Wonderful @Iwouldratherbesinging !

PositiveAttitude · 31/08/2025 11:12

@PearlsPearlI have 2 apps running because I have done the same, lost a bit before starting MJ and want to add that in.
I use "Monitor your weight" app and that gives you all the percentages and info you are looking for. Just put your starting date from when you started losing the weight originally.

I am a math geek and love to play with numbers, %, graphs and nerdy things like that, but this app does it all for you.

I have decided to be more careful with my calorie deficit and have just downloaded the Nutracheck app. It's brilliant!!! I know I will get bored doing that very quickly, but for today, I think I will give it a go.

Have a good Sunday you lovely losers. 😁

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 31/08/2025 11:13

Wow @Iwouldratherbesinging you look amazing!!!

I am so pleased with how far I've come but aware I still look obese in photos etc, still have a round stomach. But I'm hopeful it will get there (finances permitting 😬)
.
@GnomeDePlume As ever I'm on awe that you cna just whip up your own clothes!! It must feel amazing to physically see the patterns /material shrinking.

@PearlsPearl wahoooo. I reached that moment last week I think I kept singing "" woooo hoop we're half way there... " to. My kids disgust. It's very exciting.

I flit (as ever) between being pleased and being aware how far there is to go. Especially now finances are an issue. (I did my measurements for first time in 2 months and they're all steadily going down. Even if they match a Seasalt 22 😔. I can't wait to be size 18 is what I've got in my head to be able to easily shop. I'm wearing seasalt 20 but it's the dresses that are forgiving. I'm also still wearing my 24-26 ones! You'd so hope at 5.5 stone loss for it to be more obvious but I'm thinking kitchen roll effect and how much more obvious this next year will be...)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 31/08/2025 11:26

Oh my sulphur burps are back too. Its my 3rd 10mg dose and I started before term started to hope I'd avoid side effects but I'm back tomorrow with real people.

All I ate yesterday was greek yoghurt and fruit and then out frozen yoghurt at a stall, then salmon/mashed potato/mixed green beans in IKEA! I wasn't super hungry after the jab Friday so I thought I hadn't eaten anything odd. I haven't had sulphur burps all summer but it's what I wa afraid of going up a dose 😬

I'm so hoping I stay losing on 10. I'm wishing I'd managed to stay on low doses now the prices are so high!!

Motnight · 31/08/2025 11:38

@Iwouldratherbesinging you look fabulous 🤩

PearlsPearl · 31/08/2025 11:45

Apologies, I'm posting loads at the moment but I had to share this with you all. I just did a one hour dog walk with no stopping 😍including small hills. We did an hour last week but stopped to pick up coffee half way. Today was a full hour. And I'm totally fine, a bit sweaty but happy and not knackered or anything. It was a bit slow because I'm slow but yay. Over 3.5km can't believe it.

This time last year I first went to the special little gym with the PT who specialises in back conditions (referred from GP) and cried when I could only manage 5 mins on the treadmill. And was in pain and pouring with sweat.

@Doggymummar poor you that sounds absolutely rotten. Draw a line under it now and move forwards, one bad day doesn't have to be a bad week etc. You can reset now.

@PositiveAttitude thanks for the app, I'll check it out!

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden the only thing that gave me any relief from the sulphur burps was the pepto bismol recommended on here. Honestly it tastes like shit but takes the smell away a lot. And yay you for being half way there too 🙌

@Iwouldratherbesinging looking amazing and I'm so glad you feel loads better too!

Don’t let the photos fool you @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, I still have a stomach and I don’t think it will ever completely go, here’s proof! And I have ‘support’ gym leggings on.

I also love these knickers, they are supportive and so comfy, not restricting at all. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07J3WYCHH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1&psc=1

also re Seasalt, have you looked at their Sea Mirror dresses at all, I love them with leggings and they are oversized, I’m now an 18 but buy them in a size 14 on Vinted, they are lovely for us bigger boobed and bellied gals. As a 22 I would buy an 18.

@PearlsPearl well done!!!!! That's amazing!! It think we've had similar experiences. Its incredible the difference in mobility isn't it!!! 🥳🥳.

I went out to the next big town to go shopping (I hate shopping) with one of my kids and then went to ikea. I hate it all for other reasons (overwhelming) BUT about half way round I realised my child had never been out with me like this - I would be looking for benches and waiting outaide the shops and needing to "stop for coffee" as I just couldn't stand very long.

And never ever would I do ikea and shopping on the same day 😳. I'm admittedly exhausted today and realising I've lost the morning but really the fact I did it is amazing.

We are so making lifechanging changes here aren't we.

I think I will try and stay on Mounjaro a bit longer in case the wegovy doesn't do the same... I mean it might... But what if it doesn't 😬.

If anyone wanted to ,
I'd find it so helpful to see what other people eat in a day ,meals wise and their approx weight loss per week .
At some point I want to be able to eat 3 meals a day ,even if the first two are very small.
I just keep finding its taking me past my calories when I try
Sorry ,I feel I'm posting a lot at the moment, but I'm not posting on any other weight loss thread ,so you guys get all my random thoughts 🤔

afaloren · 31/08/2025 11:58

Well done @PearlsPearl ! Being able to walk a long time with my dog was a big motivator for me.

I’ve realised I can sit in my garden chairs without completely filling them. There’s daylight at both sides!

Breakfast: I have either a berry mix with two big spoonfulls of greek yoghurt, one of kefir and a handful of mixed nuts OR 2 eggs poached or scrambled with 1 slice of wholemeal toast and a scraping of butter. Eaten after 10am.
Lunch: More of a snack really eg a babybel light and 2 felafel. Eaten around 3pm.
Dinner: Fish and vegetables OR a vegetarian bean or lentil based veggie mix. Eaten around 7pm.
No pasta or rice. Occasionally I have 1 or 2 small potatoes with the fish.
This fits with what I have learnt to eat on the Zoe program too.
I am loosing 2lb a week. I am on week 9 and 3.75mg of MJ

We're all losing different amounts.

We're all at different stages.

Anyway - I have been losing weight for 21 months now.

I started at just over 20st and I'm now just over 12st.

My weightloss has slowed down to 2/3lb a month.

But it's still going down.

Last Christmas I was 14st 1lb.

Last week, I was 12st 1lb. So it took me 8 months to lose that 2st.

My shape has changed a lot in that time. I am wearing size 12 clothes. I can walk comfortably and quickly now.

What I'm trying to get across is that the scales are moving very, very slowly for me, but they're moving, and I trust the process.

I'm eating about 1400 cals a day. I try to do OMAD three days a week.

So I only eat between 4.30pm and 7.30pm on those days.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 31/08/2025 12:12

As to what I eat @Autumnflowers2

I just eat what I used to, but smaller portions, and no piles of crap food on top.

The only way I can do this is by not buying the crisps, the cakes, the biscuits.

I do love ice cream though, and I still eat it.

Maybe I'd lose more than 2/3lb a month if I didn't eat ice cream

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 31/08/2025 12:15

I love the comparison pictures of you @Iwouldratherbesinging and they show a brilliant difference!

We're all getting there, slowly and surely. I know what you mean about the abdominal fat. Mine is finally starting to shift. I think it'll be the last thing to go. Good shapewear is essential. Thanks, Wirarpa.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I'm hoping to be around 14st 1 at Xmas all going well. I'm aware I'm in fits and starts now with weight loss so it might not get there.

But helpful to think I could be just that bit behind you - and to have a mental picture for how next year might go!

At what weight/stage did you start fitting into 16/14 size clothes? If you remember!

Definitely last Christmas.

So around the 14st mark or just above it, I was easily into size 16s and managing to get into size 14s in some clothes.

Tops and jumpers were about a size 12 when I was 14st.

And I remember going to Glasgow Central Station just before that (so Dec 2024) and feeling very, very thin! Because in December 2023 I had weighed over 20st, so I'd gone down 6st in that year.

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 31/08/2025 12:33

Also Fatsia I'm sure you're a lot younger than I am so you're more likely to lose weight faster.
(I'm 69)

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 31/08/2025 12:40

Thinking about this last year, it just shows that clothes sizes do drop more quickly as we weigh less.

At the very start, I didn't need smaller clothes until I'd lost 4st. And nobody noticed I'd lost weight until at least then.

It's that kitchen roll analogy again.

@SecretNameforMN Just to echo what others have said - this is a really supportive place and we've all been in similar situations. It's easy to say and hard to do I know, but try not to focus on the past but on the fact that you've started the journey - yes, you've got a long way to go but for me MJ has finally given me the absolute confidence that I really will get there and you will too. My starting weight was around 25st and I felt completely overwhelmed and hopeless at the scale of the task ahead but now, 6 months in, I've lost nearly 6st and know I can keep going. Believe in the process, take it a day at a time and congratulate yourself on being brave enough to take the first step!

Oh, and I think you were worries about side effects? I've hardly had any for the 6 months - I've been very cold and had a bit of constipation but that's been it. I think it's largely a matter of luck. Fingers crossed you'll be lucky too!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 31/08/2025 12:44

Oooh that's exciting. It might be that 14 will be a good place for me 😁 and I don't have to feel I need to wait til healthy bmi to be "there"!

I'm 47. I've made peace (ish) with having excess skin if I get there and know I'll have an overhang as my weight has always been on my belly even when I put on the first few stone.

I'm 5ft 6 and just looking at pictures of me in January I can now see a difference - even if I can technically wear the same clothes. I wore a seasalt autumny dress yeaterday and realised it hung so much better than when I (over) filled it!

21st 11 - Started Jan (heaviest 22st 11)
16st 4 - today. (5st7 loss)

13st 3 for 30 bmi
11st 2 for 25

I realise the 30 and 25bmi might be forever to get to but if I have "14" in my head as a nice place to be that is a good medium term goal. (15 10i is bmi 35 which is my next goal!)

A tiny part of me is still wondering if I should try oviva as you can access it if bmi is 35+ for free wegovy.... Which financially makes sense. But I'm too scared to jinx the mounjaro just yet.

There is a specific thread - what I ate today mounjaro. Sorry I don't know how to link to it, but should hopefully be able to find it.
My usual days look like this:
B - fage 0% fat yogurt with chia seeds, walnuts, maple syrup and sometimes banana.
L - eggs on toast or something snacky like a combo of the following - chicken skewers/babybel/cheese/salad/crackers. Protein yogurt and maybe a couple of rich tea fingers after.
D - small portion of family meal - curry and rice, spaghetti bolognese, salmon and veg, sausage, mash and veg etc.
