I really don’t want to do wegovy. Don’t know why but I just really really don’t!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/08/2025 19:02

I think I'm scared to let go of something that has FINALLY worked. It has been life saving/life changing.... and the fear that if I switch it might not work/ I might have different side effects/ it might not be the same second time around on MJ...

I think.

But all the pharmacies seem to be saying its a good choice (but then they weren't saying that a month ago they were saying how much better MJ is...)

Me too @TragicMuse. I think that for me it's because mounjaro has worked so well. But also the pharmacies recommending that patients swap for what is purely financial reasons doesn't sit right with me.

Kay2000 · 28/08/2025 19:10

For me, if you really can’t afford MJ, the better option is to switch to Wegovy rather than go cold turkey and possibly gain all the weight back. I did tons of research before deciding to try MJ and chose MJ because fewer side effects were said to be experienced and people lost more weight in the trials with MJ. I’ve also experienced fantastic anti inflammatory benefits from MJ and I’m reluctant to experiment right now. Saying that, if my husband lost clients or got sick (he’s self employed) and wasn’t bringing enough in, I’d try Wegovy.

Dontjumptoconclusions · 28/08/2025 19:16

@Kay2000 @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I agree with what you both said. When we have so much to lose, the journey is so different. I actually find it quite odd that people would use MJ with all the costs /side effects involved just to lose 2 stone...but it's not something I would share anywhere but here 😂

It does make me think if they feel horrible and unfit pinching a centimeter of fat, what must they think of me, but I push those thoughts from my head because it's too much 😔 but it also makes me think - is this how good it feels to be thin?!

Kay2000 · 28/08/2025 19:17

My sister went to her local Well Pharmacy and got a 5mg pen. She was his very first patient and she said you see them monthly, they do your blood pressure, heart rate, BMI and have a chat about how you’re doing, and she was really happy with him and the service. He hadn’t yet been told what the new price will be, but she’s hoping to ditch Asda and go with him, Asda have let her down and she was running out of her pen. She only has (only! But you know what I mean) about 3 stone to go, having lost 2 already. BTW she’s sticking rigidly to SW as she’s been signed up to the App for years and likes the diet, and she’s lost 35lb consistently in 14 weeks.

TragicMuse · 28/08/2025 19:19

I think that’s it for me too @Motnightand @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenand @Kay2000

meanwhile, my new consultation with esurgery still hasn’t been approved. So god knows if I’ll get it before 1 September. Probably not.

I’m not aiming, or even wanting to be “thin”. That’s not who I am nor will I be able to maintain it. I’m aiming to be healthier and under BMI 35 so the NHS can’t bar me from seeing orthopaedics for my osteoarthritis and joint replacements if I need them! Ideally BMI 30, which will be 12 stone for me, and a loss of 10 stone. More than enough I think!

The lady who did my pedicure yesterday was saying she’d heard it was so much harder psychologically for people like us to lose weight mentally, as we can lose 3, 4 or more stone, and no one notices. Which I’ve definitely experienced. If you’re 13 stone and lose 3, everyone will be motivating you, whereas the only people who say anything to me are friends who know I’m on MJ and are looking out for small differences, like my face has slimmed down a lot. At least she seemed to understand that and was very supportive.

I’m waiting on an order from esurgery that I placed last weekend as well. I got an email saying they were being slow due to demand but they’ve taken the money so either they refuse and then refund or send it out at the price I’ve paid. I can’t see how they could try to ask for extra now they’ve taken the money.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 28/08/2025 19:33

@SecretNameforMN I was waiting for everything to kick in 20 minutes after taking my first jab, every itch or sneeze made me wonder if it was the mounjaro. I also found myself obsessively thinking about food, not to eat it though, but to see if I was thinking about it, crazy! I’ve also changed suppliers a few times, only had to submit proof of previous dose, ID and photos each time. Don’t throw your box away as the prescription sticker is your ‘proof’.

i know exactly what you mean @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, the scared to let go of something that finally works. Its terrifying!

I jabbed today and finished one 15mg pen, I have two in the fridge, so 10 weeks worth. I’m going to wait until I’ve finished one pen then place an order somewhere for another 15mg, then have a long hard think about what to do. During the panic I initially said I’d swap but I’m virtually pain free, even my gnarled arthritic hands have stopped hurting, how much of this is weight loss and how much is Mounjaro? I’m hoping it’s weight loss, I don’t want to use Wegovy but if the alternative if nothing then I will. I know I'm lucky as I started earlier and have lost a significant amount of weight and ‘only’ have 2 and a bit stone left to lose to get to the top end of a healthy weight. I feel like my head is going round in circles - sorry! I’m waffling again….

SilenceInside · 28/08/2025 19:36

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I’m glad you’re sorted for a pen from another pharmacy. I must say I am a bit stunned at SheMed’s response to this recent price hike, particularly the total lack of communication to their customers until so late in the day. I appreciate that they were likely surprised by the price hikes, but still. To make out that changing to Wegovy is a reasonable choice, when the choice is basically financial and not clinical at all seems unfair to the people who signed up. And it gave you very little time to decide what to do before the 1st Sept.

Billybingbong · 28/08/2025 19:37

I'm really not keen on switching to Wegovy either. MJ has changed my life, and I really really want to stick with it. I have enough pens to see me a good while, and am planning on saving the £135 I no longer have to spend each month, so I have a nice little stash to cover the higher prices when I have to start buying it again.

Two things to report today
Firstly I bought a new coat and some new jumpers, all in a size 20 ..which seems amazing to me ,as last year I was struggling to get a size 32 coat to zip up .this size 20 coat is a full length duvet coat with a long zip and it doesn't even pull across the stomach 😃.
Then I met a friend for coffee, who was a bit odd ,and basically said I'd lost enough weight ,and why was I not happy with what I had lost and why was I not stopping loosing any now ... basically saying I should be happy to stay this weight .
People are odd
Very bizarre

Congratulations on the weightloss, I'm also a size 20 from a 28 and it's awesome!
The friend saying not to lose any more weight hit me. I get it and have had the same. How did you respond?
I do feel like a lot of people don't know how to act or respond when you're not considered the "fat friend" anymore.

Kay2000 · 28/08/2025 19:58

This could be some positive news

Mounjaro drugmaker to offer UK discount on weight-loss jabs is headline on Telegraph. I’ve tried to gift the article but it hasn’t worked.

”Eli Lilly told pharmacies they would receive a £83 discount on the cost of the maximum dose of the obesity jab when prices go up by as much as 170pc next week.
Savings will be smaller for weaker doses, although Eli Lilly declined to comment on the size of the discounts.”

but it then goes on

”The confidential offer, which was first reported by Sky News, is understood to have been made to pharmacies in recent weeks to allow them to plan their own prices.”

Billybingbong · 28/08/2025 20:01

Medicine Marketplace have got every dose in stock at the old price. You'll have to be quick though, there's only a few of each one available

Oushk have fCTORED this in apparently and it's still £££

SilenceInside · 28/08/2025 20:10

@Kay2000 I wish it was an additional discount, but any pharmacy that has announced prices for Sept 1st onwards will have factored this in already, sadly. The news reporting seems very behind what has been known about and discussed on online WLI discussion sites like here and Reddit.

That's interesting! How much did you pay? I'd love to be collecting my order rather than relying on deliveries which need to be signed for.

I paid £149 inc consultation.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/08/2025 20:30

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/08/2025 18:49

Can you go back to your equivalent dose on Mounjaro then without titrating back up? Will be interesting to see how it goes.

Yes, you can. And I shall, if I need to.

Yes, you can. And I shall, if I need to.

DH and I are actually paying for MJ for another family member as well as for mine.
It will obviously help if I change to Wegovy.
If Wegovy doesn't work I'll go back on to MJ.

No, I'm not wanting to be thin either and even if I did, I think it would be an awful struggle to maintain. I'm happy with a BMI of 29 and I think I'd call it a day. But it's just a thought with other people who are on the jab to go from a size 12 to a size 8, which makes me think that it must feel wonderful to be thin...? Because why else would they bother.

The psychology is real with our journey! I've dropped 5 stone and finally I'm getting a few "you look different". It's the constant slog for months, or years! It's not being able to recognise a slimmer version of yourself and still buying XXL clothes because you're used to it. I've even heard some people feel uncomfortable at a slimmer version of themselves because they are so used to being large. It's quite strange and fascinating at the same time.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/08/2025 21:13

Well, I'm a strange turn of events, Chemist 4U have sent me an email to tell me that my order has not only been despatched, but has also been delivered.

Which it hasn't. Oh well. I suppose it will be eventually.

Au contraire according to Royal Mail, though. They say they've got it and will deliver it tomorrow.

I bet they don't.

I can't remember who it was that was waiting on e-surgery, sorry I can't tag you, but just to let you know I nearly gave up on them because I heard nothing, then one morning at 10am I got an email asking for proof of prescription, I sent a photo of my 7.5mg box (had ordered 10mg) sent it to them immediately and within an hour it was approved and I received my delivery the next day. Don't give up just yet!

I took my 2nd dose of 7.5mg last night and today I have been napping and useless all day!! Maybe I have a virus, or maybe it is the MJ, but I need to get to work tomorrow, so I am hoping it will pass whatever it is.

I was moving a table for a delivery of a new fridge freezer tomorrow, when I came over all faint and nearly landed on the floor. It was gone 1pm and I suddenly realised I had eaten nothing all day.... Not a thing!! The idea of forgetting to eat seemed so absolutely alien to me in June!! Anyway, lesson learnt. I need to eat something even if I don't feel like it, especially before moving heavy furniture around. 🙄

I am staying on MJ. I am hoping to be able to stay on the 7.5mg, certainly for a few months and increase slowly.
A few years ago I tried saxender for a while. It worked for a few weeks and then it seemed to have no affect at all. I am worried Wegovy would be the same for me.
