I kind of need some advice
I did post right on the end of the last thread ,so I'm just sorting of reposting,as I'm not sure what to do
Coming up to *10 months on monjroro
4 pounds of an 8 stone loss
I've not lost a pound the whole of August
Just loosing and gaining the same 2 pounds .
Most people will loose 8 stone and be at the end of their journey,so not need to loose any more .
So I'm wondering if it's just stopped working, because it thinks it's done it's job..
Or it's designed to not work after a large loss ,or my body has got used to it ..
I'm on 15 ,and I'm hungry and thinking about food a lot more .
I've needed a lot of willpower anyway on monjroro,it hasn't stopped me feeling hungry ever ,but it did take away a lot of food noise .
I'm thinking maybe I'm eating more without realising,I usually stick to 1200 cals a day ,I've done that the whole 10 months .
Or maybe I need to try ozempic,to kick start weight loss ,but I've still 2 ,15 mg pens to use up.
Has anyone else had this
I'm worried It will lead to a binge if I drop my calories any lower
I'm currently a size 20 ..so plenty of weight to loose still .
Bit lost with it really
Gald of any thoughts

I dont know if this is good news or bad, when I got to 202lb from 270 I plataud for 9 months. Yes you read that right. I was on semaglutide at the time and from jan to Sept I lost the same two pound over and over. Thanks when I swapped to mounjaro and have lost 60lb or thereabouts since then.

I don't take any supplements at all.

I just try to eat the same (of the healthy stuff) as I ate before, but much less of it than I used to. I've always cooked from scratch.

My downfall was eating vast quantities of utter crap on top of my healthy diet. So on MJ, I miss the utter crap out.
🤣

Edited

Same. Except I do take, and did before, turmeric, vit D and magnesium. I’ve added in biotin since my hair started falling out, not that it’s making a difference 😩

I've ordered some turmeric, to try to help with arthritic pain.

I take vitamin D but I have for years, because of the climate here.

@SecretNameforMN you can use an online TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) calculator to work out what calorie total you need each day to maintain your weight. You can then subtract 500 cals to be in a deficit that will result in a steady weight loss. The TDEE calculator will ask for your current weight, height, sex, age and estimated activity level and then work out your TDEE.

In terms of supplements you don’t need anything. I’ve always taken a decent multivitamin which I continue to take, and that’s it for me.

Thanks. I don't think it's correct though, maybe because I am so excessively heavy. You see, it is giving my maintenance calories as 2,500 if I am immobile and 3,000 if sedentary. I've not exceeded 2,000 for the past 7 years but have gained about 8 stone in that time.

OMG, another 4lb, and I'll have lost an elephant penis 🤣🤣🤣. Jeez, I'm so childish, but that really made me chuckle 😃

Nah, I was SO excited to reach the elephants penis milestone! It feels more impressive than a flat screen telly 😂

SilenceInside · 29/08/2025 19:51

I suppose the online calculators can only be a guide and an estimate. If you know that you gain on 2000 cals a day then you could take 500 cals off that and aim for 1500.

Is that for if you want to stay at your current weight? Which obviously you don't.

I have never used TDEE, but I am currently trying to stick to fewer than 1500 cals/day.

I've found, as I've got older, that I need fewer and fewer calories, as my metabolism has really slowed down.

That makes perfect sense.

Also @SecretNameforMN if you're very sedentary, you need to ingest even fewer calories.

I use the Nutracheck app for my calories. It has me at 1350 currently, it's gone down as I've lost weight.

Elephant penis will always make me laugh. I'm an air conditioner and I'll take it.

Dontjumptoconclusions · 29/08/2025 23:43

I've just come home and had the best NSV!!!
I met a friend for dinner, she looked at me and said "wow, I've gotta start exercising". And spent ages saying how fantastic I was doing and that she needs to make more time for prioritising her health like how I am doing and making better choices like me.

What...?!

Like... I am actually inspiring people now?! Me?! The person once a size 28 and 144kg.

I genuinely can't believe it. 😁

Rainbowcat99 · 30/08/2025 06:04

@Dontjumptoconclusionswhat fantastic boost! It’s nice to hear of a friend being complimentary and encouraging. I’ve heard a few stories recently of friends feeling threatened when “The Fat One” in the group begins to change!!
Well done on your success.

Lds1 · 30/08/2025 07:43

Usually those ones who think we're the fat ones don't want to become the fat ones!

Gosh ,really ,that must of been really stressful for you ..is that ozempic you were on first .
I've two pens of monjroro left ,so need to use those up before I make any decisions about a swap

Autumnflowers2 · 30/08/2025 10:01

Has anyone heard of a new weight loss drug
Retatutide ..or something
It's supposed to be even more effective than monjroro
I don't know if it's in the UK yet

SilenceInside · 30/08/2025 10:05

It’s retatrutide and it’s still in clinical trials, not approved in the US or the UK just yet. Perhaps later in 2026 it might be approved and available. There’s a tablet GLP1 called orforglipron which is also in the pipeline, also possibly due in 2026 or 2027.

GnomeDePlume · 30/08/2025 10:07

@SecretNameforMN a tip I was given by my diabetes nurse and which has worked well for me:

When you are plating up (or planning) a meal aim to have 50% of your plate as vegetables, 25% protein item, 25% carb (rice, potatoes, pasta).

How you eat it is important. Eat all the vegetables, then eat the protein item, then eat the carb item but only if you still really want it. I am often finding that after half a plate of vegetables and the protein item I'm not really interested in potato/rice/pasta.

Eating lots of vegetables is great for getting a variety of vitamins and minerals in. They don't need to be fresh, frozen and tinned are fine. Just make sure you are eating a variety.

I will caveat this by saying I am not a dietician but it is working for me!

Newmummy343 · 30/08/2025 10:22

Hi, hope you guys don't mind me joining. I've been reading all the threads back. I've been on this journey since May, I thought it wasn't going to work for me as when I was on the 2.5mg dose I felt nothing but then since 5mg its been working for me. I started at 20.7stone, now at 17.1 stone. I actually have no idea what my goal weight is as it's been so long since I've been 'slim'. Also since having my wee boy my body has totally changed.

I have tried reading the other threads but I am struggling a bit as a lot of there starting weights are less than what im weighing just now. My next mini goal is to get to 16.1 which will see me on the BMI chart at 39.9. Im going on holiday in 3 weeks time though and im quite nervous.

Mum2Fergus · 30/08/2025 10:23

SW (15 Feb 25): 19st 9lbs / BMI 44.4 (obese class 3)
CW: 15st 6lbs / BMI 34.9 (obese class 1)
GW: healthy BMI (between 18.5 and 24.9 (8.3st-11st) for my height) - 4st 6lbs to go to get to top of healthy range.

Wk27 weigh in this morning (wk15 on 5mgs) … stayed the same! Consider my previous whooshing the past 2 weeks I’m still very happy with progress. Placed order this morning, staying at 5mgs, with usual supplier (Boots) so waiting for reply as to stock levels-fingers crossed panic buying isn’t going to impact me negatively.

I’ve lost 21% of my starting weight and averaging 2.2lbs loss per week over the 27 weeks.

Wks 1-4 (2.5mg): -17lbs
Wks 5-8 (2.5mg): -6lbs
Wks 9-12 (2.5mg): -11lbs
Wks 13-16 (5mg): -7lbs
Wks 17-20 (5mg): - 4lbs
Wks 21-24 (5mg): - 7lbs
Wk 25 (5mg): -3lbs
Wk 26 (5mg): -4lbs
Wk 27 (5mg): -0
Total loss: 59lbs

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/08/2025 10:31

Hello @Newmummy343 and welcome!

What you've described is something we have all felt: the starting weight of many of the people on MJ is the goal weight for many of us.

For example, I've lost more than 8st now, and my weight is currently 12st 1lb.

There are countless people who think that being 12st is horrific, and they start out at that weight, aiming to lose 2 - 3st or more.

It takes them four months, and they're done.

We have a much longer journey. Mine has taken 21 months so far. I'm now a size 12. I was a size 24 when I started out.

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/08/2025 10:33

What baffles me (thinking about the monthly threads again) is the commonly held belief that size 12/14 is horrifyingly large.

I don't understand.

OP posts:
PearlsPearl · 30/08/2025 11:25

Oh it annoys me (used to upset me but not anymore) the language size 14 people use on other threads about how disgustingly fat they are. But they need to lose 2 stone. Come on.

But never mind. Everyone's journey is their journey etc or so I tell myself to stop being so judgey! It is annoying though and I have to stop myself calling them out on their language sometimes.

Welcome @Newmummy343 to the best group on here 😍

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/08/2025 11:54

How are you feeling today @PearlsPearl?

OP posts:
Dontjumptoconclusions · 30/08/2025 12:10

@Newmummy343 @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne
Yes it's very strange. I'd like to think that if I was only 2 stone over weight, I probably wouldn't bother with WLI because it's quite an extreme solution for a small loss. Comparable to a gastric band. Clinical trials have also not been tested for such small losses but it's none of my business I guess if they are getting approved.
