Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 104kg BMI 40.6
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

16 stone 5lbs in old money, 5 stone 2.75lbs off. Still an awful long way to go. 63kg is just under 10 stone. A place I haven't visited since my early teens. That will mean losing another 6 and a half stone.

I'm now approaching the amount of weight I lost while doing Lighter Life (7 stone). Unfortunately I gained all that back very quickly then added another 3 or 4 stone.

The clothes thing is difficult. I went through some more of my clothes and picked out about half a dozen shirts I had made for myself which are now far too large. The fabric wont go to waste as I will re-use it at some point.

The thing now is that the style I was wearing no longer suits me. So it isnt going to be a case of making the same thing again but smaller. Not sure that a try on session at John Lewis is going to work yet, I'm still far too big (size 26).

We are weight twins SW and current 😍

Weigh in for me too today. Lost 1.5kg/3 lb and 4.9 oz. Hit a couple of small targets today 🙂 next target 10st loss.

Sw: 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.1 oz
CW: 81.1kg / 12 stone, 10 lb and 12.7 oz reached the 12s!!
Total loss: 61.7kg / 9 stone, 10 lb and 0.4 oz reached 9.5 stone lost!!
BMI: 50.8 now 28.9
To get to healthy: 11kg / 1 stone, 10 lb and 4 oz
To get to target: 21.1kg / 3 stone, 4 lb and 8.3 oz.

Your weightloss is incredible and I'm feeling so inspired. Would love to ask about your lifestyle now in comparison to before - are you more active/eating smaller portions/cooking from scratch etc? And how do you feel now? How long has it taken you? Are you on 15mg? Do you have a plan yet about maintaining?

I'm asking because I guess I'm nervous about being able to keep up this mindset forever. It's easier to comprehend if you lose weight on a 'diet' but for the rest of your life, I find quite overwhelming.

I did that 800 calories fast diet ,the Dr Mosely one
Lost 6 stone put the whole lot back on and another 4.
So I remind myself of this when I'm having a slow week or slow month ,as I'm more likely to keep it off the longer it takes to loose .
Never tried liter life because I'm vegan and they always said when I asked they did do anything vegan ..but I tried weight watchers and slimming world about 100 times

Dontjumptoconclusions · 11/09/2025 09:48

Morning all, 1lb lost this week which means the scales are finally deciding to shift after 3 weeks of nothing. I shall celebrate with a walk and a podcast!

I'm going to keep going with C25K just because I don't find it a struggle as I would have 5 stone ago and I feel so achieved after doing it. The winter months will be harder to keep it up. I was looking at a local run in March and thinking about signing up for the 5k, to motivate me to keep going during the winter months. My only concern is being able to complete the 5k in the time specified in the T&C, which I think is 45 mins. So far, I'm doing 5k in around 60 mins with a combination of walking/running.

I'm now a size 18 and struggling to wrap my head around how small the clothes are. Because I haven't bought anything in between because I wanted to wear my older clothes until I couldn't anymore, rather than wasting money - so I've suddenly gone from size 28 to 18. I'm also finding a love for shopping and fashion, despite proclaiming I have "never been that girl". Also getting used to seeing slimmer models wearing the clothes rather than the plus sized section.

It's definitely a lot of psychological change of getting used to a different body. I have never been slim in my life. I spend a lot of time just reflecting and feeling overwhelmed like "I'm actually doing it!!!" all those wishes and dreams are coming true.

Lds1 · 11/09/2025 10:35

@Reginaphalangeeeee I didn't buy the skirt as much as I loved it. I think I'll buy decent shapwear when I wish to maintain and try some on again. I usually wear dresses which come in at the waist and back out again as they suit my shape, they just hang a lot better now than they did. Also just wear jeans and t-shirts which again look a lot better and I can tuck stuff in!

@Dontjumptoconclusions I changed the way I eat completely, I was eating way too many takeaways, crisps and chocolate etc. Also portion sizes were big. I now eat yoghurt and fruit for breakfast most days, salad for lunch and a variety of chicken and veg for tea. I'll have a treat every now and again if we eat out. I also don't drink, but I didn't drink much before so that probably hasn't made much difference.

I haven't done dedicated exercise yet but I've naturally become more active day to day so instead of sitting around all day I'll go for a walk.

I'm currently on 12.5, I started in end of July 2024. My plan is to go back down the doses gradually, luckily I have a few pens in and could afford lower doses for maintainance at the moment. I think I've learnt a lot about what I need to eat rather than what I want to eat.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 11/09/2025 12:12

You're all doing so well.

With regard to the tummy - it was the part of me that I hated most when I was over 20st. I always thought that it looked ugly and revolting.

It' has gradually shrunk though. And while I'm quite sure that it'll never be flat, I have to say that it's looking better and better, as I lose weight. I've lost 8st now.

Good shapewear is essential. Wirarpa knickers are excellent and I'm now in the medium sized ones, having started in XL.

Sloggi are also very good, and very expensive.

I had 2xl wirapas and now medium too. I didn't realise they were sucky pants until I got this size.

I bought some Wirarpa knick knacks on your recommendation, and they're great for a slight lift and tuck without feeling like you can't breathe!

I'll have a look, where do you buy them from?when I googled them it seems to be American sites

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/09/2025 14:28

I love reading everyone's updates 😊. And so excited for those getting close to "overweight" or "healthy" bmi.

@eibbed999 Yes that exactly! It's like everything has migrated to the stomach. Even though I know there's so much less stomach (gap between me and steering wheel yay!) It feels like the rest of me is in proportion to itself apart from the stomach! I wonder what it will look like eventually.

I know I'll have skin/overhangs and having lived in leggings forever suspect I'll just end up with cycling shorts under things. But jeans I want to wait until I don't have such a need for a generous round front!

I do love that I can curl up on the sofa and there's just space now.

@Dontjumptoconclusions im holding off really buying things (not that I've ever had a lot of clothes tbh!) until I'm much smaller. Having said that I've replaced bras, basic legging and some dresses and it does feel nice to wear them. I can still wear my size 24-26 seasalt stuff but where it's floaty the extra material just hangs so I think it's okay. I strongly suspect I was wearing them still when probably should have gone up a size 😳.

On measurements I still measure a 22 round my middle. But probably a 20elsewhere.

I can't wait to be 16-18 and able to find clothes. (And remember when I first put on weight horrified I was those sizes!)

I discovered in my last night scrolling (apologies for the appalling typos on my night time post!) that I'd still be eligible to apply for Glp meds in my own right at bmi 27 as I'm asthmatic and that's 11 stone 13, just 11pounds overweight. I know you'll all get it on here but it seems mad that you can go on these meds for 11 pounds.... If I ever get to 11stone 13 that would be such a result!!

Also - I can't see a thread on it so might start one - but there's a study showing Glps could be used for asthma - they think in obese patients it not only helps by losing weight but by reducing inflammation.... Another reason I'll want to stay on them.

But my other googling suggests that mounjaro or wegovy both reduce inflammation (the Glp 1bit does) so maybe I'll be okay to go to wegovy at some point.

OMG @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I didn't know that about asthma.

Mine has improved so much recently. I'm only using half the Symbicort I used to need (after checking with the nurse).

I used to be admitted to hospital quite often, years ago. We lived in London and my asthma was terrible.

Since moving to Argyll, it's vastly improved. No steroids needed for eight years, no hospital admissions.

And since the MJ much better overall control. How interesting.

Talking of things improving, someone on here recommender turmeric capsules for arthritic pain, so I've been taking them for a fortnight.

There's definitely a difference, so thank you, and I'm going to get a bigger bottle now.

Any improvement in your side-effects?

Ooh and I've come out of the closet, so to speak.

One of the volunteers at the dementia choir (where I'm conductor) was telling me that she's lost 6st on MJ, so I told her that I was also on it and that I'd lost 8st.

The choir is in the next village so I don't mind her knowing. 🤣🤣🤣

One of my colleagues finally said something! And he said it’s really obvious that I’ve lost weight so was surprised that no one else has said a peep!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/09/2025 17:05

Oooh go you! Was it nice to have a real life person on them to talk to? I don't know anyone irl (well probably do in that lots of people are on them but don't say - but I also didn't know many people my kind of size)

I realised after reading it that my asthma has been fine all year and I think I'm occasionally not taking my preventer as as it isn't occurring to me too sometimes - I think I'll try to keep a record so I can actively cut down a bit after winter if so.

I've had some awful chest infections and hospital trips and it's one of my biggest fears (well breathing is useful) so this is really exciting. It was one reason I became fearful of being so large (that and them not being able to operate... Or get me on a stretcher... Or turn me...).

I awe so much to mounjaro. I just wish I had more energy/sleep and motivation right now to keep up with work 😔

Doggymummar · 11/09/2025 17:28

Is anyone else stretching their medication out to make it last? I'm on day 10 now and still feeling suppression, I don't know whether to half it when I do jab, or still jab 15. I. Wish we didn't have this quandry

Yes, I am. I left 12 days between my last 2 doses, and 10 days before that. I still felt the same suppression and still lost weight. I know it isn’t recommended, and will mean I end up using my own way beyond the 30 days but I’m ok with that, I need to find a way to keep it affordable.

I'm feeling much better @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne thanks for asking! Was 2 rough days then back to good.

I have zero suppression and am hungry. Trying to just do my best.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/09/2025 22:00

I'm a fan of breathing 😊. Glad you're feeling a bit better @PearlsPearl .

I can't believe it's my jab day again tomorrow. It comes around quick. I've got a really busy weekend and all I want to do is sleep at the moment.
