).

I did my second jab yesterday. I was wfh so seemed like a good time to do it. It did seem to wipe me out, I was exhausted. Although maybe I was just tired and it wasn’t the jab, I don’t know.

I do feel quite lightheaded. I am eating less than I normally would but I don’t think I’m eating so little as to cause the lightheadedness.

Working from home again today and I had Greek yoghurt with oats, strawberries and small dash of honey and a takeaway coffee while walking the dog.

had nothing in for lunch so went to local cafe and had a filled roll. I would normally have soup with it but didn’t fancy soup today. Sneaky packet of crisps. Satsuma, 2 cups of tea, salad for dinner, one chocolate digestive an hour ago.

im not a great calorie counter but I know that’s far less than I would normally have and I don’t feel hungry.

Raisingawolfpack · 05/09/2025 06:13

I did my first jab on Wednesday evening, so only really one day in. And I've had a foul headache and nausea and a twitching eyelid last night... Woken up still with a headache, thought not so bad. I ate more controlled than usual yesterday, less snacks. Yoghurt for breakfast with fruit and seeds and a bit of granola. Packet of popcorn and a salad for lunch and some nuts and fruit to snack on, a decent meal of pork, veg and some roasted potatoes (smaller portions than I would usually have), and did buckle and have a chunk of chocolate. I'm just not sure if the headache is a bit stress related, I've been anxious about my son starting secondary this week. Keeping my fingers crossed today the headache wears off!

VintagePear · 05/09/2025 10:15

Thanks both of you, thats really helpful in knowing what to possibly expect 😊
@blondebombsite13 I also have a tummy overhang from csection - it doesn't look great already for me 😆 so I figure at least if I lose some weight it'll look better in clothes!
I'm hoping to only be on it for 3 or 4 months maybe as a kick-start but maybe thats naive. Not sure i can afford the ££ long term though.

I hope you both feel a bit better today and the loss continues. I'll come and check in again once I've started mine 😊

VintagePear · 05/09/2025 22:52

Also @blondebombsite13 @Raisingawolfpack @SerafinasGoose @Seahorsesplendour you might already be using them, but I ordered from chequp and had dispatch email the next morning, which I was impressed with.

If any of you want it I have a refer a friend that will get you £50 off your first order with them. It meant mine only cost £38.99.
Let me know if you do and I'll message 😊

blondebombsite13 · 05/09/2025 23:47

Thanks @VintagePear

i haven’t heard of them, the place I ordered from had a deal on the first order, so it was cheap, but not sure what it will be going forwards. So your discount code might be handy, thanks.

I ate a bit more today than I have been so don’t think the scales will have gone down tomorrow. Going to try not to get hung up on it though, I know there will be fluctuations.

husband took dog with him today as I had a long day at work so I didn’t get out for a dog walk this morning.

I had 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Lunch at a friends which was macaroni cheese, ate about 3/4 of it. Family birthday dinner this evening at my favourite Italian restaurant- I had spaghetti bolognese, but no garlic bread etc.

Two packets of Wotsits Blush

So really not a good day!

No biscuits or chocolate or anything though, and it was an early dinner so haven’t eaten anything since 7pm.

Anyway, a bad eating day used to really get me down and I would totally fall off the wagon. But I’m going to try and just start again tomorrow and make better choices.

Need to start going to sleep earlier because this is the time I start to get really peckish!

going to sleep now!! Blush

@blondebombsite13 when is your next jab due? Maybe it's the effects of the previous one starting to wear off a little bit?
I'm sure you've done well enough the rest of the week though, which probably gives you a little room for having a not so good day.
Yeah, same - each month im going to be searching for a discount I think! Do let me know if you decide you want it 😊 and likewise if you come across any good discounts, please share!

blondebombsite13 · 06/09/2025 13:31

@VintagePearNo., I just did my jab on Wednesday, so definitely not that.

I think lunch was just unfortunate that that was what my friend had made and it happened to be quite stodgy. I wasn’t starving and if I’d had the choice I would have gone for something lighter.

The bolognaise, stodgy again and that was my choice, but can’t be helped.

The Wotsits were just a bad decision! Not sure if I was hungry or just rebelliously craving them.

Either way, scales had only moved up a tiny bit, less than a pound.

Long dog walk this morning and going to try and do some batch cooking today.

Hope you are having a good day and yes, I also have a discount code from my current provider that I can send you. Just need to figure out how to send private messages x

It's all a learning curve as well though isn't it.
I'm off to do a long walk today too, hopefully burn some calories!
I'll pm you (you can go to the 3 dots alongside the posters name and click and send pm will be an option 👍)

I lost 5lbs last week, making a total of 7lbs with the 2 I lost the week before starting the WLI.

It's a start.

Weirdly, I seem to be the other way round from a lot of the experiences I'm reading. Some people seem to become hungry as they are coming up to their next shot. I started the other way round, not noticing any great difference to start with but certainly suppression around 2-3 days before the shot was due.

I'll see if that continues! Took my second dose yesterday.

VintagePear · 06/09/2025 16:12

@SerafinasGoose well done. That's half a stone! Vey good for 2 weeks!

VintagePear · 08/09/2025 15:43

How are you all getting on?

Has anyone had an appointment requested with them after getting the prescription privately?
Ive had a request to book an appointment come through and can only assume it's that. I feel like they will probably just try and talk me out of it!

Surprising how quickly there's an appointment for that but not when I've needed one for something else!

Hi all starting Wegovy this evening my prescription just arrived. Nervous but also excited x
