So weird Pearl, hope you feel better soon

Hellenicnim · 08/09/2025 21:24

0.8 kg off for me this week and I'm flapping about numbers - I did consciously chose to go for kg this time round as I've done lots of diets and if I was weighing in stones and lbs I'd probably be berating myself for how much I weigh and putting subsequent weight losses back on but now I'm just annoying myself because obviously a kg is more so weekly losses after the first big drops are part of a kg and I'm like I wish it was 0.2 more to be a whole kg (even though that loss is more than a pound which I'd be happy with as its not half a pound) honestly my attempt to not fixate on numbers is not going well so far. But the 0.8 does take me to a round 10kg lost in 6 weeks

So very sorry @PearlsPearl, I can feel your fear and sadness. Sending you a big virtual hug x

Motnight · 08/09/2025 21:59

Really sorry to read this @PearlsPearl.

Autumnflowers2 · 09/09/2025 05:43

Oh no @PearlsPearl ..that's not good news
Could it be something you have eaten that's disagreed with you

Autumnflowers2 · 09/09/2025 06:04

Just thinking
When it comes to weight loss ,does anyone know what the percentage is of how much is down to calories and how much is down to exercise
Basically..am I really going to make a difference to weight loss by cycling and rowing..or is swimming every day enough

Onenotsosmallstep · 09/09/2025 08:28

Ahh @PearlsPearl that’s tough. How did the interview go?

Completely understand the fear of having to go back to life without the medication to suport. Maybe given the debilitating side effects though MJ isn’t the one for you, like someone else suggested how about giving wegovy a try instead; you might find it has all the positives without these issues?

I think the figure quoted usually is 80oc diet 20pc exercise

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/09/2025 09:33

Oh @PearlsPearl sorry it's so difficult 😔.

@Woodywig I'm another ex Shemed! Although I was one of the lucky ones - I had 8months on £99 so went upto 10mg and got a very good deal overall before they crashed. It really sucks for those on your deal who have ended up paying more.

@mo25 Have you lost 5 stone in 4 months? That's incredibly fast. Are you getting enough nutrition? I'd personally be worried about going too fast and drop back down a dose - but I've been worried about the harm that going fast can do to the body and I know we all weigh up risk differently.

I'm finding my sleeps disrupted even more on 10. I'm loving 10 weight loss wise but not in other ways! I'm not sure if it's weeing more or just I wake so then wee. Or if it's more work stress. I take magnesium but I'm so tired.

GnomeDePlume · 09/09/2025 09:36

I was thinking about sulphur burps. I haven't had them so far (touch wood) but I don't eat egg at all (they make me feel nauseous). Also, my cheese consumption is down to all but nothing.

Are sulphur burps triggered by slow digestion of certain foods?

Had baked potato for dinner last night with leftover Guardienne de Torro (Spanish style beef stew). I ate one modestly sized potato, no cheese, no butter. This isnt me!

Fortunately catering in my household is down to DH rather than me. He is an excellent cook and has fully embraced my new diet.

Doggymummar · 09/09/2025 09:40

I find it's chip shop chips that gave me the sulphur burps, it's the only time I eat potato or fried things so it could be either. I had smash mashed potato last night and that didn't affect me.

EverybodysALebowski · 09/09/2025 10:17

Very sorry it's not going well @PearlsPearl and hope things improve soon!

Tried to bump up from 4.0 to 4.5 this week and have had a bit of the gastro side effects overnight, when Dose Diary tells me the concentration in my system was the highest. Didn't help that I had a leftover veggie bhaji at dinner yesterday as well. I've always loved cabbage and broccoli, but right now it appears they don't love me! Guess I'll be sticking to 4.0 or eating more carefully the day after injection. At least this time the effects were manageable and appear to be waning.

Fffreeeeezing · 09/09/2025 10:43

I wonder if the sulphur burps are related to how 'regular' you are getting rid of your stomach contents out the other end?!

Sulphur burps are something that haven't affected me so far (touch wood!) but I consciously eat a lot of fibre to ensure I go a minimum of once a day. I know this has been an issue for you @PearlsPearl so maybe if you could get that sorted, the sulphur burps would stop? Feel free to ignore, I'm not a medical expert (unless watching Greys Anatomy and every other medical drama ever counts?) but logically it's all digestion related so fixing one issue may have a knock on effect and bring about some relief.

Anyway, I hope you're feeling better today

PearlsPearl · 09/09/2025 12:17

Hi everyone, thanks for all the well wishes. I'm feeling much less wobbly today.

Definitely side effects and not something unrelated, as had the exact same experiences for the last 3 times I've jabbed. How I wish I could turn back time and have never gone up to 5.

I don't want to give up on mj yet because the first 3 months were so so so good. Not just in terms of weight loss but the effect it had on my inflammation in my lipeodema has been life changing. So I'm going to keep trying. I won't take it for the next 2 Sundays (I'm going on holiday for one of them anyway) and then will try a 1.25mg dose in 3 weeks. That's the plan I've made. And will see how we go from there.

I haven't read anything about Wegovy positively impacting inflammation and that worries me. But I will switch if I can't get back to the good place I was in previously.

@Fffreeeeezing the burps only appear after I have jabbed which is what I find weird. Like surely if it was because of the food in me sitting there I'd have them all the time? But I'm definitely going to use this break in jabs to try and get on top of the constipation, starting with taking my first sachet of movicol tonight. Will do 2 a day for the foreseeable future and see how that goes.

Thanks again for everyone being so lovely to me. So lucky to have wonderful friends in this corner of mn 😍

PinkArt · 09/09/2025 13:55

I don't know if there's anything in this, but I've never had the sulphur burps, which is very off brand for my fucked digestive system. It could be because I loosely follow a low FODMAP diet, to help with my IBS. It's designed as an elimination diet but my tummy protested loudly any time I tried to reintroduce anything so I've stuck with a modified version.
The headlines are no onions, garlic, dairy, pulses, some fruit and veg. It's restrictive, but might be worth looking at, temporary at least, for anyone suffering with The Burps.

I don't have the link to hand but if you Google "components of tdee" then there's a nifty graph that shows how much calories you burn from different activities....the general gist is that you burn much more from general low level activity than from dedicated exercise. But let's face it, any exercise is better than none and the best exercise is probably the one that you enjoy and will stick to. Anecdotally I find swimming and walking best for my weight loss.

I don’t exercise tho started to do boot camp once a week for 45m

still manged to lose almost 7s so for me it’s the food in /calories that makes a diff

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2025 18:33

@PearlsPearl sorry so poorly. Speak to your consultants to see what they advise

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2025 18:39

From what I gather wavgony isn’t so good for inflammation and mj much better

it is so weird how some are sailing tho with no side effects and on 15 like me

and others struggle with 5 and have sulphur burps

TragicMuse · 09/09/2025 19:24

I hope it settles for you Pearls.

TragicMuse · 09/09/2025 19:30

I have another NSV!

I just went to put on some jeans (bought at my max weight, size 24), added the belt and it’s just not right. So I’ve put on another pair of skinnies which are 2 sizes smaller (very stretchy!). And still a bit loose. And a top I’ve had for approaching 25 years which is a) a bit cropped and b) an 18 and c) I haven’t worn it for about 10 years. It’s fine! I’m not tugging it down! It’s one of my favourite old things!

I spent the day in a dress I made last year which is now absurdly huge. And now I understand the difference between ‘relaxed baggy’ and ‘way too big, makes you look bigger’. I shall have to pass it on! Or remake it. Or repurpose the fabric.

i can really see the difference!

No, it’s 4 stone in almost 5 months. I suspect I am not quite eating enough though hence the excessive hair shedding. I’m like a Labrador. No loose skin so far….

mo25 · 09/09/2025 21:42

Woodywig · 08/09/2025 14:10

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I do think you are right about the clothes - I was wearing a size 24 but in reality I think I they were a bit on the small size…

I have things like floaty sleeve blouses which I felt fit well at the time - but the arms always seemed a tad short!

But now I realise they were actually too small & now I'm a bit smaller myself the arms are normal length!

Im still wearing many of my size 24s which are really quite baggy now! Things that are really too big, I’ve bagged up & popped in the attic - I’m too scared to charity shop them in case they’re needed again one day. I know it’s not the right mind set really…

This was me at the start squeezing into size 18’s that I was popping out of and unable to bend down to do up my laces. I suspect I was really a size 22. I’m horrified I let myself get like that from a health point of view but was in complete denial - wouldn’t look in the mirror in the lift at work for example.

Autumnflowers2 · 10/09/2025 01:49

I can't find my style clothes wise ,I do need some autumn bits ,
But jeans are all to loose at the tops of my legs
I liked wearing a dress in the summer ,but if I buy dresses ,even in the sale ,I can't get on with tights and I'd need a jacket or jumper to go over them and then it all adds up ... .and I don't know what dresses goes with trainers ..I used to be a doc Martin person and have a couple of pairs ,but they hurt my feet hence trainers .
So I'm lost and despite my weight loss feeling a mess
My husband convinced me in to keep ING some 18/20 jumpers ,but I knew I should of sent them back as I need things baggy.
I've got 2 leapord print jackets for autumn, one grey one brown ,but nothing to go under them .all the jumpers I like are 66 cm and I need baggy and 74 CMS ,plus they need to be acrylic..and they keep putting wool or polyester 😩 in the ones I like ..
I know I need to look on vinted ..I don't know why I haven't,heard bad things I suppose..clothes arriving in crisps packets or similar..I'm funny with smells so if it arrives with a smell or not clean ,I've then to send it back ..
I've ordered from ASOS and it went back ,shein ,, nothing I like ,boohoo nothing I like , Sainsbury's nothing I like ,simply be all 66 CMS ,new look all fitted in curve section need baggy
Ugh

Autumnflowers2 · 10/09/2025 01:55

I suppose I feel bad enough taking family money for monjroro,to then need clothes as well ...
I just feel I'm taking the piss
I've literally hardly any clothes..I had plenty of choice in a 32 ,as I'd been that size for years and had built up (in the sale obviously) some nice bits .plus size 32 always had so much in the sale ..now I can't find my bargains any more 😩
