Anybody just starting Wegovy?

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

Hi again,

this is my chart this morning.

due to take to first 0.5mg injection tonight.

Does anybody know if there is a way to zoom out on the chart? I find it shows such a short period of time . I think it would be useful to be able to change the parameters and would be easier to see the overall trend.

I worry that im not eating enough. But im not sure if this is appetite suppression or the stressful things currently going on in my personal life.

I would like to exercise but I feel very tired and weak (again, not sure if this is the medication or just personal issues).

I do a lot of walking (although not a lot by many people on MNs standards! But at least 10k a day, up and down lots of hills).

I am going to start lifting some small hand weights.

Nobody has noticed the weightloss yet…

Anybody just starting Wegovy?

That's an amazing loss @blondebombsite13, well done!

I had a blip this week having thought I'd felt some palpitations. Admittedly I'm on the lookout for things like this, having had slightly elevated blood pressure in the past. Saw my GP today who was great: they gave me a bit of a health MOT when I had a stress incident last winter and I have an ECG on record - the results were good. So she's repeating this process to compare results and make sure nothing has changed.

Meantime I'm fine to continue taking the Wygovy. I'd have been very upset if told to stop, but ofc would have taken medical advice.I've been overdoing the workouts, I think, so will scale back until I've had chance to build up properly. I've had awful lung capacity and breathing issues, caused by rods in my spine which restricted my ability to move my midsection. Those came out in March and the difference is noticeable. It's not too easy to work out properly when you can't take a full breath! - but building back up from three years of that situation has been slower than I expected.

It's tempting to do too much too soon but I'm trying to be sensible. Dose #5 on Friday (I'm sticking with 0.25 for now), and to date I've lost 9 lbs.

Weightlosstimeforgood · 25/09/2025 07:52

Op how are you feeling after moving up to 0.5?
I’ve been at 0.25 for 8 weeks with little side effects, a bit worried moving up will be worse
due to start 0.5 tomorrow as my suppression was nothing by week 6 onwards

Wrongsideof50 · 25/09/2025 09:17

Hi, so I’m new to Wegovy…I started on Sunday 14th September on lowest dose 0.25…no side effects at all yet 🤞🏻 but straight away from the get go I noticed reduced food cravings and appetite, also for alcohol, and if I do fancy it I have a glass and can take it or leave it, usually on a weekend I have the whole bottle! And then get the munchies for crisps….It just doesn’t seem to be enjoyable like it was before…perhaps this is what “normal weight” people feel like all the time?
anyway, so far I’ve lost 6lb after 10 days…which I’m really pleased with, I’m now 12 at 13lb and want to loose 2-3 stone. I’ve ordered the next dose up and will start that after my four doses at 0.25.

feeling so positive about it and I’m excited to see how it progresses..

Im feeling a bit deflated today! Mid way through week 2. I lost 4lb the first week, just weighed myself and nothing so far this week 😢 ive been super strict and not been over 1200 calories, ive been logging everything, eating healthy food, lots of protein and tons of water. Not sure what else im supposed to do.
If I eat less calories a day than 1200 I feel like thats not healthy to sustain or good for my body and organs?

Any one got any advice or in the same boat?!
Feels a bit hopeless today, and I was so positive last week ☹️

VintagePear · 25/09/2025 10:43

The suppression is there, not enough to not want to eat anything all day, but enough to really help and its completely got rid of sugar cravings, so I know the wegovy is doing something but it seems my calorie deficit just isn't working!

@WeightlosstimeforgoodI’m feeling totally fine. No side effects, don’t feel any different to how I did on the 0.25ml.

If I manage to lose more weight I would like to stick at 0.5 as opposed to going up again.

I really need to exercise more though. I need to tone and build muscle. And it’s frustrating that really the only side effect I do have is that I’m exhausted. Therefore really don’t feel like exercising.

But I will just need to do it.

The suppression is there, I think. Sometimes I do want something (cake or whatever) but I can manage to suppress it, whereas before I couldn’t. Same applies to wine, I think.

I do feel a bit deflated that nobody has noticed the weight loss yet, which makes me think I must have just been so massive before Sad I still am, I do still have a lot to lose (not much in terms of stone but it’s a lot on my small frame).

I think my face looks better. I think my eyes stand out a bit more and I just generally look a bit “better”, so I’m guessing I was very bloated / puffy before.

@VintagePeari hear you. I’m not calorie counting. I don’t want to calorie count. It’s just not in my nature and not sustainable for me. I’ve cut out junk, I’ve cut my portions down massively, I’ve got right down on bread etc. I’m happy to do that, I want to be healthy, but I just cannot calorie count.

I know myself when I have had a “good day” or a “bad day”, I have a rough feeling whether I am in a deficit or not.

I’ll just need to keep going and see how it goes.

I also feel a bit deflated because on paper I’ve lost 11 lbs, however, my weight seemed to have absolutely ballooned just before I started taking it, so I feel I was starting for an artificial high. I feel my normal weight was 12 stone or just over, so I feel like I’ve actually only lost a 3 or 4 lbs.

Trying to keep the faith….

I do weigh everyday but sometimes just ignore it if there’s been no loss Grin

Hoping for a loss tomorrow

Anyone finding they prefer wegovy to mounjaro? I'm getting less nausea on it and still managing to not crave stuff also think I have more energy.

But I have a mini stockpile of mounjaro to get through!

I'm thinking of taking small doses from it to avoid side effects then go with wegovy from then

Elliebearblues · 25/09/2025 14:24

I had my 3rd jab Tuesday no suppression this week strongly though, it was great the first two weeks but now nothing 😭

Weightlosstimeforgood · 26/09/2025 07:36

I found my first 3 weeks on 0.25 were strong suppression then it was getting less and less on week 4 and 5 and almost nothing on week 6
ive stayed the same weight for past 4 weeks
up to 0.5 today so hoping to see some more results

@VintagePear ive had weeks of nothing then near the end of the week 2lbs come off so just keep going as you are- ive also been up on my weigh in day and then lost by the end of the week too

Elliebearblues · 26/09/2025 08:09

Week 1 I lost 4lb then week 2 only a measly 1lb bit gutted about that especially as I’ve been eating a lot less x

VintagePear · 26/09/2025 14:02

I hope we all have a more successful week next week!

The suppression is there, not enough to not want to eat anything all day, but enough to really help and its completely got rid of sugar cravings, so I know the wegovy is doing something but it seems my calorie deficit just isn't working!

The lack of sugar cravings is the real bonus as far as I'm concerned. I used to suffer horrendously with these, not to mention horrible withdrawal symptoms when I first cut it out.

I've been eating a clean diet since starting, with very low sugar (naturally occurring in fruit and veg mainly) and very few white carbs, just pulses and limited quantities of oats, oatbran or brown rice. I'm finding that I don't want sugar, I don't crave chocolate even before my period and I'm not even using coconut sugar, just the odd very small amount of stevia in one or two recipes.

It's fair to say that this is most unusual! It's one of the most welcome effects Of Wygovy I've noticed, as this is the one dietry habit I most need to break.

As for calorie deficit, I'm finding this is fairly vicious notwithstanding we need fewer calories as we near menopausal age. ChatGPT worked out my basal metabolic rate and total daily energy expenditure for me, concluding that a slow (1 lb per week) loss was possible on 16-1700 calories a day, whereas if I wanted to see a faster loss I needed to consume 13-1400. I'm averaging at under 13, and I lost 1 lb this week and last and nothing the week before that. I'm exercising well, too.

I wanted a slower and more sustainable loss anyway but it does seem I need to eat fewer calories for this to happen. 1200 is apparently the safest lower limit for women, and I'm near to that. Dipping beneath this on a sustained basis isn't advisable, and is something I couldn't continue in the longer term.

I'm at the end of my first week on Wegovy and have lost the grand total of 1 lb!
However I have been struggling with constipation so I think this might be part of it
Anny suggestions for dealing with the constipation. I've been taking extra magnesium and inulin which has helped a bit.

Not sure if its constipation but things have definitely slowed down for me this week. Ive tried to up my fibre - dried apricots, satsumas, apple, lots of mange tout, beansprouts and ive added in a teaspoon of psyllium husk to yoghurt but its not had a drastic effect to be honest! I drink 2 -3 litres of water a day too so not sure what else i can do.

I'm thinking as im eating very clean now, minimal carbs, no sugar really and only 1200 calories - maybe there is just less waste and that combined with everything being slowed down?!

You could try psyllium husk though and see if that helps you?

EducatingArti · 27/09/2025 15:22

Thank you for your suggestion. I think that is probably the next thing to try.

Seahorsesplendour · 28/09/2025 17:35

I’d go for the psyllium husk capsules as just easier to take with lots of water which they absorb & that’s how they work , I’ll post a link to the ones I use but are loads out there just need to make sure they’re whole husk ones!

also kiwi fruit are magical!!! 🤭

Water definitely key too and moving more helps keep things moving!

Seahorsesplendour · 28/09/2025 17:37

Psyllium husk link

I've swapped from Mounjaro to Wegovy because of the cost.

I've lost 8st 3lb on MJ. Down from 20st 2lb to 11st 13lb.

I had my first Wegovy a week ago (2.4mg because I'd been on the maximum of MJ).

I've found it exactly the same as MJ to be honest. And no side-effects.

I seem to have lost 1lb this week, which is just right. I'm at the stage where there are much smaller losses now, but the trend is always downwards.

It's taken me 21 months to lose the 8st 3lb.

Good luck everyone!

VintagePear · 28/09/2025 18:16

Really struggling to understand, scientifically, how i've had a calorie deficit of 3500 calories this week. Not gone over 1200 once, eaten super clean, high protein, high fibre, lots of water and no weight loss! Walked about 18km over the week.
I just can't understand how that can work?!
Also, it makes me want to just throw it in the face of those idiots who say 'just eat less and move more'! Even with wli its not happening!
I must be doing something wrong somewhere?!

PuzzlingRecluse · 28/09/2025 19:11

Vintagepear I’m in same boat, no weight loss yet despite reducing calories significantly 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I’m wondering if I’m just on too small a dose, the evidence base for wegovy is at 2.5, I’m on 0.25 … it’s bloody expensive & frustrating not to have lost a 1lb yet!

VintagePear · 28/09/2025 19:28

So frustrating isn't it! I feel like even without any wli, I should have at least lost a pound!
I'm cautious of moving up the dosage because of the side effects and 0.25 is definitely suppressing my appetite enougg and cutting out any sugar cravings, so I was planning to stay on it for another month - but the complete lack of weight loss is really confusing me 😫

boompadoomshoosh · 28/09/2025 19:29

Started it four days ago, I have felt completely sick since. Had the same issue with mounjaro and had to stop as was throwing up my epilepsy meds

ibve lost four pounds in four days

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/09/2025 16:19

Okay, it's been a week.

I've lost 1lb. I'm really happy with that.
At this stage, for me, losses are slowing down, but are still happening.

I've gone from 11st 13lb to 11st 12lb.

Total loss since starting MJ and Wegovy is 8st 4lb.

I've found Wegovy to be as effective as MJ.

blondebombsite13 · 29/09/2025 16:41

My weight seems to be quite static, even creeping up a bit.

Im hoping it’s just fluctuation.

I can see a bit of a change in my shape.

I’ve been focusing on my tummy, but it seems it doesn’t work that way and I just seem to have lost a little bit all over. For example my shoulders seem a little less bulky. And my face definitely looks a little bit slimmer.

I had a Chinese at the weekend and although I didn’t eat a large amount, I wonder if the salt content is causing me to retain water / weight.

Either way, I’m not going to beat myself up about the Chinese, but I am going to try hard not to do it again.

I think probably the volume of what I’ve been eating has been creeping up a bit and I need to nip that in the bud.

Don’t feel any different on the 0.5 than I did on the 0.25.

Second jab of 0.5 due tomorrow.

if I start seeing some progress again on the 0.5 i would like to stick with the 0.5 rather than going up a dose.

Will see how it goes.
