Anybody just starting Wegovy?

blondebombsite13 · 27/08/2025 19:45

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

How are you all getting on?

Has anyone had an appointment requested with them after getting the prescription privately?
Ive had a request to book an appointment come through and can only assume it's that. I feel like they will probably just try and talk me out of it!

Surprising how quickly there's an appointment for that but not when I've needed one for something else!

Edited

GP appointment? No, nothing like that. My surgery are awful though and never have appointments. I don’t expect to hear from them.

Despite best intentions over the weekend, friends from abroad dropped in to surprise us on Sunday. As we didn’t have much food in we ended up getting a takeaway and some wine.

Had a lovely time but it set me back a bit.

Back on it yesterday and today the scales have down down a tiny bit, but as you can see from the chart, it’s fairly static.

Eating going quite well today and just back from a brisk dog walk.

3rd jab due tomorrow.

Hi all, just an update.

Weight is fairly static and in fact has crept up a bit this morning.

I did 3rd jab on Tuesday evening, don’t feel any different. Don’t really feel there’s much appetite suppression, on the flip side I also don’t seem to have any side effects.

Despite promising weight loss at the start, I’m not sure if the jab had anything to do with this. I feel I’m currently at my “natural” weight, so the few pounds above it which I have lost were fairly easy to come off.

the weight I am at now is the weight I get stuck at.

I suspect nothing is going to happen until I go up a dose, although of course I am going to keep trying.

i only have pretty much a stone to lose so we’ll see how it goes. Ideally I don’t want to go up to max dose but I don’t think the starting dose is really doing anything, although very happy to be proved wrong over the next week or so.

I did my jab Tuesday evening, Wednesday felt a bit nauseous and then today I noticed that I had 2 slices of toast about 10.30 and it filled me up for 5 hours, I’ve been amazed by that. I still have the odd nausea but not to bad

Hi, just an update from me. I've done two jabs and nearly at jab 3. So far I'm feeling pretty pleased with progress, I lost around 4 lbs first week, thought this week things have slowed a bit, probably only 2 so far, as I had a busy weekend and even drank some beer.

I've not changed my eating massively, smaller portions mainly and less snacks and no alcohol (apart from the beer at the weekend). I'm really aware it will be easier to loose to start and I will have to get my calorie counting underway properly as time goes on and if I want any chance of keeping it off long term.

Side effects have worn off, which is good. I'm noticing I just don't feel as hungry, thought I do still have to be a bit mindful on portion control. My pharmacy is recommending I move up a does next pen, and I'm debating if I definitely need to. Anyone else thinking of staying at the lower dose?

PuzzlingRecluse · 16/09/2025 07:26

Hi everyone can I join? I’ve just read this thread & taken plunge to sign up to juniper. I’m menopausal & managed to gain 17kg 🤦‍♀️ despite so many diets nothing is shifting it. I’m hoping wevovy will help with my metabolism as I’m sure that’s the issue. I calorie count & am generally around 1300-1600kcal/day, 2 glasses wine per week max. I use Huel for 2 meals/day.

no one in real life I can talk to about this. I’m worried about side effect & frankly the cost.

I took my first one yesterday lunchtime, so not sure how the week will pan out for me in terms of hunger, side effects and weight loss. But I am really hoping to try and go up very slowly as I want to make sure im also changing my diet and eating patterns, so I want to have to use some will power as well! If you know what i mean!

If 0.25 works well enough this month, I'll try and stay on it for another month before moving up. I think its probably a case of seeing how your boday is reacting and judging it on that?
If 0.25 is working well for you then why not stay on it until you feel its not as effective maybe? It'll also save you some ££ if you don't need to move up so fast!

Hiya! It's nice to have somewhere to talk about it freely isn't it?!
Ive been constantly trying to loose weight for the last 10 years, I'll lose half a stone or stone and then it creeps back on because of bad habits. Hoping wegovy will me a long enough stretch that I can break those habits and retrain my brain and stomach.

My bmi is 30, but ideally I'd loose 3 stone to get to my pre child weight - which just sounds so much im not sure if it'll happen in the amount of time I can afford wegovy for! At the same time I'd rather loose slowly to avoid side effects etc and have a better chance at maintaining the weight.

Anyway, its nice to have a bunch of us going through similar things so we can chat about it!

SerafinasGoose · 16/09/2025 14:47

I've bottled it and ordered 0.25 mg Wygovy for my second prescription. I've scared myself a bit, reading horror stories about side effects and now I'm very cautious about racheting up the scale too quickly.

I've also entered all my vital statistics into Chat GPT and asked it to calculate my TDEE (which I couldn't have done without a bot as my maths are atrocious). According to this, below 1200 cal at my age and height is neither safe nor sustainable, and I'm already eating within the limits it recommends. In summary:

Practical takeaway for you:
To lose weight steadily, aim for ~1,400–1,700 kcal/day, depending on how aggressive you want your deficit.

  • If you prefer slow, steady, sustainable loss → ~1,600–1,700 kcal.
  • If you want faster loss and can manage hunger well → ~1,400–1,500 kcal.

I'm on 13-1400 a day. I haven't lied to the calorie counting app - because what would be the point? - and can't find any smoking gun as to why loss has already stalled after only 3 weeks. But I've lost 5lbs in total - 7 if you count the first week of careful eating before my first dose - and not regained. I guess I'll keep going the way I am and see what happens.

The 'food noise' isn't entirely quiet and hunger suppression not as effective as it might be, so it's possible this might be a decision I come to regret. Meantime, I'm keeping the protein up and doing everything I can to minimise losing muscle mass. I figure the more habits I manage to change and sustain on a minimal dose for as long as I can manage it, the better the chance of a steady, sustainable weight loss. There are noticeable changes in my body composition but when the scales don't move it really gets me down.

VintagePear · 16/09/2025 17:50

Eating under 1200 calories consistently is the only way I can lose weight normally, so I guess I'd be unhealthy either way unless I just stay fat and thats also unhealthy. It feels a bit like pick your demon!

I agree that sometimes it could feel you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I should add the disclaimer that I'm a little over 5' 10" tall. Apparently that can make a difference. However, given I didn't see a loss last week, I might well find that I can't lose at over 1200 cal daily either, even though I'm being very disciplined about exercising on the regular. (For the past 3 days I've come in at well under 1200, so perhaps the suppression is still working).

Guess it will be a case for all of us of tweaking as we go along and seeing what difference (if any) this makes. It's very dispiriting to each and work out with so much care and not see the benefits. At least I haven't gained, though, which is something!

Yeah I can imagine. Perhaps your body will catch up and you'll see a good loss this week?
I'm almost dreading weighing myself after a week to see i've lost nothing!
I'm also finding it hard to keep to 1200 and under and also get a decent amount of protein and fibre in 🙈 I don't want to just eat nothing as I want to be eating healthily for my body still. Didn't realise the balancing act would be so difficult!

Seahorsesplendour · 17/09/2025 07:25

Hi all be I joined as switching to wegovy soon and wanted to see how people get on!

I’ve been on Mounjaro since May

just wanted to reassure you all you the losses don’t happen every week infact I swapped to fortnightly or monthly weights depending on how I feel as found the weeks of no loss demoralising.

some people weigh daily but ignore the natural ups & downs and like to see the overall trend which will be downwards if you’re eating less etc

happy to share more if people interested but didn’t want to make my ‘journey’ the point of the post!!

Elliebearblues · 17/09/2025 07:42

Hi all, going good here, 2nd dose was Monday and the first week I lost 4lbs, I’m drinking loads of water and back to the gym too so that should help. I’ve had the odd nausea on and off and a bit of lightheaded ness but that’s all. Really happy so far. The food suppression is good as after my meals I feel full for hours x

PuzzlingRecluse · 17/09/2025 21:37

I took my first dose tonight 😬 I was really scared, not sure why. REALLY hope it helps me, I can’t tell anyone in real life I’m doing it, so no support. I’m struggling a bit as my supposed best friend has got super into running, talks about it obsessively, really thin complains about her middle, it really hurts me. I’m a single mum, working full time. I can’t go off & go for runs even if I wanted to. I know she would judge me for this. Anyway moan over, everything crossed this is the missing piece of the puzzle for me.

really like reading everyone’s posts, it’s good to know I’m not alone,

I was really nervous as I did my first one on Monday too. Found i was shaking 😆 not sure why, but I was glad to get it over with!
Ive been fairly OK so far, had a bit of nausea this evening but I think I left it too long between eating, so will remember not to do that again. Nothing too bad though.
I have really switched up what im eating, focusing on my protein and fibre and trying to keep to 1200 calories. Do tend to be at more like 1300 by the time ive got enough protein in though.
Have really tried to avoid upfs, white cards and chocolate etc! But I think, for me, this is what I really need to help me change my go-to everyday foods so that when I have lost the weight I have cemented new food habits.

Im not sure how strong the suppression is as i do still get hungry, but ive definitely felt satisfied after eating and not craving something sugary or snacks enough to resist them.

How's everyone else doing today?

VintagePear · 17/09/2025 22:57

PuzzlingRecluse · 18/09/2025 06:48

Well done it sounds like you are making some great changes.

I really want to lose 17kg, but want to keep it off, that gets me back to my premenopausal weight. I’d prefer it to come off slowly so I’ve more chance of not finding it again!! But frankly at this point I’d be happy to lose 1kg 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

home vent away. My husband and one of my friends know I’m on the jab but I’m not telling the rest of the family as I don’t want them to judge me. I have 5 kids altogether and their all in school/work so I’m lucky I can get to the gym when their at school but I used to do home YouTube Strengh full body workouts when they were at home as like you I couldn’t get out to train. I’ve literally tried so many diets and they don’t work so trying this now took my 2nd dose Monday. Good luck and I’m here if u wanna chat xx

I'm pretty much the same. 3 stone would be ideal but i'd be happy with 2.5 stone.
It seems so far away though 😫
If anyone has found any healthy lunch/meal ideas whilst on wegovy please share with me!

I just tend to have a chicken salad wrap or even leftovers from my evening meal as I find I’m not eating all of my evening meal anymore as it’s too much for me x

Hi all,

quick update from me.

Looks like I am around 11 pounds down.

Nobody has noticed yet.

I guess it seems like a lot to me but as I still have a way to go people haven’t noticed yet.

I’ve barely eaten all week, but this is down to an issue in my personal life that is causing me huge amounts of worry. I just can’t face eating, and I don’t think it’s the jab.

Next dose has just arrived 0.5mls.

Due to inject on Tuesday.

I’m feeling very tired and lightheaded. But it’s hard to know if it’s the meds or the personal pressure I am under at the moment.

chart below, started my period yesrerday which has possibly accounted for the slight increase.

Anybody just starting Wegovy?
