Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Showing my age a bit now but to coin the Backstreet Boys 'Oh my God we're back again'

The allodynia in my left thigh is hurty and annoying. Now beginning to spread to my right leg so I have the horrible feeling its my autoimmune disease progressing. FML.
On other news it would turn out that my digestion is also going tits up. Eating fish gives me foul tasting burps. Eating high fat food is a similarly bad idea. As someone who doesn't eat meat but does eat fish and cheese my menu options are deal with it or starve. I generally dont eat fake meat and cant eat quorn (I'm severely allergic to it). Good job I dont mind eating various vegetables! Anyone else found that what they can eat has changed hugely since starting MJ?

QueenOfHiraeth · 22/08/2025 21:03

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I am saying "let it go" to myself more than Elsa does in Frozen when I see the smug stockpilers as I don't want to derail the calm and supportive thread with explosive bile Grin
Before I retired I had to deal with refrigerated medication, vaccines, etc on a daily basis and we had to have fridge insurance to cover us for power cuts, breakdowns, etc. I suspect some people have stock that would rival the value of an average surgery fridge, having seen posts about people having 12 months supply.

@alltablenochairs Would reducing dose be an option? Do you think that might reduce your side-effects and allow you to eat more?
Sorry to hear about your allodynia. Autoimmune illness is horrid

@Slowrunning thank you so much ,I tried a new needle and it worked!!
I already ordered a new pen as I thought it was done for. Didn't think of asking on here until I was ready to post it back. So now I've got an extra pen.
I'm rather pleased with that,so thank you again!

Yipeee - glad it worked for you 🥳

HumBumBum · 22/08/2025 21:21

Hi all, checking in with the new thread and a NSV - I bought a bra (thank you Vinted) that is NOT a Minimiser!!

My stats haven’t moved for a while, I definitely comfort ate last weekend with the stress of the price rises but back to normal now I managed to get a deliver. Hoping to put another order in to take me up to Chrismas which hopefully will be enough to get me to target/maintenance.

Seahorsesplendour · 22/08/2025 21:33

@EternalFatalist just an fyi my asda order was approved on wed and I had that email too so waited in yesterday morning!

It didn’t come but this morning I had emsil giving me a 2 hour slot for today & it came then so don’t panic if it doesn’t arrive tomorrow!

taylorswift1989 · 22/08/2025 22:00

Just checking in. Not always the best at keeping up, but appreciate you all!

Darlinghag · 22/08/2025 22:48

@Sam187 @EternalFatalist glad to hear some of the Asda crew are getting approved!

No movement here, but my pens were 12.5mg and 15mg so I do wonder if they are working through stock based on dose maybe? I ordered Friday at 12ish, so it maybe that I am due soon.

Keeping my fingers crossed it arrives any day except Wednesday - my driver might leave it in the garden as he is quite friendly but would rather not risk it!!

Arglefraster · 22/08/2025 23:51

Thanks @RobinEllacotStrike the not wanting to be seen is actually from a whole other childhood trauma 🙈🤣 mixed in with the usual "men started treating me unlike the 12yr old child I was" thing. I spent the day with my hilarious charming & smart aunt who is in her mid 80s I have no worries about aging she is amazing😍

Thanks for the new thread @MooBaggage I'm hoping for a calmer (albeit more expensive) time now.

Schnooka · 23/08/2025 01:29

👋

gimmemounjaro · 23/08/2025 04:50

Just checking in, thanks for the new thread. Staying with the parents at the moment and it’s not easy to eat well here, so heaven knows what the scales will say on Monday 😬

I was lucky that my regular order date was just before the hoo hah so not affected yet by that, except I was planning to move to Swift for maintenance and they are only prescribing to existing customers. I have had emails back and forth with them but hadn’t ordered. I guess it will be September now before I can switch, just hoping their prices don’t go up too much 🤞

Have always been with Medexpress as they were just easy. Not the cheapest but it worked for me. I’m on 12.5mg and the new prices for a pen is pushing it as far as affordability goes. I’ve just ordered my last pen at current prices as it wouldn’t let me do it before today.

Not sure what I’m going to do going forward.

This drug has literally changed my life.

I felt confident enough to start applying for new jobs and the first role I interviewed for a got offered!! I’d been in my old job for 10 years part time and hated it. Kids are older now so have now gone full time. I’ve just finished my first week!

I’ve bought a couple of dresses off of Vinted and I’m now somewhere between a 18 and 16 which is amazing.

I need to buy some new trainers for my walking. I’ve historically worn new balance 880s or 860s but they’re about £150 which is insane. What does everyone else wear?

MooBaggage · 23/08/2025 07:27

@CanIGoHomeNowPlease Congratulations on the new job!! Loving that you had the confidence to go for it 🥰🥰🥰

And your loss so far is brilliant - we must have started within a couple of weeks of each other and more or less the same SW 😊. Funnily enough, one of my secret targets (my initial end target was 13st 10lbs which takes me to 'overweight' and my mind still won't let me seriously consider anything beyond this!) Is 12 st 7lbs, as that was the first weight I was when I was told to go to WW by my Mum as a teen 🙄.

MJ is indeed life changing - onwards and downwards 😊

@CanIGoHomeNowPlease congratulations on the job!

I wear Hoka trainers for everyday/walking. They do a wide fit which I need. Their RRP is around £150 but they’re easy to find for under £100 if you look around. Still not cheap but I’ve found them brilliant.

Ditsy79 · 23/08/2025 08:19

Checking in on the new thread. Currently on holiday in France, no access to scales so will assess the damage when I'm home. Trying to keep roughly on plan, definitely doing more exercise here than at home.

@CanIGoHomeNowPlease so glad it's given you such confidence. Well done on both your amazing loss and your new job. You must feel like a new woman ❤️

I wear NB fresh foam Arishis for walking. Love them. Depending on your size, I'm a 4.5/5, I just got a new pair in a lovely colour way for £60.

Wellfuckme · 23/08/2025 09:12

Just joining if that's OK. Only had 2 injections so far, SW 18st8lb, CW 18st4lb. Size 22. Some bad injedigestion so far so back on tablets but hopefully this will pass.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 23/08/2025 10:23

Welcome @Wellfuckme. I can highly recommend taking a daily probiotic with digestive enzymes to address gastric side effects.

Cottage cheese klaxon: I need to share my breakfast with you all. Longley Farm mixed with finely diced red onion, green pepper, chillies and coriander, piled on toast and air-fried. Very very good!

GiveMeWordGames · 23/08/2025 10:30

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping that sounds utterly delicious, although possibly more of a lunch option for me.

The Longley cottage cheese thing is funny - I bought it right when I started purely because it's the only UK made cottage cheese I could find on Ocado. I only then found out it's a MN MJ cult item. 😅 It IS good though. I bought Sainsbury's own brand once and remembered why I don't normally like the stuff much.

Hello and welcome, @Wellfuckme !

@Wellfuckme welcome ☺️ close to my starting weight, I was 18st 12.5lbs. 12 weeks in now. Hope the indigestion passes and the SEs are minimal!

Good morning. I just got confirmation that my Asda order is being delivered around noon today, so I must have lucked out. Phew!

I'm meeting up with a couple of my girlfriends today, and am wearing a figure skimming (small size 10!) pink dress with a short cardi - so different to my previous long, dark layers, trying to hide myself. I am feeling so much better in every sense these days. 😊

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I love how enthusiastic you all are about cottage cheese, I just can't get on board. It reminds me a vom 🤣. I've never actually tasted it, but the texture gives me the fear. I'm sure your breakfast was delicious mind you ☺️

MooBaggage · 23/08/2025 10:50

👋@Wellfuckme 😊

If I'm indigestion-y I sometimes have a protein shake, which helps calm it down - plus I'm on omeprazole anyway for a haitus hernia - you can buy Nexium over the counter, which is expensive but brilliant if it's really bad.

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping oh no🫠, I'm sorry. Was obviously thinking out loud 🙈

MooBaggage · 23/08/2025 11:57

I am still ridiculously pleased with my Vinted Joe Browns trousers that are now lovely and comfy - they're the silliest trousers I've ever worn and I'm off to see my Mum this afternoon, who will think they are awful 💪😃
