Can't believe we've got to 7 threads, but all are welcome!

Morning all, just catching up on the thread. I don’t post much as I can’t keep up with the pace it moves at these days but I do like catching up at the weekend.

love all the NSVs this week, particularly eibbedd’s loo story, I can’t wait until the day I can comfortably walk into a tiny loo and turn around to shut the door without shuffling!

to the poster who has plateaued this month, I have been in a similar position since Easter. I’ve only lost 4 stone so far and am also down to a size 20 now. It’s been so slow and annoying but I think I may finally have turned a corner the last fornight.

which brings me to the reason I actually wanted to post - there was some chat on the previous thread about the size needles that people are using, with some debate about whether 4mm is long enough for those of us with a lot of fat to get through. Given my plateau I decided to try 6mm needles before moving up from 12.5 and I’ve lost 6lbs in the last 2 weeks, despite being on holiday! The difference was immediate using the bigger needle, I feel like I did when I first started using mounjaro, cravings for alcohol and sweet things that had crept back in have just vanished. So longer needles might be worth a try for the largest among us. I’m worried that this will stop working so really glad to have started losing again. Fingers crossed it continues. I do think there’s something in sweet point theory though. My current weight is my thinnest weight in the last 20 years. Every time I’ve dieted and had a big effort to lose 3-4 stone this is where I’ve got to and I’ve lost energy to continue the hunger and deprivation. I think my body is going to have to try really hard to get smaller but I’m up for the fight.

have a good weekend all, off to investigate that lose it app and see what animal I’ve lost 😃

PearlsPearl · 30/08/2025 12:41

Thanks for asking @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I’m all better! But definitely not jabbing tomorrow and having a week off cos I can’t go through that for a third week 🙈💩

Hope everyone has a good weekend! DW and I are in town getting our eyebrows done, just waiting for her. We had to park at the further away car park and usually if that happened previously I’d be grumpy and struggle up the hill, but actually totally fine now and I was chatting away not out of breath at all. Yay for progress, I’ll never take my mobility for granted 💖

Gosh ,really ,that must of been really stressful for you ..is that ozempic you were on first .
I've two pens of monjroro left ,so need to use those up before I make any decisions about a swap

I was on Rybelsus, you know what, it wasn't stressful, I trusted the process and I knew it was my body looking for a new set point. It was frustrating and expensive tho. So I swapped to MJ as it was cheaper. Now the tables are turned.

Lds1 · 30/08/2025 13:09

I've been to the shops, I bought another pair of size 14 jeans they're a different style and too short so they're going back. I also got a size 12 in my trusted wide leg style and they go on but are tight! I might just swap the 14s for another 12, might even walk to the shop!

I got a jumper in a small, I assume it's an oversized style or labelled wrong. I also got a sports top in a 12 which is mind blowing!!

Doggymummar · 30/08/2025 13:10

Thankfully on my weigh this morning I have dropped my 4lb I gained last week at the toxic mothers and a little bit to reach my new lowest weight. That's a relief, I thought at my usual half a pound a week I was gonna be 8 weeks dropping that.

Fantastic @Lds1 . I bought some jeans in Zara two weeks ago, their find my size put me at large. They looked great but we're very over sized so I ordered them in small and they were tight on my hips on Tuesday but today they look great. Well done to you.

Lds1 · 30/08/2025 13:20

@Doggymummar I haven't tried actual shops yet, just supermarkets which have bigger sizing I think. I'm not sure I'd get into anything in Zara yet! Maybe I should look online and order bits from actual shops then it's not as daunting as having to go into a shop and figure out what size I need.

Definitely, I'm a hobbit and barely ever leave the house so wouldn't think to go into an actual shop! We only have Fatface Roman and M and s where I live too so would struggle. Mist if my stuff these days is secondhand from Whatnot

OvertiredandConfused · 30/08/2025 16:43

Love the shopping stories @Lds1 and @Doggymummar. Especially impressed about Zara – I’ve only ever managed to fit into one thing there, regardless of my weight and size elsewhere!

We’ve been having a sort out of things that have been shoved into the loft today! Among them were some of the clothes I kept from when I was slim. It was such a long time ago that I wouldn’t wear most of them now even if they fit!

However it was interesting to be reminded that even at my thinnest (when I genuinely felt as if I looked too thin) I was wearing almost entirely a size 14. There were a couple of size 12 in there, but that’s all.

When I started this journey, I said I’d be happy if I could get to be a 16 and would reassess then, depending how I felt and how easy or difficult it would be to continue losing. Finding those clothes has definitely reinforced that for me.

Doggymummar · 30/08/2025 18:15

Maybe if you sell the clothes you can find next months pen? We all have our own goals we are aiming for don't we? My toxic mother said I could still lose about 4 stone. I'm pretty much universally a ten everywhere and an 8 some places. Still not a healthy BMI But I wasn't thinking of losing 4 stone. She's bitter because she is a 14 now so bigger than me for the first time in her life and she doesn't like it.

SecretNameforMN · 30/08/2025 18:26

Speaking of clothes, it is literally ten years since I have been able to buy anything in person; all my clothes have either been sourced from the tiny handful of online sellers who cater to a skirt or dress size 36/38. This has severely limited what I can wear to what they sell, which isn't much.

I had a dressmaker for a couple of years so had a few things made from fabric I bought online. Sadly she's retired now and although I had andertised locally I have still not found a replacement.

None of my shoes have fitted me for years. Lately I have been buying extra-extra-wide men's shoes in a size 9 or 10 (when I was a normal size I took a 7).

I would love to get down to a size 20/22, that would give me a far wider range of choice in clothes.

It was also be great to wear women's shoes again!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/08/2025 18:58

I'm rooting for you so much @SecretNameforMN

You've been through a lot. I'm sure that MJ will really, really help you.

Absolutely you will get there. Just pootle along at your own pace, I started in march 2023and it's amazing how much had changed in that time.

Indeed. There have been thousands of incidents involving horrible embarrassment and humiliation. I once broke a bench seat in the dining room of a guest house. In a hotel I tried to sit on a pull-down seat inside the shower, and broke it completely off the wall. I cannot fit into any chair with arms and daren't sit on any without arms as I am sure it would collapse under me. I've even had to pee in front of a bunch of strangers because I could not get a pub's toilet door past my huge bulk to close it.

I also fear that I am the most overweight person on this thread.

Missingducks · 30/08/2025 19:22

But seriously so what if you are @SecretNameforMN - we simply accept you for who you are and for being on this path with us. It's not a race or a competition to see who gets to their sweet spot ... It's about celebrating every success along the way (loo doors, chairs with arms, shoe laces, walking up stairs, airline extender belts, new clothes etc) and hopefully long and happy and healthy lives. But mostly it's to wish each other well and to empathise when it seems no-one else understands.

You've got this, and we've got your back x

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/08/2025 19:31

Aw honey, it doesn't matter. I believe that everyone on the thread truly wishes to support everyone else, no matter what their weight is. None of us judges the others.

We are filled with compassion for one another, because we've all been in awful situations, too.

I think we've come to realise that, as extremely overweight people, our weightloss journeys are very, very different to those who start off at 12st and are aiming for 9st.

PearlsPearl · 30/08/2025 20:26

@SecretNameforMN I echo the others, we are not in any way competing here, we all just support each other no matter what. And I've had my own fair share of humiliations, not fitting in seats (had to leave a theatre), breaking chairs (hairdressers- mortifying) etc etc.

Those days are going to be behind you. It'll take as long as it'll take but you'll be so pleased you started.

afaloren · 30/08/2025 20:38

@SecretNameforMN bless you. Lots of people on this thread may have been the heaviest at some point. I probably would have been had I joined at my heaviest.

Many of us have experienced broken furniture, toilet horrors, I got thrown off a rollercoaster for being too fat and also had to miss a theatre show because I found I literally couldn’t fit in the seat, just for example. I’m not saying this to dismiss your experiences; just to (I hope) make you feel a little less alone. Everyone here is rooting for you.

Lds1 · 30/08/2025 20:56

@SecretNameforMN I also had an issue with chairs especially benches and those with arms. I couldn't sit on the tube where the seats were divided by arms, had to use seatbelt extenders on planes etc.

We've all been at the start of our plans it's just some of us are further on, we don't care what size people start or even end at, we're all just here to support each other as we all know how it feels having so much to lose.

@SecretNameforMNI agree with what others have said here and I love this thread for it. A lot of my goals are to be able to do things that most of the population take for granted. My “enough is enough” moment came when I thought I would miss a long awaited trip to the theatre to see kinky boots because I simply did not fit into the seat. I managed to sort of perch on the edge and lean back in the end but I was deeply uncomfortable and it spoilt the show.
You are not alone, I’m so happy to have joined this thread!

I think everyone starts losing weight thinking about the numbers: weight, size etc. But what keeps us going and IMO is what it is really all about are the NSVs.

I don't have a goal weight. I don't care about the numbers at all. But I have a whole long list of things I would love to be able to do, and those are my goals.

Thanks to everyone for your very kind and supportive replies.

One of my new rules is to be in bed by 10pm so it's goodnight from me!

PearlsPearl · 30/08/2025 22:13

@Rainbowcat99 the exact same thing happened to me at Dear Evan Hansen. It physically hurt me to be perched on the edge of the seat leaning back and I was SO upset.

NSVs all the way. I have one from today, look! We were in Primark and DS asked me to hold his jumper. Without thinking I just tied it round my waist. AROUND MY WAIST. 🤩

And then obviously took a photo to show you all!

Thanks. I look smaller in photos but my bottom half is a size 24. None of my bottoms are too big yet (slightly looser).
