Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

@MooBaggage well done on your loss. That's fantastic! I tried to come off my antidepressants earlier in the year. Similarly to you I went down to half a tablet. However, I felt a big negative difference and after talking to the pharmacist at my GPs decided to go back up. It was definitely the right call for me. I do think that mounjaro is sometimes having a negative effect on my mood.

Thinking I might have to get me some of those M&S trousers before they sell out! I am a university lecturer and when term started last week I realised that I ought to have thought ahead about clothing. All my smarter trousers are very baggy and do not do much for my confidence. So I have mostly been wearing dresses but that it not very practical in these windy times. Need to have a proper wardrobe sort out.

Zebracat · 09/10/2025 18:12

@MooBaggage Moo you are doing so so well. Congratulations on getting to the 14s. Huge congratulations on dropping the dosage of your anti-ds. Can I just say don’t be in a rush to reduce further if it is intense, might even be worth increasing the dose a little, it’s alright to do it slowly, you’ve got all the time in the world.
I am most invested in @InfoSecInTheCity s search for trousers. I’m telling myself that I’m going to have less but better clothes now, and I spend far too much time lusting after the good stuff. My current fantasy favourite is a brand called Palome, and they have 2 pairs of straight trousers that definitely fit the bill. And they aren’t horrendously expensive. I really want a pair of their jeans, but they go up to a 14, and I’m definitely a 16, so they will be my reward if I ever get out of my current stall and lose the 3 kilos which will take me to overweight. They probably still won’t fit but I’d hang them from the front of my wardrobe for motivation.
can I also say that I have spent 5 months going yada yada whenever kiwis are mentioned, because I eat a lot of fruit and it has not helped with constipation. But I got some golden kiwis this week, and who knew? They work. So thank you very much to all the kiwi people🥝🥝🥝

InfoSecInTheCity · 09/10/2025 19:06

I ordered 5 pairs from Next and returned the all but then this morning, I stopped in at Matalan on an impulse and they had a pair of straight leg long length size 10 trousers with a matching soft blazer and they fit really well so I think I’m sorted at least this one work event.

could I get some advice. Last weekend I somehow forgot about my jab I usually jab on Fridays but only managed to jab on Monday this week. I feel all messed up and really want the predictability of Fridays back. Do I have to gradually move back to Friday over the next few weeks or can I just do it tomorrow and get back on track?

I’d just do iIt tomorrow.. I’ve moved my days around sometimes because of trips and it has made very little difference to me. But perhaps it depends what dose you’re on and whether you’re prone to side effects? You could do Sat this week and Friday next week to smooth it out if you’re worried.

I've got a vague recollection of reading that you must have at least 4 days between doses so you might be ok but I would worry about increased side effects and wouldn't do it if on 12.5mg or 15mg as that could go above recommended blood levels
Could you move it forward half way this week and the rest next week?

Seahorsesplendour · 10/10/2025 05:18

Agree with @QueenOfHiraeth it does depend what dose you’re on! For example if you’re on 5mg and inject early you’ll probably be fine with the higher doses in your system but if you’re on 15 it’s far more risky.

I would just do 6 days for next few weeks to be on safe side it’ll only be 2 weeks of different injection days. So sun this week, sat next week then back to Friday.

or if it’s working well & you’ve got good suppression etc then save a bit of money & make the pen last longer going the other way and do wed next week then fri the week after.

Slowlyslowlysurely · 10/10/2025 08:28

Thanks I’m on 10mg so I think I’ll do Sunday this week and Saturday next and then back to normal. Thank you for the advice x

ShrankLastWinter · 10/10/2025 09:29

Sounds like a good plan!

alltablenochairs · 10/10/2025 22:13

As promised, pics after a year or so on MJ. Thr first one of me in the sling is after I had already lost 8kg. The other pic was taken this week and I'm 38kg down. The dress I am wearing is a size 16- it would have never fit me a year ago and neither would I have been wearing tights I brought in Morrisons- I would have had to shell out for snag tights because I was too big for standard tights. I've still got a long way to go- about the same again before I hit a healthy BMI. I definitely notice it now. I've got wibbly skin on my thighs, tummy and I have an impressive set of bingo wings. However the only person who's likely to see those areas is DH and we've been married too long for him to care.

On other news I also shelled out for another 15mg pen today. Thanks, Trump for cranking the prices up. At least you didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize.

My top MJ tip- buy a heated blanket! Its made a such a difference to me. We keep the house heated to 22 degrees however last year this wasnt enough.

alltablenochairs · 10/10/2025 22:20

Another top tip but this has nothing to do with MJ. I know a few of us on here are carers. Be it spouses, parents or children with complex needs. I personally have a son with PDA autism and a lot more besides. Even though I love him to bits, life is............. not always easy.

Theres a charity called Carefree who arrange for stays in unsold hotel rooms. Its usually 2 nights every 6 months. All it costs is a £33 booking fee and you usually get breakfast included as well. I stayed in some lovely places- a hotel in Birmingham, a really lovely hotel in London (where I got upgraded to a suite compliments of the manager!). Just done another booking before the end of the year. All sorts of hotels are available to book- Scottish castle anyone???.

You need to be caring for someone for over 35 hours a week and either be in receipt of carer's allowance or have someone who can attest. The only snag is you're not allowed to bring the person you care for.

Weigh day for me today after 9 weeks of maintenance

SW: 241.2 / 17st 3 / BMI 35.6
CW: 153.6 / 11st / BMI 22.7
GW: remain in the 150s

Ticking along, focusing on strength training and eating more intuitively, so far so good 💪

I am on the books with Swift now, so if I manage to stop MJ entirely, I have that safety net of being able to restart at any point up to 1 Oct 26.

Plan is to order one more pen from Pharmulous and then slowly use up what I’ve got, gradually reducing the dose, and then stop next year. Maybe.

Happy weekends, everyone 🙂

GiveMeWordGames · 11/10/2025 07:59

It's good to see you doing so well at maintaining, @gimmemounjaro

What a lovely charity, @alltablenochairs . Just such a great idea all round. I don't know if it's just me but I can't see any pictures on your first post. I do use the Duckduckgo browser for MN to avoid the awful intrusive ads but I don't think it's that as I can see other attachments, like the soup recipe on the previous page.

For the first time in history, approximately, it's been me saying to my husband that we need to put the winter duvet on the bed this weekend. What has this stuff done to me? 🤣

MooBaggage · 11/10/2025 08:31

@gimmemounjaro That's brilliant! 9 weeks of maintenance at goal weight is something I've never achieved - it must feel so good to just be there and staying there 😊

Also good you've got a plan - I'm really glad you're still posting here - it's one thing to lose weight, but to keep it off is quite another so I love seeing your posts - thank you.

@alltablenochairs I can't see your photos either - maybe try reposting? 🙏

Well that's annoying. Even me in my pants didn't take that long to approve!!!

Also annoying is Evri and their stupid lockers. I bought some gloves on Vinted and thought I'd give a locker a go. For the last three days tracking tells me they're about to be delivered, then they're not, they go back to the depot and rinse and repeat the next day. My best guess (because Evri's AI chat told me precisely nothing and "escalated" to no discernible effect either) is the lockers are full each time. This is actually more irritating than waiting to see which random neighbour's gate things get thrown over when I have things delivered to my house. 😐

I'm glad with the other Vinted things I've recently bought (wool coat!!) I did pay the little bit extra for home delivery.

Zebracat · 11/10/2025 11:17

I’m wondering about dipping my toe into Vinted, my jeans are falling off , and I’m quite tempted to get more for under10 pounds. But it does all seem such a faff. Might just try the charity shops. I’m fussy though, I like proper denim either dark or properly faded, slim and straight legged. I have some wide legged cords and I like the look but oh my , they are just not practical, flapping about outside in the rain and tripping me up once my shoes are off.

Try searching for the brands/design you already wear but in a size or two down. Save new styles and brands for further down the line. It gets a bit expensive replacing them every few months otherwise.

UnimaginableWindBird · 11/10/2025 16:08

@gimmemounjaro can I ask why you are switching from Pharmulous to Swift for maintenance? I was considering moving to Pharmulous once my BMI is lower because of their maintenance plan, so if Swift is better I might move there instead.

I’m actually hoping to come off MJ altogether and have nearly enough pens to get me there, but wanted to buy my last couple from Swift and Pharmulous because once you’re on the books they both allow you to restart at any time within a year of your last prescription. So it’s a safety net if I try life without MJ and it all goes a bit wrong. I went for both because I needed two more pens, plus a year is a long time and one of them might go out of business!

I don’t know what else they offer in terms of maintenance eg month on month off or whatever. I am just interested in trying without MJ but with that safety net. I ordered from Swift the other day and they were very - um - swift, no need for a maintenance consultation or anything. So my next order will be from Pharmulous and then I have until this time next year to come off MJ and try life without it for a bit.

UnimaginableWindBird · 11/10/2025 19:11

Oh, that makes sense. My current plan when I get to my goal weight is to spend time packing on as much muscle as I can and then dieting again to lower my body fat, so I'm going to need to either restart from drug-free or increase my dose. But I can see why having 2 options would be a good idea.

gimmemounjaro · 11/10/2025 19:54

Sounds like a good plan and Swift and Pharmulous will both be good for that. You have reminded me that I am supposed to be focusing on body recomposition at the mo. Need to improve / replace my disappearing glutes for starters. But the only thing improving is my ability to come up with reasons not to bother exercising. I need a kick up my non-existent arse! 😬

QueenOfHiraeth · 11/10/2025 21:42

@gimmemounjaro You and me both! I am far better at finding excuses than at exercising but really need to get myself sorted.
I am with Swift but haven't got to the point of thinking about maintenance yet. I probably need to lose about another half a stone before I consider it which would take me only just into the healthy weight band, and still considerably heavier than most on here, but I am mid-60s so don't want to go too low and shrivel.

I hadn't thought of having more than one supplier for maintenance insurance, that's another thing I hadn't thought of!

That is very helpful advice - thank you. I still have 2 stones to lose, so not near maintenance yet, but very helpful information.

I have accidentally jagged 15mg today (was supposed to be counting clicks from 15mg pen, to dose 12.5mg) and absent-mindedly did the whole 60 clicks shebang! Hey ho, I will report back if suppression kicks in😂

I am needing to get more focussed on MJ jagging, as was supposed to jag days ago, and kept forgetting! No harm done, as it spaces out the MJ = cheaper. I completely forget about MJ a lot these days, as I never get side affects or suppression, but very much in the zone re way of eating, so it is doing something!

I am going to buy weights today, at all this talk of body composition and muscle-building. It is time. I need to get on and just bloody do it. Love @MooBaggage's/ @InfoSecInTheCity waiting on the coffee machine/kettle squats, arms, etc. but am mindful of your sage advice @VelociraptorsVelociRapping and making sure my pelvic floor isn't affected, so will tread carefully. My upper arms are the worst part of me, so that can be my focus until I get into it properly.

Here's to a good week for us all. Scales have stuck here (as usual) BUT my measurements are showing massive changes in waist, belly, under-bust and hips which is extraordinary given the plateauing which is going on!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 12/10/2025 19:41

As of this morning I have officially lost 3 stone. Another 2 to go but such a nice milestone to reach. I managed to sneak a quick trip to the shops while I was, quite literally, waiting for paint to dry. I was in desperate need of some new jeans. I did manage to find a pair, but it was so hard to find jeans that aren’t high waisted. I can’t abide a high rise on my trousers. I got a couple of tops in h and m and the large was too big so got mediums. I even managed to fit into a 14 in a few of the jeans. I wouldn’t have tired them but they didn’t have a 16 so thought I’d take a punt. sizing is so inconsistent, even in the same shop.

I am absolutely shattered now though. I have painted 5.5 rooms in the last week. Every spare minute each evening and all weekend has been decorating. Desperately trying to get everything ready for the kitchen and bathroom fitters and the second fix on plumbing and electrics.
I have a few more skirting boards to do and the rest of the kitchen needs to wait till the units are installed as the other walls are completely blocked by boxes. The cat is loving it! Hopefully I’ll have a few days off to recover - well just the normal day job.
