Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

@Arglefraster I haven't managed to get any. I didn't plan to order as I have one pen in hand due to using the golden dose but, when my regular provider went out of stock, I panicked and ordered one from Bolt. I still haven't got it.
It was approved over a week ago and showed as "tracking information will show soon" but it switched to "delayed" a couple of days ago so I don't know if I will get it or not now as 1st Sept approaches. A friend ordered the same a couple of hours before me, mine showed as approved first but hers was approved a few hours later and delivered a few days ago.
I'm not panicking yet though because, hopefully, the stock situation will improve in September as all the stockpilers will be using up their hoards so I should get one, although it will be annoying to have to pay more.

I saw an interesting post on TikTok by a clinical pharmacist who is a diabetes specialist. She was expressing concern at pharmacies switching people from MJ to higher doses of Wegovy as the clinical guidance they have always worked to in diabetes advises a washout period then start Wegovy at lowest dose and work upwards so starting higher may lead to more side-effects.

Her simple explanation was that Mounjaro gives the GLP1 receptors a gentle tickle where Wegovy tickles them much harder so has a higher risk of adverse effects. MJ has a larger weight loss effect overall because of the combination with GIP.

It will be interesting to see how it works for people who switch. I wondered if having used MJ would reduce the risk in the same way it does when going up the doses?

Reginaphalangeeeee · 30/08/2025 22:33

Evening all. I am still waiting on SheMed to get back to me about my pen not delivered/lost. Got my golden dose to take tomorrow but have to say I am dreading it a little. All inclusive eating and cocktails have left me feeling full, bloated and uncomfortable anyway. Feel I will need to do a period of fasting to recover. Almost feel ‘done’ with holiday food but something about all inclusive make me want to get my money’s worth 🙄 ridiculous when I feel full.

No scales here so no idea the damage I’ve done. However, I have had NSV.. took some family photos and I didn’t hate how I looked. My children are tween/young teen so growing fast now but every year in pictures I look like a giant next to them. This year I almost look normal sized. Yes plus size still but not so big that I look like I stand out.
my face, neck & chest especially look much thinner & maybe younger too.
yay!

Wow @WeAllHaveWingsthat is incredible!

Respect!

Doireallywanttodothis · 31/08/2025 10:41

Put this on the July starters thread but wanted to share here as well. Seven weeks and 19.5lb down with a looooong way to go but massive NSV this morning. My blood pressure was normal! Was diagnosed with high BP over a year ago and despite increasing doses of meds it has stayed stubbornly high. It started coming down gradually a few weeks ago and this morning it was within the normal range. So happy!

Arglefraster · 31/08/2025 12:18

Oh I'm sorry to hear that Queen are bolt at least communicating with you? (I don't know them)
I do think the switching protocols need looked at pharmacies are financially motivated to say no/little wash out in order to retain customers & limit any order gap ... (& if I was switching I wouldn't be keen to washout & start from scratch either!) tricky if there are no data. (I guess there will be plenty of anec-data soon!)

hurrah for lovely holiday photos regina that lost pen really is insult added to injury 😩

Arglefraster · 31/08/2025 12:19

Oh normal BP is fantastic news @Doireallywanttodothiscongratulations!

AnneinEdinburgh · 31/08/2025 13:09

Fab news @Arglefraster !

Medexpress and lotus have come back having ordered 15mg from them offering me 10mg sigh

WeAllHaveWings · 31/08/2025 15:17

Well done @Doireallywanttodothis a huge NSV. Hopefully you'll be able to come off the meds completely as you progress - I came off mine in April, it is a great feeling.

My medicated 140/90 blood pressure last year is an unmedicated 101/69 this morning!

Keep up the good work!

Zebracat · 31/08/2025 15:31

NSV here. Got my winter clothes down from the loft. In the course of the changeover I came across the gorgeous dress I bought from Whistles and kept despite being too small because I thought I could diet into it in time for my daughter’s wedding.
well I didn’t but here I am 4 years on and it fits🫶🏻so pleased . The question is will it still fit next April when my son gets married?

MabelSpan · 31/08/2025 15:50

@Doireallywanttodothis Fab news on your BP! Mine also went for unmedicated high to normal thanks to MJ and probably losing weight 😊

@Zebracat So good that you kept the dress and great news fits! Bad news, it could well be too big for you soon😉

Evenstar · 31/08/2025 16:18

@Zebracat you could always find someone to do alterations on it nearer the time, I think I will do that with a few of my more expensive clothes when I get to the point where I don’t want to lose more.

gimmemounjaro · 31/08/2025 16:43

I’ve fetched my autumn/winter clothes down from the loft today too, as well as my too small pile. Nearly all of the too small pile fits (and what doesn’t never will so can go) but I’m sorry to lose some lovely cords and jumpers that are too big for me now. Oh well, Vinted here I come!

I’ve just bought a lovely plum wool coat from there and some new slippers. Just need some brown boots and maybe a couple of scarves and I think I’m all set for winter.

QueenOfHiraeth · 31/08/2025 17:09

@Zebracat This is going back years now but I bought a beautiful, traditional, stupidly expensive MOTB outfit for DD1's wedding then the plans changed dramatically and, by that point it was too late to return it so it went into the wardrobe.
When DS1 was getting married, some while later, I was a couple of stone lighter so looked everywhere for an outfit and found nothing. When I was just about to panic I got the first outfit out, still loved it, so took it for alterations and wore it! If you find a good seamstress they can do wonders so you may be able to wear it even if it is too big by then.

That’s amazing that you could come off them completely and are now normotensive. Goals!

MooBaggage · 01/09/2025 09:41

I had another heavy weekend away this weekend - it was lovely, celebrating a friend's 50th at a fancy schmancy hotel - but the scales are showing 1lb on this morning..!

I did eat/drink more than usual, but think it's water retention rather than Actual Fat, so here we go again with drinking a ton of water and hoping I get back to where I was by tomorrow... 🙄

I'm heading into week 3 with no actual loss though - neeeeeeed the scales to move downwards soon - although clothes are fitting really comfortably and I lost 1 inch from everywhere in August, so am not too stressed (yet!).

I'm starting a new 7.5mg pen today, but ordered another one this morning from Ashcroft Pharmacy, who have increased their prices, but a 7.5mg pen was 'only' £216, which was better than IQ Doctor who were going to charge me £250 🙄 I'm telling myself I just have to get used to the cost starting with a £2 instead of £1....

Here's hoping we all have a good week ahead - Happy September! 😃

@MooBaggage Hey Twinny! Another inch off is fantastic, well done. Ignore the scales, silly things, it will all balance out in time. Sounds like you had a fab weekend, which is much more important!😊

MabelSpan · 01/09/2025 11:38

Hello folks, I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Today is weigh and jab day 55. I am on wk3 at 4.5mg, very slowly working my way as low as I can go whilst maintaining losses and the silencing of food noise.

I am over the moon to see the 13st bracket again, I last saw it in 2002!

SW - 20st 3lbs Aug 24
CW - 13st 13.2lbs Sept 24
WL - 3.4lbs
I thought I wouldnt lose this week so was gobsmacked to see this loss.
Ave wkly loss for year 2 starting 11th Aug 25 is -1.02lbs
Ave wkly loss from start Aug 24 is -1.6lbs

Daily cals last week ave 1647.
Ave daily cals over last 4wks 1723.

Thinking ahead, I used to be quite happy between 12st 7lbs and 13st which meant I was a size 16, but thanks to age and perimeno I think I will need to drop to between 12st and 11st 7lbs to be that size again, possibly lower.
Time will tell.

Have a great week all 😊

GiveMeWordGames · 01/09/2025 12:01

Losing an inch all over in august is a great NSV, @MooBaggage And excellent loss @MabelSpan and what a fantastic achievement over he whole year. Lovely to hear about all the happy blood pressure readings from people too.

It's shocking what boozing does in terms of the scales, isn't it? The morning after my little bank holiday blow out last Monday I was startled by what I read the next morning when I stepped on.

Anyway, it mostly went away again by the end of the week but I'm at a lower than average 1.25lb loss this week, and I fully blame the sauv blanc. 😬

Jab day! Just finished my second 7.5 pen, got another one waiting to go and then two 10s.

SW 17st 4
CW 13st 10.5
GW 11-12st

So after 23 weeks I've lost just over 3 and 1/2 stone.

Here's to a wonderful Autumn for us all, filled with whooshes and NSVs galore!😊

MabelSpan · 01/09/2025 12:45

@GiveMeWordGames Thanks very much! A loss is a loss, they all count. You are doing really well and slow and steady is the best way, frustrating as it can be, your skin and hair will thank you😊

MooBaggage · 02/09/2025 06:10

Hurrah! Another pesky lb off 😀

SW 13.1.25 20st 3lbs BMI 43
CW 2.9.25 15st 7lbs BMI 32.9

A nice number of 66lbs lost now - next stop 5 stone, with 4lbs to go (hopefully by the end of September!).

Onwards and downwards everyone - drinking 3 x litres of water a day seems to be the way to go... #aquatic

Well done @MooBaggage and @MabelSpanand fantastic update @WeAllHaveWings

My 1 year anniversary on MJ is coming up on Friday, hard to believe a year has passed already feels like I just blinked and missed it.

MooBaggage · 02/09/2025 07:52

@InfoSecInTheCity I was thinking of you just now (in a non-stalky way!) - doing my 10 x coffee squats (that's 20 today so far and it's not even 8am 🙄) - are you still doing them?!

😇

I am yes although not noticing a huge improvement to the state of my flat as a pancake ass, but my hips and thighs are definitely looser and less creaky since upping movement in general.

Went to a spa on Saturday for a massage and facial, it was a deep tissue massage because my shoulders are like concrete due to all the twazzocks at work. Felt very very bruised! Facial was delightful but I think I blacked out for a minute when she told me the moisturiser was £98 a pot.

Zebracat · 02/09/2025 08:41

Was it Elemis marine @InfoSecInTheCity ? I fell for it and it made me use less and consequently be more dry and wrinkly . Buy cheap, use loads is the way to go!
Im pushing myself a bit this week from a very slipped place, got to make it worth it. I’m tantalisingly close to 3 stone lost, about a pound to go , I think( generally weigh in kilograms). 4 kilos takes me to overweight. I want to get there before we go on holiday at the end of this month. Dh thinks I’m delusional.
