Anybody just starting Wegovy?

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

Has anyone had mild but fairly constant nausea that has eventually ceased, even after 4 weeks on Wegovy?

SerafinasGoose · 12/10/2025 14:07

I've posted on the September thread about my own stupidity.

I haven't been taking Wygovy. I haven't been taking any doses of anything at all. I've fucked up my injections, meaning that other than priming the dose, I have been injecting sweet FA! No wonder I haven't been experiencing any side effects. (And what a waste of cash!).

However. I've had a strong lesson in those two old cliches 'mind over matter' and 'there's no such word as "can't"'. I've been a weapons-grade eejit, but in retrospect I'm very glad I was. What I'm now going to do is accept my next order of 2.5 and stash it in the fridge in case things do start to go tits up some way down the line. Then I shall pause my prescription and see how far (and how long) I get on without it - still with the security of knowing there is a back-up option.

Meantime I started on 15 stone on the 22 August (without WLI) and 'thought' I'd taken my first dose on 25 August. By 12 October I weigh 14 st and have a BMI of 28.9. And I actually thought I had 'suppression' because my newly protein-rich diet has kept me sufficiently full on an average of 1300 calories a day. I have a clean diet, no cravings driven by sugar, no withdrawal symptoms, no real issues with hunger, (all of which I thought were the result of the WLI), and am armed with fresh information about Basal Metabolic Rates, Total Daily Energy Expenditure, and exactly how many calories I need to maintain the deficit that I want.

We live and we learn.

VintagePear · 12/10/2025 14:07

Ive decided to take a few weeks off and start again in November.
I couldn't cope with the feeling nauseas and not having enough energy to do a single thing. It could have been the virus I had, or the jab or a combo of both. But I thought id give my body a break to recover and then try again.

Bit gutted as I was losing well and since being off for a week its definitely more challenging to choose the healthy options and stick to 1200 cals consistently, although I am trying (and failing 😆 - hitting more like 1500, which i know wont lose me anything!) At least I have energy to work and go for a walk again now though.

@SerafinasGoose are you sure?

Where is the liquid going then?

was the pen whirring down? Could you hear it?

worried I’m also doing it wrong! But I don’t think so as i can hear it whirring down.

2nd wegovy dose today, last week was a write off, actually gained weight. Little little suppression and full on pmt sugar cravings 😩
However, I still prefer the wegovy pen design, no side effects and I know its up to me to make better choices this week!

Non scale victory of a online shop where everything was a size 14, rather than 18! Hurrah, and a coat i brought a couple of years ago now fits, so dont need to buy one this winter.
Very interesting to read other peoples experiences of wegovy.

@VintagePeari understand where you are coming from re the nausea and tiredness.

For me though, I felt horrible most of the time anyway so it’s worth the trade off.

I do quite often feel hungry on Wegovy, but while my stomach is rumbling, my brain just doesn’t want any food.

This is in contrast to before when my stomach would be rumbling most of the day, my brain was obsessing about food, and I was constantly giving into cravings.

Days out with the kids were often interrupted because I would have to find somewhere to get to something to eat when they weren’t in the mood (young kids, boundless energy, barely eat), and I was spending too much money on this. I just felt like food passed through my stomach so quickly leaving me so hungry and probably low blood pressure. Just always felt like i desperately needed to eat.

The tiredness. I do feel tired, but possibly I am not eating quite enough (I am trying to find out if I am, as I don’t calorie count etc). But before Wegovy I was tired all the time as well and just felt so sluggish all the time.

So I’ll keep on for now but can understand why you’re taking a break.

I have another 0.5 jab left in the fridge and I have requested to stay on this dose for now. If I can keep going at the rate I am I hopefully won’t need to increase.

trying to do some exercises to shift my mum tum though. Was looking at it in the mirror yesterday and the only thing that made it look better was physically pulling it upwards and taut (I guess similar to a tummy tuck) but I don’t know if any amount of exercise is going to be able to fix it.

Yes, I'm sure. I contacted my pharmacy when I thought I hadn't taken a dose correctly and they asked for pictures of the pen. On examining these they said it was clear from the two images that no doses had gone out of it at all - there should have been two down at that point. And I've been doing it the same throughout. I've heard no sound of whirring since Day 1 and was wondering even then if I'd done it properly!

They sent me the instructions and I realised I'd been missing that one important step - of turning the dial to 2.5 after switching to the three dots to prime the thing! (I can't believe I didn't do that that, I feel such an idiot). 😳

The liquid's gone nowhere - it stayed in the pen!

FunnyCrabDance · 12/10/2025 18:35

@SerafinasGoose ah dear, but dont worry, you definitely wont be the first or the last to do that. I read about a women who got a friend to do her injections for her and she had her eyes closed, and of course the friend didnt turn the dial more than a couple of clicks and was just injecting a priming dose each time!
But you lost weight through placebo effect and your efforts alone, how cool is that!

FML2 · 13/10/2025 11:20

I’m struggling - I was on MJ at 15mg and lost two stone, I switched to wegovy onto the highest dose due to the MJ price and have actually gained 6 pounds in 3 weeks. I haven’t changed my calorie intake and exercise has stayed the same. I’m considering stopping wegovy. Has anyone had the same experience?

meatyryvita · 15/10/2025 09:59

@FML2 SAME! I'm a month into Wegovy after 8 months on MJ and am just half a pound lighter than when I started Wegovy due to putting weight on! Whilst the food noise was back a bit, there's no way I've eaten enough to actually gain weight!

blondebombsite13 · 21/10/2025 09:57

Morning all,

progress has stalled a little but for me, but I’m still eating less / making better choices, so I’m hoping to see some movement on the scales soon.

Still nobody has noticed, and I still don’t think I’m down a clothes size, but I think I was bursting out of my clothes previously, whereas they do feel a bit looser now.

Still struggling a bit with constipation.

I don’t feel constipated. But I’m very aware that I’m pooing a lot less and a lot less frequently, and that can’t be good.

I guess partly the volume of what I’m eating has decreased a lot, so less in = less out, but I’m not happy with the frequency.

I do have some senna but it’s not for long term use, so need to try something else. Maybe fybogel?

Hope everyone is having a good week.

@blondebombsite13 I’d suggest psyllium husk capsules (needs to be whole husks) natural fibre supplement works really well & can easily adjust the dose according to need

these are the ones I use but loads out there!!

drink lots of water with them to wash them down well!

For me progress has stalled from Week 7 onwards. I've been on 14 st for 2 and a half weeks.

I'm on September starters because I started what I THOUGHT was my meds the last week in August, and everyone was already well away on that thread. This is Week 9 for me.

blondebombsite13 · 22/10/2025 20:10

@SerafinasGoosebut have you not only just started taking Wegovy?

so youre on week 9 of your diet but is this not only your second week of actually taking the medication?

you’ve done so well to lose that weight on your own.

same! I finished month 1 just .5lb lighter than when I started due to two successive weeks of increases. I've been fastidious about calories, protein, water, and exercise (as normal). My provider has upped me to 1.7mg as I told them I was unhappy. Took my first dose yesterday and so I shall see. If there's no movement after this month, I'm going back to Mounjaro.

How is it going? I’ve lost 1kg in the whole 6 weeks now. Really am thinking of changing to mj, ironically I didn’t want fast weight loss but this is ridiculous 🤦‍♀️

I think you are with juniper? If you tell june your days intake & ask her to analyse your diet for kcal & protein she will tell you if you are on track or suggestions if not.

i like how you are looking at this, i wonder if I’m being inpatient 🙈

They upped me to 1.7MG and I lost about 1lb after naff all or increasing. I had a 1mg pen still in the fridge and thought to top up my 1.7MG injection when I felt little to no suppression. I had about a further .3mg and have had really good suppression this week and have eaten well. I still crave certain things (coffee cake!) but find myself able to resist.

Weigh in day is tomorrow, so I’ll see.

I'm sorry you’re having the same issues - it’s just not as effective, is it?

PuzzlingRecluse · 22/10/2025 20:36

Everything crossed for your weigh in tomorrow,

no I’m really upset about how ineffective it is especially with the effort I’m making 😞

blondebombsite13 · 24/10/2025 13:35

Going back in the right direction now.

Still nobody has noticed Sad

I had this kind of weight in my head as a target, thought I’d look really different / much better…but I don’t.

It’s definitely going in the right direction though. But I think it shows just how skewed my perception was.

I knew I was big. But I thought I was just a few stone overweight. I thought the weight suggested by NHS BMI calculator would be much too light for me and that I’d be great if I could get to 11 stone or 10.5.

In reality, I think the BMI calculator was correct and I have much further to go than I thought.

Very glad to still be making progress though and really don’t think I could have done it without the Wegovy.

@blondebombsite13 Are you up for saying what your BMI was when you started on Wegovy and what it is now. I'm just 5 weeks in ( just done first week on 0.5)

My BMI was 31.6 when I started and I weighed 167.2lb

Now I'm a BMI of 30.6 and weigh 162lb so I've lost slightly over 5lb in as many weeks.

I've eaten and been more hungry today though. I think it is because I have my next jab tomorrow and the effect might be wearing off!

How did you find the jump to 0.5? Take my first tomorrow. X

blondebombsite13 · 24/10/2025 18:54

Hi @EducatingArti

I was 12 stone 12ish at 5ft 2, bmi 32.7

my weight shoukd appsrantly be between 7 stone 4 and 9 stone 10.

I thought this sounded very small so I was aiming for 11 or 10 and a half….but I’m now down at 11.3 and still very overweight so think I have a very skewed perception of myself / my weight.

bmi now 28.7 so into the overweight category as opposed to obese. I can’t deny the jabs are working and I am very grateful for them.

it’s just difficult. I wish I’d never got this big.

OP posts:
EducatingArti · 24/10/2025 19:25

@blondebombsite13 I think you have done very well. That's a big drop in BMI.
I'm only 5' 1" and would like to get to the lower half of my "healthy weight" category.
@jumpingbump Easier than I thought I would. I've been having quite a bit of nausea so was concerned about moving up a dose but the nausea hasn't been any worse than on 0.25.. Hunger suppression has been better though until today but I think that might be because it is wearing off a bit. Next jab is tomorrow.
If I'm still losing weight at the 4 week mark, I will stay on this dose and see if I can get on top of the nausea.

SerafinasGoose · 25/10/2025 11:05

I’ve paused my Wegovy prescription. Seems if I can lose a stone without it I’ve proved to myself that I can lose weight and the really important tool for doing this is Nutra Check. That app makes things a lot easier and enables a focus on the bigger picture.

However - I’ve reached the stage of stalling and plateaus as usually happens after about 6 weeks. I know it gets harder from this point. If I really do struggle I have a pen waiting in the fridge.

One thing I do know: I am not going back to where I was nine weeks ago.
