Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Thank you all. I appreciate knowing you are all here.

It is lovely being on holiday, but just wish there was something I could do to secure a pen for my return. Goodness knows I will need it. Hoping the damage to the scales won’t be horrendous. Now that I have tried everything, my meal sizes are small to moderate with healthy veg and meats/fish. It’s just tasting desserts and cocktails that are the risk.

Anyone know what the cheapest will be for 10mg??

NewbieMJ · 29/08/2025 19:26

Thanks for the new thread which I have been keeping up with.

Just popped on to say that credit where credit is due - MedExpress wrote (when everything went mad re price increases news) to offer me an early order given the intended price hikes, which I ordered (ordered 15mg to make the most of it and eek it out (I am on 12.5 at the moment)). Kept getting the usual "we are behind with deliveries, experiencing delays", etc, but suddenly it has been approved, dispatched and got delivered today (a day earlier than they said!)

They have also sent in their main blurb an e-mail to say they are listening to feedback from their loyal customers to reward them for staying loyal kind of thing...I should bloody well think so - been with them for a year (next week my 1 year anniversary, eek) and rarely get a code that works, so paid full whack the whole way through. [I admit, I do like the ease and convenience of MedExpress and love that they use Royal Mail which is the best service in my area].

Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted re any developments. Their pricing was £299 for 15mg from 1st Sept, so fairly extortionate.

Will check back in next week with my annual results😍

And @MooBaggage - it is 100% the Biotin that is making your hair grow. So delighted you discovered it.

I’ve had a few emails from suppliers and prices seem to be all over the place for the higher doses. It’ll be interesting to see what discount codes pop up, as I suspect most people will be keeping a closer eye on whether they’re getting the right price. I’ve been using the comparison website and changing supplier for most pens.

@Reginaphalangeeeee there should be a prescription sticker on the box of your pen - that is proof for changing supplier.

Thank you @OnwardsDownwardsbut last pen lost by post. Hopefully issue before will be ok?

They’ll need proof that you’ve had the previous dosage, in a reasonable timeframe, so that sounds fine to me.

Morning all! Still plodding along here

My situation is that I can't get above 3.75mg. Any time I've tried to step up to 5mg my mood had taken a nose dive. I've been lucky enough not to suffer from any MH issues (apart from when pregnant and these disappeared as soon as DS was born) But anytime I've taken 5mg i just feel completely flat and numb like the joy is completely sucked out of my life. Dramatic much!

3.75mg means I do lose but it's extremely slow, just under 3 stone since January but no side effects. Not massive supression but definitely less food noise. Able to eat 3 meals per day and not snack apart from odd treat at the weekend. I exercise 3 times per week which I really enjoy so maybe this is just the way it is for me

Bit frustrating though to be stuck in the slow lane......

MooBaggage · 30/08/2025 09:01

Another no loss week for me this week 🙄

I'm not sure why my body has settled into an every other week loss/maintain pattern - it's very annoying! But overall am losing between 4lb - 6lb a month, so need to keep the faith and not stress when it's been a week with no movement.

Just weird that my eating is completely consistent these days, but the loss isn't 🤔

InfoSecInTheCity · 30/08/2025 09:07

@Carolwithanehave you considered supplements and diet adjustments to see if they can give a boost to your 3.75mg?

I take psyllium husk for added fibre which also helps with that feeling of satiety.

i drink at least 2lts water a day which does boost weight loss, i notice the weeks I slip I don’t lose weight.

not sure what macros youre eating but reducing carbs and increasing protein and fats will boost the insulin stabilisation that MJ causes.

myoinsotol has also shown some good results with PCOS, peri and menopausal women at supporting hormone levels which can help with weight. Not sure if that’s applicable for you but worth mentioning.

Welcome to my world!

MJ turned me from Tigger to Eeyore at 5mg.
After it happened I dropped back to 3.75mg, tried to go up again and was hit with the low mood once more. It was awful.
Since then I have only increased by 2 clicks at a time, (this makes it much easier to extract your extra doses by keeping the clicks/mls in even numbers).
I went as high as 4.83mg 58 clicks, then dropped back to 4.75mg 56 clicks, and then I thought sod it, I have never really had supression, like you I eat normal portions, and count all cals.
The good thing is food noise has been silenced completely and as long as the food noise doesnt return and I continue to lose then I will reduce my dose as much as a I can.
So now I am on 4.5mg 54clicks. No food noise and still losing. I will stay here a while, then probably drop again and again if only out of curiosity to see how low I can go.

Despite the awful low mood and joy having been sucked from my life, I feel really lucky to be able to stay on such a low dose.
I lost 6 stone in a year and have 3st to go, whilst weight loss does really slow and remember it does for everyone, even on the higher doses, it is much better to lose weight slowly and eat properly. Yes, I have some loose skin, but its not as bad as it could be and I am pretty confident that it will sort itself over the next 2-3 yrs.
I expect these final 3 stone to take up to a year to go, and thats fine with me.

Hang in there, keep on keeping on and you will get to where you want to be.

Good luck🙂

MabelSpan · 30/08/2025 09:28

@MooBaggage Your losses are spot on, yes its frustrating that weight loss isnt linear but it just isnt.
Whilst we might decide to weigh daily, weekly or monthly, our body doesnt share our love of tick boxes and routines, it simply does its own thing, in its own sweet time, regardless of how much we protest!

You are doing really well, all you need to do is carry on the good work and the results will come.

A bonus of my Eeyore like state is that I dont really care on an emotional level, what the scales say, I just see it, log it and move on. Where as when I was more Tigger like I would feel all the highs and bounce around with joy at every oz off!

I am staring to think maybe being Eeyore isnt so bad after all, now he is a bit brighter than he once was 😀

gimmemounjaro · 30/08/2025 09:35

That happened to me too @MooBaggage, I trundled along nicely for months and then suddenly it was as if my body was desperately clinging on to every pound. It did pass eventually. I thought of it as maybe a resetting of the set point, if I just kept going I could persuade my body to start losing more consistently again and it did. This is potentially a big moment and a test of your resolve so stay calm and steady 💪

Weigh day for me after three weeks of maintenance and last week’s gain of 2.6lbs. I have lost that and a little more, now a couple of pounds below my maintenance start weight. Early days but so far so good, I have reduced from 10mg to 7.5mg with no trouble, planning to stay on 7.5mg for another couple of weeks before starting to reduce further.

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 153.8 / 11st / BMI 22.7
GW: remain in the 150s

This week -3.3 lbs
Total loss 87.4 lbs / 6st 3

I am actually 10st something! Unbelievable. It’s been 3 months since I last broke into a new stone so v exciting 🥳

NSV is that life is extremely stressful at the moment, overwhelming at times and will be like this for a good few months. But for the first time ever I’m not trying to eat my way out of those feelings. (I can’t deny I’d bloody love a cigarette though 😬)

Darlinghag · 30/08/2025 11:22

My mounjaro is here! Woop woop! I really did think Asda would cancel on me at more than one point. While I wasn’t close to being without, purely through my split dosing and pay day ordering, with the delays, this took me to my normal ordering window, and i was a bit antsy about a package of that value not showing up!

for this reason i probably won’t order a multiple pen pack again unless its gives a good discount! 😂😂

MabelSpan · 30/08/2025 11:24

So glad you got your order @Darlinghag 😊

MabelSpan · 30/08/2025 11:26

@gimmemounjaro Congrats on seeing 10s and for not eating or smoking your feelings away! All fab nsvs!😊

I’ve been like this for months too Moo

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 30/08/2025 13:26

Glad your pens have arrived @Darlinghag My second single pen order has arrived today, so that’s the three Asda allowed me to request in advance of the price rises. I’m just hoping the current price rises soften a bit by the time I need to decide whether or not to continue on MJ. I won’t be able to justify £250 or more a month.

Zebracat · 30/08/2025 14:12

Sorry to hear about the low moods. I feel great mentally on MJ- balanced and even, less bothered by petty difficulties. Weight loss has slowed though , less than 2 kilos in August, partly just because it does, and partly because I have got a bit sloppier. But I can’t afford to be sloppy at £279.00 a month, so when I next jab, I’m going up to 10 mg and I’m going to try really hard to keep it tight . I had even lost track of my injection day so this could be tricky!
i started in late April. 106.6 currently 89.1.
Next target 84 kilos to be overweight not obese.

WeAllHaveWings · 30/08/2025 14:17

Saturday weigh in and a nice 2lb loss, taking me to a total loss of 120lbs and 40% of body weight 😲😁

End of week - 62 (5 x 2.5mg, 53 x 3.75mg, 4 x 3.08mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 12st 11lbs BMI 26.8

Losses (24H2) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)
Losses (25H1) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0 (avg 1.6)
Losses (25H2) - 1,2,1,3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2 (avg 1.2)
(excluding first week outlier)

Total loss - 8st 08lbs (120lbs), 40.1%
Next Target 🎯- 11st 12lbs BMI 24.9 healthy!

My trial of reducing from 3.75mg to 3.08mg (mid way between 3.75mg and 2.5mg), after 4 weeks to allow it to level off, doesn't seem to have had any noticeable difference to food noise/cravings (I've not had suppression for most of the last year) so that is good. A bonus is I can get 6 doses out the pen (6th dose on day 35 which I am ok with) before it locks so no more messing about with syringes for Mounjaro (syringes just for B12 now).

I plan to stick with 3.08mg for maybe another 8 weeks, then will try 2.5mg. I don't want to drop too low and find I need to increase as then it brings in the complications of increasing while on oral HRT.

@gimmemounjaro must be great seeing 10 on the scales again! Well done! 🎉

@MooBaggage you are doing great! 4-6lbs a month consistently is going to get you there! 👏

@Darlinghag glad you got your order! 👍

@MabelSpan @Carolwithane I have done the last year without suppression. If you, I know it is not possible for everyone, can do it with food noise gone and don't have to rely on ongoing suppression I think it will have long term benefits (not to mention save you a fortune with the new prices!) It is worth trying and seeing how it works for you, for me some weeks the food noise does dial up again and I can usually pinpoint why (protein and water!), but the following week it drops back down again.

@Reginaphalangeeeee that is dreadful behaviour from Shemed trying to shift you to Wegovy and implying "clinical" reasons. Hope it didn't put too much of a damper on your holiday and you get a pen sorted out 💗

Well done everyone for continuing to make progress - whether up/down, staying the same this week, or maintaining, we are all still here and moving forward. Especially with the stress of the last couple of weeks and the cruel pricing hikes, we all will hopefully somehow work this out. 💗💗💗

MabelSpan · 30/08/2025 14:24

@WeAllHaveWings Congratulations on your absolutely incredible losses! And how neat and tidy to have a fab 2lb loss this week to take you to total of 120lbs lost, I love it when that happens 😊
I completely agree about keeping doses as low as possible and not chasing supression. I have never really had it, maybe a little bit in the beginning, but nothing of note. It is the silencing of the food noise that has been the magical ingredient for me. I always knew my weight gain was due to my head, not my belly.
So, yes, I shall be going as low as I can for as long as the food noise remains silent.😊

gimmemounjaro · 30/08/2025 15:10

@WeAllHaveWings
That is sensational, congrats on 120lbs 🙌🙌🙌

gimmemounjaro · 30/08/2025 19:42

Well I just tried again to order from Simple Online Pharmacy, more in hope than expectation because they keep telling me I am ordering too early and more than I am allowed, even though I am asking for one pen more than 2 weeks after the last one. Tried and failed to order this morning but this evening it worked, so I have saved myself £40 by sneaking in before Monday 🥳

SOP have reduced prices for the first couple of weeks of September btw - £25 off MJ for 14 days while stocks last, and £20 off Wegovy until 18th.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 30/08/2025 21:07

Wow @WeAllHaveWings 120lbs and 40% weight lost is amazing 👏

Arglefraster · 30/08/2025 21:31

Urgh sorry to hear MJ is giving people an Eeyore effect that's so hard. I feel very fortunate that the only MH effect it has for me is to shut my brain up a (wee) bit.

@WeAllHaveWingsthat is just gobsmackingly amazing 🎉 you absolute bloody trooper!

very glad people have been able to get pens. Is it just @Reginaphalangeeeeewho is still stuck? Bloody Shemed should be ashamed of themselves I hope you find a solution that suits you.

I love reading the losses on here, I'm in (another) go slow but I'm getting smaller (jeans I haven't worn in 15 years are slipping off me a couple of months after realising they fit !). I am sure I am at another set point & a strong one at that because I remember always pinging back to this point any time I got tantalising close to 100kg but I've decided that ABW I'll be shelling out for MJ for at least another couple of years so slow & steady is ok (until I get exasperated at the scales once again 😳)
