Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Should say my figures because I hate it when people don’t.
25.04.2025 106.6 kg
02.09.2025. 88.4 kg

Well done @WeAllHaveWings and @MabelSpan and others. Your posts are so inspiring.

It is my 1 year anniversary on MJ today and the scales have moved (was plateauing again!) to get me to a nice 5 and a half stone weight loss. I think, like others, my body was determined that this was it's set point, but on I plodded and a woosh is feeling like it is coming, so hoorah for that.

SW (2nd Sept 24): 18 stone 11
CW: 13 stone 4
GW: 10 stone 11

So, 5.5 stone down, 2.5 to go!

Here are some of my highlights of weighing so much less than last year:

I can finally believe I will be slim, healthy and an "ordinary" weight and size
I will not be obese for the first time in my adult life
I will be fitter than I have been in years
Stairs, walking any length, general movement (getting up and down from the floor, etc), no longer causes pain or being out of breath
My skin, hair and nails grow at a ridiculous rate and people say I am "glowing"
I can buy standard fit shoes, boots and sandals
I have re-established a great relationship with tights
I can buy any piece of clothing from any shop.
I love my way of eating
I love swimming and actually crave it now
I love that I don't drink alcohol and never will again

For anyone starting off on their journey, I hope you can see that a year on, life can feel a whole lot better. I have had my fair share of plateaus and my weight loss has been very slow compared to many. I don't really like exercise and never have, but I do love swimming and felt confident enough to get back in the pool in the spring. I don't have suppression (never have) but MJ has given me the edge to keep going and here I am.

Attaching my chart from Carb Manager. I generally only record the losses (a tip I got from here), but there are two obvious gains/long STS which are holiday times.

Thank you for this wonderful thread which has been my number 1 inspiration for this past year.

Keep going lovely losers!

@Zebracat yes the Elemis range, the cleansing balm and marine collagen moisturiser. I did not buy them I just couldn’t convince my purse to open at that price. I did go to Boots afterwards and asked them very nicely to fill me up a sample pot of each which they did so I have a few days worth to see if I like it. I’m going to the US next month so it might go on my Duty Free shopping list we’ll see,

MooBaggage · 02/09/2025 10:30

Happy anniversary, @NewbieMJ !! 😃😍 A brilliant achievement over the year and I love all your pluses 🙂What a difference a year makes!

I also love your graph - will try and post mine later. My system now, is that I weigh myself most days, but only record the losses because I know the pesky gains are just water retention blips these days and I refuse to acknowledge them formally! Then I record on a chart twice a month and record the lowest weight I've been to date at that point. Some may say that this is cheating, but I've found it keeps me positive and focused because if I've been 1lb higher, I'll record the lower weight and then am determined to see it again on the scales asap! Overall, this works for me and keeps me optimistic and positive.

If I was ever to properly go back to my bad habits and consistently start putting on weight, that would be a different matter re: recording weight, but I am so hopeful now that those days have finally all gone, at the grand old age of 56 - I am no longer chained to sugar and alcohol cravings 💪

@Zebracat well done on your loss!

@NewbieMJ Happy Anniversary and congratulations on a 5 and a half stone loss, that is incredible!
I love all your highlights and should have a think of some myself. And your graph is fab! Thanks for sharing it all with us, its all very inspiring 😊

@InfoSecInTheCity @MooBaggage Someone told me that the secret to a bubble bum is to clench and hold your butt muscles for 5 seconds at the top of each squat. Can't verify that as I keep forgetting to do them since I got my boiling water tap!
@NewbieMJ You'll have to change your name to OldHandMJ at this rate, well done!

MabelSpan · 02/09/2025 11:35

I am not sure what the opposite of an NSV is... I am wearing shorts, have been all summer, but twice today, when I have gone to sit down my inner thighs have farted, and not quietly! 😂😳😂

HumBumBum · 02/09/2025 11:49

Elemis? Always discount on their website 20% off, sometimes more, AND you can buy for a lot less on eBay/Vinted especially sample sizes that have been in advent calendars.

@NewbieMJ happy anni and well done 🎉. I started close to your SW, 18st 12.3lbs. Love seeing your progress over the year. I'd love it to be me next time next year.

W14 D1 for me and 31.3lbs off so far (14.2kg).

Noticing more significant hair loss this last couple of weeks. Can someone recommend a good collagen/biotin? @MooBaggage I think I seen you mention some before?

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 02/09/2025 13:46

Happy anniversary@NewbieMJ! Your list is brilliant. Really motivating and you must feel like a totally different woman.

Your starting weight is almost identical to mine, but you’re six months ahead of me. I f I can tick off a similar list to yours when I hit one year, I’ll be delighted.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 02/09/2025 13:48

I’ve started using Nutrition Geeks collagen and biotin @Sam187 - only a few weeks in and am still losing hair at the moment. Am hoping to see a difference soon.

MooBaggage · 02/09/2025 15:31

@Sam187 I'm using Nutrition Geeks Biotin (and collagen and creatine!). I've definitely noticed a difference to my hair loss since starting on the Biotin ptobably about a month ago - took a few weeks but I've just re-ordered it because I think it's that that's made the difference.

OP posts:
Sam187 · 02/09/2025 19:14

Thank you @ANutAsBigAsABoulder and @MooBaggage just did a nutrition geek order. Got collagen, biotin, magnesium and Vit D3/K2... Hopefully this sorts me out and saves my hair 🙏🏼... My OH has creatine, might need to dip into his haha!

UnimaginableWindBird · 02/09/2025 19:21

@Sam187 that is exactly what I get from Nutritional Geeks, too. I left it too long to reorder and am now out of magnesium and really notice the difference.

@UnimaginableWindBird aw that's good, glad to hear it's been working for you then. Hope you get some magnesium soon ☺️

MooBaggage · 03/09/2025 09:57

Another 1lb off today - as anticipated, this week is the week I lose weight 🙄😃 Definitely not complaining though, after a couple of weeks of nothing, that's 3lbs in 4 days (remind me of this next week/week after when I'm moaning about having a mini-stall!).

NSV - I have now removed size 20 from my Vinted size preferences - am firmly in size 18s for tops (just!) and bottoms (comfortably) - hurrah!

I found my pair of winter 'snow' trousers yesterday, whilst having another clothes assessment/clear out, that I had to buy last year when I went to Norway with my Mum - they're size 26 and look like one of those adverts where you hold the trousers up and can get all of you in one leg - it was quite a weird moment, because I remember those trousers fitting really well (March 2024). Bonkers. Am keeping them as a reminder... Everything else from last year has gone now, so I just have a mix of Vinted size 22/20/18s at the moment.

Not going anywhere near size 16s yet - aiming for Christmas for that!! 😊

Not posted for a while as I've been in hospital with pneumonia, lots better now though and managed to lose 2kg just sat in bed!!
Sw-121kg
Cw-97kg
Gw-75kg
Still got a long way to go but I'm getting there.
Well done to all the losers and if you've stayed the same don't worry you'll lose again I've had 2 platues for a month at a time!!
Nsv- I now have to pull all my pants up to my boobs,I don't want to buy new just yet as I have more to loose. Had a few near misses of my pants actually falling down but managed to pull them up quickly before I exposed myself!!

MooBaggage · 03/09/2025 10:02

@Amarajean So sorry you've been poorly - are you back home now? That must have been scary 😞

Well done on the weight loss though - amazing stats! You've reminded me I do still have a few pairs of size 24 knickers and can also cover my boobs with them now! 😃 I did buy a packet of George size 18 knickers, which are cheap and cheerful - they're lovely and comfy and less likely to make dp howl with laughter when I put them on 😀

OP posts:
MabelSpan · 03/09/2025 10:16

@Amarajean Glad you are feeling better now, must have been a scary time for you. I had a similar knicker experience whilst reaching up to pick plums, thankfully my neighbour was out!

@MooBaggage You are positively melting the fat off! Well done and yep, we will remind you of this next week😉

Talking of clothes, I went into the loft yesterday and pulled down several bags of stuff.
I am over the moon, Tigger was momentarily back in the building as I found my dads coat and cardigan that I pinched from him back in my early 20s. He died when I was 23. I used to wear them all the time, until of course the no longer fitted. I couldnt believe it when I tried them on and they fitted me like a glove, I had a little cry.
I also found my wax jacket that was a birthday present from my mum and her husband in my late teens/early 20s and that fitted too! In fact everything fitted me, including a jumper that I adored but never wore for some reason, it cost me about £30 from a boutique in Henley, a lot of money to me at the time, again I would have been late teens early 20s, I used to go past the shop on the bus and fell in love with it, saved up and eventually bought it. And now it fits me perfectly, still looks brand new despite being in a vac pack bag in my filthy loft for 19yrs!

All of this is very strange as I am still wearing size 20/22 clothes, apart from some new summer dresses that are an 18. But when I tried these old clothes on I was shocked that they fitted and how much smaller I looked in them.

Maybe I need to stop wearing leggings and shorts and baggy tops? Maybe its time to start embracing my smaller size...not sure I am ready for that yet.

MooBaggage · 03/09/2025 10:25

Awwww @MabelSpan that is so lovely 💜💜 I'm so glad you had a Tigger moment and a happy cry - it's very well deserved and yes, you absolutely should get out of the baggy clothes and show off your body!

After all the years and years all of us on this thread have had of hiding away/feeling somehow not good enough, this is the time to get out there - even if we have to fake it until we make it sometimes...!

Onwards, downwards and being 💪in the smaller clothes 😃

OP posts:
OnwardsDownwards · 03/09/2025 10:30

Well I ate loads of rubbish for three days, gingerly stepped back on the scales expecting the worst, and I’ve lost 3lb, finally getting to a comfortable 3st down, having been stuck at not quite there for three weeks! Bodies are weird things… That’s 33% of my target, which feels like a milestone!

Upped my dose to 9mg, as 7.5 wasn’t working for me. Starting to have more of an effect, thank goodness!

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/09/2025 11:38

Been experimenting with new styles and colours of clothing. Side by side of this year against last year, Ignore the state of my daughters room, she's the only one with a full length mirror, she also owns all the make up in the whole wide world and keeps it spread across the desk she doesn't use to do homework 😜
