Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Weigh day for me after 10 weeks of maintenance:

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 154.7 / 11st 1 / BMI 22.8
GW: remain in 150s

Ticking along, now down to 6.5mg and will stay here for a couple more weeks. I have eaten out twice this week and showed DS how to make chocolate fridge cake - obvs quality control was needed. So a couple of pounds went on and then came off again. I’m panicking slightly less now at these little gains. It just feels like my body doesn’t want to keep hold of any extra, whereas before it didn’t want to let it go. It’s quite bizarre this easy come, easy go thing, instead of constantly battling. I still get moments of overeating, eating when I’m not hungry or not stopping when I’m full, it can still feel a little bit bingey and out of control at times. That used to feel like failure but I don’t think I’ll ever be completely free from it so now learning to accept it as normal and just move on to the next good decision.

Happy weekends to everyone, love catching up with this thread and all the NSVs and great advice and encouragement 💪

@UnimaginableWindBird lots of good suggestions already, it is a case of trying to see what suits you best. What I do is shower every day (if I miss a day it can get sore), pat dry with towel then pat dry with some toilet tissue (under boobs and stomach) to make sure it is completely dry, then some medicated powder (just lightly) prevents rubbing or feeling of stickiness.

once a week or so (after being recommended on here) I use kzc shampoo (nirzarol treatment shampoo which I have already for my scalp) to wash under there, leaving on for a few mins, and that does seem to keep it a bit healthier.

UnimaginableWindBird · 18/10/2025 10:23

Thanks for all the tips! It's a bit of a vicious circle as I'm exercising more and therefore spending more time being sweaty but also wanting to keep my skin healthy.

ShrankLastWinter · 18/10/2025 15:08

I got rid of my redness with antifungal cream and now am keeping it away with talc. But also my overhang is at last reducing at BMI 24, so I think that’s helping. There is hope.

alltablenochairs · 18/10/2025 15:54

@UnimaginableWindBird you can also get intergluteal pads. A fair few reusable period/incontinence pad makers also do them. They're usually (but not always) teardrop shaped cotton pads that you tuck into skin folds e.t.c. I've tried these before as well and they work really well for me

MooBaggage · 20/10/2025 07:05

Another Monday and 1lb off for me:

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43
20.10.25 CW 14st 11lbs BMI 31.4

76lbs loss in total, so 1lb away from 5 1/2 stone loss and only a few more lbs until I get to BMI 30!

Slowly slowly, but it's happening... 😊

I've had a horrible virus over the past week or so - Covid maybe - all the delights of a high temp, sore throat, snot forever, etc... Feeling slightly more human today (just in time for work 🙄) but still not great. I was worrying I'd somehow put a ton of weight on because I feel all swollen and heavy, but obvs is just my headfucked mind being determined to convince me I can't possibly have lost all this weight...!

Well done on losing while ill @MooBaggage . Crappy sounding bug, as well.

My weight starts with a twelve! 🎉Only just, but I'll take it. It makes a 1.25 loss this week.

At 30 weeks. Currently on 10mg.

SW 17st 4
CW 12st 13.75
GW 11-12st

Total loss 4st 4.25/60.25lbs/27.33kg.

MooBaggage · 20/10/2025 09:17

@GiveMeWordGames Definitely take it! I love it when you go down a number - so satisfying 😀 And psychologically you're nearly there now - brilliant stuff.

I've added size 16 to my Vinted profile now and got rid of the size 20. It's possible I may have over-ordered last night. Ahem. Am blaming the high temperatures 😬

My Vinted orders lately have been so impractical (and relatively expensive) - maybe it’s the phases of the moon or something. I have £7 of my do-whatever-you-like money left this month 🫢

AnneinEdinburgh · 20/10/2025 13:46

I have a jeans buying habit I don't seem to be able to break. I get so excited and pleased that jeans fit that I keep buying them. I have lots of 16s and 14s waiting for me to shrink into them. Memo to self - even though I now wear jeans every day I do not need 20 pairs!

Zebracat · 20/10/2025 15:12

@AnneinEdinburgh I’ve bought 3 pairs of jeans this week!
They are all size 16 and 2 pairs may actually already be a bit big. But I feel like I’ve got my eye in now and know what I’m looking for, so I can see how this happened to you. I’ve got some wide leg cords that I love except they are ghastly for dog walks and a hazard in no shoe households , so I wanted slim straight legs. But when your waist is a 16 and your hips a 12, slim straight legs become wide legs. The 3rd pair are skinnies, and they are imo, best. I was thinking of posting photos on this thread and asking which look best and if they are too big, but not feeling brave enough.

gimmemounjaro · 20/10/2025 17:04

Ooh go on @Zebracat
All the different shapes of jeans / cords are so confusing, I’m sure it would be helpful to many - and you ofc

Life was so much easier when it was skinnies or nothing 🙂

MooBaggage · 20/10/2025 17:14

Go for it @Zebracat - I'm only just getting used to my straight/bit wide leg jeans after 40 years of skinnies - I think the straight legged jeans look tons better on me and I wish I'd discovered them years ago!

I was going to post a picture of me in my latest Vinted purchase, but am equally not feeling brave enough - it's a (new) Corset from Corset Story! Am gobsmacked at myself - but my much younger half sister is really into them, along with retro dresses and it's such an amazing look I thought I might give it a go. The corset is AMAZING and once I'd managed to get it on, gives such an amazing shape - I can highly recommend it for anyone worrying about tummies, as it transforms them..!

Not sure I'll ever wear it out of the house, but I took a photo because I was so 😯

Just spent the last of this month’s fun money on a denim dress from Vinted 🫢

I need to get selling now! So many lovely things in my favourites 🤩

gimmemounjaro · 20/10/2025 17:39

@MooBaggage please post the corset pic! Sounds amazing and would never have occurred to me!

GiveMeWordGames · 20/10/2025 17:59

Corsets are great! I'd love to see the pic too.

Evenstar · 20/10/2025 18:19

I bet it looks great @MooBaggage my DD had a made to measure one a few years ago and looked so shapely in it with dresses. I wish I could cope with some more supportive foundation garments, but due to fibromyalgia I can’t cope with being squeezed. I had to send a body shaper back recently as I got stuck in it and my husband had to help me get it off, my hands weren’t strong enough to pull the elastic off again 😳

OnwardsDownwards · 20/10/2025 19:10

I used to love a proper steel boned corset, I do have one in a drawer still somewhere! They are amazing.

I’m actually hoping to come off MJ altogether and have nearly enough pens to get me there, but wanted to buy my last couple from Swift and Pharmulous because once you’re on the books they both allow you to restart at any time within a year of your last prescription. So it’s a safety net if I try life without MJ and it all goes a bit wrong. I went for both because I needed two more pens, plus a year is a long time and one of them might go out of business!

I don’t know what else they offer in terms of maintenance eg month on month off or whatever. I am just interested in trying without MJ but with that safety net. I ordered from Swift the other day and they were very - um - swift, no need for a maintenance consultation or anything. So my next order will be from Pharmulous and then I have until this time next year to come off MJ and try life without it for a bit.

@gimmemounjaro Have been thinking about what I am doing next after I have used my pen stock and hopefully at maintenance and I keep thinking back to this post.

I'm done with Oushk I think, the price hike plus them charging for flex plan/their maintenance plan pricing not being as attractive, and a couple of recent posts on their Circle maintenance space that confirms their maintenance support is all talk and no substance, has finally nailed it for me that they have lost their mojo.

I have a last Oushk back order due (they had an offer on and I had "points" to use from previous orders) then I think I'll follow your pragmatic approach and buy one pen from Swift and follow up with one from Pharmulous then use them both to be flexible with future purchases. I plan to stay on it at 2.5mg (or lower) for some time and using 5mg pens for 6-ish weeks will allow me to keep going at a more reasonable cost without building up a stock of pens.

How was the transfer process to them with a healthy BMI? Easy? I looked to buy a pen with my first supplier, Zava, during the pen buying panic and when I saw they wanted a picture of my floppy B-belly with t-shirt lifted I thought eh, no way that is happening - ever!🤰🙈

My only outstanding concern is with you being prescribed so quickly, they haven't passed an inspection since the new GPhC guidelines came in, but I'm sure/hope even if they do "fail" initially, like Oushk they will recover and be able to keep the restart within 12 months option.

GiveMeWordGames · 20/10/2025 21:25

Ok, Vinted is officially dangerous. Having gone a bit mad yesterday buying size 14/16 natural fibre jumpers, and sworn I'd stop for a bit, today I found my perfect style of shoe in my favourite brand (Size 8, Gabor, lace up, 4cm heel, black ankle boots, literally the fucking holy grail for me) brand new in the box. Less than half what I'd pay in a shop. This one I can't even blame on losing weight. 😂

gimmemounjaro · 20/10/2025 21:27

@WeAllHaveWings

It was very easy to order from Swift - they just wanted ID, proof of previous prescription (I sent a photo of the label on my last box) and a photo of me holding a piece of paper with the date on it. I think they said clothes should be form fitting or not loose or something. I certainly did not expose the belly, heaven forbid 😂

I joined up and ordered and they dispatched it the next day.

NB I thought I would have a year from the last dose but it’s actually from the date of the prescription, so max 11 months off the drug.

There was no problem with being a healthy BMI, they will prescribe as long as you’re not below 21. I think I was 22.7 or something like that.

I hadn’t thought about them failing an inspection and being made to stop offering this 😬
Hopefully it’ll be ok - at least two pharmacies are doing it, plus Simple Online Pharmacy allows 3 months off with no questions asked. I expect others may do too. And Oushk do something similar for a fee I think? I would be v apprehensive about going it alone with no way back so would prefer to stay on 2.5mg if that were the case. I think I might discover that I need to stay on it for maintenance anyway, as I move on down the doses. But it’s interesting seeing how it goes and trying to figure out what’s me, what’s MJ and what’s random inexplicable who knows what 😂

Sam187 · 20/10/2025 21:42

Hey all, just catching up on the chat after a whirlwind trip to NYC. Been at a bit of a plateau for the last 4wks, but have spent 3 of those away and had some parties and dinners out too. I've increased for 6.25mg this evening and ready to kickstart myself back into routine.

Well done on all the victories, both scale and non-scale. Also be brave people, post the photos! We're your biggest cheerleaders 🎉 xx

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/10/2025 22:41

Great to be back here. Definitely feeling the need to be surrounded by like minded people. But also just reading some of your lovely posts is an emotional boost.

I’m on a bit of a downer. Back from a lovely Disney trip, a loss while away then a stall on return. Peri-menapause delayed period (day 40 of cycle tomorrow with no show) bringing me down. Feel so flat yet overwhelmed. So desperate to continue to loose weight yet I’m hormonally driven to eat.

I am due to jab tonight but wondering about delaying a day, theory being:
1.space out my jabs a little more to give me more time with my stock pile.
2 my mood very low (hormonal I think but grief also a struggle this week), maybe jab tonight makes me lower.
3 I have my busiest day at work tomorrow which I find stressful, maybe best to jab once it over
4 already moved day back one day last week for travel, seemed ok.

what do you lot think? Worth spacing MJ jabs out 8-10 days?

MooBaggage · 20/10/2025 23:34

awww @Reginaphalangeeeee I'm sorry life is feeling extra difficult at the moment - sounds like the hormones are raging 😔 Yes maybe delay by a day if you feel like you can cope with that gap?

I'll keep fingers crossed for a period for you - hopefully that will sort hormones and weight loss out all at once! xxx
