Who is going to switch to Wegovy from Mounjaro?

A thread for those of us who are considering or already actioning this change due to pricing or other reasons…..

I’m with Oushk - been on 15mg for 4 months and MJ for 13 months in total. Some (manageable) side effects at 7.5mg. I’ve lost 35lb in 13 months and nothing for the last 2 months.

I have toyed with switching to W due to the slow loss on MJ, to see if it’s any different. I’m not ‘chasing suppression’ and I am putting in the work (cal counting, diet overhaul, exercise, etc) but now with the price hike I might make the change at my next order.

Is anyone else thinking similar? What’s your thought process?

Has anyone already switched to W after a year on MJ ? I’d love to hear your experiences

I;ve just ordered a wegovy pen from Superdrug as they had run out of mounjaro which I've been on since Jan/Feb. I was on 10mg of mounjaro and have to start again at the bottom with wegovy, which is a bit concerning, but as long as I don't start piling it back on I'm hoping for the best. It's a bit cheaper too. I think I've broken some of the bad habits I was in - fingers crossed.

JohnTheRevelator · 27/08/2025 17:58

I am going to. To be honest, its not a problem as I've found Mounjaro is not as good at suppressing my appetite as Wegovy or Ozempic. When I was using Wegovy/Ozempic,I was consistently losing 1 - 2 lbs per week, whereas with Mounjaro,I've been losing only a pound every couple of weeks so far. I've been on the 10 mg dose for a week, and it's only over the last few days that I've noticed a considerable reduction in my appetite. Even when I was on the lowest dose of Wegovy/Ozempic,I found I was eating less.

Minniliscious · 27/08/2025 18:31

I switched to Wegovy today and will have my first one delivered at the weekend. My supplier wanted £189 for 5mg Mounjaro but it was only £90 for Wegovy.

Obviously will be starting again - had fab results on Mounjaro but just can’t afford the prices.

IndigoSkye · 27/08/2025 18:36

I’m thinking of swapping but do have a month of mounjaro left. It would be good to hear how you guys get on. I have had quite a few side effects from mounjaro and think this might be better on wegovy but I guess I won’t know until I swap!

Mortigua · 27/08/2025 18:57

Came here to ask about wegovy as she med have now said I have to change to it from Mounjaro to keep to the agreed price . Anyone else in the same boat? I hope it works for me .

Humptyandhambel · 27/08/2025 19:04

Hey @Mortigua me too! Though I filled in my questionnaire on Saturday so hopefully I’ll have 1 more mounjaro pen issued before I need to swap. I’m on the £99 study, priced out of MJ now xxx

Theawkwardblonde · 27/08/2025 19:07

I’m with SheMed too and had the email regarding the price increase. If I’m to stay on my Mounjaro 5mg I’ll have to now pay £279..so I’m priced out now and going to switch to wegovy. Just had my mounjaro issued this week so a month before I switch.

HappyTuesdayyyy · 27/08/2025 19:17

I'm going to change to Wegovy due to the price increase. But I'm only on my 7th week of MJ and stayed at 2.5mg so it's not that big a deal really. Lost 10lbs so far.

I am worried about side effects of Wegovy though as i haven't really had any with MJ.

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 27/08/2025 19:20

I am.with simple online pharmacy and have had an email today suggesting I look to swapping over to wegovy.

MJ is still suppressing my appetite and I have definitely broken the back of a lot of my bad habits but my weight loss has dropped off massively over the last 4 weeks. I have only lost 11kg is 12 weeks. I had a pretty nasty bug about 6 weeks ago and I have literally plateaued since. So maybe the change will help.

That’s interesting. Why did you switch from Wegovy to MJ if you don’t mind me asking?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 27/08/2025 19:41

Yes, me. I’m very close to goal and had already started titrating down. Pre-price rises I was planning to stay on the lowest effective dose of MJ for as long as possible for maintenance but I’m hoping Wegovy will take its place.

I’ve ordered a 1mg Wegovy pen to begin once I’ve finished my current 5mg MJ. Why do you have to go to the lowest dose @Rhythmisadancer? Medicine Marketplace were happy for me to go from 5mg MJ to 1mg Wegovy.

Mortigua · 27/08/2025 19:46

I did my prescription questionnaire yesterday then got the email today from she med , I will have to stay on the trial too . I wonder about how I let them know as it has no option for that on the email though . Guessing it will be effective immediately and they won’t issue my Mounjaro for this month now

I believe if your questionnaire was completed before 11am today it will be at the original price. The increase is effective after their email was sent out. So our next questionnaire will then ask if we want to switch or continue with MJ x

Lazygardener · 27/08/2025 20:34

I will probably be swapping over to Wegovy once my current pen runs out. I don’t feel like boosting the profits of Eli Lilly after their recent actions. I’ll be following this thread with interest.

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 27/08/2025 20:43

I'd only consider it if titrated down on Monj and waited for that to clear my system. I'm quite risk adverse so that's why. I also had ten hours on the loo going from 2.5mg to 5mg on Monj and some pharmacies are suggesting you can go straight from 15mg to the highest dose of W. I could imagine myself exploding in a cloud of diarrhea if I'd did that.

Ihavenoclu · 27/08/2025 21:05

I wont be able to as had awful side effects on wegovy last year and had to stop.

Sorry to hear that. Was that as soon as you started or when you went up a dose?

OP posts:
Fatbride · 27/08/2025 21:18

I'm considering it but only if my provider offers a higher starting dose. I'm with IQ doctor and they've been silent so far. I'm on 15mg and didn't really see any benefits until I got to a 7.5 mg dose, so starting from the bottom doses again seems really pointless to me as I expect they'd be ineffective and just a waste of money and time building up to the higher doses. As it stands I plan to stick to Monj but the cheapest companies won't prescribe to me because I'm on levothyroxine and I've heard a few of them refuse higher BMIs which unfortunately despite losing at a steady pace I still have!

As soon as I started. I tried to stick with it but after 4 weeks or so my gp advised me to come off. I think it is pretty rare to be fair. I struggled on Ozempic too. No issues at all on Mounjaro so far (I'm on 7.5).

Thank you , good news hopefully . I am ok to switch but have only tried ozempic when it came out and didn’t get high enough dosing for it to do much and remember feeling quite down while on it . Hopefully wegivy is better

JaceLancs · 27/08/2025 22:44

I’m with she med and just had the email - I’m willing to try wegovy but whether I stay on it will depend on side effects and weight loss
Hoping they will match doses as currently on 5mg mounjaro and only losing 1-2lb a week so would like to go up soon

Deadringer · 27/08/2025 22:48

Me. I am only halfway through my weight loss journey and I cannot afford the higher prices. I have 2 pens in the fridge, once they are gone I will he switching, I just hope wegovy works for me.

Ozempic and Wegovy are the same drug - semaglutide.

Mortigua · 28/08/2025 06:48

Oh of course ! I wonder about dosing too then - presumably it’s also daily injections with Wegovy then too . Not great news at all but I can’t afford to go up to the prices they want for Mounjaro so will have to go with it and hope for the best
