And at size 32 ..I had people telling me ,oh you carry it well...you don't look that big ...you wouldn't look right skinny ...
Even my doctor never said a dickybird to me ,not once ..
And the comments..you should be happy to stop after 8! Stone...
People do like to give an opinion..and I think some people want me to stay fat ..or at least fatter than them ..well that's how it feels.
As you can see I can't sleep again ...😩

Lds1 · 10/09/2025 06:43

@Autumnflowers2 I could never wear tights but I ordered snag tights and better tights and they both fit well. Turns out cheap tights just weren't long enough for my legs and wide enough for my body even though the packet said they were.

Morning Losers! It WI for me.

Week 28, 8.75mg

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 11.5lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 14st 13.5lbs
Loss this week 2.75lb
Total loss 60.5lbs

I am pleased as punch! Into the next stone band and around what I weighed in September 2012. It’s been a while!

Motnight · 10/09/2025 07:25

@Autumnflowers2 the size 18 / 20 jumpers will be baggy on you soon so good idea to keep them if that's the style that you like

Have you looked on eBay for clothes? I've saved a lot of money buying things there this summer. You will find your clothes groove!

I would also say don't feel bad about using family money for much needed clothes This is all part of your work towards being a healthier person which can only be a good thing for your family as well as you.

Motnight · 10/09/2025 07:30

I've lost another lb this week. Slow but sure! Have now for some reason become extremely annoyed at the fact that the pens are being redesigned so that there's no golden dose anymore. The manufacturers seem to be doing all that they can to put off people from using MJ.

I am on 15 mg and feeling hungry sometimes. Trying to learn to live with it, but the week I went down to 12.5 mg as an experiment I was starving. Not at all sure that I'm going to ever be able to titrate down as I hoped that I would.

Motnight · 10/09/2025 07:31

Well done on the weight loss @TragicMuse.

Snag products are fab!

@Autumnflowers2 I understand the dilemma. There are some hideous things around. But there are also some decent clothes which are nice, not wool and not insanely expensive.

About smell - the vast majority of Vinted seller will wash the thing before. It often smells of fabric conditioner. Is that the kind of thing you mean? I’m not a fan of fabric conditioner personally, but once I’ve washed the thing it does disappear.

I know there are problems on Vinted but most of it is fine. I’ve bought a lot and not had a problem. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen but people are more vocal about a negative experience than they are about a positive one.

I absolutely hear you on the woolly jumpers. I can’t wear wool next to my skin, it ends badly for all concerned!

Is it that you need longer tops because of your height? I’d look at what they sell in somewhere like Long Tall Sally and then try and find that on Vinted or eBay.

More generally, Live Unlimited is a good brand and new to me last year. Worth looking for. The sizing is great and the style is really nice.

And last of all…yes. Some people want you to stay fat. It’s their own insecurity speaking. They’re comfortable not being the fattest and they’re going to be feeling a lot of discomfort as that dynamic changes. They have assigned you a role and there you must stay. The good news is it’s all bollocks! It’s not their choice or decision. You can do whatever you want!

Ignore them. If they can’t be realistic and happy for you then their opinion doesn’t matter. They might even be people you love and value. Doesn’t mean they’re right…

Mum2Fergus · 10/09/2025 07:42

On the clothes front, I’ve really cut down my wardrobe while I’m on my WL journey. As things become too big they were packed off to the charity shop. I’ve gone the capsule route with just 3-4 colours as it’s then easy to mix and match outfits. Currently down to 2 pairs jeans, 3 short/mid sleeve tops, 2 long sleeve tops and 2 jumpers. My ‘style’ is vintage (tea dresses, vintage hair up do’s) … but I’ll get back to all that when I’m ready.

PearlsPearl · 10/09/2025 08:11

I live in sports leggings, mainly Nike or Locket Loves. But there was no denying they were all getting too loose, the crotch was getting lower and lower. I was nervous but ordered some in the next size down (22) and they arrived and fit perfectly. I never thought I’d lose anything from my bottom half but I clearly have a bit.

I also got out two autumn jumpers I lived in last year and they’re huge on me now 💖 I like tops baggy so it’s fine with me for now.

I’m excited about buying supermarket clothes. I’ve always seen nice bits and thought no never. Whereas now I think I might have a wander around Sainsbury’s soon.

TragicMuse · 10/09/2025 08:37

The other thing, which I bang on about at every opportunity, is to book a personal shopping session. John Lewis do them. They’re free. There’s no pressure to buy, though they’re happy if you do!

But they have them for all kinds of options - new season, wardrobe refresh, AND seeing what suit you. I did one and it entirely altered my view of myself. She was lovely. And she pointed out things about myself that I didn’t know. Eg I have a long torso/waist. I always thought I was fairly evenly proportioned vertically, but I’m not. And that’s why the waist on EVERYTHING was always in the wrong place or tops were too short. Now I know this and can adjust accordingly.

I’m going to book another because it was such fun!

Doggymummar · 10/09/2025 09:38

@Autumnflowers2 losing weight you really need to buy clothes, or you'll be a hermit like me who never leaves the house. This year I discovered Whatnot but be careful it's addictive. There are some great plus size sellers on there and some real bargains. The only thing I bought new was some Zara jeans and knickers and tights. Even bras and pyjamas are from Whatnot. I also sell on eBay and have stuff from size zero to 24 currently, it was 32 but that sold. If you look for people with over 99pc ratings you're not going to get stung.

Dontjumptoconclusions · 10/09/2025 09:53

I read somewhere to keep buying clothes as your weight drops because it carries on your incentive to lose weight. I've been putting off buying clothes because I'm not at goal, but realistically I look pretty awful in my size 28s hanging off me. I've started to look around, quite like the Asos sales. I find it strange looking at slim models as I've always shopped in plus sized (JD williams, Yours) stores. Something to get used to.

In other news, does anyone have any experience in losing weight after starting a new exercise regime? I'm doing C25K and on run number 6, so far so good. But the scales have decided to gain 2lbs. And I get it, I guess I'm building muscle, retaining water or whatever it is when exercising, but when can I start to expect to see the weight shift again?

The motivation is there when the scales shift so I'm nervous if I plateau for too long, I'll just call it a day. 😑

SilenceInside · 10/09/2025 09:55

@Autumnflowers2 I am another one who is a bit addicted to Vinted! I can't bring myself to pay full price for new clothes when there is so much available second hand, often new with tags. I have not had any bad experiences so far. Everything has been packaged decently and been in the condition that the seller claimed. I tend to filter out items that are in "Satisfactory" condition, and I only buy things that have lots of clear pictures including the care label. I check the seller's rating and review before I buy, and there are also Pro sellers who tend to be quick at sending out and responding to questions and have good quality items. My best buy was a Boden corduroy jacket which was £5 plus p&p and was in as new condition.

I wear leggings a lot with dresses rather than tights, but I agree that Snag tights are miles better than any other tights I've worn in the past. I think you can wear trainers with any dress that you like tbh, which is what I do!

I bought a few "one size" dresses from Apache Shops which I have worn from size 22 down to size 14 now. They're cheap but decent quality so might be worth a look?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/09/2025 09:59

I let myself get like that from a health point of view but was in complete denial - wouldn’t look in the mirror in the lift at work for example.

That's reminded me.
There's a long mirror in our bedroom, and when I was very overweight, I always closed my eyes when I approached it. It broke my heart to have visual proof of me at over 20 stone.

@Autumnflowers2 I've been buying and selling clothes on Vinted for over a year.

Literally only one package arrived which wasn't done up nicely.

I've received one jumper, in all that time, which didn't smell very fresh. I contacted the seller and she gave me a refund and let me keep it anyway.

Most people wash and pack things very well. I mean, I always do, and you can tell when people have gone to extra trouble.

Check the seller's reviews before you buy. There are brand new clothes on there, with tags on, for a fraction of the price. And the second hand ones are almost always just as good.

I wash things when I receive them. I'm sure that most people do.

But don't be put off from buying smaller clothes. You deserve them, and they needn't cost a fortune.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/09/2025 10:14

@Autumnflowers2 with regard to people telling you to stop losing weight - it's nonsense. If you were a size 32 and you've lost 8st, it'll be obvious to anyone looking at you.

But that doesn't mean you should stop. I think that there is cognitive dissonance from people who look at us when we're clearly losing weight.
There's also a cruel and jealous streak in a lot of people.
They regard us as fat, and therefore, we need to remain fat, or their own size becomes less relevant.

There won't be anyone to mock if all the fat people become thin, will there?

@Dontjumptoconclusions I started C25K at the start of May this year and completed the 9 weeks. I lost weight throughout that timeframe, with the usual fluctuations including a week with a gain and a couple of weeks of no loss. So as difficult as it is, try not to worry about a week where the scales show a gain, as it will work itself out and the scales will continue to move downwards.

I found the thrill of completing each week's runs was a motivator in itself, as well as what the scales say.

Woodywig · 10/09/2025 11:15

@Dontjumptoconclusions I work out with a PT twice a week. Due to work my pattern it means my PT sessions fall on back-to-back days. I usually find my weight does nudge up following those two strenuous work outs - which I assume is water retention in my aching muscles!

I’ve been working out with my PT for three years and I’m quite strong now & lift some heavy weights. But it’s only now that I’ve dropped some weight that muscles are beginning to look more defined. I love it! All the sweat & hard work in the gym & can finally SEE the results.

good luck on your C25K - sounds like you’re smashing it! x

Thankyou for all the replies
Taking it on board
I think ..I'm struggling what I think a 52 year old woman should look like ...
And what I like clothes wise .. something different... alternative slightly..I've gone through ska ,punk ,pixie girl trends ,in clothes and hair ,I'm full of tats and usually have dyed hair ..
Now I'm looking at yours clothing and all the other shops I mentioned and nothing is floating my boat ..plus the wool , polyester issue ..and I'm very tall ,so I need long jumpers ..
I'm jumping from one style to another, because I can't find my neich..and trying to wear up the bits that do fit and make jackets work that I only bought in the same ,but don't really like ..
Also need new underwear and swimming costume soon 😩.
But thankyou everyone who replied ,lots to consider xxx

Sale not same

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 10/09/2025 12:21

Have you looked on Vinted @Autumnflowers2?
There's so much there.
I've just collected two parcels from the post office - I got two brand new jumpers. They had tags on so their cost when new was £48.

I paid £6.75 for one and £5.70 for the other.

Hi @Autumnflowers2 maybe take a look at this jumper from Amazon, at least to find something new - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Essentials-Lightweight-Sweater-Heather/dp/B07QGF97NK/ref=ast_sto_dp_puis - I had two of them (in plus sizes) and they are a cotton/modal/poly mix coming in lots of colours and wash well on cold and then dry quickly on a drying rack (I wouldn't tumble dry them). Plus Amazon you can return and refund if you hate it. They run very long, at least they did on me at 5 foot 4 (down to mid thigh!). Still drapey and comfy and not tight, but might fit a bit better as you get smaller. Plus great colour choices.
